As a result, I am a bit antsy about getting dentist check-ups. Unfortunately the period of time since my last dentist visit had grown into an embarrassing amount of time. Finally decided to make the plunge to return to the dentist chair since I was desperately in need of a cleaning. I didn't want to go back to the last dentist that I went to, so I decided to look for a new one. Dr. Jung's office was one of the closest dentist offices to my home which was the main reason I decided to visit along with the glowing Yelp reviews. The office is located in a business park on the stretch of 148th Ave heading south. Office hours are a bit limited as they are only open from Monday through Thursday during regular work hours. So you will need to go elsewhere if you are looking for a dentist office that stays open late or has weekend hours. The office does open at 8 am so it might work for someone coming in before they start work that day. As it was my first time, I had to do dental X-rays. The number they do is quite extensive and way more than I have done elsewhere. With so many X-rays taken, it gives them a better view of the health of your teeth and gums. I thought the dental equipment that they have here was the most modern that I have encountered of the dentist offices I have visited which I appreciate. The cleaning that I got here was thorough and my teeth feel much more healthy afterwards. Most of my visit was spent with one of the dental hygienists who took my X-rays and did the cleaning. Dr. Jung came in at the end to introduce himself and check my teeth. I found the staff to be friendly and not (too) judgmental about me not having had a teeth cleaning for a while. Though I was fearing visiting the dentist chair again, the staff here really made me comfortable and did a great job with the dental X-rays and cleaning. If you are looking for a dentist in Bellevue and are available during the weekday hours they are open, I would recommend this office.

Philip and all of his staff are kind, considerate, thorough and friendly. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else for dental work and recommend his office without hesitation or reservation. I fully intend on seeing Philip until HE retires! I've had mostly cleanings done at his office, but Philip has taken care of a couple of cavities for me and my first crown. He's always been gentle and caring and I've been delighted with the results.

After the filling, I experienced sensitivity to hot and cold, along with a sore sensation, for an entire month. I got a second opinion from another dentist, who explained that the filling had not been done properly. They also explained that even if a filling changes the fit of a night guard, the night guard can simply be adjusted. After they redid the filling, my sensitivity to hot and cold completely resolved, and my night guard still fits comfortably without any issues. During my visit to the new dental office, they also performed gum measurements, which had not been done during my initial visit at Bellevue Prime Dental Group. They reviewed my previous X-rays and pointed out that one of them did not fully capture my gums. They also found a significant amount of plaque and tartar buildup. They asked whether there had been a long gap since my last dental cleaning, but I had actually been seen for a cleaning at Bellevue Prime Dental Group in January. Overall, I did not feel that I received a thorough examination or comprehensive care at this clinic. I'm very glad I sought a second opinion as it resolved the ongoing sensitivity from the filling.

On…read moreJuly 4th 2024 I woke up in excruciating pain in my front upper teeth and couldn't find my regular dentist in Lynwood or any other place open due to the Holiday. On July 5th 2024 I was seen by Dr. Chi in Alki Dental (he was the only option that could get me in the same day). When I arrived to the office I asked to get anything for pain since I was having a hard time focusing, but Dr. Chi refused to give me anything until I sign the proposed plan. He took an X-Ray and first he asked me to try to giggle my tooth to see if it was loose, I couldn't even touch it since the pain was too much. Then he said it seem like the root of the tooth was broken even when I told him that I woke up like that and I didn't have any trauma. He said the only thing left to do was to extract the tooth. I was very scared and confused but I couldn't even think straight because all I want was some anestesia for the pain. He suggested a bridge and since it was in the front tooth, we decided to replace besides the bridge, two more crowns to match the color. After I agreed to pay half in that moment ($2,180) (total amount was $4,360) Dr. Chi gave me pain medication. So he proceed to do the extraction. It's very important to mention that the root of the tooth wasn't even broken like Dr. Chi said and what I had was an infection in a tooth that did not have a previous root canal. On July 19th 2024. I went to Alki Dental to get the bridge and crowns done. I did not like the way they looked and felt. I told Dr. Chi I wasn't happy with the result and he said "I like them" and proceeded to cement them without saying anything else and ignoring my concerns. Then he left and didn't even take a last X-Ray to check that everything was fine. A few weeks later I went back with Dr. Chi to have the crowns and the bridge re-shaped because they were causing pain and discomfort, the bridge was too big and it was scratching the roof of my mouth and it looked crooked (I mentioned this to Dr. Chi before he cemented and he got upset and said "you lost a tooth remember? This is not going to look like a natural tooth" and proceed to cement without my consent/knowledge. After a couple months of having the bridge I decided to get it removed and got an implant instead, of course with a different surgeon. My insurance was maxed out and I had to pay out of pocket, and it's funny that now Dr. Chi's office is contacting me to ask me for x rays that need to be claim with insurance....?! I don't get it, I paid full amount out of pocket, why do they need to submit X-rays to the insurance? Sounds like a total scam to me. Do yourself a favor and AVOID this place. One star review seems like too much for this place.

He trys to convince you that work is immediately needed, when it actually isn't. That's dishonest. Also, their bookkeeping is really poor. I just received a bill almost 2 years AFTER a specific procedure! Their excuse?... "We just overlooked some of the additional charges." This office also has a hard time retaining staff... Every time I go in, there are staff that have been "replaced".... which is telling about the work environment. In looking at other reviews, I see that none of this is new.... so, I am researching who I can report the billing issues to.... definitely the BBB and possibly the ADA and the WA state insurance commissioner. Hygienist was friendly and Dr. Leong came off as knowledgeable and was eager to answer questions. But like quite a few other reviews mention here, she said I had cavities and I needed at least 3 fillings. I was taken aback because while I've had cavities in the past, they were always minor, and I've never, ever needed fillings. She seemed to take offense that I was questioning her expertise, which I can understand, but that surprised me that in just 1 year my teeth were decayed that bad despite for years during my previous checkups I'd get a thumbs up and the usual "your brushing is good, but you gotta floss more, don't skip it!". So, I went with it. I go for the concurrent fillings - paying out of pocket because insurance does not cover all of this, and each time they were painful and just all around unpleasant. After the first one she did I simply asked her, 'if there is usually any discomfort with fillings? I heard root canals were the painful procedures.' She simply said, "I know what I'm doing and have been doing so for xx years." Also, I had pain in my teeth and even now, occasionally have pain when I eat something. That never happened before I got these fillings. Just as she advised I made it a point to brush very thoroughly and floss both twice daily, sometimes I'll do 3. She still remarked that 'if I brushed more consistently, I wouldn't have to scrape plaque under your gums.' Because this was probably my most unpleasant cleaning I've ever had. So, between my recent visit and the fillings, I think this will be my last visit here.
