They do great work! First time I used them was for a clutch replacement in a Fiat 500 Abarth. Never a great time to try a repair shop for the first time but they exceeded my expectations and they performed maintenance on that car for until I sold it. Always honest with what I need and what I don't and friendly. Fiats are never cheap to work on but they provided fair pricing. They're a little far for me for my truck that about anyone could work on but I'd recommend them to anyone! read more

These guys rock! They are on the pricey side, but that comes with its perks. My oil pressure light was flashing (red oil can) and my car was starting slow, so I brought it in, terrified that I had irreparably damaged my engine somehow. Instead, their mechanic sent a detailed diagnosis explaining that it was a battery issue and had nothing to do with my car's lubrication system. They COULD have taken advantage of my inexperience with that kind of car problem, but they were honest and diligently fixed the core issue. They're busy, I have always been able to schedule ~2 weeks out but am not sure how available they are with drop by emergencies. I don't know anything about cars and they never make me feel silly about my questions. I've tried many places in the surrounding area and had bad experiences at both chains (looking at you pep boy..) and non-chains (CH tire). I was recommended to Auto Logic by a neighbor. People in the area seem to have universally good things to say -- good service, good price, and good people. My experience has been the same. Marianne makes even the stressful SOS call to the shop a pleasure, and after calling around town, Auto Logic had the best price by a mile. I was concerned about moving across the country with a 12-year-old car, knowing I'd have to find someone trustworthy to service it, and I'm lucky to have gotten it right on the first try. Had a windshield issue, as well as tire pressure monitor gauge system problem. The establishment were very honest and told me that they did not specialize in windshield replacement, and they referred me to another service that took care of that for me. On their first attempt, the TPMS was not fully fixed, and when I brought the car back, they repaired it for me for free because they couldn't fix it the first time around. I couldn't even get through the door at this shop. I have an older car, and I described over the phone a couple concerns I had. Both were simple issue that I have already diagnosed. They told me it would a minimum of $300 just for them to look at the vehicle and perform "diagnostics". Ok. Really? You mean plugging in the chip reader and looking at the code qualifies now as "diagnostics", and is worth $300. Ok. When I tentatively agreed to that, then they went so far as to say they misquoted me. There would be additional charges. Again - sight un seen. No actual parts or any repairs. More than $300 just to consider the problems. So - I know there are lots of good reviews, but I would be careful dealing with these folks. read more

I've taken my primary vehicle (first a Chevy Sonic, then an Hyundai Veloster) to Auto Logic for almost ten years now, and everything from routine maintenance to extensive problem solving has been great. My partner also takes her car and she's never had an issue. The customer service is amazing, and goes way beyond the minimum. I just had my oil changed the day before their summer holiday and accidentally left a printed draft for work on my passenger seat. I gave them a call and in just ten minutes they texted me images of the pages and totally saved my day. They didn't have to do that, it had nothing to do with my car or the work, but it made a huge difference for me that day. When I got my current car I had to buy used after my previous was totaled. Unfortunately, it ran into some issues after about 20,000 miles. They not only found all the problems, but became so dedicated to fixing it after a few times fixing one thing to reveal another issue, they eventually gave me a huge discount on a tear-down to find and fix everything once and for all. I've driven that car for over 70,000 miles since then and have not had a single mechanical issue. Nothing but routine maintenance. The level of customer service here was extraordinary - transparent, helpful, fair and did exactly what they said they'd do. I have used them several times over the last few weeks. My daughter's car overheated and after reviewing the paperwork from the last shop he noted it should be under warranty there and a simple coolant hose fix. After towing there that shop quoted me $1500 to fix....an oil problem. After towing to another shop Tim came back to work on it and discovered that shop had created a hole in a pipe coming directly from the motor. He was able to weld it for $300, fix the coolant hose issue and get us back on the road. He then fixed my truck alternator and a few other random issues and get a whole garage full of things fixed for me. Top notch communication and customer service. 10/10 will use again! read more

Another Carrboro gem! I usually go to my car dealership to get my oil changed, but I think they are way too expensive and take nearly 2 hours to get it done. Today, on a whim (but also thanks to fellow Yelpers), I called to make an appointment to get my oil changed (it also includes a tire rotation if needed). Marianne was very friendly and told me to come on in since it's a slow day. First off, I love how eclectic the decor is. There's even a classic soda vending machine; and yes, you can drink one. Besides being won over by the decor, the people who work here are friendly, down to earth and, best of all, truly helpful. I've learned from past mistakes that most auto shops like to tell you that there's loads of crap wrong with your car so you spend more money. Auto Logic is a real homie. They'll let you know what your car needs, take care of it smoothly (and quickly), and off you go! (While I decided to wait, I walked around a bit to the local thrift stores to buy some time. As a recent transplant to the Raleigh area, I was looking for a mechanic I could trust to start taking care of my car. Based on ratings, I tried Auto Logic and I am pleased with my first experience. The net is that they looked over the car, found nothing amiss and told me they found nothing to fix. $200 for diagnostic and oil change. I estimate the dealer service cost for the same would have been substantially more. Also, while I was waiting to check in, the couple in front of me were in a bit of a panic due to screeching / grating noises coming from their brakes. The husband needed to get to the airport in about 2 hours for a flight.The receptionist asked if they had been driving on gravel which they replied only to turn around in a drive way. The mechanics took the car in and came out about 10 minutes later with a piece of gravel that was caught in the brake assembly. They sent the couple on their way at no charge. read more

This place is seriously the definition of customer service. Everyone is so friendly and thoughtful--all of the small things they do come together to make it a wonderful experience. From being given a ride home from one of the owners to the free sodas out of their classic coke machine to being asked how studying for the GRE is going (something I told them last time I came in), Auto Logic makes going to the mechanic actually an enjoyable experience. I knew the car needed some work but when I took it Auto Logic they informed me the car was completely rusted out and flat out unsafe to drive. In fact, they helped me open a claim into the transportation department, document all the facts for the upcoming court date and kept me informed all the way through the process. Wow! Took my 2002 LS 430 in this morning with worries about brakes and a bad tire. Rather than scamming me, selling me something I don't need....these folks nicely, and with care, told me I didn't need brake repair, fixed my tire and charged me a reasonable modest fee. They took me back to the bay and showed me the tire issue, too. What more can you ask for? Honest people, nice shop and timely service. I will definitely be returning. This is one of those places that I am afraid to give a good review because I don't want a bunch more people going there ;) This is hands-down the best auto shop I've ever been involved with. I've been taking both family cars here exclusively for the last 4 years and couldn't be happier. Why? Simple reasons: PROS: - mechanics work on salary; not comission (so they don't try to find things wrong with your car, or jerk you around with labor fees) - front office staff is friendly, helpful, thorough, and always let you know the deal - certifications and experience: most mechanics are master ASE certified and specialize in only a few makes of vehicle - if you spend as much $$ as I have there you get a free t-shirt! CONS: - you get what you pay for; these guys are experts and get paid a salary, but its not the cheapest place. Then again if you get ripped off somewhere else, was the price worth it? - they are busy, because they are good. It can be inconvenient to wait until 5:30pm to get a call that your vehicle is ready - not really a con, but a caveat - they only work on imports; no domestic cars take away - this place is awesome; get towed here if you break down, or come here for regular maintenance. I have never felt uneasy about this place and the staff is genuine and trustworthy. read more

I also wanted to note that they are a great shop to use for the long haul. They keep a database/list of all the maintenance work that you are going to have to do sooner or later, but not quite yet. This list includes estimated prices, so you can budget out your repair plans. Every invoice you get includes this list of deferred maintenance, so you always know where you stand on future costs. And there is never any upsell pressure to do these repairs until they are actually needed. Plus, Bo, Gene, and Marianne (sp?.) et. al. are nice folks, so I don't mind the wait at the end of the day while they prep/complete your paperwork - you can get caught up with them & chat. read more

While my daughter was in grad school at UNC Chapel Hill, part of the way my wife and I were helping her out was by providing her with a car. We live in California, so I needed a local shop to take care of the car for me, and my online search led me to Auto Logic. I was impressed that they were family owned and operated, and that they had been in business in the same location for many years while establishing an excellent reputation in their community (there are some nice articles online about this place). I called and spoke with one of the co-owners, Marianne Jones, and she was more than willing to work with me. By the way...a female owner-operator is extremely rare in the auto maintenance business, and Marianne is the real deal. This makes Auto Logic the perfect shop for a woman to take her car to...or for a father to send his daughter to! Over the years, Auto Logic has been more than a blessing to our family. They have done all the routine service my daughter's Honda, usually during her breaks while she was back in California with us. I would ship them the key, and they would go to her apartment, bring the car back to the shop, do whatever work I asked them to, take care of the bill with me over the phone, return the car to the apartment lot, and then send the key back to me along with the receipt. How great is that? And they have taken care of every issue which has come up. When the tires needed replacing, they gave me a good price on the replacements I wanted. When one of the engine mounts failed, they replaced it fast. When the window tinting failed its first NC inspection, they steered us toward a shop which did an outstanding job on the redo. And when my daughter picked up a nail in the tread edge of one of her tires, they got her a replacement and got it on the car as quickly as they could. And it doesn't matter who answers the phone--whether it's Marianne or Bo or whoever picks up when you call--they're always nice! This is easily one of the best auto shops on the planet, and if you need work done on your import, take you car here! You might be able to find a lower price somewhere else, but you'll never find an outfit you can trust like Auto Logic! read more

i've been taking my audi's here for awhile. Bo, and the gang remember my name. I'm not a car guy. so i'm a little nervous when i take something in. the last "engine light" cost me 650 dollars. yikes. I have been going here since I moved to the area 5 years ago and over the past 2 years or so service has greatly declined. I do still trust that the recommendations they make are good and they are not telling me I need repairs I don't need. But I cannot trust that they will actually do what I drop the car off for anymore. I have had several instances of scheduling for an oil change and inspection where they just forget to do one or the other. One time they kept the registration and I had to go back to get it. Recently I noticed abnormal wear on my front 2 tires of only a year old and may have to replace abnormally early, I suspect due to shoddy alignment here since no one else has touched my tires since they got placed. One of the staff talked about keeping a bottle of whiskey in the back and that might explain the downhill trajectory...I will be finding another mechanic read more

Professional and honest. My car was running rough before a big move so I took it in and they did a complete Mx check. They found a head gasket leak and several other problems that were more expensive to remedy than my car was worth so I decided to junk it. (296,000 miles, we almost made it RIP) I'm in the military and was in the middle of a PCS, selling my home and a masters. They helped me take care of the junking process, even doing the paperwork remotely since I had left the state and my friend was studying abroad. The manager allowed my car to stay free of charge as I worked with the notorious CA DMV. We just moved here from Connecticut this summer. The oil light came on in my Audi Q7 and I went to advanced auto parts to buy oil to put in. Since we don't know of any reliable mechanics around here my husband said hold off on scheduling an oil change anywhere until I do some research- I said okay and went ahead and bought three quarts of oil to be sure I'd have enough- clueless about cars. I initially put two quarts in- not knowing you never do that, you add one. I also wasn't checking the dip stick. After driving for a few days the low oil light came in again- on a Saturday- I felt lucky to have that extra third quart I had bought so I added it- and after doing so the oil light remained lit. Uh-oh- what's going on? I thought so I called Audi and they explained when you over fill it froths up the oil and prevents the oil from getting into the engine and lubricating therefore real engine damage can occur. I was told to have the car towed to have a mechanic check for oil damage. And to not drive the car at all until doing so. I had read good reviews about Auto Logic and even the tow guy Recommrnded them so on a Saturday, with no appointment I had it towed there and left the key with a note in the overnight slot. On Monday they called me first thing and assured me they'd get to it ASAP. They had it all checked out and an oil change done the very next day even though we weren't scheduled for an appointment and they were already busy and booked. They were completely honest and checked everything and assured us there was no engine damage. They completely could have fleeced us. I had done something to my car that could have ruined the engine. They could have claimed it did and charged me any amount. They did not. They simply did the investigative work and charged for an oil change. I am so grateful for their integrity, honestly, and kindness to do it so fast knowing we were without a car. I can't say enough good about these people. Thank you Auto Logic- AND they didn't even ask for a good review. And it's been a few weeks and I'm realizing they deserve it. Highly recommend. I'd give ten stars if I could. read more
