I was in a bad situation. I was away from home and I needed an antibiotic prescription filled right away. The drug was very expensive, but the pharmacy director, Mr. Amin, was amazing. He authorized the prescription and used a manufacturer's coupon to reduce the cost by about two thirds - WITHOUT EVEN GETTING APPROVAL FROM THE MANUFACTURER OR THE INSURER. I must say, finding a decent compound pharmacy in my area that's willing to deal with experimental medications is no easy task! I'm in a clinical trial in DC but live in VA, so I went through 6 'compound pharmacies' in Falls Church before finding Preston's in Arlington. They've been a godsend. My only issue is that I've never gotten my prescription filled the same day, but it's not the end of the world. (Their prices also seem a little steep for the compounding but that may just be the medication, itself, as it's new. If I knew of a place to compare that pricing, I would.) Other than having to make two trips, I really like this pharmacy. In fact, my biggest issue is spending too much money on all the fun gift items. Last time I was in, they'd just gotten a shipment of Essential Oils in, too. Gifts for them, and gifts for me! :) read more

So disappointed in Preston's. Have loved this hidden gem for years but will be rethinking in future. Excited to find out that they had face masks - so I ran right up. Wish I never knew because they are selling 1 (ONE) single disposable face mask for $3.00 (THREE DOLLARS) per. Be very careful. I just picked up a prescription, and when I came home found it to be less a few pills. When I brought this to their attention, I was informed that there was nothing that they would or could do about it. This is unconscionable! If you must go here for medications, demand that they count your pills in front of you, not behind the counter. If you don't find out prior to leaving the store that your pills are not all there, then they blame you. I have already reported them to the VA Department of Health, Arlington County Police, Arlington County VICE, and am not looking at the Board of Pharmacology. BEWARE of this place!!! read more

My doctor suggested I start wearing compression stockings to keep my legs happier during the day. She sent me here since it was near her office. I had no idea what to look for in compression stockings and they had a wall of them. Someone came out to help me, gave me a little measuring tape to figure out what size I was, and helped me pick them out and made sure I was happy with the color and had the right size. This place isn't really convenient to my house or I'd come here more often, but I'm a huge fan. The staff was really friendly and helpful to everyone who came to the counter, I was impressed. read more

i switched from CVS at the recommendation of my dermatologist. best move i ever made. i was repeatedly having trouble getting a difficult rx filled, and even had CVS claim it "isn't made anymore" (false). prestons is always able to fill my rx, charges the same prices as CVS and rite aid, and doesn't have an attitude. you can always count on getting good courteous service and care. though they only have this one location, and it is not very convenient, it is well worth the trip. great selection of other stuff, and great people. can't recommend any more highly. this is what you want in a pharmacy, people! read more

I will start off with the pharmacy did apologize for the incident (although they did nothing to make things right) that I am about to describe but I still think that it is unacceptable and that people should be aware of the situation. I was a new customer so I was not in their system. I had a new prescription. I left it with a girl who copied the prescription, copied by SOCIAL SECURITY number, and insurance information. Two days later, I hear nothing. So I call and they said they lost my prescription. Along with the paper that held my social security number and other personal information. They acted like it was not a big deal and that they would just call my doctor back and get it again. My doctor was not available for two days. I asked to look for the prescription. But I guess they couldn't do that. Very irresponsible. As a small business, you should have procedures in place like corporate pharmacies. CVS, Walgreen, and even Rite-aide have never lost a prescription. So I called my doctor and switched to Joule Wellness Pharmacy. Because Preston's lost the orginal copy my new pharmacy had all sorts of trouble getting an actual copy. Very unprofessional. I hope no one steals my identy! read more

My daughter was diagnosed with severe reflux and needed a compounded medication. I called pharmacies more local to my home but none would be open on Saturday and it was 5:00 on Friday even. A couple of years ago, I decided to leave the chain drug stores behind, and switched my prescriptions to Preston's. It was among the best decisions I've ever made and I haven't looked back since. Preston's offers friendly, capable service, in which a customer feels like an individual. All of Preston's staff are wonderful! My prescriptions are always filled in a professional manner and I can relax, knowing my needs will be met. They endeavor to maintain a diverse supply of prescription medications, including one which I had a very hard time getting at the chain drug store I formerly used. They also have a broad range of braces, prescription stockings, and home care aids that one does not often see in a chain store. You'll also find office supplies, vitamins, and some munchies. Of note, the store also has a beautiful selection of cards, stationery, personal care items, and gift items for the home. If you're picking up a prescription, take some time to browse through the store. You may see something to add some cheer to someone else's life, or your own! I love my new pharmacy! read more

I'm surprised by the negative reviews. I had a great experience with them. I believe I spoke with Luis over the phone, he was very kind, courteous, and personable-which is not always the easiest thing to do over the phone. He provided clear info and checked my address, etc to make sure the delivery would be sent to the right place (I've actually used another company in the past and they sent my medication the wrong place-so I really appreciated his being thorough). Sure enough, my medicine was delivered to my door just as told, the next morning. I definitely appreciated their level of professionalism and would recommend them to others. read more

Preston's used to be my go-to Pharmacy for all my compounding needs; however, since the change of ownership, the business mission statement is LESS about serving the customer needs and MORE about the money. Understanding that Big Pharma is encroaching on profits for businesses like this, its shameful to purposely have so little inventory that you must charge your customers elevated prices for the compounded medicine. This is the approach that Preston's has taken with the very popular Naturethroid, which they claim that can't get-- "but can compound for an increased price". Funny, the tiny compounding pharmacy in McLean doesn't have a problem getting Naturethroid and charging customers 10 times LESS than a compounded version. Also I called for another common medicine-- B12 injections. Preston's reply, "Can't get it-- BUT--we can compound it for you ...[and charge you five times as much]". Pharmacy in McLean doesn't' have a problem getting it. Preston's be on notice-- Physicians are noticing the difference too, mine has at least! Bring back the previous owners! read more

Preston's is a great local pharmacy. I take very uncommon drug that most other pharmacies do not carry. They told me one time that I'm the only one of their customers that uses this drug, yet they always seem to have it in stock. They were very helpful in getting a prescription filled out of state when I accidentally left it home. Old fashioned customer service yet up to date with the latest technology. read more

Recommend against going to Preston's for COVID testing. This was my second COVID test, both of which have been required by my employer. Preston's employees were 1 hour late in administering my test and provided no updates while I waited. They failed to follow their established procedures regarding assigned parking. In addition, they managed to lose their record of my appointment and payment leading to additional delays. Finally, the technician administering the test was far harsher than necessary in her use of the nasal swab. For the physical pain they inflicted alone, I recommend against getting tested at Prestons. I know that a COVID test need not hurt as much as this one did because the clinic where I had my first COVID test administered it without any pain at all. There are other places that test for COVID without a doctor's order. You will be glad you did not get tested at Prestons. read more

Be careful doing business with these guys. They lie and delay, delay in making a return. Case in point. We had a prescription to fill and we're told that Medicare didn't cover it. We bought the equipment based on their word. Checked with Medicare and found out they did. Took the evidence back and they told us that didn't bill Medicare! Slightly different. Spent a half hour making the return! No reason, they simply made us wait. Went to the Medicine Chest in McLean and got it filled. No problem. On a previous visit, Preston's told us they didn't fill prescriptions for dogs! They not only lie but they are inhumane. Lesson? Go to the Medicine Chest, skip these bums at Preston's. read more

As a customer who happens to be a physician, I wish I could give them negative stars. I went for a nebulizer for my sick boy and they told me insurance doesn't cover the cost. Worse is they said all other medical supply stores will tell me the same. Knowing that's not true, I drove to another med supply store and walked out, machine in hand, without a cent out of pocket, as insurance indeed covered 100%. read more

I have 4 compounded prescriptions I have had fill at Prestons monthly. Previously, I used the Medicine Shoppe In McLean - never had a problem there. I want to support a local Arlington pharmacy - but my experience at Preston's compounding facility has been problematic. My experience is it takes days to fill my prescription and they continually miss dates/times they have committed to. When i mention this the response by the lead pharmacist was "I'll note it". Other pharmacies call you when prescriptions are ready - not Preston's. Another gripe is that their labels are difficult to remove - you can't easily remove them from bottles you put in recycling. This creates a privacy issue. When I brought this up to the pharmacists I was basically blown off. I will say that their counter staff is EXCELLENT and they have great greeting cards. It's just that their core business needs significant improvement. I know if I were to contact The Medicine Shoppe and tell them the price that Prestons is providing my prescriptions for and i believe they would match or beat it. I'll give them a few more chances - but that's it. read more

I went to this location to purchase some items for the office, it is the first time I have been here. I walked past the pharmacy desk and asked if I was able to pay here or the other register, the women looked at me and did not respond. Though the kind gentleman Muhammed was completing tasks behind the counter he noticed the many boxes I had in my hand and pleasantly responded, "You can pay here or the other register ma'am, it can be done at both." He took the initiative to help me and was also paid attention to detail to ask me if I intended to grab powered and powder free gloves which I did not realize I had grabbed one of each, he saved me from having to make another stop at the store twice in one day. Muhammed definitely possess leadership skills that I am confident God has blessed him with to be an example and guide others to learn from his etiquette. Such a hidden gem!! I originally went to Preston's when my 2-week old needed a medicine done in a liquid compound, and CVS could not do it. Preston's was so helpful and the pharmacist came out and carefully explained to me how to administer the meds. We now do all of our prescriptions here, and find their prices to be great. It is a lovely, relaxing store. Clean bathrooms that are not locked, very friendly employees and just wonderful service. If you are waiting for an rx, there is a little area with toys for the little ones to play. It reminds me of an old-fashioned, sweet country store. You're not going to find everything there is at the big pharmacies and their hours are somewhat limited, but it is 100% worth it. Also, they have a number of cute, quality gift items. Cocktail napkins, cute candles, tableware (cheese knives, serving platters, etc). I would highly recommend checking them out for last-minute hostess gifts. Two thumbs up for Prestons!!! read more

Preston's is the best pharmacy in our area!! Their pharmacists are incredibly kind and helpful. During the recent thunderstorm and lengthy power outage, we forgot to pick up his prescription in all of the chaos. Their pharmacist took my son's compounded prescription home and text messaged me that I could pick it up at her house because she was worried we would run out. I don't know any CVS or other big box store that would do that. Preston's is the place that reminds you of what customer service should be. They do an excellent job and give me peace of mind that my son's pharmacists are caring and skilled. I feel very lucky to have found this place. Plus they have a great selection of cute gifts and other baby products. I never leave without picking up some other cute item. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. read more

My husband had a biking accident requiring emergency surgery and I needed several items for our home upon his discharge. I spoke with the pharmacist, returned later with photos, and purchased just what I needed to make the home safe and his assist his recovery. I hate going to other pharmacies because in all honesty, the pharmacists at other places almost seem impatient when you ask them questions. My veterinarian asked Preston's to compound an antibiotic for my cat, Onyx (an otherwise healthy 4-year-old cat who suddenly became very sick with an unexplained fever). Preparing this compounded medication usually takes at least 24-hours notice. When I called Preston's and explained that I was in the immediate area and very anxious to get the cat started on the medication, the compounding pharmacist (who had only 25 minutes left on his or her shift) agreed to prepare the medication before leaving for the day (even though Preston's had received the request for the prescription less than two hours earlier). I was able to give Onyx his first dose that evening and he started responding very well almost right away. I can't thank Preston's -- and in particular the compounding pharmacist -- enough for this remarkably kind and fast service. read more

After passing this little neighborhood pharmacy for years, I finally stopped-in to fill my daughter's prescription after many other pharmacies were out. Upon walking in, I noticed a sign on the door encouraging customers who might of had poor service to speak with management and make it known. Also, as I waited, I also noticed the manager (owner?) (after noticing me and another customer standing at the counter), ask an employee behind the counter if all the customers were taken care of. While I get good friendly service at my local CVS, that level of care is simply not there. Preston's seems to be determined to overcome their size disadvantage by providing customers with what was once common practice: personal, caring service at reasonable prices. If first impressions are everlasting, then mine are positive. I encourage all to give this small pharmacy a try. read more

Preston's Pharmacy is my go-to pharmacy for hard to find medications. Every time I have trouble filling a prescription I know I can go to Preston's and they will have it or at least be able to get it for me in a timely manner. They are so professional and pleasant and treat customers as if we are important and our prescriptions are important. I will be bringing all of my prescriptions to them from now on. As a bonus they have a wonderful gift store you can browse as you wait!! It truly has the feel of a small town pharmacy. read more

The cashier was friendly and said they would let me know as soon as my prescription came in from my doc and was ready. After waiting 45 minutes, I had to go back up to find out what was going on. They had received the prescription but had not filled it so I had to wait another 20 minutes for the pharmacist to start the order. I would not recommend this pharmacy. There are others in the area that do a much better job, even with compounded drugs. read more

I really am unhappy with Preston's Pharmacy. I had a sick cat, and my vet called in the prescription to Preston's. When it was ready, Preston's called and left me a message. Their website says they're open until 7. After a really busy day at work, I came home and hopped right in my car to head right over. I got to Preston's at 6:54. I went up to the doors to discover they were both already locked. If you say you're open until 7, BE OPEN UNTIL 7. Consequently, I had to wait another whole day to get my cat's medicine (as they don't open until 8:30 am). When I actually did get the medicine, it was vastly overpriced ($50, when I had previously gotten the same medicine elsewhere for $15). It's really a shame, because the store itself has a very cute, old store feel. Will hopefully never have to return to this place. read more

I agree with others. I will not use a chain or mail-order pharmacy again. I've been going to Preston's for about three years. It is the only pharmacy I know that consistently offers high-quality, customer-focused service. The pharmacists are always happy to answer questions about the medications. I like Preston's with it's many products fo elderly and people with disabilities. I. Would like to give it 5 stars but will only give it one. The reason is, if you are a wheelchair user or elderly you must first struggle to get through the doors. In this day and age when a large portion of ones customers are elderly and disabled, should not there be automatic doors? Not having automatic doors is a blatant disregard for consumers. As a wheelchair user I struggled to get in and asked the owner about having automatic doors and his answer was the same placating answer I've heard from so many others, "yes we should have them". The great noncommittal answer that simply means, DON'T BOTHER ME. read more

I needed a wrist brace and was referred to Preston's Pharmacy. I was really pleased when the person came to help me, she really knew the braces and what brace would work for me and what wouldn't. The whole vibe in Preston's is different. They have a variety of choices on many different "sundries" and most of all, they have patience for their clients! Not only did I get get my brace, but I found a wide variety of things to look at and buy, like the old-fashioned Pharmacies always had. For example, they have really fun choices of reading glasses, scented candles and gifts. They have a GREAT greeting card selection - from serious to the totally fun.
