Their format change to all of the jams from 80s and 90s is awesome! Listener for life here!

I can't begin to say how tired I am of calling this radio station on a daily trying to get information on the tickets I I've won tickets two separate times and never I mean never received a, email, or my tickets! It's so frustrating to know not even front desk will not answer the phone. They need a better way to handle their phone system. read more

I don't really listen to regular radio anymore on satellite radio, they play the same songs every hour on the hour the only thing that they are good for is the contest and concerts read more

I love the old school hip hop.But they should have played a decent amount of Tupac on the anniversary of his death.More Tupac,DMX,Ice Cube,Eazy-E,Snoop Dog and Dr Dre every day.The legends. read more

Love this station but I can't stand the skipping when the song is playing. Sound like it's a scratched record non stop. Anyone else notice this on the weekends? read more

Your advertising methods are complete garbage. So sick of hearing that idiot who screams on all your commercials. No one is going to want insurance or buy a car from that company just because of how obnoxious and stupid this guy sounds. Won't litsen to KDay again until this clown is in the unemployment line. read more

Without a doubt, the bestest darn hip hop station on the West Coast, if not the entire US! I discovered KDAY a few years ago on one of my frequent trips to LA, and was always bummed to come back home to the pathetic stations we've got out here. However, I was more than happy to learn that they also stream high quality audio on their website, so I've still been able to get my KDAY fix. Unfortunately, this was only beneficial when I had Internet access indoors, and not on the road or out and about. That is... until now. I was elated to find out recently that KDAY is available on the Tune In Radio app on mobile phones! Now, I practically have it blaring at home, in the car, and when walking on the street... 24/7. Although some newish songs are sometimes on rotation (typically the newest ones are at least five years old), the vast majority of the classic hits are from the 90's and early 2000's, bringing me back to my HS and college days. Obviously, since the station is in LA, there is a larger variety of SoCal artists, such as NWA, Ice Cube, Warren G, Mack 10, Dogg Pound, Rodney O. and Joe Cooley, DJ Quik, Dre and Snoop, etc. Of course, the birthplace of hip hop, NYC, is also well represented, with such artists as Biggie Smalls, Mobb Deep, NAS, KRS-1, Run DMC, Capone and Noreaga, The Lox, Shyne, LL Cool J, Wu Tang Clan, A Tribe Called Quest, Mos Def, Pharoahe Monch, and Jay-Z. I even heard some 'Lil Vicious the other day! The Bay also gets much love, as there is plenty of Too $hort, E-40, Rappin' 4Tay, Mac Mall, Mac Dre, Souls of Mischief, and Digital Underground, just to name a few. What I am most pleased about is that most of the music on KDAY is pre-crunk era, so we are not tortured by any of that dirty South garbage from the past few years. Best of all is the nonstop weekend mixes, with some of the more talented DJ's this side of the Mississippi throwin' it down on the 1's and 2's. Also, since this is an actual radio station complying with FCC rules, all songs are free of profanity, unlike on Pandora, so you don't have to worry about cranking it up at work or when children and old ladies are present. I am typically not one of those who complains about how crappy modern music is in comparison to the old days (this is a faulty argument, since comparing music from a random shorter period in time to an entire era spanning a whole decade or more is not entirely fair), but there is little doubt that as far as the airwaves go, the playlist on KDAY far exceeds just about any other station out there. As they say, per FCC rules, it's the *ish.* read more

I just read on the LA times that KDAY has been sold and will switch to a different format.WOW first they played power 106's leftover garbage, then let go of tat and Cece and now sold to a Chinese company WTF!.. the only old school hip hop station that plays west coast legends like tupac, dogg pound, DJ quik, ice cube, mack 10, WC, eazy e, dr dre, warren g and etc..i always enjoyed their tributes to the late rappers by putting a full hour of their music. during the late night hours the music gets better but they slowly were adding power 106's left overs and now i hardly hear any old school.from there its been down hill. since its coming to a end, i would like to thank everyone at KDAY for bringing back the old school. RIP Kday http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/music/posts/la-et-ms-kday-hiphop-radio-station-sold-chinese-format-20130410,0,4727631.story read more

Are you kidding me?!?!? HELL YEAH! Can you believe I discovered this station on the same night that I attended my first Yelp Elite event? Talk about the "Best... Evening... EVER!" This station lays down a huge mix of super old school tracks, mostly Hip Hop and R&B. Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of all the songs, but the fact that they play all the great songs from the early 90s that everyone seems to have forgotten on the shelf makes KDAY my new favorite station. One word: Smoove. read more

What's more old school that the Double-Mint Twins, the RTD, and the Getalong Gang? Yes, my fellow 30+ year old Yelpers, I am convinced KDAY was the station birthed just for us! Run DMC Xscape Sir Mix-a-Lot BBD 2-Pac TLC Heavy-D Montell Jordan En Vogue Juvenile Q-Tip The Fugees Musiq Soulchild Aaliyah The list could go on and on. Oh maaaan, there is not a song that is played on this station that does not have some sort of high school or college memory associated with it. Makes for good driving nostalgia. Just last week I was driving through the rich neighborhood (aka Hancock Park!) with Sisqo's "Thong Song" on FULL BLAST! Heck yes I was in my little Camry at a red light makin my booty pop! And many times I want to put my car in park and jump out to C-Walk when Dr. Dre's "Next Episode" comes on. That's what I love about KDAY. It's just good 'ole music and you can dance to. It makes me smile. It will make you smile too. 93.5 - KDAY all day! read more

KDAY is what all hip hop/rap stations should work towards being. I was hella sad when they shut down the old AM Station a long time ago . . . there just wasn't anything else in LA back then doing the work that KDAY did day in and day out. Young-Timers: Did you know that back in the day they didn't even PLAY Wu Tang Crew or Public Enemy on the "regular" radio stations? They thought it was too incendiary and today, it just sounds tame compared to many new cuts being played. Nevertheless, KDAY doesn't miss a beat all the day and night long. I was so pleased to have found it again on my trip back to LaLALand. Hadn't really heard it since the old station. Ms. [old] Ali read more

Ok, update. Back to 5 stars. Looks like they listened to their loyal hip hop following and are keeping it trill by going back to their 'old school meets new school hip hop". Props. I'm glad you guys are back. Please keep it trill this time. Stay up! One love read more

KDAY reminds me of nine deuce point trey The Beat (R.I.P.) and Power 106 during their competitive hey days. Lots of West Coast hip-hop love and some R&B from the 90s, up to the mid 2000s. Classic hip-hop at its finest. Bach eat your heart out. PRO: Hip-hop and R&B all day everyday; Dirty South underrepresented; West coast love. CON: Need more hip-hop music from the 80s; need more East Coast love; repetitive music if you're listening for a couple of hours, but that's radio for ya; 2Much 2Pac. read more

KDAY is one of my top five favorite radio stations in Los Angeles! Listening to the songs on this station brings me back to my highschool days. You can never go wrong listening to Kday any time of the day! read more

Sometimes, I find myself in the mood for mid-school hip hop (stuff that's been out an average of 5-10 years). KDAY is where I turn. They have a pretty extensive array of songs, so you're bound to hear something that you liked a few years ago, but totally forgot about. Some recent songs I've heard include: - Warren G & Nate Dogg / Regulate - Ruff Endz / No More - Paperboy / Ditty - Nas & Bravehearts / Oochie Wally I docked this station 1-star because their late night selection isn't quite as great. Also, their reception isn't that strong (you know how when you drive underground, some stations stay on point like KIIS and KROQ, but others get all static-y and sketch - this one is the latter) read more

KDAY is the best, but Tattoo has got to go. Why did POWER 106 drop him? Because he sucks. And he still does. GO AWAY TATTOO! read more

Back in the day, my friends and I would record these songs on cassette tapes off the radio and play them over and over for days on end. As a result, whenever I hear hip hop tunes from my middle school/high school years, much to my embarrassment, I can't help but bounce around and dance. Even in my car. Oh, the stares I get on the road... Thank you for making my drives to and from Torrance so much more enjoyable! read more

Rollin' down the street smokin' endo sippin' on gin and juice... Mind on my money and my money on my mind! I love KDAY! Everytime I'm in LA, I put the rental car radio on 93.5 and blast this shit while leaving the Enterprise parking lot. Shiet...all I need is my Hyundai Elantra, my smart phone and a little old school rap / hip hop and I'm complete. Holla bitches!!! read more

Who would ever go to yelp for a suggestion/criticism about a radio station? In any case, I'm astounded by this station. I'm 30, I grew up on All Eyez on Me, 2001, and Space Boogie: Smoke Odyssey. I've graduated to wu, alchemist, Jedi, statik, etc- but ok I digress... I've heard "callin out names" by kurupt. They play "ether" by nas on the random. "Hit em up" IN HEAVY ROTATION. Lol. I used to spit that whole 2 minute rant at the end at the lunch tables in 8th grade- and yes- they often play it thru to the bitter "My 4-4 make sure all y'all kids don't grow!" Some quik/digs free track I've never heard just came on. Right now. This is madness. Thanks kday- I called in and chatted w a young lady around 9am this morn. Aside from the prospect of potentially buying her some coffee, I'd love to know if CiCi the mamasita ever shouted me out! I was workin away:) Just keep it up. 4/5 tracks are just bangers, and the 1/5 are reminiscent slow jams of my lonely college days lol. "I used to be commander in chief of my pimpsss, flyin hiii-iighhh." Classic. I could go on. But nuff said. I even listen to the commercials through and through sometimes just to A) avoid hearing trap queen on any other station B) simply open myself to the potential of patronizing said businesses. No, I'm not gonna get a car title loan anytime soon- I'm gonna hustle. Legal hustle, that is ;) ~fín~ ..back to my random track from the "bow down" album. Literally this is some grungy-ass "cross-em-out-and-put-a-'K'" type shit. [[((Best Buy Insurance Guy---Best Buy Insurance Guy))]]..... Maybe I'll go check em out, i am payin way too dam much for my damn car insurance 4 real read more

I had a hard on when I heard K-DAY was coming back too back in 2004... good shit at first... made me feel young again... until Wendy Williams and Theo moved in... and when they started playing shitty stripper R & B tunes that barely make the top 500 on the billboards... thanks KDAY AKA 92.3 the BEAT... your fate will be just the same in about 5 years. KDAY = WACARNOLDS due to Dynamic Duo of Radio Ratings Rapage... Theo aka the Asian Barry White/Wong and Wendy "Manly" Williams and dick limping crappy R&B music. Thank you Kday for keeping it real and true to the people. This is music, you other sucker's, listen and learn.

KDAY is the best radio station on the air hands down. They play a range of artists from Warren G to Tha Liks to Scarface to Wu-Tang Clan. Sometimes they play what I call middle school dance anthems (I'm talking about Ciara, E-40, Lloyd, etc.) I never really listen to the radio unless it is KDAY (with the exception of HOT 92.3), due to the fact Power 106 plays nothing but Nicki Garbage and similiar artists. This music reminds me of being a little kid and listening to "California Love" by 2pac on 92.3 The Beat. haha In April, they sold their company to some Chinese owners. Save KDAY! We do not need another crappy pop station that plays Rihanna on the radio every five minutes! lol read more

This is my favorite radio station. This is the only hip hop station in LA that doesn't play Cardi & Drake 24/7. This station sounds like The Beat & Power 106 in the 90's and Early 2000's and I mean that in a good way. I'm almost 28 years old and I enjoy this station because their playlist matches my iPhone music library. read more

Holy hip hop! This station is off the hook! I love love love this station. This might be the only station that plays OG music. So excited whenever I am in LA to turn on the radio to hear the best! I'm hoping they stream online so I can listen all the way from SF. Keep it up KDAY people are listening! read more

Minds were blown when my husband and I were on vacation in Ventura County last summer and we got spotty signals of an amazing, mysterious 90s hip-hop station. One day we drove down 101 to the valley and we discovered how truly amazing KDAY is! We listened to Tribe Called Quest, Wu-Tang, and of course, Ice Cube, in a day and age where Miguel, Robin Thicke, and Drake are played over and over and over again. Wish we had something like this in the Bay Area. Can someone make it compatible with the TuneIn app? Please? read more

can you pls play rbz-whuss trilla

The GREATEST radio station I have ever heard has been bought out by the Chinese like most everything else has been and will be here in the USA. I used to listen online daily here in Tampa Florida and it got me through work daily when I was locked away in my miserable corporate cubical back in the day as my last job. Hell, I'd even get daily shout outs from Brandi on the Tweet at Twelve. Sadly KDAY stopped streaming online as I'm sure the new owners don't want to do so with the upcoming format change and things just haven't been the same. It was the only station my girlfriend and I could agree with as were ten years apart in age and with the awesome variety of music from throughout the decades both of could say "hey I remember that when I was a kid" while listening. How I miss KDAY online .... RIP KDAY. You did a hell of a job and the great times were appreciated. I'd buy a 40 ounce and pour some out for KDAY but sadly here in Florida they don't even sell those. I'm guessing a 32 oz of Old English will do in this case. I'm sure Eric Wright aka Eazy E would approve ;) Rob in Tampa read more

While I love listening to this station, what happens behind the scenes is why I am giving them two stars. The male representatives on the street team, including a radio host that was there, were very discriminating towards my friend and I. Because we were not Hispanic like the rest of the crowd, we were treated like we were beneath them and received dismissive attitudes. I spoke with the manager about the matter, and he apologized and promised to take action to correct the issue. But the manager did not keep his word and ignored my follow up email. read more

For the love of God please don't sell out! You're the only rap station I listen too! You're the only station in the Greater La Area that's dedicated to classic rap and hip-hop. You'll be hurting alot of people. I refuse to listen to today's "artists" like Nicki Garbage, Dreck, Lil' Lame, you get the idea. Please stick around an be a bastion for classic rap and hip-hop and show these kids how its done. read more

This radio station always plays the hits I love it. None of that garbage that's on the other stations currently.

I love this station and totally prefer it over Power 106, Kiis Fm, and all of those other pop music stations. The one complaint I have is that DJ whoever his name is, PJ Butter, Buttah, etc....I don't even care what his name is because he sucks anyway! Tattoo is gone and I liked him! He was stupid but funny in my opinion. This other guy is just DUMB!!! And someone needs to tell him to STFU on that Top 5 thing he does in the morning because that sh*t is NOT EVEN FUNNY! read more

Compared to how awful Power 106 is now (catering to 13 year olds), I gotta show KDAY some love and give it 5 stars...love hearing all the old jams.
