Repairs done (single visit): Radiator & coolant compressor. This is a chain, apparently, but this review is specific to this locale. It seemed worthwhile to post a review because I noted a prior negative one related to a similar radiator repair. That made me very nervous myself when spotting it only after I'd left our Honda Accord there, but our experience was as positive as any car repair can be in trying circumstances. I had to very quickly find a garage via Siri search while on the road, with the added pressure that it was late afternoon, with many shops nearby already closed. This one was just minutes away from my highway location so the choice was pretty much forced on me by my highly alarmingly worded warning light. (What had seemed a minor cosmetic-damage-only encounter between car's front end & a buried railroad tie had, in fact, ruptured the coolant system, draining all the fluid, with potential to dangerously overheat the engine.) The very efficient and well-informed woman at the front desk helped advise the technician and they got my car in and assessed it together with speed & competency. Her initial estimate of damage and cost turned out to be accurate and both she and a man who alternated with update calls were helpful with the process of syncing with insurance + locating parts. Communication with us was routine and clear. During the initial wait, I saw them being equally well organized and courteous with others, even though it was then very close to closing time. I'm no automotive expert, so can't advise with any certainty if the job could have been done cheaper or faster (it took a few days due to coordination with insurance & getting one part), but...the final tally was adjusted slightly lower to match my insurance coverage -- much appreciated -- and three weeks later, car is still performing great following the repair (I wanted to wait on a review to ensure no surprises.) Also, they were kind to an elderly family member I was with, keeping the office open a little late so I could run down the road to pick up a rental. So, for making the crap experience of a car accident far from home a process as painless as possible: all stars. read more

First, I have been coming to this location (Durham Chapel Blvd) for years, 15+ and have NEVER had an experienced with a manager that I felt was disrespectful & unprofessional. I have had an incident when staff left my windows down and the seat got wet because of the rain or they didn't remove the paper mat but never words with a manager that I felt that I had to stick up for myself. On 06/19/2025, I came to the shop for an oil change, arriving around 8:04am. There was a line with a young checking people in. Eventually, another worker came to assist with the check-ins. I waited for over two hours to get an oil and when I inquired about the time, the young lady stated that she would check. The so-called, manager, Jerry, asked 'what is she getting'. The young lady replied I was getting an oil change but had been waiting for two hours. jerry called me to the shop area to show me the tickets lined up for service which I felt had nothing to do with me. Jerry stated that I had submitted a complaint about waiting for two hours last month as if I was in the wrong to do, if I did, which I couldn't remember. We went back and forth about it whereby he stated, 'just give her keys, I'm not dealing with her today'. The lady tried to tell him that she had the situation under control and was asking me if I wanted to come back. jerry continued with his comments and was starting to leave the shop, and I told him to 'shut up'. He stopped, asked me what I said, and I repeated it, 'shut up'. He replied, 'I'm a grown man and you telling me to shut up'. I stated 'yes' because you will talk to me any kind of way. The one thing I regret saying is that I told him 'I hope you crash'. The young lady helped me calm down and the oil change was completed. While sharing this incident with others, a few people felt that I should have the car checked out as if a staff could have done something to my car. Hopefully, the staff had more integrity to complete a job without any mishaps. Would not recommend. Spent $927 for a coolant leak which wasn't fixed. My water pump was leaking and they put on a new one which was also leaking. I decided to go somewhere else to get it fixed since it wasn't done properly the 1st time, tried to get a refund and they won't give me a refund whatsoever because I "voided the warranty" by going somewhere else and they "cant prove the water pump they put on was the problem" when they asked for a summary of the work from the shop I went to which said the water pump was leaking which I gave to them. I had to call 4 times in one day to get an update on a possible refund which they were supposed to call me back to inform me of but they never did. I would strongly advise against using this auto center for any vehicle repairs or diagnostics. My experience was deeply disappointing and left me feeling misled and taken advantage of. Here's what happened: Due to stress I had developed acute sensory (hearing/ sound) issues that day. I thought something was wrong with my vehicle, so I took it in for a check-up. While I explained the issue, I asked just for a general check and oil change. Not only did they ignore what I had asked for, they tried to sell me parts that my car didn't have broken. They made up something about my car's brake motor being broken and the brake fluid being dirty. They made it all about the brakes to scare me. I genuinely wanted to know how that might have happened, so I can avoid it. When I inquired, how and to show me the broken parts - they could neither explain or show me the damages that they were talking about. It is interesting that the Lyft that I took, the driver was told that he had the same problem with his car (sounded scammy). To make sure I wasn't being scammed, I took my car to a second, reputable auto center (they have a practice of sending video of the work as they are doing the diagnostics - and are very transparent). They thoroughly checked everything and confirmed that there was nothing wrong with my car. This experience felt like a classic case of trying to overcharge a customer for repairs that weren't necessary. It's incredibly frustrating to think I could have paid almost $1,000 for work that wasn't needed at all. I recommend steering clear of this place, if you value honest and transparent service. I've been going to this location since the spring of 2004! So, I've seen this place go through different managers and technicians. Since I have been a customer with Precision Tune Auto Care for so long, I trust them and is willing to give them a chance to come through on their word! Like they have before in the past! But after today, this location won't get my business, time, money nor recommendation!!!! If I could give this location "0 STARS" I would! Last year, I called to see if I could have my 88 Oldsmobile towed there to have them look at. The young man that I spoke to said, "Sure...yeah we will take a look at it to see why it won't stay crunk!" I had it towed Sunday, November 5th, 2023, and called that Monday to let them know that it's there and that it belongs to me. Every time after that, I would call to check on my vehicle and I would stop by in person.... same old run around..."Oh we haven't had time to look at it" or "The technician that we had to look at it no longer works here, and I don't trust any of my guys to work on it, except for one guy!" or "We are trying to get our paying customers out of the way first before we look at!" B.S., B.S., and MORE B.S.!! I don't have time to keep calling that location or stopping by because life be lifing!! Either you know what's wrong with it or you don't! Either you can fix it, or you can't!! Either way I need to know!! NO ONE from that location called me nor told me when I showed up in person, "Well, this is what's wrong and this is how much it will cost to fix it.... how would you like to proceed!?" Doing would mean that the people that work here have GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS AND THEY DON'T! So, excuse me for having high expectations!!! The tow truck driver calls back at 1:38 pm today and says that the guys that work there are giving him a hard time with getting the vehicle because "money is still owed on the vehicle." He said, "I told them they done had the car for a year and did nothing to it." I said, "That's right.... I'm about to call them now!" The that answered the phone is the one that works at the front desk (Tall black, skinny guy, always wearing a baseball cap, look and sound like the actor "Bill Cobbs" from The Bodyguard and New Jack City). I told him who I was and said, "What money is owed on the car!? This ashy joker going to tell me, "Calm down!" I said, "No, I'm not calming down!! You all have had my car for a year and did nothing to it and trying to charge me!" He said, "You could have come to get it at any time! We won't it out of here anyways!! You have a nice day! Click....hung up the phone on me...left me talking to Bell South! Lol! I called the tow truck driver, and he said, "Yeah he up here talking S^#%!" I said, "That's alright...just get my whip out of there! But it's all good! Just done an annual inspection at this location yesterday. I serviced my cars many times at this location, including state inspections. The inspection was done within 40-45 minutes, which was under normal time frame. I could leave (it was Saturday morning) and do something else - like shopping around for next week. Well, once I turned on my engine and drove for a few seconds, I heard knocking sound - something was beating the ground from my car. I immediately stopped my car and checked around - within seconds, I found a big head nail attached to my driver side front tire. I then drove back and told the attendant. He acted like "it is not our problem. We did not put a nail to your tire". Well, I had to give them my key and they said they will take a look at it. Waited for another two hours, they finally took the car into their garage and after another 10-15 minutes, they took me to the garage and told me that there was a nail on the tire and they could not let me pass the inspection if it was there - so it happened after the inspection - and so it is my problem. Furthermore, told me that the nail is close to the sidewall of the tire and could not be repaired. They can sell me a pair of different brand of tires to fix this problem. I had to leave and today went to COSTCO where I purchased this set of tires. It took COSTCO 40 minutes to repair the damaged tire for free. They also did tire rotation and balance for free as well. At this moment, I am just wondering the credibility of this precision tune - should we go there for our next car service? read more

Needed a NC State Inspection stat and Precision Tune Auto Care popped up on my browser with a $5 off coupon. Walked in on a Wednesday morning around 11:15a and was able to set up an appointment for the next day (they were currently at a 2 hour wait). Showed up at the appointment time the next day and was out of the store, bill paid and inspection finished in less than 40 minutes. Not only was Precision fast but the manager there is fabulous! Calls you by name, doesn't try to up-sell you, is incredibly friendly and has a very calm demeanor. I price checked some other future options for car service and the prices seem right on track. Plus, you can't beat a $25 state inspection charge. Precision gives off the old-timey neighborhood feel with no bells and whistles. It's not going to amaze you with it's customer waiting room amenities, but your vehicle will be taken care of without ulterior motives. They have a "Travel Package" for $89.90 that includes an oil change, new oil filter, tire rotation and balance and a wheel alignment [most companies charge $70-$85 for just the alignment!] I'll be returning to Precision for my next check-up. read more

I got awesome service from precision tune auto care today. It sipped my mind that my car was due for an oil change. Around 3pm Saturday 09/16 my oil light came on and it sent me into a panic. I called precision and they said we close at 5 but I think we can get it done. I arrived 15 mins later, and my car was done about 45 mins later and I was 3rd in line...wow. Very very courteous staff, Mr J. Poe was very professional and the guy at the front (I don't know his name) he was awesome as well. They told me it was coming from the rotors even though I had changed the rotors just a few weeks ago. when I brouget that up they told the quality must have been poor.. I trusted them. They put there so called 'higher quality parts' but the problem got worse. Instead of trying to find a solution, they got defensive and borderline rude. Took 5 days for a 3 hour job to put in a wheel bearing due to using cheap aftermarket parts instead of the OEM (Made by the manufacturer) and never called me to update me on when it would be done then charged me the extra 10% that the law allows them to without informing me. Any mechanic that cares about their customers safety and has pride in the work they do wouldn't use aftermarket parts as the first option. They only want your money and will say anything to get your car in the shop. Don't go here unless you need an oil change and have nothing to do with your afternoon. read more

I can't believe that I just asked them to check out the ignition, I feel like it doesn't start smoothly. They first can't find my car fab and ask me if I took them. Unprofessional! Second, they feel like the car has no problem and double-check with me; I told them I just feel like it doesn't start smoothly, I don't know if there are any problems, you guys have to check for me! They ultimately told me they have to replace the starter and it's 800$, 300 for labor, 400 for the new starter!!! I was shocked! I googled the price and it's just 200$. I asked them what brand and what model of your starter and they said it's just a Ford starter. OMG, that's the worst answer I have ever got!! I then got another quote from Mr. Dong at Biady Automotive Services. He is super nice and gave me an honest quote, 300$, 100 for labor, 200 for the starter, which is the exact price I saw on Auto Parts. I then drove to his shop, having him check everything. He told me the car has no problem at all!! How dare they charge me 800$ for a good car? I was so mad that I had this experience and I felt so blessed that I met a nice guy like Mr. Dong! In the end, the Precision Tune auto Care charged me 30$ for inspection labor, which gave me a wrong diagnosis. So I basically pay 30$ to get the wrong result. How stupid I am!! Never again will I come here. I came by to get an oil change. I told them I was in a rush because I had to drive to GA as soon as possible. I asked how long it was going to take and they said 45 minutes. I waited over an hour. No one was working on my car and they just had my car turned on up on the lift just wasting gas (I had the gas warning light on). I asked how much longer and they said "we are waiting for your filter." Why not tell me you don't have my filter! Knowing I'm in a rush to leave why not tell me? I would have left and gone else where or got the oil change when I got to GA. They also spent 5 minutes trying to reset the oil light that was never on! I had the low gas light on. Went in on a Saturday afternoon for a standard oil change and tire rotation. I was immediately impressed with the level of hospitality and professionalism that two of the company reps displayed in communicating with me and others. They were busy, but I got the vibe that nobody in the waiting area was particularly stressed, and when it was my turn to drop off the car, I didn't feel rushed or "upsold" in any way. Upon picking up the car just 20 min. before closing time, I noticed that my oil change "percentage monitor" had not been reset, and while my tires had been rotated, the air pressure had not been updated. Precision Tune quickly and expertly took 3 minutes to fix that, and the explanation was honest.. i.e., "we're sorry about that. The guys were busy and it was an oversight. Let's fix that now" The fact that they were genuinely friendly people makes all the difference! read more

I go back and instead of rushing to get my car done, another hour and a half go by with nothing by excuses and apologies. 3 1/2 hours for 2 tires. This was my favorite garage years ago, but it has gone downhill since then. My car needed an oil change so I made an appointment for 12 p.m. with Precision Tune Auto Care. I made an appointment to ensure my vehicle would be worked on at that designated time. I arrive early and ask how long will the service take. The front desk guy states about an hour. At 1 p.m. I ask for an update. Not only has my car been sitting in the parking lot but he also adds my car will be next. If issues arise that will delay the process you should notify the customer. I understand that working on vehicles take time but I don't understand why I see so many workers stopping to smoke cigarettes and receive cake when my car needs this oil change. I am new to the area and it is always hard to find a good car place that wont try to rip you off because you look like a naive college student. Admittedly, I am that, and know little about cars. Danny at the counter offers some of the best customer service I have ever experienced at an auto repair shop. They walked me out to it to my car and showed me what it was that needed repairs and were very upfront about the cost, which isn't always the case. I always check with an auto mechanic family friend that stated repairs are legit and they were all legitimate. Thankfully, there is a Starbucks within walking distance so I was able to hangout there and get some homework done while I waited. But honestly, come in way early or be prepared for a long wait. My least favorite thing about getting my car serviced is the frequent condescension from staff, confusion, and a general sense of unease. I experienced none of these things at this Precision Tune Auto Care and recommend them for any repairs you may need. read more

Furthermore, the service that was completed was done incorrectly and I had to bring back my vehicle a few days later for the same issue. As I expressed my issues and concerns, he refused to give me service and threatened to call the police after arguing me down in front of multiple customers. The first time we took my husbands jeep in for an oil change, dropped it off around 730, long story short we couldn't pick it up until about 430pm, we walked in explained to the cashier that we had been calling all day about the ETA of our jeep being ready and we got the run around she said "what do you want me to do" so i said could i speak to the manager...she calls him and I start to explain to him how we got the run around that day and before we could finish explaining he apologized and asked the cashier to comp the oil change. So he understood my frustration immediately. He gets 4 stars. The second time i went the same cashier was there, and its a really long story but it ends up with her being really rude for no reason and she concludes with, "im sorry my husband was in the hospital last night and i was up with him all night and i was told i had to come in today" while i understood her frustration, as a customer that's not my business.
