Car broke down and got it towed there since it was close by. They called me to let me know that it would be just over $1000 because they would have to take all sorts of parts out to find out what is wrong. I said not to touch it and I would call them back. About 15 minutes later, they called back to say the owner came in and had a "special tool" to get the nut off and it would save them about 2 hours worth of work so it would be a considerable amount of money off - it would be about $165 to check it. Long story short, after checking it, they said it looked like I might need a new engine (which they couldn't do) and I had to get it towed to another mechanic who fixed it - and no, I didn't need my engine replaced. read more

I went to Express paid way less for they helped me out with a coolant issue I've had for a while. They talked me through everything they were doing and the guy even bought my son a soda. I have been going to Gabi for many, many years. He is kindhearted, unfailingly honest and a doggone good mechanic. His son, Eli, is now in charge. I'm not kidding: I am so grateful I found them in the first place. Listen: they kept my 1986 Dodge running. When I inherited Mom's car, I was able to give the Dodge to a lady that needed it. Eli and his able staff have kept the "new" car (a 92 Ford Tempo) running like a top. They have never, ever taken advantage of ol' Gramma Nadya. My wife brought her father's Volvo in for various repairs and Eli has always shown very careful care and attention. Some of these problems were very difficult because they were intermittant, but he was none-the-less able to clean them up. Even though the shop has "Import" in the name, I brought in my 2003 chevy pickup truck for him to look at. I was thinking about buying a new one, but Eli was able to fix up my truck and get it running like new again. His work is consistently top notch and his prices are reasonable. My car was overheating. I researched online and this business had great reviews on Yelp and AAA so I thought I'd give them a try. I stopped by on a Mon am a few mins before they opened & was greeted by George who started checking me in right away even though I was a little early. Even though I didn't have an appt he squeezed me into their busy schedule and offered me a very reasonable diagnosis fee. He called me soon after confirming the diagnosis of a faulty thermostat and quoted me a repair fee that included a first time customer discount which was again very reasonable. I also liked that he didn"t try to upsell me on additional services just the repair I asked for. Upon arriving to pickup my car when the repair was complete I was pleasantly surprised to see that they backed my car into the parking spot making for an easy exit and they even put up my sunshade to spare my interior from the hot days sun. Came in for a simple oil change and coolant diagnostic for a persistent problem I couldn't figure out. Within an hour or so I got a call back with the problem diagnosed and a plan of action on the repair. Staff/George was extremely helpful; clear communication, great honest work. No car shop tricks being played here. My problem ended up being a cracked coolant flange in the rear or the engine block, of my 2007 Audi A4 Quattro. I was fearing this and probably could have tried to wrench on it myself but was quoted fairly and the job was done within that business day. Feel confident about the work that was done at this shop. Shop guarantees/warranties its work for 2 years if I remember correctly. My pocketbook wishes it was just an oil change and some hoses, but the peace of mind I have knowing my coolant system is tip top for these hot summers coming up. I am very specific about mechanics, and I do not trust the industry whatsoever. I have a high performance SUV that when maintained well runs like a clock, and without issues. If the maintenance is not done or haphazardly so, parts will break. I needed an immediate check on the drive shaft of my vehicle before I took it on a 2K road trip, because I had been hearing a sound often associated with that part. Eli and the team slid me in, gave me a complementary check, lubricated the drive shaft, and I was on my way. The noise completely subsided and the vehicle performed perfectly on my trip. We talked about differential work down the road, but everything was done, and no outrageous charges. I wish I found this shop earlier and my suggestion is if you have an import, USE THEM as a true and trustworthy mechanic is hard to find. read more

Eli and his staff are AWESOME. The quality of work is superb and the customer service is top notch. They go above and beyond what is expected of them and they never disappoint and over deliver every time. I brought my pathfinder in to get some work done on the brakes and they threw in free bulb replacement for one of my tail lights that was out of commission. Stop over paying at the dealership can come here. If you need a great shop to work on your car, this is it! They get your car in right away and have it diagnosed within the day. I have had my 99 4Runner and my wife's 03 Solara fixed here. They always get the cars fixed right away and the first time. I'm very busy and don't have time for my car to be down to long. I have been going to Poway Import Auto for a few years with multiple cars and love the experience . They do great work at a reasonable price; however, that isn't even the reason I love them the most. What I am most impressed with is how they treat people like family and they are honest. I normally dislike the car maintenance experience, even from the dealership as even the deanship tries to up sell services that are unneeded at a given mileage. I don't have that problem when I take my car to Poway Import Auto. If I have a very specific or odd request Eli (the owner) always meets with me personally to discuss and provides a fair assessment of the situation and reasonable price to address it. If he feels that someone else outside of his team is better suited to perform the work he will tell me so and provide me solid recommendations on where to get the work done. One time his team took on a complex custom electrical job for me. As a result a conduit filled with wires had been slightly severed; however, it did not impact the performance of the car in any way. The dealership noticed this when I had taken the car in for warranty work. I called Eli and he apologized profusely, asked me to have the dealership fix it, bring in the bill from the dealership, and he reimbursed me for the work the dealership did. It is obvious that Eli really takes pride in the work that he and his staff perform. read more

Unbelievable!!! This shop is great!! Yes I am very impressed with the great excellent customer service ELI and GEORGE gave me. I have been going to Mercedes Benz authorized dealerships for all maintenance and repair service for my then MB C280 and now my C300, 2011 year model..Service was good but getting more expensive and noticed that at times recommended service or repairs that are not really needed or necessary yet. My C300 was due for a 30K Regular service maintenance. I had estimate quotes from 2 MB dealerships . One was approximately $480.00+ and one was for $1,100 Wheeew. I asked why it was high.They quoted me based on a 4 YR old make and 40K mileage. I told them I only have 32,630 miles and don't need that service level. I cant believe they recommended unnecessary and too pre mature service. (BTW my average annual mileage is about 8K ) Fortunately, my brother highly recommended POWAY IMPORT EXPERTS for me to try based on his very good experience with his BMW repair and his friends testimonials.. At first I was completely hesitant but he assured me that this shop is really very good. Their shop is clean, organized and their equipment/machineries are compatible to I was convinced and had my car serviced yesterday 05-19-15. UNBELIEVABLE!!! THIS SHOP IS GREAT. Eli (owner) and George (manager) impressed me with the excellent customer service (No sugar coating) . All the SERVICE B requirement from the MB maintenance manual were successfully performend and printed on the receipt. My battery test result was marginal but Eli advised me it is still good for about 6 mos. What an honest advice!! But most of all I paid way Less than the lowest quote from an authorized dealer with the same service level. Eli also hooked up my new iphone 6+ and gave me courtesy drop off and pick up service. I may have not experienced the usual luxurious lounge and complimentary top of the line coffee , tea , pastries , ambiance and courtesy car BUT I GOT THE SATISFACTION and CONTENTMENT of having found a TRUSTWORHTY, RELIABLE, KNOWLEADABLE and HONEST staff. Very Expensive and a Rip Off Place The owner Elijah comes across as very nice and super friendly......but there is a reason for it. His prices are very expensive and it is better to take it to the dealer than him because at least the dealer will stand behind their work. Also he is very rude and if you don't want to get your car fixed there because of his high prices he will become nasty and argumentative. Just for information his prices are only about $100.00 or so less than the dealership which is not worth dealing with this person's attitude. read more
