This was my second time coming to this Precision Tune as it was as recommended to me. Both visits were for an oil change and to have fluids topped off. It was a busy day so I was in there for about 2 hours. From what I was told in my first visit, they operate on a first come first served basis. The wait wasn't an issue for me because it was semi expected. Although it's an auto shop, dirt & grease spots are expected; It's in need of a gooooood deep clean in the waiting area. The Staff seem kind. I didn't think to check my wipers before I left the lot but the next day when I did, it was still empty. That made me think if they did not top off the fluids did they do the oil change. I lifted the hood and to my surprise the coolant hose was not inside the reservoir. The oil had been changed thankfully but they were moving too fast. This could have went so far left if I did not lift the hood up in time! I surely don't want or need any issues with a car I've had only for a year. read more

I took my car to this shop because it was approved under my CarMax warranty, and I truly wish it wasn't. This was one of the most frustrating service experiences I've ever had. Within one week, I had to go to the shop four separate times due to poor communication and constant changes. On my first visit, I was told over the phone I would need to drive the car for a week after a dye test. When I arrived, I was told something completely different--that I needed to bring it back within a few days. After following their instructions and returning the car, they completed the evaluation and got the work approved. I then tried to schedule a time that worked with my job and confirmed a Wednesday drop-off. However, I was pressured multiple times to bring the car in on Saturday instead. At one point, I was even told I "wasn't supposed to drive off" with my car--only to then be told they couldn't actually do the work that day. Eventually, I agreed to Saturday just to move things forward. I dropped my car off at 9am on Saturday and was told it would take 3-4 hours and that my car was next in line. After sitting there for about 6 hours untouched, my mother received a call (not even me) saying the work could not be completed and I would need to come back again on Wednesday. When I returned Wednesday, the experience got even worse. The staff was noticeably disrespectful, and any sense of customer service that may have existed before was gone. I was again told the work would take 3-4 hours after dropping it off at 9am. By 4pm, I hadn't heard anything, so I called--only to be told they had been trying to reach me. When I asked them to confirm the phone number, it had been written down incorrectly. They also had my name recorded wrong and continued using my middle name. What's most frustrating is that they somehow managed to call my mother previously, yet claimed they didn't have another number on file. This entire process was disorganized, unprofessional, and disrespectful of my time. I would not recommend this shop to anyone and will not be returning. read more

As an update to my previous review from almost a year ago let me just say while they are Rumpelstiltskin levels of expensive and they may leave off a random nut or two or leave tools in your engine bay at least the repairs are done to a level of proficiency where that particular part isnt a problem anymore. I took my car to get brakes done at another shop that was closer to my job (rather than these guys who are closer to my house) and 2 weeks later I noticed that my breaks were squeaking every time I stopped. So I dont know what that shop did but now I have to get my brakes looked at again and I will be taking it to Precision Tune instead. Because I can at least trust them to get the job done 99.9% correct and that deserves 5 stars in my book. read more

After speaking with them again after posting my initial review the manager Francisco continued to offer insincere apologies and no resolution to fix the issue. He also proceeded to tell me that they replaced the window on another customer's vehicle that was also vandalized the same night as mine, which I find to be absolutely unfair considering that I asked for the damage on my car to be handled by the shop and was denied. How can you have multiple cars get vandalized on your property the same night but only offer to fix the damage on one?! The people here lack customer service and do not value other people's property. They continue to deny responsibility and place the blame elsewhere. Completely unprofessional. Use the shop at your own risk. If anything happens to your car while in their possession they will not do anything to help you besides feign empathy. read more

Im not the one to leave reviews but this one was NEEDED. The location on Highway 55 is literally the WORST location I've ever been to. I've went in on 2 separate occasions with 2 years in between both visits to get an oil change and LEFT WITH NOTHING. Can't remember exactly what happened 2 years ago with my old car but I was basically denied service. I was denied service YET AGAIN TWO YEARS LATER FOR A OIL CHANGE. This location closes at 5:30 allegedly. They should post they really close at 4:30 instead! The location sits on a road that has TERRIBLE TRAFFIC after getting off my standard 8-4:30 that I left an half hour earlier to get to the shop in time. I sat in traffic an extra 3 mins which pushed my arrival from 4:50pm to 4:53pm. When I walked in the young white guy with glasses at the front desk told me they couldn't give me an oil change and weren't taking any cars because of the time... I asked what time do y'all close? He said 5:30.... I said okay it's not even 5 yet what time do y'all stop taking cars he then replies BETWEEN 4:45 and 5pm! I'm literally standing there between those times ?! It doesn't take long to do an oil change. There was only 2 people waiting inside already. Idk how many mechanics were working but hours of OPERATION MEANS HOURS OF OPERATION! You need to be OPERATING AND SERVING Customers until that time. Even if y'all run over to 5:40. Wow okay ? Nobody wants a lil over time pay ? Because of this I then had to drive 20 minutes to the morrisville location which once I arrived there I was denied the same service again being I got there 45 minutes before they closed at 6?! MIND YOU I HAD TO BE OUT OF TOWN THE NEXT DAY. Do yall see where this is such an inconvenience?! This location is convenient to where I live I will try my best to never return. read more

UPDATE: Posting delayed because not only am I dealing with my car allegedly being sabotage but I had to have more surgery. 1 March AAA placed dye in our oil for us to drive about 100 miles then bring it back so they could put it under a black light to find the leak. Keep in mind there was no leak prior to taking our car to Precision. Not one drop where we park our vehicle every day, But an hour after allowing precision to touch my vehicle it all of a sudden had a major oil leak dripping down my hand. The only people that have laid their hands on my car out of my site is Precision Tune Auto Care. In the video it appears that someone allegedly loosen the bolt and put the Permatex, tighten the bolt causing an instant leak. read more

I had a great experience with Precision on Hwy 54. After going to Colonial Tires for an appt for Spark Plugs and them quoting me almost $800 and then dropping my car off at Carmedix because they said they could bet Colonial price and quoted me $600 I decide to let them do the spark plugs. Carmedix had my car from 8am until 4 pm to call and tell me that my head gasket was cracked and it would cost an additional $1300 to fixed. I immediately ask if they finished the spark plugs and he said no...I'm like you've had my car for 7 hrs and had not done anything to it. I told the repair guy not to touch my car I will come and take it somewhere else. I then took my car to Percision Tune Hwy 54 and they took care of my car like really took care of it. called me after looking over the estimate that carmedix had given me, and basically said that the repair they quoted don't make sense. I took my car back to Precision the next day and they changed the spark plugs and gasket, all for under $600, and even put air in my 2 month old tires and I didn't even have to ask. I love good experiences at auto repair stores because it's so hard for a women to be treated fair. I would definitely recommend them to especially all the women who are like me just looking for honest, affordable service, please take your car to Precision on Hwy 54. read more

Was attracted by their affordable price (via online coupon) for a 4-wheel alignment... in order to CONFIRM what I thought might be an inaccurate pre-align. report from my usual shop (i.e. which showed my almost new & gently driven car as pretty needy). PT Marty's pre-align. report turned out VASTLY DIFF.: Of the 10 common measurements of the two shops, there was sizable disagreement on 7, and general agreement on only 3! So, whose alignment machine & testing do you trust? PT is a franchise vs. my locally/family-owned business-- yet the latter's owner has been totally absent for my recent visits, as compared to PT's co-owner Marty who was not only present, but absolutely hands-on for my job. And, he, like PT's other mechanics, provide in-person verbal feedback on their completed work-- unlike the more perfunctory/paper reports of my usual shop. And while I could make an appt at my usual shop (PT is 1st come-1st served), I ended up waiting almost as long as I did for my lengthy PT job to be finished (the latter coming on a busy pre-holiday, Fri. morning). So, I'm ending up leaning toward better trusting PT's alignment report-- in keeping with their online positive trend of service for 2020. In the end, I must say that Marty's final align. adjustments for my car were ALL in the "happy" part of the recommended specs-range, and PT's price was HALF of that of my usual shop! Thus, I definitely think that you should give Marty & Co. a try for any mechanical or tire work you're seeking. read more

I only came here because I wanted to use the $3 off with check-in and they wouldn't accept it, saying it had to be printed out. I have never heard of yelp check-in deals having to be printed out. Regardless, the oil change was pretty quick and the owner Bryan was super nice and friendly. He even helped me fix a small problem w my car free of charge! They topped off all the fluid in my car, filled the air pressure in my tires, and gave me a breakdown on everything they serviced and if my car needed any other services. I used to go to Precision Tune Auto Care regularly as I would rather not change the oil in my car myself and I was super busy and didn't mind paying for a cheaper oil change. Needless to say, Precision Tune Auto Care on Hwy 54 has gone down in quality. My first negative experience was when I figured out my AC had a leak. I asked them to just check where the leak may be and they ended up filling up my car with freon on top of that. A gentleman in front of me paid for a lower priced AC test and I inquired why mine was more expensive as I picked up my car. The cashier stated it's because they put refrigerant in my car when I told them I recently just recharged it and I can do that myself (My guess is because I'm a girl they can just upcharge me and add services I did not request). Another time I had an inspection and they wanted to charge me $14 labor for installing a license plate light cover. Well...that is also a very simple fix I could do myself and I requested to just have the part and I would do it myself. Also something to note, the newer skinnier cashier lady is rude, always on her phone, and presumptuous. The final straw is when I got an oil change before a long trip. I waited for an hour during the weekday for my oil to be changed. They put a sticker that I had to get my oil changed once it hit 338K miles...well...my car isn't even at 120k miles. Later on when I went to fill my washer fluid, I found that my hood release was broken and know that I did not strong arm the lever since there were no pieces and I could clearly see where there was a broken part missing. Now today, I'm changing my oil in my car myself and looked at the filter which is a Tec Select T500 filter that is much smaller than the models that fit my car. First, they need to fire the young girl at the front desk. Immediately. Terrible attitude. Second, I did my research online and chose a shop in my town, because I really wanted to support a local business and not spend hundreds of dollars extra at a dealership. I made an appointment online, only for the girl at the desk to tell me that they don't take appointments. Uh, yeah you do. I'm looking at the email confirmation for the appointment AND an email exchange I was having with one of the staff. Long story short, poor customer service all around. So, I left. I have to admit I have a lot of horror stories with this franchise from when I used to live in Greensboro, NC. But when I had car troubles in May and I needed a place to go my friend and fellow yelper Braxton M. suggested Precision on Hwy 54. I can say I came in very skeptical that I wouldn't be told exactly what was wrong with my car and would end up having to get a second opinion. But the staff at this Precision were very nice and detailed explaining the issue with my car in a way I understood and didn't feel taken advantage of. Last week, my check engine light came on and since I was satisfied with Precision before I took the car back to them. Low and behold, the issue was from the work they initially did. The workers quickly fixed the problem free of charge and I was out the door and back on campus in time for class. I love the professionalism of the workers here, the accountability they showed in admitting to causing my problem, and the quickness in which they fixed the problem. While my opinion hasn't changed of MOST Precision Tune Auto Care, my opinion of THIS Precision is solid and they have a loyal customer in me. See ya in a month for an oil change! read more

Not great not bad. I went in and told them that the o2 sensor was bad as i have a diagnostic tool . They said they needed to confirm that which I understand. So they charged me a diagnosis fee of $120 for what they told me took 60 minutes. So yes they agreed that the o2 sensor was bad and needed replacement. I gave them the go ahead and had the work done. I'm not a overjoyed that they charged me for a diagnosis fee for a full hour and did not use some of that charge towards repair work done. Next time I will try somewhere else with lower diagnostic fee and or a place that will take the diagnosis fee towards the repair work. Again, I this post is not to be positive nor negative. Just want to inform people that they will charge and diagnosis fee on top of the repair work. Some repair shops will deduct the "diagnosis" fee if one agrees to have the work done. read more

The ladies at front desk were nice, they got free wifi here (if anyone still uses it) and the manager Bryan was super polite and sat down to talk about what's okay and not okay with each customer's car. I was drawn to Precision Tune by a coupon on their web site: http://www.precisiontune.com/NorthCarolinaStateInspections.aspx#Raleigh_Durham_Area_Locations touting a $20 NC State safety inspection. Upon arrival and giving the cashier lots of unnecessary personal information (for future junk mailings) the cashier explained that despite the coupon, the cost would actually be $30. An hour and a half later, the out the door price ended up being $40. Though I did save $5, my regular inspection shop usually has the job done in 20 minutes. read more

I have had the worst experience with this automotive repair shop. I usually come to precision tunes for regular oil changes but I will not be back to this location ever again. I will also report this complaint to the BBB. I entered precision tune with my car running asking for my alternator to be replaced. I purchased the initial alternator from advanced auto. Marty stated they would be able to install it for $290.00 (the labor only). I paid the $290 immediately. I agreed due to realizing it wasn't easily able to be accessed. The following day Marty called and stated I had purchased the wrong alternator. Marty then went on to state " well I don't know if you can have advanced auto bring you the correct one, but a decision needs to be made quickly because we have your car tied down and it's holding up a bay. That comment, I felt was very rude and I felt rushed and pressured to make a decision. I understand they have other cars to service, all he had to do was have my car placed back outside into the parking lot and allow me a little time to weigh my options. Mind you, I had already paid (290.00) for labor upfront the previous day. I gave permission for him to an install the alternator and he stated it would come with a two year/24 thousand mile warranty. Then he calls me after the alternator has been placed in the vehicle and states your current battery is charged but it is not holding a good charge. he states I can not grant you the warranty on the alternator due to your battery. I really felt as though I was being taken advantage of at this point. You sell me an alternator with a warranty from your facility, install it then tell me that you can not grant me the warranty which I paid a total of (298.00) for the part because my battery is not holding a 100% charge. if I purchased a part from you which comes with a warranty you have no choice but to honor what I have purchased. So again I feel pressured and rushed to make a decision because you have just installed a alternator in my vehicle that is supposed to come with a warranty and now you are stating my battery is not good, the car is up and running but you can not allow me to have the warranty to the part I recently purchased. I allowed them to place a battery in the vehicle because I needed everything I purchased to be in correct working order and I wanted my alternator warranty to be in good standing. I contacted Marty the following day after I left the shop because on my printed receipt it did not state that the alternator had a warranty. During our conversation I asked him why did it not state this on the receipt. he stated well the warranty disclaimer is all on our website for all of our parts. I then stated I needed something in writing incase I have to receive service from another precision tune they would be aware. He said well it's also a disclaimer on the back of your receipt. I stated that is a general disclaimer it is not stating for this alternator you have received a two year /24,000 mile warranty for this specific part. Then he said well I can write it on there. The way Marty spoke to me and how rude he was is unacceptable. I do not need for him to post a response and say how can we earn your business back, because he will never earn my business back. I spent a total of 692.30 to be pressured rushed and not have proper paper for the items I have purchased. That is the last time he will get over on me. This place is great. I made an appointment through yelp, however, yelp doesn't notify you that this location doesn't accept appointments. When I arrived this was explained to me, they were extremely apologetic and promised to try to get me in faster and do their best to honor my appointment time. I was in and out in 40 minutes despite it being extremely busy on a Saturday. The price was reasonable and the technician explained what he did and notified me that there was a part on my car that would need service in the near future but that there was no rush. Their honesty and customer service was amazing. My father is a mechanic so I am very particular about who services my car other than him. However, the service I received at this location was honest, efficient and high quality. read more

I went to Precision Tune Auto Care for an oil change with a coupon for $19.99 and to get an inspection for $30.00. I was then told an extra fee of $6.58 was added for the oil filter. I then had to wait over an hour. I was called back and told that there was a leak in the small upper radiator hose. They showed me hose and it showed signs of leaking at the connections. It was leaking at the connections as if it was not connected tight enough. I agreed for them to add some Antifreeze, not realizing this cost $17.50. They ask me if I wanted them to fix it. I said no. I let them know that I have to budget my money and I have a friend that could help me with this. Moments later I was called back again and now I am being shown the elbow that the hoes connects to is broken off. I had just driven over 600 miles out of state with no issue. NOW my car is damaged to the point that I could not drive out of the Auto shop without all the Antifreeze not just leaking out but pouring out. I was so shocked and confused but I had no choice but to get it fixed because I now could not drive my car with such a serious issue. After telling people what I had been through, I was given some advice I called back and ask for a manager, I spoke with Marty. Marty stated he would pull the camera video. Marty called me back and confirmed that he could see that the "antifreeze container brushed up against the now broken elbow". I drove in with a car that had no major issues and then my car was not safe for me to drive out. After speaking with Marty I was more frustrated. He admitted to seeing in the camera video that the antifreeze container hit the NOW BROKEN elbow for the radiator hose. I let him know that I was not financial prepare for this extra expense and he offered unreasonable offers that would cost me more. I wish I had requested to keep the parts. I find it hard to believe plastic would corrode as he stated. When I looked at the leak, prior to the service rep braking it, it appeared to be leaking around the connection, as if the connection was just not tight enough. My $50.00 auto visit ended up being $200.00. I told Marty that I would be adding my feedback and contacting the BBB. Marty ask me to be fair on my feedback. Was it fair that my car was now damaged in their shop? Leaving me with no choice but to pay for them to fix what they broke at their shop? They broke it and he could see that on the video, yet I had to pay to get it fixed. I ask to speak to the owner of the business and I was told the owner is never there and I was not allowed to speak with the owner. This is just another example of auto care workers taking advantage of a female. This is wrong! Again, IT WAS BROKEN THERE AND I HAD TO PAY TO GET IT FIX. I had no choice, or to pay to have my car towed. I drove in there just fine and had been on a long road trip just days prior. read more

I would stay clear if you have any vehicle 2000 or older. The first time I went I was met with excellent service, I miss one appointment, and suddenly I'm met with a $800 - $3000 repair job. The guy will also take you into the back to look at your car and purposely try to point out problems on it that didn't neccesarily exist. For example, they failed me on an safety inspection due to "a locked brake" and "it dripping brake fluid". My car never leaked until it was checked out by him, and it didn't leak afterwards either. I went to another dealership and they passed me, gave me a oil check, and even saw a problem with the alternator that the other mechanic didn't catch. I'll never go to this place again, and the new car I bought will never go to them either. Stay FAR away from here unless your car is brand new, the bias against old cars here is REAL! read more

I have to totally agree with Eric.... First let me start by saying I have been coming to this business for nearly 10 years and NEVER have I ever been treated so poorly. I came in for a routine oil change and state inspection. My right headlight was found to be aimed too low. I agreed to pay the $10 to "adjust" it. During that process my headlight adjusters were striped so they no long adjust. i called attention to this and at first the owner denied it then he fessed up to it. I told him I did not want to pay for the inspection or the adjustment because he broke the screw. He replied that I would need to take that up with Toyota and walked away. His unprofessional and dishonest manner floored me. He even questioned my education level when all I was simply wanted was for him to make right what his shop did wrong (broke). I will NEVER be back again! read more

We take all our cars to Precision Tune at this location largely due to the service Marty and his team provide. Let me tell you one reason why. Several years ago when we were relatively new customers, we came home from a oil change/ tire rotation and noticed a wheel cover was missing when we got home. We called the shop thinking that they might have forgotten to put it back on after the tire rotation. Marty checked and didn't see a wheel cover lying around but told us he would get a replacement set. No argument over why it was gone or who's fault it was. 3 days later he had the set and put them on personally. It was at that moment that I became a permanent customer. We have all had negative experiences at repair shops right? Feel like we are getting ripped off, up-sold, or treated poorly. I have always had just the opposite treatment here. After each service Marty or one of his team will give you a summary of what was done and areas to keep an eye on. What's different is that Marty will never say "Geez Mr. Smith, your brakes are really bad, I wouldn't be driving on them, I think you need our premium brake service right now". What he will say is "Mr. Smith, we checked your brakes and you have about 10% padding left. You should take care of that in the next 5,000 miles or so. If you like we can do and here are your prices and options. If not them just make sure to take care of that soon". No high pressure or up-selling tactics that too many other shops employ. Just the facts and options. I can't recommend this shop enough. My only hesitation is that if my recommendation sends too many people his way, it might take me longer to get my service done :P read more

Look, I'm not here to bad-mouth anybody, and I'm not out to get free stuff or throw anybody under the bus. I don't wake up in the morning and wish negativity on the world but I did switch to another mechanic. Then I left an update to this review stating so. For this I received a phone call from PTAC. Previously, I had expressed disapproval in the quality of their work to them directly, but received no attempts at resolution. The phone call came after I left an update to my review, which suggests other motives are in play than geniune care for your customers. I have never had any differences of opinion in the past with these guys, so I guess everything went smoothly for at least 2 years. When does anybody have a problem when things go smoothly? It's in differences of opinion where a business really shines. I am a freelance mechanic, but live in an apartment complex that is completely and totally against any kind of vehicle maintenance taking place on the property. So technically, that I have anything good OR bad to say about a mechanic is their fault first and foremost. That being said, I'm changing how I go about this. PTAC, I do NOT want a phone call this time, because I feel like it lacks sincerity and concern. I'm leaving this review up because I have recently had multiple issues with your work that may or may not be specific to the nature of the work I've requested of you. To anyone considering coming here for basic vehicle maintenance, I'd say go for it. The techs here are more than capable of handling basic wrenching anybody with half a brain and an internet connection could do. I work 60-72 hour weeks though, and despite my prerequisite knowledge of the subject matter, I just don't have time or the means to deal with it at this stage of my life. Are they the cheapest for this work? Nope, but they also aren't the most expensive (cough SNAPPY LUBE!) Anything more involved than that like problem diagnosis, significant mechanical undertakings, aftermarket work, and work involving uncommon vehicles, one may wish to venture to another mechanic whose pedigree and past experiences are reflected in the way they treat others. Mechanic work is a field fraught with disagreements because the costs of doing business is often surprisingly high. The best ones work to resolve differences not because they have to, but because they want to. That's how I do my job, and it's how I like to know others do jobs for me. read more

I write this review with a sad face. I loved bringing my 2007 Scion tC here. They have always been honest and made me feel valued. I especially like being told to have a blessed day when I am walking out the door to my car with fresh oil and rotated tires. Most recently, I had to have my rear brakes done sooner than I anticipated, but I was happy to give them my business, as I knew I could trust the shop. I now have a new car and maintenance is included so I won't be visiting for a while. I highly recommend THIS Precision Tune. This. Particular. One. Went in for a oil change and routine check up. Took over an hour. Luckily my fiancé wanted to take a look under the hood and we found that the purge valve hose on the air filter was disconnected...the "tech" must have "inadvertently" removed the hose...won't be back. read more

I would say if you are coming here be prepared for a wait. I would also say watch out for those flushes and fills. They can add to the cost of service really quickly. I would come here again if I had lots of time and was ok with dropping off or waiting. I would recommend dropping your car off for service read more

I was not impressed by anything at this Precision Tune. They told me it was first come, first served. I woke up early to be the first person in the door at 7:30am. I was the third person in line behind two alignments. Two hours later, my car still wasn't brought into the garage. They were doing oil changes for people instead of doing my tune up. When I asked about it they said there was nothing they could do. I walked down to Meineke a couple of businesses down. Got quoted a price $30 cheaper. Not to mention, they had a nicer waiting area, it was clean with free coffee, vending machines, and Home Alone playing on the TV. My work was done in 1 1/2 hours. Precision Tune needs to take note from Meineke on some customer service. read more

We came in this weekend for a pre-purchase used car inspection. We worked primarily with Mike, who went over the Civic we were thinking about buying very thoroughly. He listened to our specific concerns and showed me specifically where repairs on the car had been done and what he thought of the quality of the repairs. All was well until he went to pull the car out of the service bay and smoke started billowing out from underneath the steering column...he immediately came and got me and told me that his best advice was to kill the deal, no matter that the dealership offered to do for me. I took his advice and my wife and I are VERY grateful that we didn't buy a car that would've started smoking the morning after we paid $6,000+ for it. Mike gave us a very gracious discount on the inspection as a consolation prize for the car deal. Overall we were in and out of there for $50 in less than an hour and a half. Without Mike's advice and expertise, we'd have gone through with a car deal that would've turned out very poorly for us. Precision has earned our business for routine maintenance in the future. read more
