Stay away. I went here 2 times and both times I was cheated. Yes, I said cheated. The first time I went in to inquire about my car being serviced, but I didn't know exactly what was wrong with it. Although they didn't do a diagnostic on my car, I was still charged. The second time I went was to get an inspection done. I later found out that they didn't enter that my inspection had been completed in the system, so I had to pay another place to do it since I needed to get my license renewed. Bottomline, I'm appalled by a so-called place of business that does not actually do a service but have the gall to charge you. I will never use this place again. read more

Recently My wife and I run into a situation at Precision Tune Auto Care - 3910 Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd, Durham, NC 27707 where one extremely awful mechanic took fully in charge and did everything his own way for almost three months without fixing the car. The worst part of this is no one knows from his shop what he was doing. The coworkers, owner of the shop or front desk assistant do not have any clue what so ever. There are no documentations how many times we went there and tried to get help from him. We really would like to share our horrible experience and give everyone a heads up for future reference. They listen everything what you have to say and will be on the top of it immediately and effectively. We have never seen anything like this. We learned how precision Auto Care customer are Extremely above and beyond to resolve any issues. Believe it or not once we contact the customer care, they responded immediately and did not want to waste any second. They arranged with another location of precision auto and towed our car and fixed the issue on the same day. We picked up our car the next day. We could not believe how friendly and professional people they are. If it was not for them, Danny- Mechanic is actually left us in the pile of Garbage. Here is our horrified experiences Danny is the mechanic who was handling and working on our car. He run the diagnostic test and called us what's need to be done and he said the spark plug and all of the cables needs to be replaced then he gave us an estimate of $800. We told him to go ahead and complete the necessary fix. He then told us to stop by around 4:00 pm to pick up the vehicle. When my wife and I went to pick up the vehicle, he was still working on it and said he told us he is running few tests and should be ready in a while for pick up. By 6:00 pm, he said he had to order a computer to adjust or sort of calibration needs to be done to adjust the rattling and shaking. He will be calling a guy to bring the computer on Monday and install so he can run the adjustments. He then said to drive the vehicle home safely and to bring the car back on Monday. He will call us once the computer arrives. We paid the $794.20 and left home. For the next three months he never fixed the issue but keep giving us all kinds of lies. He really thinks that we are completely foolish and dummy but what he actually did not realized is that we are much more intellectual, respectful and super patient people who tried to give him a chance and more time so he can help us. Unfortunately, he probably not thinking that way. Here are the exact responses that Danny gave us during the last three months when we go there and asked him for updates on part he ordered 1) The person who supposed to bring the computer and install did not show up 2) The computer delivered but looks like they dropped it and Software blew up 3) Had to order another computer 4) I ordered the computer and will take between 4-5 days and will let you know when I receive 5) I have to go to Garner and pick up the computer from another location 6) I have called Mitsubishi dealership and will pick up the computer. After three months going back and forth to Danny (Mechanic) with no hope of resolution, we finally escalated and had to fix our car at the different location. The worst part of this is no one knows what he was doing. We gave 1 star for this shop because of what Danny did to us and no one was monitoring him during these entire three months period of time. We are not trying to give other people the wrong impression and damage the entire Precision Auto Care Industry and all Hard-working people services at all. This is just a wake up call for both everyone who works there and upper level Management so anyone should not go through what we went through. read more

I came here for an oil change because it was close to my house. The staff seemed nice enough, but God almighty this is the most disorganized, inefficient auto place I've ever been to. I actually came in twice: the first time, I called in the morning and asked if I needed an appointment to come in the afternoon for an oil change. The person on the phone said no, just come on in around 5:00. I did that afternoon, and when I got there, I was told that I couldn't be seen because they were too busy. Annoying, but fine- I scheduled an appointment for the following day after work. I showed up the next day at my appointment time, and checked in. The gentleman behind the counter seemed confused, and it took him a few minutes to verify that I did indeed have an appointment. He checked me in, took my keys, and I went to sit down. Half an hour went by, and nobody had touched my car. I asked at the desk, and the guy said that they were running about an hour behind. Why did nobody tell me this when I checked in?? In the time frame that I was there, about 10 people came in and out of the office. Almost every single one of them was in the same boat that I was. There were a few people sitting in the office for several hours, and ones that had gone out, come back and their car still wasn't ready. A couple of people even demanded their keys back and stormed out. I'd say I saw one single happy customer in the time that I was there- everyone else was fuming over the staff not disclosing extended wait times. I can't speak to the level of competence of the mechanics, because I simply got an oil change. But this business apparently struggles with maintaining any semblance of a schedule, does not keep customers informed, and appointment times are meaningless. If you bring your car here, I'd suggest dropping it off first thing in the morning so that you have a better shot of being seen quickly. I will say that the guy behind the counter did a pretty good job of staying calm and polite, despite having many angry customers in the lobby (myself included). read more

I will never bring my car back to this place ever again! They are fine to use for basic oil changes or brakes. But BE WARE of anything else! They did a tune up on my vehicle and afterwards it ran terrible. The engine kept revving and the car just did not drive right. I returned it to them and Jack (the manager) initially claimed they never did my tune up. He said it wasn't in their system and stood there as if to say..."oh well, cant help". I immediately called home and told my husband to screenshot the work order form they gave me. When I mentioned I had the workorder, ALL OF A SUDDEN, he miraculously found it in the system. Mmmm hmmm, ok Jack. They said they'd call me but they didn't call me. When I call them the next day, he leaves me on hold for 11 minutes & 30 seconds and then hangs up!! So I drove up there and he tells me it will be $1700 to fix my car. WTF! How do I go from a tune up to a $1700 repair. Absolutely not! I called the corporate office who then turned it over to the district manager, Vince. That conversation was a waste of 10 minutes of my life. In all, I took my car home and I will never return to that shop ever! They didn't even try to fix anything when clearly they did something wrong. Do not go here. They forgot to put oil in my engine and tried to lie to me about it by adding oil after the fact. My engine was destroyed and had to be replaced and they did not ever admit to it, even though my car drove perfect on my way to the garage and broke inside their garage. Conveniently enough, their cameras were down so it could never be proven, but the mechanic (not from Precision) that replaced my engine said that the old one had definitely been run with no oil. Come on, I have a less than 10 year old Honda with less than 100K, the engines don't just conveniently break during an oil change of all places. My car had no negative mechanical history prior to this incident. Their local corporate offices were nice at first, but once they realized they were not going to pay for the damages, they were very reclusive in getting back to me about the situation. Again, it was never proven (in court or by them admitting to it) that they were at fault, but you be the judge. The special offers they have are enticing, but try to go a trusted place instead. I am usually a little weary of getting advice about my car from any mechanic because they have often tried to sell me things I did not need in the past. If you too have trust issues talk to Josh at this location. He has never once tried to sell me anything I did not absolutely need and he is always willing to help find an option that is most affordable if you do need work done. He has worked with me and my husband through many car issues and we have both been very pleased. The service here is always top notch. They also run a lot of coupons in the local mailers which provide extra savings. read more

Brought my Subaru in for a required NC state emission and safety inspection on a Saturday. The guy that checked me in told me that I didn't even need the emission inspection because my car was too new, saving me $30. The inspection was done quickly and I was on my way in less than 30 minutes. Everyone there was courteous and friendly. Because of my good experience with this simple thing, I'll bring my car back when I need service in the future. read more

6 months ago, I went here complaining of a broken axel on my vehicle. They quoted me $500 on my voicemail (they had to potentially order the part so they left a voicemail stating they found it and the price). I went there today to have the axel looked at again and was going to have it fixed there along with a broken rear wheel bearing. They told me $585 for the bearing and $685 for the axel (the same axel they quoted me $500 for 6 months ago, nothing had changed). Meanwhile, while I was waiting, before I signed my name to have it fixed, I called Subaru to see how much they would charge and Wasp Automotive (heard very good things about them), and BOTH said around 400 taxes included. I told the manager and he acted very surprised and said he would call Subaru back to make sure he got the correct price. We both spoke to the same exact person at Subaru and the manager allegedly claimed that the guy initially gave him the wrong price, but he would price match and it would be $421. At this point, I completely lost my faith and trust in these people to do a good job especially after I just called them out on an obvious error (which I honestly think they just viewed me as an idiot female who wouldn't cover my bases and call around to make sure I'm getting the fairest deal so they tried to take advantage). Still doesn't explain why they mysteriously went up in price almost $200 for the axel as well to $685. Subaru and Wasp both quoted me $500 for that also. I will NEVER be back and will strongly recommend family and friends to Wasp Automotive. They are usually slammed and don't have appointments for days, but they do one heck of a job and took me right in. read more

This was the worst car care experience I've ever had. Usually taking your car to the shop for the day is an inconvenience, but today, the good folks at Precision Tune turned what is ordinarily a hassle into an 8-hour ordeal. I had a 10:30 am appointment for a routine oil change and inspection. I told them that my fuel leak detection pump was causing the check engine light to come on, and that I wanted them to fix whatever needed to be fixed for my car to pass inspection. I told them I would be waiting for my car across the street at a coffee shop, and the man who checked my car in said they'd be in touch once they knew what work the car might require. The staff gave me no indication that I would need to leave my car all day. I had not heard from them at all after four hours, at 2:30 pm, so I called to check in. They told me to be patient, they were doing diagnostics. I called again at 3:30, and they said it would be about another hour. After 2 hours, I called again and they said they were almost done, and would call back. I did not actually get to go home until 6:30. They found out that in fact, my leak detection pump is dead, but I will still need to devote another day to having it fixed. Although the manager was pleasant and helpful, I do not believe they took much initiative because they did not call me until 6 pm, and they were not particularly apologetic. This appointment took an absurdly long time and the staff did not communicate with me well at all. I honestly think they forgot about me, and that demonstrates pretty terrible customer service. I think the word I used when the manager asked was "abysmal." I will never go back, and I will discourage everyone I know from taking their cars to any Precision Tune ever again. On the other hand, I cannot recommend the people at the Starbucks across the street highly enough. They were great, and after eight hours together, we're all best friends. read more
