The first time they tell you to put the dirty laundry in garbage bags, then send it home in a large blue bag with the pink tag

Our washer broke and it's been a journey to replace it. We've used Laundry Mom's services 3 times now and couldn't be happier. They pick up in the morning on your porch, send you an invoice via email and text to let you know when it's been sent, you pay, and they drop off the next day everything folded and smelling lovely. I coordinate everything via text. They will ask you to put the laundry unsorted in garbage bag for the first pickup then They provide a large blue bag after your first pickup and Inside the clothes are in bags, nicely folded and sealed from the elements. Note they don't operate on weekends. It's been such a life saver (possibly literally) during a pandemic not to have to go to the laundromat.

    The largest comforter.

Let's talk about it. I have a preemie who was born 6 weeks early and I had just moved a week and a half before he was born. Some of my clothes were a bit stale after having been in storage and I wasn't trying to wash 50lbs (my estimate) of clothes. I had the site pulled up to send a message, but decided to call. I called at 11:49am on Thursday, no answer. I sent the message. Ruby actually called me back at 11:52am. It took 3 minutes to set up a pick up (Thursday morning). Ruby also responded to my email at 1:45pm. Oh, look, a business in the DC area that actually wants to do business. I bagged, in trash bags, and labeled my 51lbs (per the invoice, damn I'm good!) of laundry and two comforters. Hauled it outside to my porch Wednesday night and it was gone by the time I opened my door Thursday morning at 8:30am. Ruby sent a text at 11:37am Thursday asking how I'd like to pay-paypal or credit card. I chose credit card and she sent me an invoice immediately. My clothes were back on my porch (wrapped and in an actual bag from them) Thursday night. My sanity is worth $96.69 ($1.39/lb for the wash and fold, $19.99 each for the comforters with 20% off for new customers).

Ask the Community - Laundry Mom

I have a lot of clothes that cannot go in the dryer and of course some that can. Does Laundry Mom accept articles of clothing that should skip the dryer?

I wanted to ORDER some laundry help for daughter-in-law in Hyattsville. You pick up and deliver? How should she have it prepared for you? In bags? I have to ask permission first making ahead of order.

I used my own laundry bag for the initial pickup and they provided their bag upon return.

Since becoming a single mom, their pickup and fold service has become an absolute game changer for me. I work full-time and juggle my toddler's busy schedule, so finding time for laundry can be tough -- but they make it effortless... not to mention my laundry feels clean! I've used Rinse but American Mega is way better. The staff is always kind, professional, and reliable. A special shoutout to Tony, the delivery driver -- he's incredibly courteous and always goes the extra mile. It's rare to find a business that treats customers like family, but American Mega Laundromat truly does. From the outside it appears to be clean, inviting, and never busy. Once I arrived, it was very clean, smelled good, organized, excellent service from the staff, and it was very spacious. Bonus to this place is that it is not coin operated. You will need to purchase a laundry card and add the funds . . . how neat! In hindsight the machine in my building not working saved me from walking up & down the steps and only doing 2 loads at a time. I arrived at 11 and was back home by 1:35 and that was after washing, folding, putting clothes in bag, and walking to the carry-out and liquor store. I might ditch the convenience of washing clothes again in my building and go to the neighborhood laundry mat and get it done much faster!

I went to call the guy for help and I said hello to him, he didn't say anything back. I went to the machine and he followed me and tried to start it but it didn't work so he restarted the machine. He then walked away from me not saying anything so I kept saying "excuse me, excuse me" and he just kept walking. He finally turned around and I asked him was he going to refund me the money the card took, he said that was what he was going to do....WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY ANYTHING THEN?? He came back and restarted the machine and it was still giving the same error message. He then told me to move my clothes to a different machine and I was trying to explain to him that I already put the soap in the machine and he just kept repeating "move it to another machine then proceed to yell at me "what did I say!?" and that I don't listen and started pulling his ear while yelling at me that I don't listen. That was utterly rude...I am not his child and there was no reason for him to get loud and disrespectful with me.

He mopped up quickly, he told me it was going to take no less than 30 minutes of drying on low (very true). He was running the place efficiently. I had seen a couple of positive reviews on yelp but I was still a bit apprehensive about whether the place would be very clean ... the place is spotless. An older Asian man (possibly the owner) and a younger Hispanic? woman were working while I was there. They were constantly walking around, checking on all of the machines. I saw them both cleaning and wiping surfaces and the woman also climbed up on a step stool to clean the dispenser above the washer where the detergent and other items are poured in. They both were friendly and responsive. Getting quarters was convenient. They also have a small store with lots of cleaning related items but I did not check it out. There are carts that seem to be of similar quality to grocery carts. One minor peeve was that the dryer seemed to eat up my quarters without registering any time on the dial. A young woman client took pity on me and showed me how to retrieve my money.

Going in, I had NO idea what to do or what things would cost. A fellow customer advised me to use the extra large washers. I learned later that I added waaaaay too much cleanser. I could go on about my series of unfortunate events (doors not closing, suds everywhere, water on the floor- all user error), but I digress. With all of my angst and mishaps, at every turn, there was someone to assist me, and mostly without asking! There are vending machines, a television, a few arcade games, a store and a counter to purchase detergents. There are little separation areas to keep you from feeling overwhelmed. My rug didn't ring properly, so my drying time was well over 1.5 hours, but that was because of the padding on the rug. I'm here on a Sunday morning. It is not crowded. There were some language barriers, but that didn't stop the staff from eagerly coming over to help me. You guys know I appreciate exceptional customer service! My only criticism (and it's slight) is what's going on in each phase of the wash cycle is not clearly marked. I would return.
