    Scallops Rockefeller excellent!

Dinner last night with a friend was a great experience. We started with the appetizer special, scallops Rockefeller. And while not my expected format for Rockefeller this take was very rich with bacon (yum) and the scallops were perfect pan seared. I opted for the scrimp fettuccine while my friend picked the salmon. The salmon was correct at just medium and while my shrimp were properly cooked, they still came with the tails on! Grr! I did think that the pasta was very tender it could have used a bit more sauce. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive and service overall was excellent. The evening was on the quiet side which made for an enjoyable dinner. Unlike a pass experience I can highly recommend Preston's

Yum!! Delicious, super hearty farm to table food. You can taste the quality, and lots of homemade goodness. We got the pear and cheese salad twice - 4 diffident homemade cheeses, rich nougat, roasted pears, and homemade dressing. Tried the salmon, chicken, burger, and portobello mushroom sandwich - all solid and perfect for a long day of skiing or snowboarding. Lots of warm and regular specialty cocktails and desserts too. Wonderful service too. Highly recommend!

I stayed at the hotel so I ate here for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is very reasonably priced and I have no complaints! Dinner was pretty good as well. The appetizers were just okay. I had the duck entree and really enjoyed it. Mixed drinks were almost too strong... great value but difficult to enjoy

Food was solid especially in a bar dominated town! It stands out even more so! Restaurant is Inside the Killington grand hotel , there was a wait but grabbed a drink at the bar while we waited about 45 min. Service was standard, needed to ask for more beverages (vs the waitress proactively checking in) . Lamb was juicy, and delish. Salmon was great, both meals came with potatoes (mash or fingerling) and broccoli rabe. The app cheese platter was good the best part of them is the local honey that came on the platter. So yummy.

Preston's turned out to be exactly what I expected. Solid for a hotel restaurant but won't necessarily end up on your short list of top restaurants in Killington. The food ranges from average to good, the cocktails are just so-so (they've got a decent draft selection if you're a beer person) and the ambiance is that of a sports bar/casual American joint. It's kind of the ideal hotel restaurant, though, because while nothing is outstanding, it's got a good variety of items, lot of good options and definitely something for everyone. Hotel restaurants that need to satisfy adults and kids alike are typically somewhat safe in their offerings, which will often leave some to be desired. A large menu is key, which can often mean that quality is lost in favor of quantity. That all said, I do appreciate that Preston's is a well-oiled machine with great staff and a comfy vibe. I think 3.5 stars would be more appropriate, but given my options, 3 is a hair more fitting. Came here on a Sunday night first to watch the tail end of the 4:25 football fare. The Eagles won, smiles were had by me and me alone because Vermont is indeed Pats country. Sad. Anyway, I had my fun. We first sat at the bar, which is run quite efficiently -- great bartenders, speedy process. Ski towns love their booze, and Killington is no exception. Drinks are poured high and the spirits are poured with a heavy hand. There weren't any tables available when we arrived, so we sat at the bar and had a pair of Bees Knees while we waited. These were a bit too sweet for my liking and there were no lavender bitters present (traditionally the Bees Knees is finished with a couple dashes of these) but it would be foolish to expect speakeasy-grade cocktails here, so I was content overall. As I mentioned, the draft and wine selections here are probably a better bet if you're looking for good quality. I switched to the oft-featured Citizen Cider (every Vermont establishment seems to tout the local craft) and the bf switched to beer. I don't typically drink beer, but I took little sips of what he ordered and enjoyed both. Given the protein-heavy food menu here, I think beer/cider and red wine might be the way to go. Food-wise, we wanted to sample a bit of the menu but found that the entrees appealed to us more than the tapas. As I mentioned, the menu is broad. Lots of good shareables, many protein options with an additional list of various steak cuts. Portions are substantial here (skiers come back from the mountain hungry and are always looking for a reward gorge) so you don't need to order too much to be satisfied. This was a splurge night for us so we ordered a lot, but we had quite a few leftovers. Eats, below: Butter Poached Lobster Tail: B This was served in a very sad way. One small, misshapen white lump of meat on one small, white plate. It was perfectly fine, but I can see why it's detailed as an add-on as opposed to a standalone. We were expecting an actual tail, so a bit disappointing. Filet Mignon w/ Mashed Potatoes: B/B+ I wasn't that high on the filet but the mashed potatoes were incredible. I don't know what sort of dairy madness goes into these to make them this good but it's gotta be something fatty and rich. The flavor, the texture, all of it. I've honestly never liked mashed potatoes (yes, I know, please withhold your groans, I've heard them my whole life due to this issue) so it's saying something how into them I was. The meat was fine, but not worth a filet splurge. Crispy Duck Breast w/ Parsnip puree, farro red flannel hash, baby kale, blood orange reduction, natural jus: B+ Again, the sides wowed me way more than the protein. The duck was just okay -- not as crispy as I would have liked and a bit under-seasoned, but still serviceable. The farro hash was incredible -- earthy, super flavorful and rich, the perfect, warmning winter accompaniment. Sauteed asparagus: B Nothing special. A few limp asparagus (asparagi?) on a plate. We wanted some extra veggies but I'd recommend trying something different from the list of sides. Vermont Artisan Cheese Board w/ Red Barn Lavash, Preston's Pure Honey, salted Spanish almonds: A Everything was working with this plate. All of the cheeses were super tasty, the honey was rich and sweet and special in all the right ways and hard to mess with Spanish almonds. This is how a cheese plate should be done, especially in Vermont.

My boyfriend and I had a nice dinner here on our mini vacation to Killington. I suggest making a reservation, as they do get busy and ask for a booth!! We made a reservation but were given the worst table in the restaurant next to the kitchen. When we asked if we could sit elsewhere, they said they were too busy (we were 2 sat at a 4top on a Tuesday night) but that's okay. The cocktails were good, but nothing extraordinary. The two dishes we wanted were 86'ed, and I understand there are many supply chain issues, but I would've liked to know that before I decided on them. The lamb was very good and a large portion! The monk fish was also good, but the risotto was undercooked therefore a bit crunchy. We also got the cheese plate which was very good and had 3 cheeses, honey comb, crostini, grapes and nuts. The lemon meringue - mascarpone pie was actually a cake and not at all what was expected, but also very good! Our waiter was okay, of course it is very difficult for restaurants to find quality staff right now. He simply wasn't very warm or informative considering it's one of the most expensive restaurants in town. Overall a good meal, just lacking the experience we would've liked for a $150 dinner for two.

    Whiskey menu is great!!!

God bless this place! I was so thankful we had this restaurant at our hotel. We ate here twice and would've eaten here a third time if we hadn't had a craving for Italian. Lol. The first night, we had the cheese platter, the amazing Thai basil mussels, the Brussels sprouts and the wings. Everything was great. My entree was the Himalayan salt scallops. They were cooked perfectly and the waitress was quick to advise me that they get saltier the longer they sit on the brick. The yuzu risotto was so unique. It said picked onions but it looked like picked carrots?and asparagus is asparagus. Still one of my fave veggies. My date had the seafood duo. I wouldn't recommend it. It was not what I expected, although it was good. Service was stellar. The next night, we had the baked Brie. YUM! I only wish it was bigger! We also had the complimentary bread and softened butter. For dinner I had the ramen. I would say it needed more soy sauce flavor but I'm a soy sauce ramen fan, not a miso ramen fan. Otherwise it was delicious. My date has the steak and mashed potatoes and left nothing behind! We had a nice bottle of wine to go with it all. Service again was superb. They have a tv at the bar and lots of beer, wine and spirits. I was surprised at the whiskey selection. They had a lot more than I predicted. Bathrooms are part of the hotel and are around the corner. There's not an easy parking option although you could valet if you're not staying there. Outside the restaurant is a cozy fireplace area where we finished our wine. I adore this place and I am so thankful it was there for our enjoyment. The food is amazing. They also serve lunch but not breakfast.
