I have been coming to Prestige Dental for 15 years and have had regular teeth cleanings, a skin graft, and a flawless front crown done. I actually enjoy coming to the dentist because of the fine quality and care at Prestige Dental! The owner who is also the lead Dental Medical Doctor is Dr. Makagon. She is highly knowledgeable, current on the latest advances in treatments, invests in new technologies, stays informed on research and education topics, and is a class act all around. Dr. Makagon is also a great person who donates time to the nonprofit KIDS International Dental Services and served in Guatemala with the organization. The operations leader, Tamra, is so professional, skilled, thorough and caring. All of the staff are wonderful and the RDH, Lisa, has a wealth of knowledge. The office is also beautiful and inviting. I've been going to Prestige for the past 10 years. I'm happy with the level of care they provide. If there were such a thing as luxury or high end practices this is it... valet parking, neck warmers, media entertainment, excellent follow up and follow through, strict cancellation policies, docs and hygienists who don't seem excessively overworked, a focus on preventative measures, and a nice office space and atmosphere. That said, if you go to a high end restaurant and just eat the bread then you might get a raised brow. If your willing to spend the money on good care then you'll get your money's worth. A word about Tamara as I see negative reviews here. Tamara works hard to keep everything and everyone in good order. The way I see it, the docs, hygienists, and receptionists are all catering to the patients. They do this well. Tamara is the one person who doesn't cater to us and I'm not so sure she needs to given her financial coordinator position. She's blunt and can be insistent but if you don't take it personally then you might find her refreshing. I find her easy to deal with and have never had a problem. read more

Dr. Makagon was incredibly patient, welcoming and made me feel comfortable during every procedure at Prestige Dental. I was inclined to continue my treatment plan at Prestige, but extremely turned off my Tamara at the front desk. She was condescending and rude. I had multiple scheduling issues that cause changes in my appointments and felt very belittled by her commentary and lack of flexibility in accommodating an appointment change. It's a shame as I would have continued to be a loyal patient if every interaction with Tamara had not been so negative. read more

Two stars for the hygienist that was wonderful at her job and very kind and careful in my several times coming to this office. Unfortunately, similar to the other low reviews, I stopped going to this dentist office as the doctor and front office woman were incredibly pushy in upselling procedures and products even after several times of clearly declining. The front desk woman especially is berating and rude and I, in time, did not feel comfortable further co-signing on a health plan with this care team. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and I returned for a few cleanings as mentioned, the hygienist was wonderful, but ultimately did not feel like this doctor had my best interest in mind and more so focused on her bottom line. With several other top rated dentist offices in the area, I'd recommend another office if you're in SLU. read more

Prestige Dental is a wonderful place that takes care of any dental needs with spa like environment. I was warmly greeted, asked for my car keys in case I wanted to valet it free of charge. The office has luxury modern style design and it smelled like a spa with very nice aroma. They took xray of my mouth and also used a special camera to take many detailed pictures, I had a cleaning done which was painless and thorough. I was provided with recommendations of further procedures for preventative measures. The dental chairs are very comfortable with cushy, luxury leather. It feels like a Dental Spa because they not only take care of the teeth, but also provide neck wrap, paraffin hand treatments and have tvs with Netflix movies, etc. for entertainment. Dr. is very good in her field of expertise, loves her patients, always on their side, saves teeth when other drs couldn't. I would highly recommend them to anybody who needs any dental procedures done! read more

I haven't written a yelp review in a decade, but this needs to be said... Look, everything about this dentist is fantastic. As someone who deals with a frustrating amount of anxiety over going to the dentist, this is the first place I've ever been where I can get through it. Bella is great. her hygienists are great, everything about the actual dentistry experience is acceptable, which coming from me is as glowing of a review as i can give about a place where you pay money to have someone stick power tools in your mouth. So why the one star review you ask? well, if you're reading the other reviews, i'll give you one guess: Tamara. I can't even put into words how miserable of an experience it is to deal with this level of open hostility from a person who's job revolves around customer service. I get that she's family, but for goodness' sake, Bella, talk to your mother. it's out of control. it almost makes removing my teeth with rusty pliers seem like an option to consider simply to avoid ever needing to go back. We arrived in Seattle ten years ago and found Prestige Dental. Since then, our dental care has been nothing short of exceptional. Dr. Makagon and her entire team have provided the finest care on all fronts. As a senior citizen, I've been treated by dentists and their teams across a long expanse of years and geographies. This team at Prestige has outperformed every dental "experience" in terms of professional dental care, office management and billing administration. Each of Dr. Makagon's colleagues and assistants are friendly, professional and loyal to both the patient and the Prestige team. I appreciate the fact that Dr. Makagon has at times been persistent in recommending certain services for optimal dental health. She has invested a great deal of effort in knowing and delivering the most updated dental care, and her patients' dental health has always been at the top of her mind when recommending procedures. Thank you, Dr. Makagon. As for the rest of the team, Tamara has always been pleasant yet efficient in ensuring that patients are able to receive the appropriate and timely dental insurance transactions for the care rendered. This is no easy task, as insurers are particularly demanding in terms of details and coverage requirements. I appreciate Tamara's attention to detail as well as her passing information necessary for patient understanding. Let's face it, Tamara is charged with balancing the business and the dental care ends of the clinic. I suggest that there are those who may not understand or appreciate that role. Sure, the lady at the front desk is condescending and rude. I looked past it and accepted the fact that she might be part of a family-owned business and that she'll be staying put until the doors close for good. My real issue with this place stems from the pushiness and desire to up-sell you on everything, akin to used car salesperson. Having recently moved to Seattle and now on this planet over thirty years, I've never had any issues with my teeth (no cavities, no gum disease, etc.) On my first visit to Prestige for my routine bi-annual cleaning, they attempted to take me to the cleaners: I was told I needed needed 4 cavities filled (what?), a $150 electric toothbrush, Invisalign, and given a referral to a periodontist for gum recession beneath 6 of my teeth. The icing on the cake was when they asked me to prepay for the 4 fillings to be completed during my next visit. When the hell have you ever prepaid for anything at a dentist's office? Nonetheless, I received a second opinion from another dentist a few blocks down who told me my teeth were in great shape (no cavities) and to simply calm down on my aggressive brushing. I get it - the receptionist comes across as rude and unprofessional but she definitely does not mean to be. She has gone out of the way with me several times to work around my schedule and she is very, very good at her job. I left my guitar at their place ones and she took care to keep it in the head dentist office so that it's not stolen. I think her personality is just much more straightforward than Seattle-ites are used to...she'd be fine in NYC. I like this place - everyone is very, very qualified and professional. They are also very clean. I am however dinging one star because they do have the tendency to upsell. I can't tell how much of it I actually need and how much is upselling (the last time I went to a dentist was when I was 11...18 years ago!)...it does seem extreme at times. First of all, I would like to say that I have never given a bad review in my life, but I feel that I must speak out about my horrible experience at Prestige Dental. TL;DR: Prestige Dental is a scam. Avoid this place at all costs. I have never had such a rude and hostile feeling customer service experience. The person in charge of billing, Tamara, has been extremely unprofessional, and is unable to do the very basics of her job, which is to coordinate with insurance to work out the costs for the patient. It feels like Tamara pulls numbers out of thin air when deciding what to charge me for a procedure, even though it is literally her job to know what the charge should be. I have only had 2 procedures done by Prestige, and both times Tamara has overcharged me. It took over 6 months for me to see any kind of credit toward my account for the first overcharge. For the second overcharge, I am fighting a real battle to get my money back. This second overcharge is what prompted me to write this review. Here are the facts: 1. Tamara scheduled an appointment for periodontal surgery for my receding gums a little more than a month in advance. She said she would contact me once she found out how much it would cost (Note: after reading other Yelp reviews, I am questioning whether or not I even needed this surgery, or if Prestige was trying to make more money off of me) 2. 10 days before my appointment, my insurance company sends the cost estimates over to Prestige, and it estimates only a $150 cost to me. 3. 2 days before my appointment, Tamara calls me and tells me that she is not sure how much the procedure will cost, and says she thinks it should cost about $450. **This is a lie, as she has already seen the estimate from my insurance.** She also asks me to pay a $100 deposit to reserve my appointment, which is I think strange, but I pay it. 4. I get my surgery done as scheduled. After the appointment, Tamara calls me into her office, and charges me an additional $275, which is less than the $450 she estimated. I am initially happy with this. 5. I receive my EOB 2 weeks later, and find that I should have only paid $150. 6. I confront Tamara about this, and instead of refunding me, she charges me even more. She says that Prestige was expecting to get more money from my insurance for this procedure, even though she already knew how much my insurance was going to pay. I eventually end up paying, but leave in a very dazed and confused state. 7. I contact my insurance company, and they confirm the that all of the charges that were on the EOB are correct. They tell me that if Prestige charged me anything above that $150, Prestige needs to refund me for that overcharge. 8. I go back into Prestige hoping to clear everything up with Tamara and get my money back, and she refuses to refund me anything. She blames everything on my insurance company, and starts bashing them to me. Tamara is holding my money hostage until everything gets resolved with my insurance company, which could take months!! The takeaway: Prestige scammed me into paying a lot more for a periodontal procedure even though they had the correct estimate of costs from my insurance all along. Tamara has been rude and unprofessional during the whole process, and will not refund my money. Needless to say, I will not be returning. I just want my money back, and then Prestige can kindly exit my life. read more

The worst experience. They ignore email, and do not explain your bill questions. They told me I have balance issue, but only send me half records (not all of records) of your account. The half records not match my issuance record, and visa transaction. Then I send email to ask them to explain the confused records, never get response. And send again and again to notice you have balance issue. And email you if you do not pay, they will take "further action". I just want to get a explanation of records before I pay it. Dr. Makagon is literally the best dentist I've ever had in my life. I have so many dental problems stemming from a teenage accident resulting in multiple oral surgeries and crowns over the course of the past 30+ years. Dr. Makagon has been so helpful in fixing previous problems and strategizing long term solutions and I couldn't be happier with the result. In addition she is super nice, caring and an overall awesome person. I highly recommend seeing her if you have dental issues or just want a really great dentist for preventative measures. read more

I am so done with this office. I have been misquoted for the same procedure THREE times. First, they told me it would be ~$500, then they came back and said that that quote was just for one portion and that the procedure itself was a separate $500. I've paid two separate "deposits" for this procedure, only to be told that $150 of that was "absorbed" by another procedure that was not part of the original quote. You can see how ridiculous this is. Also, I know people are praising the doctor and making just Tamara out as the villain, but I'm pretty sure the doctor is just as shady. In her waiting room she has sample Sonicare toothbrushes and mouthguards for teeth grinders. Wouldn't you know it, the doctor says I "grind my teeth" and should get the sonicare toothbrush. How convenient. I'm surprised she didn't try to get me to get invisalign since she also sells that too. However, I do agree that Tamara is extremely condescending. She acts like I don't understand what she's trying to explain, when in reality, i'm just tired of hearing her explanation. All I know is that i'm out $1000 and I have to go through with the procedure because they didn't pull the bait and switch on me until AFTER she had removed my crown and put in a temporary one. I told her I was done and that I'd go through with the procedure but wouldn't be returning and she had the nerve to call me and ask if I wanted to talk to the Doctor. NO, i'm DONE! I don't want to hear the same explanation just from a different person. Unless you're going to offer me a way to get my money back, stop calling. read more

TL;DR Prestige dental is a big scam, avoid. Wow, I casually came here browsing reviews and it seems like everbody else has the exact same issue with this clinic, namely "Tamara", who is in charge of billing/insurance (and would be your first POC for everything). My main issue with "Tamara" is that she is money-minded. At the end of the day, you leave the clinic feeling that they are trying to mint as much money as possible from you. Let me explain just one instance after which I cancelled all my appointments with them (I had cleaning scheduled every 3 months with them and overall I have visited them at least 5 times for different procedures). I just got a really costly treatment done, which after insurance costed me around $500. Even after the treatment, I was told to do another treatment which would further cost $200. I told Tamara, that I was not interested in this treatment and not to book any appointment (but I still had those free cleaning appointments scheduled every 3 months). Nearing one of the free cleaning appointments, I wanted to reschedule and called their office. The receptionist told me that the coming appointment was for the 'procedure' and not the cleaning. I got so furious, I told the receptionist to connect to Tamara and I confronted her. She said that I must have schedule whereas I explictly told not to do it. After that I told her to cancel any further appointments and also give me in writing because I don't trust them. The dentists are very good and professional. Even the receptionist is sweet and helpful. This clinic is suffering because of 'Tamara'. I can see reviews back from 2017 so I am not sure what this clinic doing. I really like this place and have been coming here for a few years now. They are very professional and honest with how much you need to pay. They have helped with insurance estimates for all the work that I needed. They ask you to prepay for your visits and at first, I didn't get it but it's part of doing business which I understand. The hygienists are very knowledgeable and teach you to care about your teeth. I recommend it to everyone if you care about your health. I've been a patient with Dr Makagon for about 4 years now and I hope to continue for many more. Professionally, Dr Makagon and her staff are very knowledgeable, and pay close attention to the entire experience. I've had everything from general cleanings to a crown to Invisalign and every time you are treated like the most important person in the room. An actual person, they care about your comfort and explaining exactly what is going to happen and why. Even when doing major work they are gentle and not invasive. Personally I can tell you this office is run by people who truly care about each other and their patients. They are warm and genuine. They ask your opinion about your treatment plan when it comes to cosmetic adjustments and your comfort level. Today I transitioned into my long term retainers after Invisalign. I am thrilled with the outcome - even better than I had hoped for. We corrected not just the cosmetic appearance, but actual structural function of my bite. The service is good and the clinic is clean. However, in terms of their financial policy, I got charged $100 during my first visit for reserving the next appointment (and i didn't get that back in my second visit, instead it was rolled over to my next next appointment). Follow-up: Dr. Makagan called me to clarify things and is willing to refund me the reservation fee, which I appreciate. My sincere advice is that their financial policy should make it clear on the reservation fee (prepayment) so that people can make a more informed decision. read more

Yup you guessed it... as other reviews have stated this place has a huge issue with Tamara who is in charge of billing. The dentist and other staff are wonderful... only to be ruined at the end by TAMARA. Every time I go in to that office she talks to me like I'm stupid. I've never been to a dentist that charges the patients so much upfront before even billing insurance. I now have switched dentist due to my last visit being the worst. On my way out a nice woman helped me after a cleaning and said I was free to go. Then enters TAMARA and that is where it all went south. She re-pulls my file and said I owe for Fluoride (which I didn't even get during this cleaning) and then said I need to pay out of pocket just in case insurance doesn't cover. I fought her on this and so did the other woman working there. It was the strangest experience ever. I told her "you bill my insurance and if they don't cover it, then I will pay" she got upset and red in the face because I wouldn't let her take money from me upfront. She said if I paid she would refund me if insurance covered. I still said no. So she looked and told me " you have to pay its policy" - it wasn't policy. It's her wanting to be in control. Please stay far away from here. I have already left them and warned other friends in the area to avoid them. I feel bad for the rest of the team who has to put up with her. Advice for the dentist... I know Tamara might be a relative and you want to help her by employing her, but your business is suffering because of her horrendous attitude. So judging by the other 1 star reviews, it seems everyone has similar issues with the receptionist/Billings person Tamara. I don't know why she hasn't been fired already, but I highly suspect she's family of the head dentist there. This place is horrendous. I have no complaints about the actual dentistry, but the lady that handles billing (Tamara) is a terrible person. She is incompetent, mean, condescending, and every bad word for a person I can think of. I had my wisdom teeth extracted here; the actual procedure was wonderful, but Tamara initially quoted $500 out of pocket for this procedure, but ended up charging me A THOUSAND. This should be unacceptable and I should have learned my lesson and never came back, but today I took another shot and came here for my routine cleaning. Before doing any procedures, I specifically took the time to ask Tamara if my cleaning today was covered by my insurance. I know my insurance has a $2000 annual limit which I already exceeded with my wisdom teeth extraction, but was unsure if the routine dental cleanings are outside of this amount. Tamara looked on her computer and told me that everything I was doing today would be covered by insurance. Well, after I did my cleaning and came back out, Tamara tells me that it was NOT covered by insurance and that I would have to pay out of pocket. Luckily, the dentist was nice enough to say that they will not be charging me today because of Tamara's mistake before (she knew I specifically asked about my insurance coverage before beginning any procedures). Tamara then had the gall to accuse me of purposely lying about my insurance to get a free service out of them!!! I don't know if Tamara is negligent, shady, or just plain stupid. Me and my hubby have been going to Dr Mackagon pretty much since we moved to Seattle. She and all of her staff are simply amazing -- always polite and kind, never trying to push you something you don't need. Finally I'm not scared of dentists =). Right now both me and my husband are going through Invisalign, and all the staff has been so caring. Regular check-ups are also included with this treatment, we're super excited. And as for the office. It's also very nice, clean and the atmosphere is relaxing. You always get warm neck wrap (which I adore) and unlimited access to Netflix and HBO while in the dentist's chair. read more

Dr. Makagon and her staff are the best! Highly recommend. I've been going to Dr. Makagon for the past few years and she is the most knowledgeable and kindest dentist I've had as a provider. I've been to some dentists where they want to push unnecessary dental products on you like whitening. She actually told me I didn't need it and just focused on the treatment I did need. I trust her judgment when it comes to my healthcare. She and her staff and are never put out by the questions I have and always work to address any concerns about a procedure. This is a dentist you want to have on your side. Her staff is also great. Very kind and accommodating front office staff. They really work to accommodate any schedule changes I have and are clear when it comes to insurance benefits and out-of-pocket expenses. I think the staff really works hard to do right by the customer, always. As for the office experience. It's very relaxing. When you walk in the front waiting room feels more like a spa than a doctor's office. There are magazines of course but also water and coffee. The dentist, periodontist, and hygienist are fine. BUT, the financial coordinator, Tamara, is HORRIBLE. I need to get a dental implant and I chose this place because it's close to work and opens early. After I had my appointment with my periodontist, Dr. Quinn, and had my CT scan, he said that I will only need a simple implant with no need for bone graft or tissue graft. Dr. Quinn and I sat down with Tamara, he informed her that I don't need bone graft or tissue graft. A month later, I got an estimate that required my signature which included full price bone graft and tissue graft (Over TWICE the price of the simple implant). I immediately reminded her of our conversation and asked her to check with Dr. Quinn. Additionally, I requested that Dr. Quinn call me back. Instead of getting a phone call the periodontist, Tamara told me on the phone that although the doctor say I don't need the various grafts, they include it in the estimate because the doctor can "choose" to put it in during the oral surgery without my consent. Tamara than proceeded to tell me her story of her "nose surgery", during her surgery her doctors discovered additional "problems", performed additional surgery without her consent, and when she woke up, she got an extra $5500 bill. Next she proceed to demand that I pay up front before my entire surgery to "hold" my appointment. This is a nightmare situation, therefore, I asked for my CT scan so that I can take them to another doctor. She proceeded to give me a story about how the files are too big to be transferred, they will have to call their IT company, it's not immediately available, and they will have to charge me $150-$200 (In addition the the initial $500 that I paid for my CT scan!). As a postdoctorate clinical research scientist at Fred Hutch, I am well versed in patient inform and consent! I told her that if I were to get the surgery at Prestige Dental, I need full disclosure: written document stating the exact procedures that will be performed and an agreement that they will need my consent to perform additional procedures during the surgery. Tamara proceeded to insult me by saying I am too emotional, taking it personal, and childish. She is obviously not used an assertive patients who actually read all the fine prints. I had an appointment scheduled weeks in advance. One week before, I received a call from Prestige asking to confirm my appointment. However, as I was out of town I was unable to return the call. Instead, I responded via email (3 days prior) and also via their auto text confirmation service. One day before, I received a text from Prestige confirming my appointment. I then found out on the day of, that they double booked my appointment and cancelled it without informing me. I wouldn't normally go out of my way to write a negative review about a business, but in this case I have to. I had one dental appointment at Prestige because it was near my office. This was over one year ago. The appointment was normal, no complaints. I switched to another dentist because I moved to another part of town. The real problem is the customer service. When I moved, I forgot about the 6-month follow up Prestige had scheduled for me and had to cancel it when they reminded me. I called to tell them I had switched dentists, and they scolded me for not canceling early enough. The receptionist was rude to me, but I let it go because I had probably inconvenienced them. They continued to contact me via email and phone for months, asking me to schedule more appointments. A few months ago I asked them to please stop contacting me, as I no longer wanted to be a client and had found a new dentist. Today, I received another message from them making vague comments about statements on my account and how I need to call them back. It has been over a year since I received service from them and paid for it, and this is ridiculous. When someone decides not to be your customer anymore, you can't harass them into returning. When I moved to Seattle 3 years ago I needed a lot of help with my teeth after being somewhat negligent for a couple years earlier. There's a stigma about dentists that they will scold you about your bad home dental care, but Dr. Makagon and her staff were very educational and helpful. After looking at my teeth, Dr. Makagon told me I may need one or two root canals, but wanted to try fillings and some treatment first. I'm very pleased to report the treatment worked and after a few relatively pain-free appointments (where I can watch Netflix/Hulu/Twitch on TV's that hang over the "operating chairs") and stepping up my home care I now have healthy teeth and all my trips to this office now are for routine checkups and cleanings. I'm very grateful to Dr. Makagon and the staff for top notch care. I see some other comments about Tamara, and I have only had good experiences with her. I find her nice and we have little chats while finalizing payment and setting up the next visit. I think all of the staff here is very friendly and skilled, especially Dr. Makagon on both fronts. As long as I'm working or living near South Lake Union I don't plan on changing dentists. read more

Prestige Worldwide ... I'm sorry ... Prestige Dental is, as another reviewer said, a "premium" dentist. Although "premium" might have a connotation of being snooty, which it is absolutely not. I've had three exams at Dr. Makagon and have always been thoroughly impressed with every detail and interaction. It starts with free valet service outside. When you walk in, there is complimentary coffee on top of a wine fridge stocked with bottled water. The front desk greets you by name, and as you take your seat in the waiting area you might see a friendly pooch, or a child playing in the kid-activity nook. When you're brought into the exam area, someone will probably offer you a headset so you can watch Hulu (I got through a good portion of "The Avengers" during my first visit), possibly a hot neck wrap or a blanket, and the necessary sunglasses. The hygienists I have seen are first class. They have a unique empathy for what might feel startling or uncomfortable, but I've never experienced any discomfort even from those bulky mouth inserts needed for x-rays. I don't know how they do this. You walk out with the usual goody bag, possibly including a few extra goodies like Xylitol for gargling away your tonsil stones. (TMI?) If you commonly forget appointments, they can call, send a postcard, and text to make sure you don't have to store that pesky information in your brain. Though they only see me every six months, I already feel like they know me personally. Love everything about the place. read more

I really hate the idea of bashing someone's business, but this one needed to be said. I honestly should have gone with my gut reaction the first time I went there. Should have immediately left and never turned back. The hygienist that I saw was fine, she was knowledgeable and thoughtful in their approach. However, the person I can only assume to be the billing or patient coordinator is very difficult to work with. Not only did she treat me with disdain until I mentioned where I work (why does that make any difference??), she spent most of the time acting as though my insurance wasn't real and barely tried to find out what the issue was until a week after I was told they would check on it, and only then because I was back in the office for a cleaning and demanded to know why it hadn't been checked yet as promised. *Just FYI Prestige, a good dentist office will help patients navigate issues and not ignore them and say "It's your insurance, you figure it out". After fixing the issue with insurance I chose to go to a different dentist office that my coworkers go to. When the new dentist reached out with a signed consent form to forward x-rays it was denied at first because it wasn't Prestige's form. While I understand that they may want to make sure what they accept is up to current HIPPA regulations, you would think that would be given as a reason rather than apparently acting rude. It felt like they were trying to be difficult. I can second the other reviews that mention a $150 fee to "be absorbed" into other services. Nothing is worth this frustration, save your sanity and go elsewhere. read more

I really like this dentists facility. Before I came I didn't go to the dentist for almost 5 years and I was nervous but they did a wonderful job on my teeth that I feel uncomfortable going anywhere else. They have a wonderful updated facility, clean and organize, and the people that work there are very kind and they put my best interest before theirs. They have affordable paying plans that anyone is able to pay. Overall they are really a well organized and professional dentist office. read more

As a nervous dental patient who needed a cleaning I took a lot of time reading reviews about different dentists in Seattle on Zocdoc. I found Dr. Makagon only had good reviews, so I decided to make an appointment with her. I can say with certainty that was the best dental decision of my life! The only words I can think of to describe the staff at Prestige Dental are "professional" and "caring". They all work so hard to make all of their patients comfortable and informed. From Jordan, the receptionist, to all of the hygienists everyone's bar level is set to perfection. They are so warm and accommodating, I truly don't think there is anything that they wouldn't do to make sure that each patient gets the best service. Dr. Makagon is a dream. Her maternal bedside manner shines through from the moment you meet her. Dr. Makagon is so sensitive to all of her patients needs and worries- she will do anything to keep her patients informed, healthy, and happy. She also makes herself available to clients by booking appoints starting in the early morning to even being open on Saturdays. In addition, she doesn't stop caring after you leave. I have personally received many calls from her, after appointments and procedures, just to check up on how I am doing/feeling. Prestige Dental truly offers the best; the best services, the best quality staff, the best distractions for nervous patience (i.e. spa like services, roku set up at every dental chair), vllet parking, and much, much more! Prestige Dental is the luxury spa of Dentists. Valet Parking, amazing staff, beautiful office, the latest equipment. What more could you ask for? It gets better. The first time I came in for a cleaning they set me up with a personal tv, headphones, and a remote. Now all that nervousness about the dentist poking around my mouth is gone as I'm sucked into Netflix. They offered me a heating pad for my shoulders. It makes going to the dentist relaxing and fun. My very first appointment they asked my wants and needs. Not let's take x-rays and see what services we can recommend. The hygienist sat down and asked me how I felt about my teeth. Was I happy with how they felt? Looked? How could they help me get to where I want to be? The Dentist, Bella is always smiling and is always encouraging. It's never a lecture if I have cavities, it's a conversation about how she can prepare me to not get them in the future. I was so happy after my first 2 visits I referred a friend, and then a second friend. Both are now raving fans as well. When I came into my next visit I had no charges. I know my insurance covers most of the costs but I was expecting 20 or 30 dollars. Turns out they have a referral bonus! That time and the next time I came in I paid nothing. It's seriously too good to be true. Plus I never leave without goodies. At the very least a new toothbrush and some toothpaste. Since I discussed teeth sensitivity in my last appointment they sent me home with two different types of desensitizing toothpaste to try. Jordan at the front desk makings bookings easy and she is very sweet. I get reminders via the communication of my choice (I'm forgetful so I love that they email me a week in advance, call me three days prior and text me the night before). They even have a coffee machine so that I can make my next appointment, grab a cup of coffee and go on with my day. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars. 4 people in our family are now with Dr. Makagon @ Prestige and here is why; They are understanding when schedules don't work out. Very clear and upfront about insurance coverage and issues. For the kids and their experience; The ladies were polite and nice and I get to watch shows I like during my procedures. It was such a great time, as good as dentistry gets! Best dentist in Seattle hands down. They accept tricare and that says a lot. It means they care about veterans and military personnel, but it also says a lot about their patience because dealing with tricare is a very complicated and trying thing. So thank you Prestige! Dr. Makagon is one of the best medical professionals I have had the pleasure of interacting with. She and her staff are skilled, efficient, and accommodating. Dr. Makagon is very personable and friendly, compassionate and empathetic. They are able to schedule appointments even a few days in advance, and offer online scheduling and account management. Like the other poor reviews on Yelp, I want to emphasize Dr. Makagon is fantastic. The billing department (Tamara) is AWFUL. I was supposed to have all four wisdom teeth removed in November -- my 8 month old fell very ill (fever of 104) and I called to reschedule 72 hrs in advance so I wouldn't lose my deposit. I explained the situation to Tamara and she drilled me on "How sick is sick?" and "Do you think she'll feel better?" My child is ill. Period. How dare you question her health. Just reschedule the procedure. Luckily I pushed back and got it rescheduled because the day of the procedure, I had a 103 fever and sore throat so it would have been cancelled and I would have been out $200. I came back in December to have the procedure and was told minutes before the procedure I had a $500 balance due because of what the insurance wouldn't cover. I was SHOCKED. How did they not give me notice of a major payment like this would be due? Her response? "You never asked." Are you kidding me? I didn't want to be out $200 so I paid the $500 (note that with insurance, this wisdom tooth removal now cost me $700 out of pocket, and we have excellent insurance). Fast forward to yesterday, my husband went for a cleaning and they had him pay an outstanding $200 balance from what the insurance didn't cover!! Are you kidding me?? I was already told $500 was the balance owed. I emailed them to demand proof and they mailed it over and said "we checked with the insurance and this is not covered". So they checked AFTER the fact. Not BEFORE. So now, I have a wisdom tooth removal that cost me almost $1,000 out of pocket, and Dr. Makagon has lost yet another client due to the horrendous billing department (aka Tamara) for her inability to inform clients of their correct payments due AND for her piss poor attitude. VERY rude every time I speak with her. Demanded my medical records be sent to me (won't be surprised if she tries to charge for it, and in that case, will report her to BBB) and will be seeking dental care elsewhere. DO NOT GO TO THIS CLINIC. SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE AND MONEY. read more

The Bottom Line on Top: Otherwise a first class dental experience, Prestige Dental's veneer of luxury is destroyed by a sub-par front desk/insurance officer who is unfit for the job. The Review: Let's be clear, Dr. Makagon is a very good dentist and the hygienist staff is skilled and friendly. The facilities are first class and the South Lake Union location can be very convenient. As a bonus, Roku enabled screens allow you to access whatever Netflix video or Pandora music that you want. Very nice! Several years ago this place would have elicited an easy 5 star review. Unfortunately that all changed when the excellent front desk person, was replaced. The new person in charge of scheduling and insurance fulfillment, Tamara, is flat out the worst customer service worker at any medical facility I have ever experienced. She is patronizing, belittling, and often outright insulting and hostile. She constantly fails to correctly fulfill the basic requirements of her job and connect the dots when it comes to the ins and out of dental insurance. The results are thus unsatisfactory which she then gets defensive about and puts the blame on the customer. This can even extend to bullying and shaming on her part to get the patient to back down and accept insufficient customer service and even improper utilization of insurance benefits. I have recommended several friends here (don't get me started on if I ever received my $25 referral bonus) on the strength of my initial experience and they have shared similar experiences to mine. As it stands, Prestige Dental is one employee away from being the premium dental experience it appears to be. Unfortunately, the one roadblock is indefensible and ruins the entire place. Choose a different dentist, people. This one's not worth the trouble. read more
