I have to echo what many others have said. They are the best! They are so responsive, communicate directly and take their time to explain and answer any questions. I had a sudden nasty sound in a wheel a day or two ago and drove directly to the shop. Even though they only had a skeleton crew before the holiday, they drove the car around the block, then straight into the garage and 20 minutes later it was fixed! I cannot say enough good things about CCC. As a young female, going to get any work done on my car is incredibly intimidating. The men at CCC explain everything they do on my car in great detail in a way that I can understand. They call me multiple times to give me updates on my car. They are friendly, welcoming, and genuine. I never feel like I'm being taken advantage of like I do at other mechanics. They do amazing work and charge more than fair prices. 10 out of 10 would recommend! These guys are incredible. I dropped my car off overnight hoping to get my NC inspection completed before I had to be in at work the next morning at 9:00am. I was dropped off around 8:00am to see how the progress was going and they notified me that when I dropped my car off overnight I should have let them know it was a RUSH since I didn't have an appointment scheduled. No worries though... they made it happen and my car was ready in 20 minutes. They moved some other cars around and got to mine so I could make it to work on time even though I didn't follow the best protocol. read more

I have used Clayton's, Wayne and Kev, probably for 20 years, with various members of my family and their cars, since when they used to be at Willowdaile before they moved to North Roxboro Road . I have turned on some friends to them who find them honest and thorough as well . I have never felt like I am being " up sold" on any thing. They may not be the cheapest , but their operation is based on trained diagnosis and customer satisfaction . Anyway, who wants brain surgery from a gynecologist? I remember a time I went in there and asked to have my brakes replaced and they told me that it wasn't necessary! Since I moved to the south of Durham sometime ago I have always been looking for other mechanics to hold to what I call the Clayton Standard! It hasn't been easy. I needed to get an oil change, I am new to Durham, had no idea where to take my car for service. I chose Clayton's. Must admit since I am an older woman they would try to sell me other stuff, on the contrary. I was informed I needed state inspection , I asked if they could do it, which they can and did. When you have not one but TWO older cars with about a trillion miles between them, you are at the mechanic a lot. It is important to have a good one, and Clayton's Car Care is a great one. They are honest and I've got multiple stories of my own to prove it. I've been taking my two clunkers there for 5 years now and I see the same guys there all the time. This is a good sign, people! We are so lucky to live 5 minutes down the street from them. Can't say enough good about these guys. As much as I like them, I just can't wait for the day I can get a newer car and I don't have to go see them quite as much... Do not hesitate to go see them! Good, timely repairs -- honest people -- they will happily explain your problem in as much detail as you want. IMO..total rip offs. If I could give no stars I would. They overcharged me to replace my head gasket and it blew again. Then they said I had a cracked engine block and without checking it first. They said I would need another engine. I would not allow them to touch my car again. I had it towed and got a second opinion. I never had a cracked engine block. Wayne Clayton, possibly the owner, refused to refund my money. I had to get the NC Department of Justice, Consumer Protection Division involved to get my money back. He violated several laws and my rights, from NOT providing me with a written estimate of repairs to charging $600 more than what he actually quoted to not providing me with ALL the my old parts he replaced. This whole experience encourage to complete my criminal justice degree and go to law school.. read more
