Light vanilla sponge filled with a vanilla custard type filling and more on top adorned with a variety of fruit. A lovely summer treat that didn't leave us overly full or buzzy with too much sugar. The cakes come in two sizes and I purchased the smaller of the two (it was 8 inch, I think? Maybe 6) which admittedly was still pretty pricey so I'd probably only reach for a full cake for special occasions but if you're in the mood for a lil' treat while you're grocery shopping grab yourself a cupcake or cookie from the bakery section.

While I knew a little about what I wanted (buttercream and vanilla cake) they asked about layers and colors and a range of things that made the perfect cake. And they assured me it would be ready on time for pickup and it was! Know that they need at least a couple of weeks as all of their cakes are customized so don't wander in the day of your event and expect to get a cake. And what was even more special was the look on my mom's face when she saw the cake and we all gathered around her to sing, "Happy Birthday". The moment was priceless. I politely stopped him and explained that I wanted the personal-sized Berries Delight on the left. He responded by saying, "Those are called slices," in a tone that came across as rude and condescending. I then asked if I could have a fresh one from the refrigerator because the one in the display case looked like it had been sitting there for a while. He insisted the display one was fine, but I repeated that I would prefer one from the refrigerator. He reluctantly got one and handed it to me, saying, "There's your fresh Berries Delight," in a sarcastic tone. I visit Sweet Dreams regularly--between this location and the previous one, I stop in about four times a month. I've always enjoyed your desserts, which is why this experience was so surprising. Due to a food allergy I didn't want to style the tart myself. I contacted a number of local bakeries as well as Plum Market, Whole Foods, Zingermans and more. None could accommodate my specific request. Finally, I came across sweet dreams and they were able to make me a beautiful raspberry tart to use for my images, based on the appearance, I wanted and in a timely manner. Let me explain what I received. You hear garlic bun and think savory...nope. I was a delightful bread bun (about the size of a bao bun) stuffed with a sweet cream cheese and sprinkled with cooked garlic. Now I know you're thinking, garlic? Yes garlic, but it was sweet and tender and not at all like garlic. The Hodduck croffle was a croissant stuffed with cinnamon sugar and nuts and then crisped up in a waffle iron. It was amazing. Now the surprise add on item, what I lovingly call the "bag of bits", was I'm guessing pieces of the croffle that were trimmed off or didn't fit fully or just cut up croffle and put into a bag. These were fantastic little bite sized bits that are totally addicting and if not already, should definitely be on the menu. My suggestion, RUN, don't walk, to try this delicious place!
