Power 106 has been incorporated more throwbacks along with their currents in the past year and I've been enjoying this Hip Hop & Throwback direction that the station has taken. I stopped listening to Power for a while from 2023-2025 and been listening to Real 92.3, KDAY, 102.3 KJLH and The Wave but since the throwbacks came into mix, I've been listening to five stations depending on my mood. read more

I've been a longtime listener of Power 106 and have even won tickets a few times before, so I normally wouldn't leave a complaint. I really enjoy the station overall. I was caller number 10 today 5/1/2026 for the Katt Williams ticket giveaway, but the interaction with the man answering the phone lines for DJ E-Man felt pretty rude. When I got through, I was told I didn't sound excited enough. I explained that I was in the car and my baby was sleeping, so I couldn't be loud, but instead of understanding, they hung up and immediately moved on to the next caller. What made it more frustrating is that the next caller didn't sound overly excited either just speaking normally and still got through. That inconsistency didn't feel fair. Again, this isn't a complaint about Power 106 as a whole because I've always enjoyed listening and participating. I just think this particular interaction could have been handled with a bit more understanding and professionalism. read more

Same 5 songs over and over again. Not to mention the Drake hate on Brown bag mornings is crazy and annoying lol. I've stopped listening completely. read more

I skip 105.9 in the mornings because brown bag is sooo annoying. All they do is talking about nonsense and don't ever play music. Everytime I listen it's either them blabbing about stuff no one cares about, like their personal life's or it's a commercial. Brown bag is insufferable. read more

I hate to sound like everyone else but it's true. This radio station is a shadow of what it was before. Yes, new music for the most part is hot garbage. That has alot to do with it. It feels like they are aggressively shoving this trash music down our throats. I dont really feel the crew's dynamic neither, feels forced. I skip brown bag every morning. Just please play something decejt from the streets, not this corporate mess read more

This stations needs to play more old school hip hop and rap like back in the day. This hasn't play anything decent since the 90's and 2000's. Since Felli Fell left and they dropped the throwbacks, I find myself listening less. I used to listen to it because this station has played a major role in my growing up and boy this station has been through so many phases since its inception in 1986. Hell I even remember when they were LA's Party Station in 1995-96 when they were playing going through their deep house phase when they were playing Planet Soul, The Bucket Heads, Lina Santiago along side their Hip Hop/R&B. read more

I was excited to win tickets! I went to the office to pick them up. But I had a bad experience with some guy called Kris in receptionist area he had some weird hair bun. I didn't think I would have a problem. I went with my mom to pick up tickets because I was stoked I won! But when my mom went to the restroom. This guy was trying to have a conversation with me in a flirty weird creepy way. He definitely didn't seem to know what he was doing. Before we walked up to the front he was distracted on his phone. The station needs to have better people who are professional at the front desk. I don't think I'll participate on Power 106 station to pick up tickets anymore after my experience. I felt very disturbed and uncomfortable. I love listening to Power 106! but if you have people like this? I rather not support the station. Making it hassle for winners to want to pick up tickets without being asked for your number or instagram handle. read more

I won tickets on the radio. It's been over a week and nobody has contacted me. I've tried calling and all the calls go directly to voicemail. I've emailed them and nothing. I'm afraid the lady who took down my contact info got it wrong. She was super rude and rushed. I don't think I'll be getting my tickets :( read more

Got scammed by one of their Ads, can't believe they would even have that on the air. Resort Save is a big scam, they tell you that you won a vacation and you just have to pay $200 but make it sound so believable. In reality they're just stealing your money. Never listening to p**** 106 again read more

This review is solely based on interactions I've had with the Power 106 trucks at different events. This one is particularly about the event at LA Bacon Fest. During the L.A. Bacon Festival, Power 106 TORE IT UP! Teddy, was so funny with all his shout outs, and the music was truly bumpin'! What would've been a very chill food fest, turned into a crazy energy packed "power" house with dancing, head bouncing, toe tapping, cheering, and dance competitions! The DJ changed the music often enough so that people didn't get bored, and the crowd was HUGE!!! Everyone loved it! Forget all the other music trucks out there! Even if you're not a hip hop fan, you'll be sure to find the life of the party around the Power 106 truck! read more

the radio stations in general suck these days... too much "Boom Boom Pow" and club music replays all damn day. I'm better off listening to my ipod for some real hip hop and heavy metal, etc. The Wake Up Show at night is when they play the best music! I'm seriously tired of listening to club music on a Sunday morning! I mean shit, play some ROOTS or DEAD PREZ or SOMETHING ELSE other than the same old Souljah Boy crap! read more

Should be re-named to Chris Brown 106. Their playlist must only consist of 5 or 6 songs set to repeat, Go Crazy and Big Energy in particular. Also, way too many ads. read more

I won a $1000 text the phrase on 11/12/2020 and have been sending the required docs for my winnings several times and there's only 1 email to contact and that's Brian de la torre. I keep trying to contact someone to make sure you have received what's needed for my prize multiple times but no success. Please let me know what else do I need to do besides what was requested in order to confirm my winnings. I keep getting the run around and no where to be contacted. I have tried calling the front office and headquarters but again no success contacting anyone. I have sent what is needed can anyone confirm my prize and receipt of my emails. Thanks please check your emails as I got a final notice to accept and send docs. I have sent multiple emails confirming my acceptance. read more

Why are they playing Spanish music on hip-hop station ...are they playing our music on their station? Like we don't understand the music ....we can't have nothing read more

I used to like it when big boy was on it. The morning show, now, SUCKS!! Lame playlist. Childish jokes. A bunch of nobodies asking people to call the show to help them out with ratings. read more

I gave up on listening to this radio station because its beginning to play more Spanish language so call hip hop music every other song is bad bunny which is ridiculous We need an English only r&b hip hop station The Latino Hispanic agenda have taken over power 106 and they come in a change things they like to mix blend and integrate their culture with everything. I won't be surprised if in a few more years they start playing mariachi music on power 106. Horrible station read more

No Lie, I was ecstatic to win 1000.00!!! It really does take a while to get it though, at LEAST 2 months. I got mine and now I'm happy! Not to sound ungrateful, but it was a surprise to have to wait that long for it..Most people (like myself) aren't trying to win 1000.00 because they don't Need it like Now. You know? So it was a bit of a hard pill to swallow to have to wait 2 & a half months to get. It's been really hard to accept and left me anxious every day. But I finally got it! and I'm Still happy I WON! Maybe i'll just be calling for tickets next time lol P.S. the secret is.. Call in the MORNING to win! I never got through in the afternoons.. And the (blonde) Receptionist was nice TO ME i see alot of people have a lot reviews on her. But she was nice when I went both times... read more

First I would like to say thank you to power 106 for my Disneyland tickets and $1000. I'm truly grateful and blessed. I went to the station about two days ago to pick up my tickets and the receptionist at the window was very, very rude! I didn't even get a"WELCOME TO POWER 106" NOTHING!!!! Smh she literally grabbed the paper work with an attitude and told me to have a seat! People like this shouldn't work for a company let alone think she is the shit just because she works at power 106. I hope this person is addressed in her wrong! But, like I said thank you for everything read more

Because I commute in the mornings, I've always listened to what I like to call the trifecta of mainstream morning radio: Ryan Seacrest, Carson Daly, and Big Boy. What makes all three of these radio hosts so great isn't really that they're funny, but there's a kindness in their voices that make you really like them. Big Boy's Neighborhood was an excellent mix of humor, news, and music. I listened to him for well over a decade and have heard him make jokes, get choked up after 9/11, refuse to play R. Kelly and Chris Brown's music during his show after their debacles...he just seemed like a very genuine person who loved doing radio. The Cruz Show is the absolute opposite of all of this. I'm sure it's not a new opinion, but this morning really grated my nerves. First, they claimed they were going to play Dr. Dre's new album in its entirety, back-to-back. Why then, did I only hear 45 seconds of it and then all his old hits from the 90s? Second, they had some stupid contest where listeners had to count how many times a recording of Dr. Dre's voice was played and whoever guessed the right number won $1,000. Fair enough. Why then, did these idiots COUNT each time they played the voice? Doesn't that dismiss the entire point of letting listeners count themselves? Finally, and I don't know the other hosts' names, but the female mentioned her niece's or cousin's 18th birthday, and the comments that followed were downright disgusting. The men on the show were like, "Oh 18 years old, she's legal! Yeeeaaah Madison give me a call!" and one of them even said something about pulling down her pants. How this stupid woman didn't get mad at these bozos is beyond me for being so inappropriate and gross. Then again, these people are super low class. Did they graduate from high school? Probably not. Did they attend college at some point? Maybe a class or two at Valley College? Who knows. They're ghetto and I hate that they're what represents Power 106 now. read more

Ok ok, honestly, im not even gona bother with the whole text to be 1006th person and win the best freakin prize u can ever hear of...let me tell you something man, that shit (excuse the french) is a set-up, there's is no way in hell i still haven't won, I'm always either caller 103...(not 106) or text 997 then i text again 1311...dude and im not talking about once or twice i do this on a daily basis, in the office i work at this is all that's playing(over and over again) but i hear it and i always do it...I'm telling you something is fishy about their contests...till further notice TFR read more

Rap: it has to be really good in order for it to be able to be listened to, in my opinion. Digable Planets, the Pharsyde, Kanye West (yeah, that could be argued, I know), Dr. Dre (the Chronic album), Notorious B.I.G., etc... But man, are they few and far between. I HATE R&B, or at least the garbage that they call R&B on Power. Puke. And those "Big Boyz got gas" billboard is insanely horrible. It make my skin crawl. Please die Power. Please die. read more

*******Update******** To my last post....they called me the day after my post. The receptionist of course changed her tune and told me they were looking into my money I had won and would call me back.....it's December....honestly power 106 has lost my listening. Make sure you guys don't bother with this radio station. It's so disorganized and sad to see that Jcruz would let this happen. Peace! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I cannot believe this show is still on. Poor guy. Honestly I'm sure he is a nice person, but his show just SUCKS. The whole Mexican vato voice is sooo like 15-20 years ago! It's a new era and he just sounds like an idiot. This was a terrible choice to replace big boy. I was reading a comment from JG. The comment said that JCRUZ has been doing this for almost 20 years and came a long way and that everyone who doesn't like him are haters. In not hating, the show just SUCKS and if he has been doing this for so long than he should know what's working and what's not. The vato loco era has passed dude. Know one Thinks that's funny. Even if all the other stations are on a commercial break I will STILL NOT put my ears thru the pain of listening to your radio personality read more

Power 106: Where Hip Hop Sucks. If I could give these ASSCLOWNS a negative score, I would. Maybe I'm especially bitter because I keep forgetting to bring my Ipod with me in the morning before work, or because I broke my concentration and scratched my front bumper on a pillar in my parking structure tonight as I cussed out Felly Fell at the top of my lungs for playing B.O.B. - Nothin' on You for the thirtieth time in the row during another uMix (doesn't uMix imply that listeners are picking the songs? Maybe I keep hearing this no-talent assclown B.O.B. because the handful of listeners remaining have THREE SONGS TO CHOOSE FROM IN THE *MOTHERFUCKING* PLAYLIST TO BEGIN WITH). Regardless, this station is the bane of my existence every time I turn to the radio seeking decent hip hop. Power 106 is, by far, the shittiest hip hop station in LA. They have so many mixdowns, you'd think they were in the baking business. What the fuck is a mixdown, anyway? Back to my original point: think about what I just claimed for a minute. I said it's the SHITTIEST rap station in LA. It takes a lot to beat out a station that gainfully employs Ryan Seacrest for that title. Well, tonight was the straw that finally broke the camel's back. Hey "Yesse," I'm not forgetting my Ipod tomorrow, and you and your merry band of Sir Mix-a-Lots can SUCK MY ASS. Look for me in the Mix Cam sometime -- I'll be flipping you the fucking bird. read more

I have tried sooooo many times to give Power a chance again after switching to 92.3, but I'm quickly reminded why I left within moments of tuning in. They have personal conversations that they sit there and giggle about for ten minutes. In addition, the morning chicks voice is so darn annoying in the morning. Clickity-clack, the Cruz show is wack. I'm Sorry. Scrap this team and start from scratch. read more

Super fun times at this place. I was scratching here a few months back with Live Radio on the wake up show with Sway, Tech and Dj Revolution. Super awesome guys. The sessions at this place are hella fun. Once the elevator door opens, and you walk down that hall, automatically your heart starts to pound. No matter how much practice youve had, you always get nervous when the realization of a live radio feed with your stuff is going to be aired and that comes with judgements, reviews, and opinions both by the people there, and those listening on the outside. I was a wreck. but oh well, super fun times. read more

Maybe it's because I'm getting older and have completely given up on the mainstream media entirely (haven't listened to modern mainstream media [went the indie route] for almost 5 years now) but there is just something about this station in where it has lost its touch. I remembered when this station used to play a whole lot of Hip Hop/Rap content. Now, they seem to have gone more along the Pop route to try to cater to a different crowd. I wouldn't think that it would be Power 106's fault for going down that route neither because today's MAINSTREAM rap is atrocious and I will never understand why people support it or why people say it sucks yet they listen to it anyways because they think they don't have any alternatives. It IS possible to listen to some good rap made my modern artists; you just have to get off your lazy bums and search for it yourself because you sure as hell won't find them in any mainstream radio station. Power 106, it is safe to say that you have seen better days. You have sold out to a different crowd and I can't respect a radio station that has sold out. It is time for me to move on as I have given up on FM completely and will now switch to a mobile phone from now on. UPDATE 1/24/16: I kept to my promise since the review. I have not once touched the FM dial since the review and have been using my phone since. I don't miss the way FM radio chopped and censored songs, I don't miss listening to DJ's, I don't miss commercials, and best of all I don't miss listening to the same content over and over and over again. The transition was not as painful as I thought it would be and it ended up becoming a change for the better. read more

Remember when Jay Thomas was the featured DJ on Power 106? If you do, then your @$$ must be old like me. My generation has grown up along with Power. I still remember when it was a Top 40 station. When they switched to House in the Richard Humpty Vizzion days. Reggaeton briefly, then R&B, and on to becoming a strictly mainstream hip hop station that it is today. It's one of my guilty pleasures. As much as I don't fancy mainstream hip hop, I catch myself flipping over to the 105.9 dial. Power is one of the reasons why I download 50 cent, Jay-Z, Snoop, Dr. Dre into my ipod. It's the reason I sing along to club bangers when I'm hammered at the clubs. It's the reason I can sing "In Da Club" along with my 12 year old cousin. It's the reason why I can still consider myself hip enough to understand the current day slang, jargon, and lingo the youngsters use. Not much a morning radio person during my commute to work. But when I need a laugh or two, Big Boy in the morning is a must for me. Tatoo is annoying but the likes of Luscious Liz and Eman on it's morning show makes listening well worth it from time to time. You have to admit Big Boy's phone taps in the early days were super hilarious!!! You also have to thank acts like the Baka Boys for introducing Tito to the world. Yes his jokes has gotten old but that dude was funny when he first came out. Power also brought you the Ikky freaky mix or the top 4 @ 4 to get you through your commute. You have to give it up to Power. They have endured all the changes in radio. They have assisted in bridging the gap between the listeners approaching our 30's to the young kids just barely understanding what music really is. Their format might not be the ideal music selection for me but my hat goes up to them for consistently providing good entertainment to our ears. Their playlist may be limited to 50 songs but it's the same songs stuck in your head for days. Can't hate on that! Power is a fixture in the LA scene. read more

The last time I wrote a review was about a year ago when I wn tickets and went to pick the them and found out Krystal the receptionist girl wasn't working there anymore. I have been winning tickets for years and honestly she was the best one you guys have ever had in the front. Very friendly, and always on top of her information and sending e-mails. The front area has become a joke with so any different people not giving the right information or being so unorganized, I always ask to speak to Fernando who seems to be the one to keep it all together up there, PLEASE! Having so many different people at the front who have no clue what they are doing, Vanessa is always on her phone and filming herself and has had me wait for tickets for 1hr and has been extremely rude on many occasions, the guy (I don't know his name) always puts me on hold for mins and is also extremely rude on the phone and in person. if they don't want to be up there get someone who does and can compare to the service the krystal girl gave. I really hope you guys take this feedback seriously because it is giving you guys a bad name and these people are representing your brand. and making it a hassle for winner to get information on ticket pick up and actually picking up tickets. MAKE THE POWER DESK GREAT AGAIN AND BRING A KRYSTAL GIRL BACK WHERE EVER SHE IS. read more

.thanks for the response about inquiries ......I'll be making this really interesting.....just responding to my emails aswell

Seriously, one word is necessary, iPod.. (or mp3 player for that matter). All they do is play the same shit over and over. You could set a play list on a computer and loop it and that is what they do. I really am disappointed with radio now and days and I am grateful that I have a good selection of mp3s so I am not forced to listen to their repeated garbage. Everything from their loud obnoxious commercials selling bail bonds (what kind of listeners do they think they have?) to Nissans with the rapid talk with the legal disclosures. OH and the BIGGEST tip I can EVER give you is if you are going to a venue and you see a Power 106 sponsor LEAVE, and go somewhere else. These people attract the biggest loosers so just listen to me on that. read more

Morning. I had a great time calling yesterday and talking about the craziest thing I've ever done in school. Didn't think I'd even have a chance to talk about it on the air. It was over 19 years since it happened. Great time talking about it. One thing, I don't know if I was suppose to wait to see if I hear my name called on the radio to win tickets. Was it for just yesterday or I'm a suppose to tune in on a certain time and date. Thanks. read more

I don't like the morning show because they seem to talk too much. If you need some energy for that commute or take out your road rage this station has rap. The music is mostly hip hop and R&B. They play the same songs so often you'll be able to fake psychic powers. This is a good parallel to the top 40 station (getting too close to be an alternative). read more

You make my drive better! The Morning Show, Phone Taps, Remix, Afternoon Remix and the Traffic Jam! Power 106 makes my commute better. You can find me driving all over Southern California and I'm listening to Power, from Santa Clarita to Oceanside the reception is good! I remember listening to 106 on the net when I lived in DC and I would be blasting it all over my place. I wish they would put it on Sirius so I could take it everywhere! read more

I don't think they have any of the tickets they claim to have. I've been calling religiously to win the BET tickets for 6/22. Today as soon as the music started I called-phone rang a male picked up he phone and said hello and then immediately hung up on me. I called right back and went to an automated message that sounded like "you won" then the line was discounted on their end yet again. Then no mention after that of who won. Smh. I'm not too confident that they actually have the tickets-May Just be saying that to keep listeners since the Cruz show left. Either way the music is on point but the ticket thing is no bueno. Please fix it expeditiously like TI said. read more

My favorite thing about Power 106 is listening to it on the drive to work. Big boy is hilarious. Especially when he crank calls people!! The music is about the same that they'd play on 102.7 however on a list of 1-5, I would place Power 106 as number five on the list... with one being the best. I listen to it, but it's not one of my favorites. read more
