He had Roasted Garlic Ravioli (Truffle cream sauce, peas, parmesan, garlic toast), which he liked and said he'd get again. I'd wanted Chicken Parm but they'd run out. So I had Chicken Curry (A house-made favourite since 1987, served with basmati rice, buttered naan). It was okay. It had a bite to it but there wasn't much chicken. I wouldn't get this again. I've frequented this place because of its location. It's at the end of my bike ride and I'd often pop in for a beer. I'll be honest it wasn't great. There weren't many other options, but this place has has a management change or something because they've really become much better. The service now is really caring and friendly. Ordered calamari and fish and chips. They looked visually appealing but both were very greasy and clearly cooked in reheated oil. It was awful. The map of London cover the walls along with art statements. There are TVs on every wall making it a great place to watch games. The food is pretty predictable pub fare that you would expect from a Firkin- not overly exciting but consistent and good. We were kinda stuck choosing Firkin as they were the only dog friendly patio on this block of restaurants but we were very happy with the decision. The hostess was super sweet and managed a very busy patio on Sat night with ease and efficiently. She was very accommodating to my very fearful rescue pup ( much appreciated!!). The sangria is prob ons if the tastiest I've had in a while- simple and not too strong, the salad and chicken sandwich was satisfying, the hash browns SOO GOOD!!! This british style pub is just by the lake in Humber Bay Shores area in Etobicoke! Since the patios are open and this is nearby my place.. I went here to give it a try. Have been to other firkin's before but I vouch for this one.. went here a couple of times in the past 10 days already! Ordered a pint of beer and Fish and Chips both the times.. consistency is the key and they deliver it. Also the service here is great, we had to wait for a but because they don't do reservations and only first come first serve. The view of the Toronto skyline is pretty amazing. We went for brunch. I must say, it wasn't bad. I had the full breakfast - it was just not the best sausage I've had. Honestly, I think if they did a traditional English breakfast with a solid farmers sausage it would be pretty darn good. The breakfast flatbread was pretty tasty. Pet lovers can bring their small pups and tie them on the other side of the fence. There is a smokers area outside, I don't like the smoke so I sit away from that area. You can see the city lights and walk the path. You get the city beauty without having to go through the parking and people pollution. It's a nice calm area with friendly happy peeps. Food: **** It's delicious and well prepared. The nacho plate is huge and you can add on guac. The toppings are fresh and plenty. Just no queso but that's my thing maybe. The chorizo tacos are yummy. You get 2! I'm a shorter person but it filled me up! I've also had their basa fish. Fish was yummy but a tad bit on the salty side. But not to worry I had the watermelon refresher!!!! CHECK YOUR BILLS!!!!! THEY MIGHT PUT EXTRA STUFF ON IT I came with 10 friends and we all asked for separate bills. Each of us had 2 beers and some food. When we finished and it came to settle - she double checked who will be paying for what and we all explained what we had ordered. But then she ended up saying we had an extra 3 beers unaccounted for. After going back and forwards with her, we asked for the manager. The manager explained the system, how the waitresses order drinks, how the bartender pours them, and how they get delivered to the table, a system she claims was fool proof. I asked for her to look at the camera and count how many beers we actually had delivered, but she could not do it at the time for some reason. After further arguments she said if we leave (without paying for the beers we did not order or drink) we will be blackballed from ever coming back. We decided to pay for the beers, but mentioned that we will not be tipping for twice the beer costs in the future, as we are frequent visitors. At this point the manager decided she will give us a voucher to cover the cost of the beer if we promise to tip during future visits. She explained, she could not give let us walk from the beers that were put in the system due to the corporate policy. -------- Previous review --------- Pros: - nice patio - known quality (Same as any other firkin) Cons: - They keep running out of food and drinks - Manager does not take criticism well, says the kitchen is small to have all supplies This is the second time I have been at the restaurant. The first time we came on a Monday (They were supposed to have discounted burgers) but they claimed that since it was a Holiday the specials did not count. On top of that they ran out of burger meat (How is this possible? Go the the store next door, buy beef and you are back in running!) We ended up ordering fish and chips and nachos, it was good. Second time, during game 5 of baseball playoffs they ran out of 2 types of beer, One Butler is their house brand. I was really disappointed at this level of service and asked to talk to the manger. I told her that it is not acceptable for them to run out of food and drinks, and that they should put something else on special once they run out of food. She was not happy with my suggestion, and said that it is not her fault, it was a long weekend so their beer supplier did not deliver on Monday... (As if you did not know that ahead of the time, that it was a long weekend and could not have made any other plans to get the supplies in). She said she cannot put anything else on sale since it is corporate decision. I am not going here ever again, I will go to Eden across the street from now on. I wish the bar good luck with new restaurants and bars that will open up in the area in the future, this place will be empty. I came here for dinner the other day with my friend who raved about the Butter Chicken. At the risk of FOMO, when he ordered it I ordered it too lol I made the mistake of expecting it to be like curry but it was more of a pulled chicken texture. The consistency threw me off and the dish was extremely salty, whereas the rice was totally bland. I would've preferred if it was closer to a curry dish and less salty. Also, the rice should be jasmine or some kind of flavoured rice so there's less of a stark contrast between the sauce and rice. I ordered a dessert hoping to salvage my meal and opted for the creme brule cheesecake. Unfortunately, it wasn't very tasty either. It just tasted like syrup on a really thick and dense. I much prefer a flaky and moist cheesecake. The service is what saved my experience here- my server was so nice and quick to refill water. She laughed at all our lame jokes and was great to talk to lol I think I made the mistake of trying ethnic food at a pub place so I'll be trying the fish and chips. read more

Came here on a last minute decision and was pleasantly surprised by the food. The service was slow at times, especially since it wasn't overly busy - that's why I removed. Star. First off - the location is awesome! When patio season hits, I can see how it would be jam packed! It's a 5 star for location. Food - I opted for the ahi tuna poke bowl since the kitchen was amazing enough to make it gluten friendly - removing the tempura green bean and subbing for plain steamed, which were delish! This place worth coming for the lake view! I came here to meet my friend and enjoy the lakeside in this warm season. I didn't expect much from the restaurant, however, ended up with a positive impression about food and service. We ordered a couple of drinks and nachos for snacks. The portion was big with a few sauces on a side for comparatively small price. The waiter was very friendly and offered to refill my coffee every time I got it finished (I drink a lot of it btw). Staff here is so used to the fact that people come here for a nice view that they do not pressurize you to take a bill and leave as soon as possible. I certainly can't stand idly by while a new local spot (and something the community has been waiting for) is being punished during their first week in operation due to some minor hiccups. Jeez, has anyone ever heard of opening day/week jitters. Folks, listen to me for a second, any of you who follow my reviews know that I'm not about a chain most of the time. Given the choice I did a mom and pop shop or indie biz over the big guys any day of the week. And because of this I tend to judge the chains harsher than others because they have the frame work, training manuals and money to be perfect, so if they're anything but that they really have no excuse. That being said, when a chain does something cool, original and outside the box, I gotta give them there due and Firkin On The Bay is doing just that. Something cool, different and exciting. I was in on Wednesday this week from 11am until about 5:30 pm working from the bar and got to observe their staff and operating procedures. First off the space is brilliant, it's almost a cartoon industrial look with expose fixtures and pipes only in bright fluorescent colors. Pair that with quirky fun graffiti, art and furniture all with a UK feel/vibe and it makes for an aesthetically cool place to be. The real winner here is the view of the Toronto skyline either from inside behind the floor to ceiling window, or from the wrap around patio out front. It's amazing by day so I can only imagine what it would look like at night. My server at the bar was on point with all key messaging, specials and solid menu recommendations. After having a Guinness to start my day I eventually ordered the butter chicken dish which was not exactly true butter chicken but a British pub inspired version. It was more of a butter chicken stew stop red curried mashed potatoes. As relish twist to an Indian classic. I really enjoyed the spin on this dish. I think it's important to remember that there will be small quirks and bumps in any businesses first week(s) and the point is to not skewer the business online but to accept that this is a normal thing and to come back in a few weeks to get a better sense for the true experience. Popped in for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon, as we spotted their sign while walking along the lake. Despite its massive size, it was fairly quiet, but I think that was due to the time of our visit and not the food quality. We were seated immediately and our waitress was over shortly thereafter., took a drink order and off she went. When she returned, she told us their daily specials, asked if we had any questions about the menu, took our order and left. Didn't catch her name but she's a ginger with glasses. Great server. 2 of us decided to share their hummus platter...warm pita, fresh tomatoes, cucumber, carrots, celery, olives and a deliscious red pepper hummus. We also shared their fish tacos...basa with pico de gallo, guacamole, lettuce, with a slightly spicy chipotle sauce on a warm white tortilla. The order came with 2 tacos, which made sharing easy. They were fantastic...not greasy at all, which has been my experience at other places. The 3 person ordered their daily special of 1lb of wings for $10. While he woofed them down, he said they were typical of wings you can get anywhere nowadays....but he still enjoyed them. Would go back if in the area again. read more

Went with some friends a few months back on a trip to Toronto. Had great service and the food was delicious. I ordered a Shepard's Pie because who doesn't love comfort food mid January after a 15 minute walk along the water to this little gem. Friends ordered other traditional British dishes - fish and chips, and one ordered fish tacos and said they were fantastic! The decor was probably my favourite thing - so British! My only qualm was the table - we were seated in the middle of the restaurant in a booth that would likely accommodate 6 in the summer, but given the amount of clothing we had to take off upon coming inside, we 5 felt rather squished. Firkins are multiplying like bunnies all over Toronto. If you HAVE to go to one, go to this one. It's a little out of the ways (less of a crowd) and right on the water. The view of the harbor is great as you relax on the patio during a summer day, or you can people watch as people stroll up and down the main street. Beware of wind though, last time we were there it was super windy and everything required a paperweight. The food is typical pub food, all the staples are there with no surprises. My daughter and I have been to other Firkin's and always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. We walked in expecting the same of this location. Yes, the view is beautiful and the patio is a good size. The service was very slow. Our waiter didn't seem to want to be there, after we finally ordered, my dish came first, after waiting a while for my daughters dish we asked the waiter where her order was. When he came back he told us that the dish had gone to another table. We didn't have to wait too long for her dish to finally arrive. I ordered the Classic Spuds (there was nothing on the menu that appealed to me) it was extremely salty, I tried to eat it but I really couldn't. I asked the waiter for some plain fries, which he brought, it was a lot less salty but still salty, I had about 1/3 of it and gave up. My daughters Shepherd's pie was the same, very salty, somebody needs to tell the chef that salt is a seasoning and not a food group. Our waiter didn't seem too impressed with the fact that I only wanted a coke (I was driving) and my daughter had a water. After eating all this salt we really needed more water, again I had to ask for it, the waiter really didn't seem to want to be there. He brought two glasses of lukewarm tap water, no ice and no straws. We are not drinkers and usually just ask for water, which is not a problem at other restaurants. All in all it was a bad experience, I usually tip 20+% I stuck to the recommended 15% and that was just because I didn't want to offend. Won't be returning there, there are many other places who do appreciate their customers. I noticed more commends on here about the food being too salty, you'd think they would heed these commends. My partner and I were pretty excited that a "British" pub was going into this location; we live very close and were hoping it would be good enough to become our "local". When it finally opened, we were pretty disappointed - the atmosphere is not what we'd hoped. Too modern, and missing that warm and friendly character traditionally associated with pubs. Let me be clear: we've given this place a fair shake, despite the fact that the atmosphere doesn't suit us. We WANTED to love it, and we've eaten here 4 or 5 times, at various times of day. The food is never terrible, but it's never very good, either. The service varies somewhat between casually negligent and hostile. My impression, reinforced with each successive visit, is one of swarms of aloof servers, whose attentions are rarely directed towards their customers. Never bad enough to complain to a manager, but not good enough to make me feel like the tip paid was actually deserved, either. This afternoon's brunch was pretty forgettable. We were seated right away (that was nice) but then waited....and waited...for someone to come take our order. Once our server got around to visiting our table, we both ordered the British fry-up, figuring it would be pretty hard for even an indifferent bar kitchen to screw up. When our meals arrived, the sausage was unappealingly lukewarm, and everything else was merely okay; definitely below our standards for a Saturday brunch in a food-centric city like Toronto. The final eyebrow-raiser was when we were finally offered coffee refills - after we'd asked for the bill and it was clear that we were leaving.
