First Rate Hidden Gem in the Scarborough Golf Club Area !! The description from the webpage says it all " A bohemian Czech and Slovak restaurant serving traditional meals in a casual country club setting overlooking the rolling hills of Masaryktown." A small group of foodies decided to band together one evening and descend on this intriguing place that was recommended by one of our group who, you guessed was from Eastern Europe and had eaten there many times. Our group was quite diverse as we had folks from all over the globe, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Russia, regions of China, Korea, Taiwan, Canadian First Nations, and others, who for some had never had traditional Czech food before. Since we were a large group to make things easier for us and the staff, we had the great folks at Prague prepare a set menu for us. We had three choices each for the apps, mains, and desserts. I went for the lovely mixed greens, shaved beet and feta salad which was a flavor explosion with fresh veggies and a great dressing. Next was the mouthwatering creamy Beef Stroganoff, soft tender seasoned slices of beef of a bed of thick euro-style noodles with gently steamed yellow beans, and we finished with a wonderfully house-made crepe. I care not what the others had as I was focused on my meal and the lovely lady I was with. But from what I heard there were no complaints about the food and the many Czech beers we polished off. Prague is a great space with an outdoor patio, great for summer nights and cooler evenings. There is plenty of space in the elegantly designed interior and a full-service bar with typical alcohols, wines, Czech and North America beers, wines and specialty liqueurs. The Prague Restaurant has it all, ambiance, great food, great atmosphere, stunning views on the patio and world-class staff. Yes, Prague should be on every foodie's list as you will not be disappointed.

Had a wonderful dinner here on a Sunday night. The service was great. They all seemed to work together unlike some other places where each server only attends to their owe areas. Every so often someone would go around and check on each table. The food was also very good. There were 3 of us and we ordered: * BRAMBORAK & GOULASH potato pancake filled with beef goulash - the beef was very tender & potato pancake was a delicious pairing. * BOHEMIAN PLATTER FOR TWO Wiener schnitzels, pork roast, Debreziner (pork) sausage, sauerkraut, red cabbage, dumplings, home fried potatoes, gravy and tartar sauce - what a great way to try a bit of everything. Our favourites were the sausage, Wiener schnitzel & home fried potatoes. * Crepe with ricotta, apricot preserves and vanilla ice cream - it was light and just enough to satisfy our sweets craving after a very big and heavy dinner. We will definitely be going back.

We had beautiful weather for our Thanksgiving dinner at the Prague. It felt like being in the country although we were close to home. Inside restaurant was well designed and comfortable seating. Service was excellent! We must return to try out all the different Czech dishes.

    Classic! Really tasty!

Just visited Prague restaurant after almost 10years. Lot of changes and fortunately all of them are positive. I would start with a new owner and very good services... that should be the main reason for everybody who heard about the place in past to come and give it a seceond chance. I hope it will remain as it is now - friendly staff, very good Czech kitchen and reasobable prices. For anyone new, who never heard of the Prague restaurant, definitely try it. Very good european dishes and great beer picks on tap.

I love this restaurant. This restaurant is hidden, but kind of nice because really quiet place. Every meals are good, service was good!!

The owner (I believe she is the owner) greeted us and told us we could sit anywhere. She brought us water and menus. My sister and I ordered 2 cabbage rolls, Potato and Cheese Pierogies, Meat Pierogies with bacon and onions to share. For my son, we tried ordering the schnitzel sandwich, but was told that was unavailable. My son doesn't eat mashed potatoes so I asked if I could just order him a schnitzel and she said yes. The food came out in about 15 minutes. The cabbage rolls were fantastic, the perfect amount of acidity in the sauce. I really don't like tomatoes or cabbage, but there is something special about the cabbage rolls. I ate very bit of mine. The pierogies were wonderful. I usually prefer just potato and cheese, but honestly between those and the meat, I couldn't decide which I liked more. Both were flavorful especially with the sauteed onions and sour cream. My son's schnitzel was huge! He could only eat about half of it and when my son asked for ketchup (much to my dismay) the owner was very nice about it and commented that's the way her daughter likes it too. Honestly the food was absolutely wonderful and the service was great. It was very similar to what I had in Poland. If this restaurant was closer to my home I would visit often. We had no issue with parking. We were able to get a spot on the street right in front of the restaurant. Parking was also not too expensive since you aren't in the downtown area. If you are in the area and want a wonderful meal, be sure to visit.

It was a Sunday night. Our reservation was at 6P. We left at 5P. It took us 35 minutes. Great meal. Started with the goulash. The beef had been pounded and was small and tender like the potatoes and carrots. I opted for minor spicy. It was served very hot and was perfect. We've had goulash at Grundel in Hungary, and this was comparable. We both had the pork wienerschnitzel, which came with fried potatoes and a smidge of red cabbage. The pork was divine. We've had wienerschnitzel across Central Europe, and this one was perfection. The sprinkle of dill added a nice mild tang (great touch). The portion of pork was not huge, but you get plenty of taters. My lovely had the apple strudel for dessert. I had the crepe stuffed with jam. Both were incredible. I paired mine with the Viennese coffee, which could have been served a bit hotter. It was tasty, though. I also had the berry spritzer and a shot of apricot brandy. The first was refreshing; the second didn't taste very apricoty. Parking is immediately in front of this gem. Wonderful meal expertly prepared. A bit pricey, but worth every penny. Highly recommend.

Street parking was reasonably easy to find. We were seated way back in the restaurant and the seating was a little uncomfortable as our table was set up right next to the bar (but way too close to the bar, because our table was long) and other patrons had to constantly shimmy through a small gap between our table and the bar to get to the washrooms downstairs. Not great. We ordered a family style meals to share (combo for 2 and a combo for 4) and the amount of food that came out was probably enough to feed 10 very hungry adults. Definitely do not indulge on the bread basket that comes before the meal, because you will need to save room for the main event. The massive platters came loaded with pierogies, 2 different types of cabbage rolls (my favs!), schnitzels, and various condiments (?) of cooked beets, carrots, cabbages...etc. We were first served 1 different soups; white borscht and beet soup and both were tasty. The meat dumplings in the beet soup balanced out the sweetness of the broth and it worked well. I personally preferred the white borscht which was perfectly sour and a slightly over-powering sausage taste. The refreshing cucumber salad with dill in sour cream was a great accompaniment to somewhat heavy tasting meal. The hunters stew was a hearty bowl of tender morsels of meat, potato dumplings in a well balanced tomato based sauce. Although most of our food was great, we found the cabbage rolls (the traditional tomato version) and the schnitzels too dry. And along with the issue of having to deal with people constantly brushing by, I am taking away 2 stars. I may revisit Cafe Polonez if I'm back in the area, but not in a huge rush either.

I mistakenly came upon Town Crier Pub due to some marketing miscommunication on my part. I saw a lovely lunch special sidewalk sign and thought it was for them, but it was actually for the restaurant next door! However, I was already committed, and I always loved pubbing. Opened in early 2011, it was named after the historical role of town criers who served as the primary news source in medieval times. With the general theme of Belgian and German styles, its owners believed that European beers and news were linked. Would I be crying in my beer at this pub for entering the incorrect eatery in this town!? Innis & Gunn Mangoes On The Run Fruited IPA Beer 5.0% ABV 20floz Draft ($11.00CAD): Dark strawberry color, fruity mango tropical aroma, low body, fruity hoppy mango sweet flavor, smooth finish, and slight bitter fruity mango tropical aftertaste. He handed me a massive menu, supplied a glass of water, and soon enough I placed my order. My beers arrived quickly while the food took about ten minutes. He checked in often while we chatted throughout the time. It was a cool hang out for lunch - danke! PARKING (Varied; N/A this instance): I was in the area all day for the start of the Toronto International Film Festival, so I simply walked. Otherwise, there were spots along the main drag of John St. and all surrounding streets, some nearby structures, numerous public transportation options, and rideshares - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A cozy snug layout throughout, inside had a loungey warm feeling with a focal bar with a few stools https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=0&select=LZIKI_6GFVgLIPXXkbrICA and many closed-in tables; whereas, the outside patio was less formal but equally compact. Inside was very ornate of Belgian and German styles, while outside was casual and simple. Minimal natural lighting entered inside through the few windows and door opening and of course plenty outside while dim electric ceiling and table lights filled in both areas. There were no TVs nor any background music because chatter was everywhere. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=bYpvTBTNnDqaLvrEqNtYtA ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Town Crier Pub had me laughing, talking, and people watching for a relaxing afternoon and would gladly return. The number of beers available both on tap and in bottles was insane and I loved it! The food menu was expansive. The food was fine but nothing special, and the prices were relatively comparable. But, it was the service and staff that literally reeled me in for a good time. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $50.00CAD BEFORE any discounts/tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice...
