This dry cleaner is the best of the best. They are very prompt and professional with outstanding customer service. They removed food stains from a couple of my suits when two other noteworthy cleaners could not. I strongly recommend them for dry cleaning and laundry services. So, it turns out that, in the whirl of insanity that is preparing for a wedding, sometimes you forget something important on your "to do" list. Like, say, your wedding dress. I bought my dress-- a sweet vintage gown--just a couple weeks after I got engaged, and it wasn't until the week of the wedding that I thought, "hmm, I should probably get this professionally cleaned and pressed." So I was a little embarrassed when I brought the dress to Prestige the Monday before my wedding and asked if it could be ready by Thursday eve. And, frankly, I was a bit nervous after my fellow yelper's Vera Wang gone awry review. Luckily, my experience was very different. Upon looking at my dress, Anthony quickly recognized how fragile the chiffon around the middle of my dress was, and he advised me strongly to just get the dress steamed. And thank goodness for that, because, unbeknown to me at the time, the middle of my dress would have basically dissolved during the dry cleaning process--and, while I like to think I'm a fairly unconventional bride, I would not have been too psyched about a two piece, midriff baring ensemble. On top of this, their seamstress gave the once-crinkly chiffon--which had gotten a bit droopy in the nearly 50 years since it was manufactured--an amazing "face lift," strategically incorporating the tiniest of stitches to make it look like new. On the way out, I told them I would be back after the honeymoon to get it cleaned for storage, and Anthony told me that they could spot clean it to make sure the chiffon stayed intact. From beginning to end of this transaction, I felt that the staff really knew their stuff and was invested in doing what they could to make my dress as lovely as possible on my big day. read more

I will admit, it does not look like much from the outside, but this is the BEST dry cleaners anywhere in the DC area. I live in Arlington and I have been driving 45 minutes out of my way to have them help me with a project. I am getting married in 6 weeks and I am planning to wear my mother's veil. It is now over 30 years old and has been worn in 4 weddings (it has been 8 years since its last wear.) In the time it was in a closet in a box, the antique, delicate lace turned brown when sugars crystallized. Also, the headpiece was old and needed to be taken out and replaced with a more modern comb piece. Prestige to the rescue!! Rochelle was a God-send. She called me repeatedly to walk me through the process. They did test-runs on small sections before they did a full cleaning, they called again just to let me know they had noticed variation in the lace and wanted to know how bright I wanted it to be. I was so impressed, you would think my veil was the only article their store was cleaning!!! And Voula!! She is a wonder. I brought her a comb I bought from Rizik's in DC and asked if she could take off the old-fashioned head-piece and sew it on. She did a MARVELOUS job. It looks perfect, and she preserved the old piece in case my cousin ever wants to use it. I am delighted by this store and I only wish it were closer to me so I could send all my clothes there every week. Great service and personable staff! Never had a single garment damaged or lost. The prices here are a bit on the higher end compared to the competition, but you get what you pay for. I called to inquire about cleaning my wedding dress and in the 2 minutes that I spent on the phone with the representative, I won't ever bring any of my items here. Let's keep in mind that I'm cleaning a wedding dress. Something that I don't do often and I had questions about it since I knew it would be a costly thing to do. I only wanted the tulle bottom dry cleaned/pressed as the beaded bodice was fine (and I knew that hand cleaning the beading would cost a fortune). They couldn't do that, they would only clean the entire dress for $375. When I inquired why the quote was over two times more than any other place I called, he simply said "well, we are a prestige cleaner". Not really the way to win business there, pal. read more

Took my bridesmaid dress to this place last week. 7 days later, I went to go pick it up (after the pick up time), dress was NOT ready - it hadn't even been touched the whole week. Over priced, charged me $51 for a subpar cleaning, note was written on the dress stating "this is the best we could do for perspiration odor" for a newly bought, NEVER worn dress which was purchased online. I am glad I found Prestige Exceptional Fabricare. I am new to the area and pleased I found a first class cleaner that delivers more than I expected. As I count on this service for my business clothes, anything less than perfect is not an option for me. From making my suites, and shirts, look their best to having them completed as promised, you can't ask for more. Combined this with the friendly and helpful service, and I will not go anywhere else. Yes, I found them to be on the higher side of pricing, but I've learned years ago, cheaper is not always better. This place is EXPENSIVE. It is also EXTRAORDINARY. That's it, in a nutshell. When I walk in, even if it's been months? They almost always greet me by name. Unreal. They take exquisite care of your clothes. The way they carefully examine even the most smelly and soiled items you bring in for cleaning -- gentle turning over, feeling the fabric's heft, fingering the collars and seams -- goes a long way to justify the price, lol! Even when the price tag has taken my breath away? I remember their stellar professionalism, their CONSTANT discounts (join their e-mail list), the pre-pay discount (it matters), and the comfort I feel in knowing that my clothes are in amazing hands. A colleague new to the area needed a bridesmaid's dress pressed. I offered Prestige-Exceptional. When she got the dress and wore it? The others at the wedding wondered if she'd altered her dress, as it looked so much better than theirs! Also: try the on-site seamstress. She works magic. I've needed repairs of delicate knits and fabrics and her work is virtually invisible. I love her. This place is jaw-dropping. The worst aspect is the price. However, that they made it through the economic recession WITH their high prices is a testament to their unique ability to repeatedly give the customer's a quality of service at a level of professionalism that is almost non-existent. She tailored my Badgley Mischka dress for a New Year's Eve party beautifully. It fit like couture. She can be a little pricey but well worth it! I go to her for all of my tailor needs. read more

I dropped off an evening gown for alterations. I was saddened to learn the expert seamstress had passed away. She was wonderful. The new woman spoke very little English, but I was assured she understood me. I repeatedly said 'do not cut my dress and do not do anything to my zipper. '. I went back that same day because I felt unsettled and picked up my dress. To my shock and disbelief she had CUT the dress. I called the cleaners back to inform them and it was a cavalier response of 'are you sure?' Wow. Customer service? Not even an apology for her mistake. Prestige has consistently and reliably cleaned and laundered our clothes for nearly 30 years. In this time we have found the people there not only do an excellent job of cleaning and laundering our clothing, but to add a level of service rarely seen anymore. I do not believe a shirt has ever been returned by Prestige with a broken button (the reason we changed cleaners 30 years ago and a major annoyance when I was traveling frequently). Clothing seems to look good much longer. I hope the new owner will continue the excellent work of his two predecessors. read more

Recently had my son's North face jacket repaired (hood was half torn off) here. Voula the seamstress is AMAZING. We cannot even see where it had been torn at, it is factory fresh. They even cleaned it after the repair. Very impressed by the customer service and professionalism I always receive here. They are a touch more expensive than the quick cheap places but their work is immpeccable and I will gladly pay a little extra for quality. read more

If you like your clothes, do yourself a favor and take them to Prestige. I have been a customer for over a year. After a nearby "discount" dry cleaner ripped a shirt, pressed the lapels of a blazer wrong and got grease all over a pair of dress pants in the span of a couple of weeks, I had to find a better place. Yes, Prestige is expensive, but they offer exceptional service and do a meticulous job. If you buy good clothes and want them to last and look good, they are easily worth the money. read more

Super friendly, competent staff at the desk. One of my items was a dress that was basically one giant drink stain, and they got most of it out, at least enough that it's wearable (what's left's mostly hidden by pleats). Did a fine job on my husband's blazers, though I noticed a stain on one sleeve that hadn't been removed (I think you have to tell them specifically if you want a stain removed--they won't just search every garment for you). More expensive than I expected, but I've never used a dry cleaner before so maybe it's standard. I did get quotes beforehand, which was nice and allowed me to take back a couple items that weren't essential. read more

Really expensive. $17 to clean and press a pair of pants and $4 to clean and press a dress shirt. That is double the cost of other cleaners without a comparable double in the quality of the clean and press. Additionally, they proclaim to launder for free any item that losses a button during their service. Well, they lost my cuff button, replaced it with a front button and then charged me full price. The guy at the register was very pleasant, but does being nice justify exorbitant prices and substandard quality? I don't think so. read more

I have used Prestige for many years. They have always done an excellent job, although they are expensive. However, as sometimes happens for me, and maybe for others, I sometimes mislay tickets, and without the ticket to remind me, I forget to pick up clothes. In those cases, Prestige sells or donates my clothes to others. Often without even the courtesy of a phone call, Over the years I have lost hundreds of dollars in clothes to them. Since I have given them my most precious clothes, the things I've lost really hurt: the lining to a coat; a wonderful shirt my daughter game me; precious sweaters I brought from England. One case particularly stands out in my mind. In early January 2007, my wife was taken to the hospital with advanced cancer. I was distraught. I had a terrible car accident. For weeks she lingered and I wanted her to get well. For weeks I only went home to sleep; the rest of the time was in the hospital. Finally, on Feb. 8th that year she died. I was devastated. I saw nobody. I mourned. Eventually, in April, I recovered enough to try picking up my clothes. They said they did not have them. I had waited too long. I would not have known this but for a new employee. When I asked after my clothes, he recited the long list of garments which I no longer have, and which Prestige had previously claimed were not there. Apparently that list lingered on their computer, and for all I know, are still there. That day was the last day I brought clothes to them. What good is a marvelous cleaner without the common courtesy of a phone call? Its like the myth of Tantalus who tries to get the delicious fruit which always moves just out of reach. If you never have anything wrong in your life, and you can regularly keep the receipts without ever mislaying them, they might be Ok for you. But for the rest of us who live messy lives, be warned! read more

I learned of Prestige through a recommendation from my Bridal Salon. When I visited I quickly realized they specialized it restoring or treating valuable clothing items or heirlooms. I could tell right away that the business had been around for YEARS and was family-owned, even passed down from one family to another. I loved that about them immediately b/c it made me feel like they were invested in serving the best to their customers. I needed my sample sale gown cleaned to wear (not preserve). I was quoted a starting price over the phone of $250...which I felt was reasonable after calling around to several area dry cleaners. When I brought my gown, the lady hung it up high and fanned it out, lifting and marking all the soiled/stained spots, note any issues with the fabric, tears, etc. I was impressed as my alterations lady didn't even do that. The cleaners actually found a spot that my alterations lady missed and pointed it out to me. She stuck to the $250 price and told me it would be ready in one week. Amazing! In DC it's very easy to assume customer service will be bad and that you need to always be prepared to fight. No fighting on this day! I left feeling quite happy and eager to return the following week. Upon pick-up- my gown looked amazing. Fresh and fluffy- no joke. I watched her wrap it in plastic WITH white gloves on. Meanwhile the other gentleman assisted me by rearranging and making space in my backseat after I told him I planned to put the gown in the trunk. No way- together they carried and laid the gown flat across my back seat and that was it. Prestige has exceptional customer service, a great finished product and reasonable prices. I would definitely recommend them to another Bride if I had the opportunity. read more

The first time I walked in, they let me know they were a specialty cleaner and allowed me to walk out with no judgement because I couldn't afford their shop. Fast forward a few years and they see me pulling in, have my clean clothes ready, catch the ones I toss at them, and I'm in and out within 12 seconds flat. The lovely staff members greet me by name and wish me well. They make my weekly dry cleaning visit a pleasure, not a chore. read more

My family has been going to Prestige Dry Cleaners for over 20 years. We had had some bad luck with other dry cleaners in the area, and never a problem with Prestige. Once a button on my linen shift was damaged by the cleaning process and the owner drove over to G Street Fabrics and selected perfectly darling buttons to replace all the buttons. I don't have the dress, but I have the buttons. That is the kind of service you can expect from Prestige. They are pricey, but worth it. My husband and I would not consider going anywhere else. Also, there is never a chemical smell to your clothes. Prestige 'went green' long ago, before it was fashionable. I strongly recommend them if you have sensitive skin or allergies. read more

I would give this store a punch in the face instead of one star if I could. One of THE worst customer service experiences I have ever had, and that is saying a lot considering I've lived in DC for over five years. I had my wedding dress sent here to be cleaned at the recommendation of the shop where I got my dress. My dress had gotten a bit dirty around the hem when I wore it for my elopement ceremony and I wanted to get it spruced up before wearing it again at our post-elopement party. No need to get in to too many details, but you talk to three different people here and you get three different responses on the process AND the price. All they care about is getting your money, and every call the "quote" goes up. Not only that but I arrange to have them drop my dress after cleaning at the shop for my final alterations. I show up for my fitting and the dress HASN'T been dropped off! It was supposed to be dropped off days ago! So I have to waste more of my time because of these fools. I know all they care about is money, so I want some back to make it real/serious for them. I call and speak to Anthony, the manager, and exactly like my experience talking to Rochelle, he is rude and constantly interrupts me while I'm letting him know about my issues with the service. So constant that I have to YELL at him two times to let me finish speaking. All he can say is Rochelle had the wrong date in the books and they were scheduled to drop the dress off tomorrow - which by the way is NOT the date he told me Rochelle had supposedly written down so why do they have that date? Then I ask Anthony what he can do for me to fix this situation and all the moron cynically says is "well, I could offer my apologies." NOTE: at no point did he actually apologize! I am so livid with the people here, DO NOT use them. Customers cannot continue to support businesses like this and let them get away with treating people so poorly while not even doing their job in the process. Have respect for yourself and don't even bother trying this place. read more

I took my wedding dress here to be cleaned both before and after the wedding at the suggestion of a coworker. I bought it off the rack so there were a few spots on the bust and a general discoloration around the zipper in the back. I pointed all these out to them when I dropped it off and when it came back the discoloration on the back was gone, but the spots were still there on the front. Luckily it was a lacy pattern and I got creative and was able to get them out myself, but I was a little disappointed that Prestige couldn't take care of it for me. However, they only charged me for a gown, not the normal (crazy expensive) wedding dress price, because my dress was pretty simple and didn't have all the tulle and embroidery that you usually see on wedding dresses, so I saved a boatload and was so grateful! I brought it back during a 25% off sale and had to haggle a bit to get the gown price again (luckily I brought my receipt from last time and that convinced them to do it again), which was a tad annoying, but I get it. I had completely destroyed the bottom of the dress with dirt and grime because it had been dragging behind me all day, so they warned me that it was likely they wouldn't be able to get it all out. I was pleasantly surprised when I got it back - it looked really good! You can only see some dirt if you get really close and it's mainly on the underside of the lace, which was dirtiest. I was pleased with the end result - both the price and how clean they managed to get it. A traditional wedding dress would cost a lot more though, so keep that in mind, but if you have a pretty simple or straight dress, ask for the gown price! read more
