This review is for Kevin Palmer and his crew at Premier Construction. Last year we were looking to get our picture window replaced, as the frame around the window was improperly installed when it became part of an addition to my mom's home close to 50 years ago. Through the years the window frame became affected by the rain, causing dry rot around and near the base of the window. After several calls, we located a window installer, who pointed out that the floor would also need to be repaired. Unfortunately, the window company did not do floors so we had to find someone else to take care of that part of the job. We DID get some recommendations from the window company, and after some calls we were able to get Kevin Palmer to come out and check out the work that needed to be done. Kevin pointed out that it was very difficult to coordinate two different sets of worker to do work on a shared job, and let us know that his company would be able to replace the window and repair the dry rot on the flooring. He gave us a bid, and I looked up his reviews on this page. I was a bit concerned with the reviews, but we had learned that constructions companies did not want to do small jobs, and that window companies did not do repairs. We went with Kevin and were absolutely thrilled with the results. Our picture window was replaced with a new style that opened and provided ventilation to the small room. FRAUD!!!! Do not use this company!!!! They are fraudsters. They quoted us $21,000 to repair two shingles and one 2x4. We are contractors and know this should cost $200 max. They are known to take advantage of people especially in certain neighborhoods. This is holding up our home sale now. Hopefully they can fix the their mistake but based on other reviews and our other neighbors feedback they don't seem to be very ethical. read more

Condescending, rude inspector. Did not even feel safe letting him into my house. We've had subterranean termites in the past, and were told to get a soil treatment around the perimeter of our house every three years. I called Premiere, made an appointment, and was told an inspector to take a quick look and let me know if a full inspection was warranted. The inspector arrived, and was visibly angry when I told him his colleague on the phone had told me he'd take a look and let me know if an inspection was needed. He launched into a diatribe about how inspections take time and money and I shouldn't try to get his services for free. Then he said he didn't know why he was there at all if I didn't see any signs of termites, and acted like I was wasting his time. I'm perfectly happy to pay for an inspection, and fully expected to pay for any services that were needed. If he had politely said his colleague had made a mistake on the phone, and what I needed was a full inspection, I would have gladly gotten out my checkbook. What was unacceptable was being treated with such hostility -- like I was trying to take advantage of him, and like I was stupid for asking services without having seen termites. read more

I would have given at least four stars for the exterior dry rot/termite damage Gabe and his crew repaired but simple miscommunication regarding cost increase over the original estimate turned into me being berated and told they will never work here again. The original job was actually 2 separate estimates. $2500 for one part and $800 for another and the work would be done in 2 days. On the first day of work some additional termite damage was found and would entail at least a 3rd day of work. I agreed verbally to the increase of $1000 to be added to the $2500 job. The crew of 3 finished the first day of work after about 6 hours work including lunch. The next day a 2 man crew showed up at 10:30 worked for 5 hours including lunch and declared the job finished. What happened to going into the 3rd day of work as Gabe was sure it would? Was there really that much more damage discovered justifying increasing the total by $1000?? I agreed to it and was prepared to pay the full amount of $2500 plus the $1000 increase and the $800 for the secondary totaling $4300. After Marcos and Miguel left after the 2nd day of work, I went to the areas of the house where the work was done discovering that the secondary job estimated at $800 was completely untouched!! Several days later I received an invoice for the full amount of $4300!! What?? You're billing me for the full amount when the $800 job was not done? I emailed a reply back that I had agreed to the $1000 increase but didn't feel it was justified since the crew actually finished early on day 2. I stated since I was in agreement of the increase I would honor it but the total should be $3500 since the secondary $800 was not done. Gabe phoned later to say he'd read my note and that he had done so much work for me, moving things around to accommodate my schedule. What?? It was I that changed my schedule to accommodate YOU Gabe!! The job was supposed to start on a Wed but the day before, Gabe called to ask if they could start on Thurs instead making it Thurs and Fri instead of Wed and Thurs. Although Friday's I babysit my 2 yr old granddaughter I said okay but realized then I would need to hire a sitter since the construction noises would be a problem. So I paid $60 for a sitter to accommodate their schedule. Gabe continued his phone call by saying I was "jacking" him around and they would no longer be able to do work for me. I really thought Gabe and I had a decent rapport and pointing out a mistake in the bill and incomplete work wouldn't cause him to become upset to the point he would berate me and cut ties with any future business. That's fine...there are plenty of other construction companies out there that can use the business and can handle a problem and feedback without having a hissy-fit. read more

I can't say enough positive things about the work Premier Termite has done at my house. The workers and office staff are polite, professional and very knowledgeable. They tented our house before my husband I moved in and have since performed a thorough inspection - no problems were found. They made sure our firewood was covered by the tent, advised which plants might/might not survive the chemicals, and took care of having the power/gas turned on after the job was complete. I've recommended the company to several people and will continue to do so. read more

If your Realtor recommends these guy's run the other way. They're not trying to find too much wrong and screw up the deal if you know what I mean. My Realtor set up the inspection with Gabe at Premier Termite on a previously owned house. He found a couple of things, not too bad. Not long after I noticed a large pile of termite droppings coming out of the bottom of my outside wall nowhere near anything mentioned in his report. So I called Gabe to discuss my termite report and his defense is " I can't see into walls ". OK neither can I but I can see a pile of termite droppings falling out the bottom of the wall. The entire wall from one end to the other is infested. Premier goes so far as to have these very same Realtors write them glowing reviews, shameless There's no reason to use these guy's unless your a Realtor looking for a clean report. read more

They sent out a clean cut, articulate guy to do an inspection and estimate. Very informative and seemingly knowledgeable. My house needed some termite eradication and wood repair. My house has non-standard sized wood siding but he assured me he used a lumber mill and could get any siding replacements cut to size. The guy who did the termite control stuff was fine, the workers who did the wood repairs were not so good. The estimator told me how one wood repair was going to be done on a window. The repairman took a huge shortcut and did a patch instead of a full replacement as quoted. On the siding repair, they clearly used scrap wood instead of "custom milled" wood, and it was the wrong size. They did not bring any felt to replace the pieces in the repaired area, they simply pulled the old pieces over. The wrong dimension wood stood out until I complained and instead of getting the right sized pieces they "scabbed" in wood behind it to get the right (look of) thickness. When the guy was painting the wood, he dripped paint on my car. Two weeks after the painting, the paint started to crack and peel. They came back and sanded the wood and repainted but only the cracked area, so later other areas started to peel. They stopped returning calls and emails. I gave up trying to get it straightened out. I was promised the moon, got far less. Have not got the time or energy to do the BBB, Small Claims, etc. route but I felt it my duty to at least warn others. read more

Sent them a fax, an email and finally called to get a quote on work that I needed on my new house but they were completely unresponsive. This happened over a span of 3 weeks. (And they did confirm when I called that they received the email). Do they not want business?? Update: got a call from them today a day after my post so I added 1 star. Not sure if they saw this but at least I got a call back. However, I already gave my business to someone else so not sure how good they would've been. read more

I had a lot of work just done by Premier. They did the initial inspection when I was buying my place, and I hired them to do the work as well. I like Gabe, the workers were mostly very pleasant, the 2 ladies in the office weren't particularly helpful (calls not being returned, etc), most of the work was done expertly, but there were a few things that were just plain sloppy. They "installed" a screen door that was about 6 inches too short ! They were going to leave it that way! It was only after I pointed this out did their crew member, Marcos Hernandez, look at the existing "broken" screen door, put some cleaner/spray on it, a bit of elbow grease - and it worked perfectly... it never even needed replacing. I'm very grateful to Marcos for fixing this. Another bummer was the exterior door they installed - they made it themselves from a piece of wood - the lock and door knob didn't line up, edges were sharp & actually dangerous, and the door was only primed - not a finished door at all. Again, Marcos helped with this, sanded the edges & put a coat of paint on it. He worked at trying to fix it as best as possible. I'm just bummed that I didn't have the choice to have a finished door installed. Maybe it would cost more money - I don't know - but I shouldn't have to ask for it to be smooth edged and lined up correctly. There were a couple of other small things that did go wrong, but generally the work was pretty good. And Gabe seems to be a really good guy. read more

Buyer beware! If you use Premier Termite and Pest Control - Construction Company expect to receive unprofessional and substandard work. I just used this company to do two separate jobs for me, and from what I experienced, it seems that they will try to cut corners and potentially rip you off. If you call them out on it, they will try to berate and belittle you. As a woman with a disability, I felt completely taken advantage of. The following is what I experienced: Gabe came out to give a quote for the 2 jobs: 1) Install a vapor barrier in the crawl space 2) Remove stairs and install ADA wheelchair ramp to code. The quotes seemed reasonable for the scope of work to be performed to code or industry standards, however when they actually came to do the work they did not even attempt to do a decent appearing job. The lead worker Caleb tried to cut corners on every task they were hired to do. For the vapor barrier to be done to industry standards they would pull the plastic lining up the foundation walls and secure it as well as around all the posts underneath. Instead they just cut plastic and put it down over the soil without ensuring any kind of seal so there was a lot of exposed soil. They took for granted that because I have mobility issues and you cannot see down in the crawl space no one would be the wiser...however I was able to get down there and inspect their work and told them that was not acceptable to the scope of work we had agreed upon. Caleb's response was that "we don't do that" and then had Gabe talk to me. Meanwhile the other worker continued work on the wheelchair ramp. Gabe said that if I wanted it done to industry standards I would have to find another company and it would cost 3 times more than they were charging me. I expressed that they only had one guy down there working for about an hour and all he did was lay cut pieces of plastic down haphazardly with no seal and now I'm expected to pay $1000? That is not what I agreed to and Gabe threw a hissy fit...said he would tell his guy to go back under and pull it out and if I was going to be so picky, he wouldn't follow through with the deck. I expressed that I wasn't being picky, however, I am just expecting the service and products I am paying for and don't appreciate his behavior. I said they are making good progress on the ramp so let them complete it. Later Gabe swung by to check on the ramp progress and then said he understood that I was expecting more than he was willing to do on the crawl space vapor barrier installation and that he would give me a big discount and not require them to go back under and pull it back out. He then found out the scope of work on the ramp would entail way more labor and materials than he projected, was pissed, and expressed that fully to me. "You are getting a great deal on this ramp. What I am charging you barely covers the cost of materials." I understand that he is frustrated that he misquoted the job but he should not except to pick up the difference in the other job, nor take his own frustrations out on me. I told him the two jobs are separate projects. He said fine and told the guys to finish up the job and get out as soon as possible. I found out again they wanted to cut corners because they were into this job for too much and could take advantage of me for the work underneath the house. They were going to build a wheelchair ramp floating on the concrete pathway and partially over the dirt! I asked why they were not going to brace the post in concrete in the ground and they said that I won't need that because it's strong enough. I said I don't feel comfortable with that because the ramp will be used with a powerchair with a person weight at least 500lbs and I want the ramp to last longer than a year. The main laborer doing all the manual labor tried to tell the lead Caleb that you can't just leave the deck floating but he couldn't say anything else as he works under him and he's the boss...After back and forth debate with Caleb and discussion over the phone with Gabe they finally gave into my demands of doing the job right by setting the posts in the ground! They were not happy but they had to dig the holes to set the posts in the ground with concrete and left for the day. On top of everything, they cut my irrigation pipes and left it for me to figure out how to repair. The next day a new lead showed up, Marcos. You could tell Marcos did not buy into the company motto of cutting corners and that he took pride in a job well done. Thanks to Marcos the ramp was completed professionally, however, if he had not shown up they would have continued to try and cut corners and who knows what else. I also had to hire someone else to come behind them to dig out and repair the cut irrigation line. It ended up costing me way more than we agreed upon. What headache!! Just glad this nightmare is over... Just felt obligated to share because I don't want anyone else to go through what I did. read more

Kevin Palmer and his crew have done two large remodeling projects on my house in the last 2 years, and I highly recommend them. They completely renovated our kitchen, installed about 10 new windows, and more recently installed Hardie Plank siding on our house. Kevin does a great job of communicating throughout the whole process, and the quality of their work has been top notch for everything they have done. After recently using premier to have my home inspected for termites before purchase we were told there was no termites, after escrow closed, we found an extensive infestation of termites throughout the entire house costing in excess of 50 thousand dollars, and when contacting and trying to reason with them about they're faulty inspection,we were treated very rudely, and basically told to take them to court if we wanted resolution. Now, I would have never purchased this home or (would have had room to negotiate) if I had known how bad the damage was from the inspection, This company made our first home purchase a disaster and ultimately cost us more than we could have ever have prepared for, and in trying to reason with them were treated very rudely...i can not stress more how poorely this business operates.... read more

Premier Termite performed the termite inspection as well as the tenting and fumigation of our home in April and June of 2008. They seemed to have done a decent job (although I can't be sure since it's so hard to know how well they got the termites), but they get only 1 star for trying to double charge us--more than a year later, they are claiming that we never paid them the cost of the estimate ($225, not cheap!). I had to dig through my records to find the evidence of payment for them. What a waste of time and energy! read more
