Ridiculous arbitrary rules and "violations". Where this business manages properties, they are awful. It's like pulling teeth to get any real answers from them. They mark you for bogus violations and refuse to provide any information or proof until you ask them MULTIPLE times. What they find as violations are also absolutely ludicrous. read more

If there was an issue with some thing they took care of us. We lived in the unit for four years. The move in and exit was smooth. We have moved over the years for different circumstances and Preferred Management has been the best so far. We would highly recommend them. read more

I don't even know where to start there are so many bad things to say! There's horrible communication and they don't follow through. They waste the residence money and buying things that are not needed for the property. They do work around the property and contract out their own family members to do the work. They leave a lot to be desired as far as noisy neighbors complaints. I own a condo in the Carriage homes of Sandhurst in South Elgin. They rent the condo next to my unit. They rented it to very noisy people. I have filled excesive noise violation with them multiple times as required. They don't even give me s follow up call. Had water damage to my garage from nieghbors water heater leaking. Sent pictures and filled a work order for dry wall repair 3 months ago. No response or follow up. Snow removal is terrible. Called cops on noisy neighbors. No action taken. I am moving out of here and won't miss it one bit. Don't rent a place here. The Management company is incompetent and don't care. Was looking for a house, found one that met what I was willing to pay at 1011 Center St. In Elgin IL. I called the management office and set up an appointment with Alan Graff who did the showings. We met at the house as soon as he opened the door the smell that hit me in the face was pet urine he said the previous owner had pets.. the floor was covered in this thick gray carpet... when I walked on it i felt like I was going to fall through the floor it literally sank in..he wanted me to pay a application fee for what?? I wouldn't have been able to get that smell out of the house it was in the floors that was covered up with carpet. He even said he would go down on the rent I still didn't accept. Preferred management (Jeff) just drove to my townhome in her oversized suburban to yell at me. He kept calling me a liar, yelling and yelling, pointing his finger at me like a little kid. He said my walk was shoveled and I said it wasn't. But what he did not stop to here was that my son had shoveled it because it was not done by the landscapers. I'm a disabled Veteran with PTSD. Run from doing business with these people. We moved from Texas and rented a house from them. Upon arrival it was disgusting with lint hanging from the fans and carpet appeared they tried to clean it and it was still gross. I did manage to get a credit and even had to negotiate that to get what was owed to us. Then while we lived there the A/C broke and it was hassle trying to get them to fix it. They left us without air for 5 days! My baby was sweating in our own house and every time I called it seemed like an inconvenience for them to talk to me. I understand things break but give us something a window unit something to make us more comfortable. Then upon move out we were charged for things that were clean and I have video of every room that is clean. Just run is all I have to say! You can do better Preferred Management! read more

I move back from the Army to a disgustingly filthy, dinged up house. Never wanted to fix anything properly if at all. Had the house professionally cleaned when we moved out and had the carpets cleaned but they shorted our deposit $400+ because: dirty microwave (it was clean), dirty countertops (they were clean), dirty cabinets (they were clean), and they had to "fix things". "The things" that were noted on the move in checklist. Garbage company run by garbage people. Stay away. read more

As a tenant, this property management company was the worst experience I can imagine with a property. The place was infested with mice and cockroaches, and according to the other tenants, the mice had been their for at least 5 years. We would send emails every time another incident happened, and the standard response was one word: "thanks." In the months we lived there, an exterminator visited out building once. In the end, when we had to break our lease, the company told us one thing over the phone and then denied it the following day, charging us more moneybthen we had agreed upon. In my opinion, they are very unethical, and I would warn everyone I know against interacting with this company. read more

We had to move out in the middle of our lease for some very extraneous circumstances that caused us to move across the country. We were showing the apartment ourselves to avoid a fee of a half months rent and found someone who was going to take the apartment and out down some money. They ended up backing out when we had already moved and were not able to do anything. We were told our only other option at that point was to have them post and show it for us but that the money already down would cover it. The day after they posted the apartment with the old pictures from before we moved in someone came in and put down a deposit for the apartment without even seeing the apartment. We just got our move our statement and we're charged the half months rent for a post that might not have been up for 24 hours and that they didn't even show to anyone. When we were told the first couple paid enough that we probably wouldn't have to pay much more if anything. The only up side to it was they did indeed take out the money that had already been put down but still charged us the remaining balance. Would not recommend unless you have life on lock down. read more
