After calling Paul over at K&D, he drove to my home the next morning to pick it up and provide a free diagnostic to figure out what was wrong. By the next day, he found the issue and gave me a very fair quote for replacement parts and repairs and got the laptop back to me by the next week (told him this wasn't a rush job, otherwise I'm sure I would have gotten it back sooner).
