I used to come here fairly often pre-covid and it was a cozy locals Polish pub. Decided to go back and try it again recently. Food - (3/5) - had the Beef Goulash which has been on the menu for years. This time it seemed to have lost some of it's lustre. Less flavourful then before and not a lot of beef in the sauce. Sides were ok but nothing spectacular. The Schnitzel used to be another favorite but didn't try it this time. Service - (3.5/5) - similar to before the service was average. Not sure what it is but you just don't get that welcoming feeling from the server/bartenders here. Food and drink came out fairly quickly though. Atmosphere - (3.75/5) - its a small place with lots of ethnic artifacts on the walls. Wooden tables, small bar and some TVs. They do seasonal decorations which is a nice touch. Overall - (3.5/5) - its an ok place and maybe it's a better experience if you are Polish? Personally, Barrel House (Ukrainian) down the street is a better choice imo. read more

I traveled 4 hours from Scarborough to go to this infamous Christmas pub. The decorations did not disappoint- I wish I could say the same for the service. The bar was incredibly full and they didn't allow for walk ins which was disappointing because it didn't indicate anywhere online that we could call and make reservations for our group of 6 (in hindsight we should have been more thorough and called to book.) I was seated at the bar and didn't get serviced for half an hour so it's disappointing to say i didn't get to try any food or drinks. We decided to check out the Albatros Pub and see how they set up the Christmas decor. The ambience was something else alot for the eyes to see. The decor alone is enough to come and have a drink! We order the Escargot and Albatros Bread as Appetizers. I ordered the goulash with polish style gnocchi. My girlfriend ordered the cottage cheese and potato Perogies. All mains came with side salads (coleslaw, beet salad and a bean salad). Our Appetizers were good. I enjoyed my escargot and for 9.95 it was a solid starter. Gooey cheese and served with side garlic toast. I'd definitely get it again. The Albatros toast was interesting. It was mushroom and bacon garlic bread topped with raw onions and BBQ sauce. It was ok I don't think we would get it again. It was smokey and sorta like a barbeque beef melt. I guess we were expecting something different. My goulash was good, meat was tender and served with lots of gravy. The gnocchi was good just lacked flavor and a little overcooked. The salads were a pass. Not really my thing and I don't think they can be subbed. The Perogies while tasty were a little overcooked for our liking. I like my perogies more firm. These were a bit soggy. I think these are a pass next time. Conclusion : We would still stop by the Albatros Pub. The decor is fun especially during the holidays. I think we will stick to getting drinks and trying out the bar style food. Note it was very busy at the pub and service was a little slow so keep that in mind if eating here. If you want to experience the ultimate Christmas Pub you gotta check out The Albatros. They go all out with decorations for every holiday and the Christmas is one of my favourites. Santa's are literally EVERYWHERE. Even when it isn't Christmas the pub has a nice cute cozy vibe. The menu is mostly Polish and Eastern European dishes which are all fantastic. Most mains are around $17 but come with sides so you won't leave here hungry. Good beer selection too with all kinds of options. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the South Etobicoke area. read more

A cute little pub hidden away on Lakeshore. It fits a nice portion of about 40-50 people into the entire place, run by a few waitresses. They're pretty quick about getting your order and are happy having anyone come there. We came with a party of 30 for a celebration and it was really fun time! My second time to the Albatros and, I dunnnnnnoooooooo mannnnnn! The first time was kinda basic, quiet, and an essential visit for sustenance. This time we were going for a special occasion and either the staff here are terribly trained, or they're just bad people. Albatros is decent local Polish pub with a pretty good selection of European beers, I was able to get a frosty mug of Hacker-Pschorr which was amazing. And they have a pretty decent list. The pub is sort of in the midst of an identity crisis, somewhere between a dive bar, a euro-pub, an irish pub, a world cup party, and like maybe a cabin? Is that what a Polish pub is then? If so, it's 5 stars, otherwise I'm confused. The food is kinda A-OK, I took a chance and ordered escargot as an appetizer while deliciously coated in garlic butter and cheese, it was more mushroom caps than escargot, I think there were 2-3 escargot for 6 mushroom caps. I'm not sure if this is intentional or maybe they ran out? TBD The rest of the food seemed to be ok. I ordered a burger which was admittedly frozen by the server but also made in house, not bad. The real ball drop here is the service, over 30 minutes for food which they claim is due to everything being made to order fresh (maybe not a frozen burger) but we were left waiting a long time for basically everything, servers seemed to be either overrun or not interested. One member of our party arrived late and after waiting 35 minutes for a pork souvlaki special. He went to ask if he could just get it go and the server rolled her eyes annoyed, and walked away. The other server had to cover for her rudeness and apologize saying"just a second". The food was then brought to the table anyway because it was an imposition for them. Then to add injury to insult, the failed to tell us that the metal skewer had been sitting with the food under the heat lamps for a long time and was likely blistering hot, our group member singed his fingers. Honestly, I've spent way too much time at the Albatros while I was a student at Humber a couple of years ago. Just a short walk from the Lakeshore campus, the 'Tros is a refuge for hungry students and thirsty locals. They have amazing happy hour and cheat eats that will save you from the overpriced cafeteria menu at school. This pub is great when you just want a quick bite of chicken fingers and a pint while you finish that essay that's due in two hours. The menu is basic pub food - think burgers, deep fried meat, pierogies and such. They also have a great selection of draught and canned beers and bar rail deals. The place is what it is. A quiet community pub that caters to its neighborhood. If you are looking for fancy, I'd look elsewhere, but if you want a good time and cheap drinks, the 'Tros will welcome you and your kin anytime. read more

I went to visit a few friends in Toronto, one of them proposed the Albatros Pub as a dining spot. This small and homey Polish bar was one of the funest place I've been in a while! The beer selection, while not mind blowing, was respectable, and had a heavy leaning on an Central/Eastern European selection. We ordered a pitcher of Hacker Dunkel, a Dunkelweizen from southern Germany. It was a deliciously balanced beer, more on the sweet side. I ordered a schnitzel with pan-fried mushroom, fries, and some side veggies. The schnitzel was juicy, crispy, and cooked just right. I would totally order again. Maybe the one with an egg on top next time. The choice of starches was between fries and "potatoes", which are boiled and spiced up with dill. My friend ordered them and they looked amazing. This is one of those pubs that make you feel like you've just fallen into a nightmare of trinkets. No inch of wall is left open for the eyes to rest. But, we're here for the food and not the decor .... or are we? The food was not too bad. The borsch was nice, if not a little under seasoned. Coming into this little pub it felt a little dingy. But homey feeling. Anyway we were seated with our group of six and it took a bit of time for the waitress to get our drinks. We had ordered three of the platter for two and wow did that ever took a long time. I feel like the waitress should have came over to let us have a heads up of how much longer we would have to wait. My friend's boyfriend's water was refilled yet my friend's water was also empty and the waitress didn't fill hers up... I don't know if they were short staffed or not but I did not like the waitress' attitude. A little unpleasant. There was a lot of food that came on these platters and I'm pretty sure that we could have shared two platters instead. The food almost made up for the sub par service. It came with two delicious schnitzels that had the taste slightly of a cinnamon beaver tail :D Very moist but crispy on the outside. Also came with some mixed perogies and sour cream, beet slaw, carrot coleslaw, and four potato pancakes. OMG I was so stuffed. The beet slaw was very tasty and creamy but not too creamy. Albatros has the classic pub food menu with the addition of some Polish favourites like pierogi, pork schnitzel, goulash and ogorkowa. It is not a fancy place or even the best place to try Polish food but the fair prices and friendly atmosphere make up for it. I found their pierogi and schnitzel to be too greasy. Excellent low-key Polish pub with a few great European beer choices, I highly recommend Czechvar-a Czech Lager and Hacker Dunkel -dark Germal Lager. My friends ordered chicken souvlaki and some kind of a schnitzel sandwich, both loved their food. I wasn't hungry but the menu does have a few vegetarian sides that I can eat next time, might even offer mushroom perogies, I'll check for sure next time I go. Service was great, very attentive and we loved the large comfy booths that each can fit 10 people, really great for families and groups. Etobicoke Lakeshore is not well served in terms of pubs so this place really does the trick if that's what you're looking for. I don't know the first thing about polish food so I can't talk to that part of the menu. They have all the pub staples, of course. I've always liked their chicken wings. The service is fast and friendly. They served their beer in icy cold glasses. You don't see that everywhere, right?! It's got a warm atmosphere and you should see the place right now with Xmas decorations! It's worth to go just to see that! It's really something! My husband and I have been coming here about once a month for the past 2 years. The schnitzel, liver and onions and perigees never ever disappoint. Large portions, home made non greasy cooking. When we've ventured away from those traditional dishes , I would say they were good, but not nearly as tasty as the plates above. Great value for what you pay. Service is good...there were a couple of months in the summer where new wait staff was not good at all- bringing our dishes 10 mins apart, but they have regular staff again and service is awesome- (Kate is fantastic). So next time you want a hearty comfort food type meal that is really well made, make sure to go here. Don't forget to to order a cold pint - they don't do half pints. They also decorate the place amazingly well during holidays which makes it extra special. $15 James ready pitchers. Great music. Delicious food. It's a good place for Humber students to grab some beer and meet friends, as I did numerous times. Did I also mention my girlfriend and I had our first date here? A mutual friend invited us to hang out there with him individually, then he left after ten minutes and left the two of us to chat. We hit it off sitting in the sofa next to the bar, and have returned to that exact seat numerous times to grab a beer or wings or whatever we crave and relive it all over again. The atmosphere, food, and beer have a huge role in this, if it was a hole of a place, we probably wouldn't have connected in the way we did, so for this, I am infinitely thankful to Albatros. read more

I didn't go here to have dinner. I went here to look for a bar to frequent in since I just moved in the area. So please keep in mind that the 5 stars is not for the food. It's for service, drinks (tried all the beers), and atmosphere. LOVE the ambiance of this place. It has a European tavern feel to it. However, if they add just one more decor, the place would easily become tacky. Service is ok. I wish the bartenders would interact with customers who are non-Polish (like myself) more. And I wish they would play some music too. But between the other bars in the area, Albatros is definitely going to be my home bar. read more

This is a stock-standard polish pub. The food is very basic polish dishes, the pirogies aren't bad but I tend to find everything I've ordered gets surrounded by too much cabbage/salad. Beers on tap are standard, a few polish draughts but other than that it's not somewhere I'd choose to go for anything other than a home-made hot meal. The setting of the bar is very clean and gives a nice homely feeling. However it took the waitress forever to seat us, while other patrons stared and made us feel awkward. My wife and I have been coming to this restaurant for quite some time now and we love this place. The interior is very well decorated and always follows the seasons theme. Thing we love the most is all the polish specialties. Pierogies, barshch, beef goulash , pork schnitzel even tripe. We never had a bad meal. Prices are amazing if you compare them to any frenchise restaurant, and portions are huge! Apetizers alone are like a meal each.
