I would have recommended Frontier for your internet. Until I moved. They charged me a restocking fee for their equipment of $54.80. That's ridiculous. That is as bad as Consumer Cellular. I am very pleased with the service from Preferred Networks. In late October through mid December our internet service seemed to have slowed down some. I call Preferred Network technical support in mid December and informed then of the importance of my internet access was due to the release of the COVID-19 vaccine and my work assignments while working from home. Preferred Networks immediately assigned a highly qualified technician to review the back end settings for my account and found some configurations that needed updating. This fixed the slowness problems in a HUGE way and therefore allowed me to continue to lead my organization with any technical challenges they were having in capturing the vaccine distribution data to report to the local and state agencies. This technical review and repair was completed in about 2 hours. NOW my ISP connections are faster and more reliable than ever. Preferred Networks actions helped save lives and increased our ability to distribute the vaccine faster. Thank you Preferred Network Support Team!!! As of last week my healthcare organization has distributed more than 50,000 vaccines!!! You and your team had a small part in making this possible. read more

Really would give no stars. Internet service out for more than 2 weeks. When you call customer service they tell you it'll be on the next day. Internet is still not on after two weeks, and all they can say is a tech is working We pay for this so called internet service all year. When we really need it In the summer it does not work. Called 3 days ago about slow internet; had a ticket "escalated." Never actually got a reply. Followed up this evening with "tech support." "Jane" can't help, she can just re-submit a ticket. Preferred Networks charges you an extra $8 a month for "tech support," then doesn't address tickets, doesn't actually PROVIDE tech support. So I'm stuck at 5mbps when I'm being charged $100 a month for "25mbps." This is just one problem after another. Worst internet provider I have ever dealt with. Overpriced, underwhelming. STAY AWAY! The owner is rude and refuses to do basic troubleshooting, instead blaming the customer and their equipment for any issues. After calling everyday (sometimes multiple times a day) for almost a week straight, the owner told me I would have to wait 3 days for someone to call and schedule an appointment to look at their equipment because they don't work on the weekends. When I responded with I pay to have internet on the weekends, the owner said he was ending my service because he wouldn't be threatened. FIND ANYONE ELSE! read more

Wednesday and Thursday, of last week, "service" was down for the majority of the days. Since Friday, the internet has been completely down. No calls, no updates. At this point, I do not believe anyone is even attempting to rectify this issue. $108/mo. for no service. Even when it works, it is for a finite period of time. Not sure how this isn't robbery. Taking our money and not providing a promised service. Update: It is 10:20 on Monday. Still no service (not that they provide any). Do not sign up with them. After one week of Preferred Networks, we switched to another provider after no internet for 3-4 days straight with zero notice or acknowledgement of the problem. I love this internet, the girls in the office are friendly and helpful and always take the time to chat for a few minutes. When I have internet problem ( which are few and far between) John always fixes the problem. Sometimes he is quick to respond ( usually when he has tons of calls waiting) but he has always been pleasant and professional. Last year I made the mistake of switching to viasat (she to a slick salesman's pitch) but after 2 months I went right back to preferred internet. This company had satellite service so u gave them an opportunity to earn my business. I paid $200 installation fee. The service was spotty and they asked me to buy a Google nest. After months we finally got service steady. Then in April the new owner if tge company called to let me know they will take the tower down and asked ne to get Charter. I asked for a meaningful refund and to wait until I got new service. We service went out last week. A man called me at work and said he was here to get the satellite. I advised not to enter my property. I spoke with 4 people, making my request for reimbursement. Today I receive a $200 bill for the satellite. I called, sat on hold twice for 20 minutes. I asked for the owner to call me back. He was not kind. He said he would reimburse one month and that I was not entitled to be reimbursed for install. I made a appointment to have them come get the satellite. I do not recommend service from this company. They have poor listening skills, attempt to talk over their customer and are disrespectful. read more

I had an issue with my computer, TV and router recently. My entire online connectivity was not working and I was perplexed. When it was clear I could not successfully troubleshoot my problems, I contacted Preferred Networks, my very satisfactory internet service provider. Every time I have needed to contact them I have gotten ahold of someone immediately. Their depth of knowledge and patience in helping me get reconnected was above and beyond what they needed to do. I appreciate the time that was given to my difficulties (which were basically my fault, to begin with) and the extent they went to to not only resolve my issues but to give me a helpful and understandable explanation as to what happened. I have always received good service from them and have always been able to reach a technician. read more

Been with this company for many year, not a whole lot of choices where I live. Internet is good sometime a little slow. But..... if your internet is not working, don't call the company, John is alway rude, he always blame the customer, it's never his equipment! Once his equipment stopped working and they had to send out a service guy, he couldn't figure out why the box wasn't getting power, he suggested maybe lightening. However, there were no storms in our area at the time. When we talked to John he said not our problem, my equipment is good and this has never happened before, it was lightning, and you didn't have your equipment plugged into a surge protector. (Not the case, we did have it plugged into a surge protector, a very expensive one at that/$400! And there was no lightning!!!) he ended up meeting us half way and we had to pay for half the faulty equipment! read more

UNBELIEVABLE! A power outage the other day caused our internet to go out and I could not reboot the system. After calling them they were out in just over an hour. They advised that the "box" could be fried and there would be an additional cost of $120 on top of the $80 service charge. The technician advised me that the box was fine, so only the $80 would be charged. They could have easily sad the box was bad and I wouldn't know, I needed to keep my business up and running. Today they swing by to let me know that another customer had the same problem and they found out it was something on their end AND that there would be NO charge at all!!! Went over our 200 data cap limit for the month on the 18th and i have only used about 60 to 70 gigs worth of data....i myself use the most data in a house of 3 because i game online and my data usage should be less than 20 mb an hour for that...none of this adds up and ill gladly be switching my service to spectrum....had to give 1 star because there is no options for 0 stars read more

John Has been working to improve the private service preferred Networks.. I do not get the down load speed as before ??. Absolute worst company I've ever dealt with. To start they couldn't even get the installation right. I have a cut in my wall around two inches long from them trying to put the wall plate on top of a stud. They said they'd fix it. Never happened. Asked for a credit. Never happened. Pretty much told me it is what it is. After getting service I had the pleasure of speaking when John when I started having service issues. John is the most pompous, arrogant person I have ever spoken too. We had service issues for years with them. Every time we'd call we'd speak with John who was rude and condescending. He'd insist my computer was using all the bandwidth. It was off. SMH. I bought a new router because they suggested it may fix the issue. That did nothing. Several of my friends and neighbors all use their service and have had similar experiences. Very unprofessional company. They say they'll call you back and it never happens. They blew me off repeatedly. Moved on to frontier and hopefully will never return. read more

I have been with preferred-networks for 11 years. Their service has been reliable but their business practices are out of touch with the current technology trends.They have been difficult to deal with, online billing is antiquated, service is super slow. I downgraded to the lowest package these last 2 years as this is a 2nd home and they won't give me the same speed as their advertised speeds of 2mbps, only 1 mbps. Its not like I haven't been a loyal customer for 11 years and subscribing to their higher packages. Other carriers provide automatic speed upgrades without intervention every other year. Their bottom plan really should be 5 mbps not 1 mbps. 1 mbps is such an embarrasing speed when my cell phone carrier costing the same ($45 / month) provides 50 mbps downloads in Smith Valley. I often stream from my mobile device which is ridiculous. This is the modern age and unbelievable how this company does not listen to its customers. Frontier DSL is a much better deal in Smith Valley for a lot less without the data caps. Dealing with a phone company is actually easier then dealing with Preferred Networks. They like to blame the customer rather than treat them fairly. Having choice really does help out the customer. read more

I live out in the country, and have very minimal choices for internet. I first tried Hughesnet and they were awful awful awful. Next we tried High Desert Internet, they sent out their technician to see if he could get us internet. The man gets here, and it is a cold day with low visibility, he asks us if he can come back the next day when it was clear to see if he could hook us up. The next day comes and I call their office to double check and find out when he will be here. The technician told the company he tried to connect us and it didn't work. So he lied and we waited for nothing. High Desert gave us the number to Preferred Networks. They came out the same day we called. The technician, the account set up department, and John were all very professional and very nice. I would definitely recommend them. The service has been great. We got the 12mb service and have between 8 and 10 devices using internet at any given time. Service was a little sketchy one day and when I called there was a tower being worked on, after that day everything has been perfect! We have been a customer for about two years. The service is routinely unreliable (we've had literally hundreds of outages in the last 90 days). Random outages and high ping times are the norm since we started using them. The Owner, John, is arrogant and couldn't spell "customer service." He goes through employees like underwear, and they have nothing nice to say about him. If you have any other choice, get your Internet elsewhere.
