Upon receiving my dress after the initial cleaning, I was dismayed to find that not only was the stain still present, but the string that held my dress together was missing. I promptly returned to the cleaners to express my concerns and request they rectify the situation. At first, they assured me they would search for the missing string and attempt to remove the stain once again. I reluctantly agreed, hoping they would make amends. However, when I came back for the second time, it became evident that they had done nothing to address my dress's issues, let alone find the missing string. Instead of admitting their incompetence and taking responsibility for their actions, they resorted to deception. They claimed they had located the missing string. Upon returning home and closely inspecting my dress, I discovered that the cleaners had taken drastic measures without my consent. They had cut a noticeable seam down the front of my dress to create a makeshift string using the dress's own material. This reckless and unauthorized alteration had ruined the dress entirely, leaving it beyond repair and unwearable. The blatant disregard for my property, the lack of honesty, and the shoddy attempt to cover up their mistakes are appalling. Instead of being upfront with me, they chose to lie, leading to the irreparable destruction of my dress. I cannot express how disheartened and upset I am about this entire experience. Strong recommendation to avoid. I used them to clean a suit, which was free of stains. It had simply been worn several times and needed a cleaning. The suit was returned to me with multiple ink stains that must have happened sometime after I dropped the suit off. When I raised it with the dry cleaner, the owner said that the replacement cost of the suit was too high. In short, the dry cleaner stained the suit during the cleaning process and then didn't accept responsibility for the damage. In 25 years of visiting dry cleaners, I've never had an experience like this. AVOID. read more

I am a new client. I used Metro Valet (at SS metro) preciously, but a recent move put this business closer. The hours are 10am to 6pm Mon-Sat, closed on Sunday. My initial visit was for an emergency alteration (the zipper on my winter coat broke/I couldn't take my coat off!) There is one woman that seems to be front of the house (the receipt notes her name as "Sunny"). She is extremely friendly, personable, and kind. She apologized saying her sister may be able to look at it later in the week - my guess is she does the alterations for the business. I didn't end up returning for the alteration, but the very positive interaction made me bring my hand-woven, queen-sized quilt in for its biannual clean ($40) and a wool sweater ($7.85). The same woman was very happy and thankful for my business as a new customer. The prices were minimally cheaper than my previous dry cleaner. It took nearly the same amount of time to get the items back. The results were comparable. I am very satisfied and happy to return for my dry cleaning needs. I have no comment on alterations at this time. read more

Awful experience from multiple visits. Had to get a dress shirt sleeves and body shortened about a half inch. Got the shirt back with basically laughable proportions. Cut more than 2 inches out of both sleeves and body. Asked to have all the buttons replaced on a shirt since I had repeat button breakages. Figured I'd switch up the color from brown to blue buttons while I was at it. Got the shirt back with all BLACK buttons and the sleeves still had the original brown buttons. Third and final trip was something as simple as getting a wool coat dry cleaned. Came back with an awful chemical/cigarette type of smell that I honestly can't get rid of. Took it back to the shop to speak to the staff about a potential solution and all I got was arguing. Rude, inconsiderate, and honestly just bad at the most basic services. read more

Went here the first time because it's right across the street from my apartment. Location is modern, well-kept and professional in appearance. Friendly staff and convenient hours. Dry-cleaning prices are reasonable and they do good work. The only reason I can't give 5-stars is on my last visit I was kept waiting for several minutes as the woman behind the counter carried on a conversation over the phone (... kinda rude.) Other than that, I'd recommend VIP to anyone who lives in the Downtown Silver Spring area or works in the NOAA complex and is looking for a good dry-cleaning service. read more

Although VIP does an admirable job with dry cleaning and apparently features a wide array of cleaning services (coats, leather, blankets, etc.), the reason I keep returning is 2-fold--polite service with relatively quick turn-around times and a lucrative special: any dry cleaning over $20 (e.g., 2 men's suits) is 30% off if brought in on Wednesdays and Saturdays. This cleaners ruin my dress and refuse to compensate me, They washed a 100% silk evening gown and was really nasty. They are the worst they only offer me the cost I paid to clean it. Unacceptable! I have patronized VIP cleaners for the location but today was my last day. There is no reason why they charge much more than other cleaners and you get the same service. Awhile back, I asked them to replace a zipper on a light jacket and though it was expensive, I paid. The result was a poor job with inferior zipper. I returned today to ask them to replace zipper on my winter coat and the woman told me it would be cheaper to buy another coat. I asked her how much and she said $70 and had a dismissive attitude. I went to another cleaners who charged half that price, had me choose the zipper I wanted and explained what would be done. I have tolerated this cleaners for the location but that's over. There's no reason to be greedy when you don't offer a unique service. I'd recommend that customers go to other cleaners or shop around for prices. I'd rather drive further than give this cleaner any more of my money. read more

I have used this cleaners since I moved to this area which has been about a year. Needless to say, I will not be going back. I'm tired of giving businesses my hard earned money for poor service. For one they charge too much and half the time I find marks on my clothes. They have a special in which you pay 30% off on certain days and for a while I continued to patronize them because they are walking distance to my apt. Today was the icing on the cake, I put my wedding dress in for dry-cleaning and sewing and she told me I would receive a discount since I dropped it off on the designated disc day despite her not typing it on the slip."No problem, no problem" This was a late Saturday. On Monday, I came back because I told her that if the discount did not apply to the dress I wouldn't get it dry cleaned because it was too much. She told me to come back the next day to pick up the dress because the discount could not be applied. When I returned she was with a customer and alone and because I couldn't wait while she was doing an alteration I decided to return on my next day off. Well when I came back to pick up the dress she had the dress sent out to be cleaned anyway and told me she could not honor the price of the 30%. I told her I would not be coming back to this place for not honoring her word and for cleaning my dress without my approval. All she cared about was collecting a bill. In no way did she take ownership for her mistake. When I looked them up on the BBB, I see that this dry cleaners is not even accredited from the better business bureau due to other complaints and mis information....Proceed with caution! read more
