I went to this place this morning for the first time to get an estimate for a bumper. The facilities are nice and clean. They have a nice waiting area in the lobby. The staff is very friendly. I was rear ended at a red light, so I had a VERY minor bumper repair done. After picking up the car, I noticed the new paint wasn't even and had been placed onto the lower, differently colored plastic piece below. For example, it looked like how it looks when you attempt to paint trim work and fail to use the blue tape. There was also a new smudge/discoloration on my trunk, the items inside my trunk were tossed about so it looked like a tornado had passed through, and when I turned on my car, my radio was BLASTING on a radio station that they had programmed OVER one of my pre existing stations. Weird! I went back to point out the damage and the gentleman was very helpful. He agreed the work was BAD and was able to at least remove the new smudge with a cloth and rubbing compound. I made a new appointment to have the bumper done over where the paint hadn't been properly taped off previously, and after multiple follow ups on my part, to their credit, they agreed to pay for a day's rental car so I could get back and forth to the shop again. Afterward, it looked fine. At times, I found the phone and front service desk service lacking (not greeted in a friendly way, asked repeatedly in an accusing way if I had an appointment even though every time I tried to schedule one they said to "just come in," and hung up on accidentally during a conversation without a return call even though they had my contact information). However, the initial handling of the estimate was good as was the timeliness of the first repair. I also liked the online updates. VERY BAD EXPERIENCE! Five minutes after leaving Poway Valley Collision my car broke down on Poway Road leaving me stranded. I called Poway Valley Collision asking for some assistance and they told me they were too busy with other customers to help me. I had just written them a check for $2300. I understand they needed to help customers in their business but they could of said that as soon as one of our employees were free they would send them a mile down the road to help you. My car drove just fine when I dropped it off at Poway Valley Collision but when I picked it up the battery was just about dead and there was no oil in the vehicle. I called the next day and complained to the manager and I was told they could not help me, they did nothing wrong. I had a very bad experience. My car was in an accident and the rear passenger door was damaged. The other parties insurance had referred this collision center. Since it was close to where I work I choose them. I had dropped my car with them for the repair and when I picked my car the door was done but there was a crack in my wind shield. The crack wasn't there before the accident and it wasn't there even I dropped my car. They simply denied saying it was there before and it wasn't their fault. I strongly believe that something happened in the Collison center which they were not ready to take the ownership off. I had to spend another $300 to get it replaced. This is a very poorly ran establishment. People were fired during the course of work. The process took over two months for what seemed like a fender bender. I contemplated jumping off the roof of my house several times while I waited or my vehicle. I was emailed my vehicle was ready several times, but it never was. I paid extra expenses during the work process. After receiving my vehicle I had to take it back because the lights were not placed back in my, bumper fail off a the-car wash and I had additional scratches on v. Go here at your own risk. I have that beautiful red Mazda the triple stage process paint. When I got my car back, it looked better than new! I have a black Audi and tree sap had landed on the side of my car. I took it upon myself to remove the sap with a clay bar...after a few beers and with darkness falling I discovered that I had damaged the paint and wax would not cover it. I phoned Poway Valley Collision and set an appt. the following morning. I arrived around 720AM, they didnt open till 8am and a gentleman quickly came out to look at what I had done. He said he would take care of it. At 830 AM the same day I received a call that my car was ready and there was NO charge. I own a nearly pristine 2010 Shelby GT500 that spends most of the time parked in my garage and taken out occasionally to car meets, shows, and the occasional short drive to keep it from sitting too long. The odometer is just a few miles over 25,000 at the time of this review. Long story short, this car is my dream car, so when mice invaded my garage and set up shop inside the car I was very unhappy. As I do not have the space or the tools to deal with the issue myself, I spent a considerable amount of time researching and interviewing various body shops to find out who could best deal with the problem. After speaking with Poway Valley Collision, I decided to take the car in for a visual inspection and estimate. Ultimately I chose this company to handle the job. I could not have made a better choice. Mary, who has owned show cars in the past, understood what the car meant to me and the entire process couldn't have been handled better. The staff was helpful and treated my car like it was their own. The cleaning and repair process took somewhat longer than I had wanted, but this was due to the age of the car and availability of parts. I was also able to come and inspect the progress at any time I wanted, and communication about where the process was on a near daily basis was outstanding. I have my car back in like-new condition and couldn't be happier. As far as I'm concerned, I'm sold on Poway Valley Collision. They're the best, hands down. I have had PVC fix a few of my cars over the years. The end result is very good, but here's the problem that frustrates the hell out of my husband & I. NEVER EVER have we received our vehicles on the PROMISED dates, EVER. It screws with the rent a car place, & my insurance company. They always seem to be waiting for this part or that part, of course that adds to the estimate cost which means again we have to deal with the insurance company to readjust everything. It just seems like they do not have a system where they can be exact about anything. It doesn't come across as being professional. It is a pain in the ass to go back-and-forth with rental companies and insurance companies. Personally, I believe that they are trying to "stick" it to the insurance company, & then guess what? They "stick" it to us. I pray that I will not ever need a body repair shop for any of my vehicles ever again. They will never see me again I will never use them again if I have to have work done on my car. read more

I just got my car back after a nightmare of an insurance claim with the guy who hit me and i have to say this place has such a sense of efficiency, professionalism, honesty, and intengrity. they are very thorough and my car looks amazing. even more than that they were honest with the pricing and what i needed, and always kept in contact with me about the status of my car. they even finished a week earlier than anticipated! but the real kicker for me is the fact that after dropping off my car, i remembered i had left $60 in the center console. when i got it back it was there right where i left it. along with the rebull can i accidentally left so you know just how passionate they are about respect and integrity! i won't use another place as long as i'm in the area!! read more

Beware of bait and switch it was recommended to me by my insurance company as a shop that works with them directly, so I went and they quoted me $3500. The quote was from software that they used and told them exactly the parts needed and the work needed, I was there next to the guy! (which was the owner). So I said ok I'll go with you. Left the car, went on vacation to Mexico so I had no contact with them 10 days I came back and wasn't ready, finally gave me the car and the bill was almost $11,000.!!! Yes almost 11 thousand! How can you miss it by 300%!! Smells like dishonesty and abuse, they thought I wouldn't care since insurance and not me was paying so let's abuse, but they don't think that at the time to sell it is very different when the records show the car was in a $3500 collision than an $11,000 collision!!! It de-values my car! Then, they didn't even match the color you could tell immediately against the sun where it was painted! So they painted it again and again didn't match!! So the insurance rep had to intervene and when he showed up, he was buddies with the owner and said that was "industry standard" even though it was obvious the paint didn't match. So needless to say it was Crap and abuse of the system. I placed a formal complaint to the insurance company. Go somewhere else! read more

My car color is unusual (bright orchid metallic green, I think they call it), and they matched it beautifully. They kept me up-to-date on progress and coordinated with AAA so I paid nothing. To start - I have mixed feelings about my experience at Poway Valley Collision. When I initially walked into the shop, I was immediately impressed as I have been into several body shops and this was by far the most professional, clean and accommodating body shop I have ever visited. They have plenty of seating, a water cooler with larger-than-usual paper cups, tasteful decor (okay, they have fake flowers, but they are nice fake flowers!) and the people who work there are very friendly and knowledgeable. Once I signed all of my paperwork, they informed me that my target completion date was Thursday (I dropped off on Monday) and they told me that someone would call or email me each day to let me know of the progress. I'm going to be honest, I absolutely did not want a call or email everyday, AT FIRST. I never received a call or an email the entire time they had my car, so I called the shop on Thursday right before they closed only to have them tell me that my date in the computer was for Friday and the only estimate of time they could give me was between 3pm-5pm and that they would call me when it was finished. They never called. I had to get a rental car for the weekend, so I was pretty frustrated. They are closed on the weekend, so we called Monday and they told us that it had been finished on Friday and they had logged a call at 4:45pm....15 minutes before they closed for the weekend (plus, I never received a call from them). When I finally did pick up my car, they had forgotten to fix one of the interior pieces in my car and my taillights were two different colors. The actual body of the car looks great, and the woman who helped me was very friendly and apologetic for the errors and promised to call me when the two parts were in so I could swing by and have them fix the interior piece and taillight. So...I am happy with the end result of my car being fixed (or, I'm sure I will be once they finish the interior piece and taillight) and it looks great! ...but the actual follow up from the shop was horrendous - I am still upset that I had to call them just to have them tell me that my pick up time was pushed back...and again when it was ready. Definitely a case of over promising and under delivering. read more

Nice family owned place but don't know why they get the ratings shown here. Been there twice. First time they did a totally crappy job of painting the front fender of my Lexus. If you ran your hand over the paint you could actually feel the grit that had settled in the paint. I brought it back and they wet-sanded it, but it was still a "C" in my estimation. The second time they acted like they had better things to do than talk to me. I asked if they would give me an estimate and they said sure, but they couldn't take the car for at least 3 weeks as they were backed up. The staff was friendly and the work was great the only real complaint I have is their inability to communicate effectively or frequently. I had my car towed to them on Monday morning. All they had to do was order and install a part that was stolen from my car. I stopped by on Monday and they said they would call me when they were ready to start repairs and there was no paperwork or anything I needed to fill out because I was going through GEICO. Later that day I got a call asking permission to work on my car. No problem, everything is good so far. By Friday, I hadn't heard anything since the call on Monday so I gave them a call. The friendly customer service person apologized and said they were waiting for approval from GEICO and gave me the number to the claim guy that works out of their office. I called him and he said he would get back to me - never did. I got an email the next Monday (car one week in shop) from GEICO, I called the person who sent the email and they needed to do a theft claim interview. I answered all their questions and was told everything was good to go. On Friday of that week, a got a call from another GEICO rep that had a few follow-up questions for me. When I called back she wasn't in the office so I had to call back on Monday (two weeks in shop). So finally on that third Monday I got a hold of the third GEICO rep I had talked to and she asked some of the same questions as the last time.Finally she said she would authorize the body shop to order the parts. I called on Wednesday to make sure Poway Valley had the authorization and the lady there said she did and that the part would be there that next Monday (three weeks in shop) I called on the following Wednesday when I hadn't heard from them again and she said they got the wrong part on Monday and had to reorder which the correct part should be there that day and it would be ready on Friday. So finally Friday came and I hadn't heard anything so I called around noon and they said they did get the part installed and they were going to wash the car and it would be ready for pick-up that afternoon. So, after almost 4 whole weeks in the shop my car was ready when all they had to do was install a new part, no body work, no painting, or anything like that. I understand that part of this issue is GEICOs fault, but honestly they should have been more on top of communicating with me almost every conversation with them was initiated by me. I will not use them again, I would rather go to a different body shop that will actually keep you up to date on the status of your repair. read more

I'm giving this 2 stars instead of 1, since the folks there seemed to be decent people and I wasn't there to verify, but... The wife's car was in a collision that had not yet been verified as the other party accepting fault. So we were initially getting estimates to work through that parties insurance to get work started sooner, and avoid having our deductible at risk (and the hassle) of our own ins co. Call that the fault of our insurance co. or us wanting to avoid hassles, but that was our prerogative. Instead of giving the "free" estimate that I believe their website said they would do, they immediately redirected her to go back to her own insurance to be able to begin work. If I remember correctly BOTH insurance cos. included PVC as an approved facility. But for sure, ours did which is why we went to begin with. So bottom line is, I was annoyed by not getting what was asked. And some days later, the fault acceptance came. The result? By not getting our free estimate, we decided to take our initial $4500 some odd dollar estimate to another facility. The total was adjusted to over $5200. I'm sure that repair shop is very pleased. read more

I'm rating on customer service, specifically on getting an estimate. Although the front receptionist was ok, the gentleman giving the estimate could have been friendlier. I was ok with the estimate he gave, but he must have glanced at my phone as I browsed other repair shops for a 2nd estimate. I should have not done that in the first place and I thought I was discreet enough when he walked away to get the printout. When he came back, he said, "If you go to the dealership, it'll cost at least double...." In my opinion, he could have stated differently like, "Just in case you may want to get a 2nd estimate, I can assure that our service is......." But, I left Poway Collision thinking that they just want the money. Work on customer service please! read more

Not much for writing reviews, but I felt like I had to say this....had our vehicle in there for more than 6 weeks due to an accident. We failed to remove everything from the vehicle before it was brought in there, including our 5yo son's wallet. He had saved up more the $50 dollars from chores and good deeds, etc. When we got our car back, all he had left were a few $1s. Not sure how the repair went since we just got our car back, but I guess the moral of the story is to make sure you clear out your belongings before you take your car in for a service - to this place (or any other place)!!!! read more

About a month ago, a guy reversed into my driver side door and took out my side mirror too. After exchanging info and going through the typical insurance thing, I went on Yelp to do research on where I should take my car to get the damages repaired. I came across Poway Valley Collision based on positive review ratings. This place lived up to the good ratings it received. They did a very good job fixing the dents and side mirror on my driver side door. I was totally shocked and amazed by the quality work, there was not even the slightest hint of an accident on that door. The service was fast and They even waxed my car for free!! The best part of the incident ... Wawanesa paid for the repairs and the rental car! The worst part... The rental car was a gas guzzler. :( All in all, this is the place I would come back to for any collision repair. read more
