Rhiley and Jovan were so helpful and nice! We had such an enjoyable time getting to make pottery here. Would definitely come again!

My friend Te-see and I were looking for an adventure. We decided to "throw some clay" as she said, and found Pottery Studio 1. It was easy to make a reservation and pay online. I ended up parking in the lot behind the building which was $10. When the time came for our session, we had a bit of trouble locating the studio. It was a Sunday afternoon, and I think some of the building entrances are locked. We ended up walking around to the back and the security guard gave us directions on where to go. We were greeted promptly and checked in. First, we were given a chance to view some of the other creations there to help us decide what to make. Princess and Rhiley were great--very helpful and patient with all of us. When the time came to get messy, Princess guided us along the way. It was a bit scary, but she calmed our nerves. This was a great way for me to get some good use out of my Meta Glasses. I was able to take photos and videos even while my hands were covered in clay! Then we were given an opportunity to design the pieces. It takes about 6 weeks for the pieces to be available for pickup and you have a month after it's ready to pick it up. Follow their website and their IG account for updates on when pieces are available. We would both definitely come back here to experience this again!

The prepped wheel with clay waiting for us to create something fab

Who wants to throw some clay?! I do, I do!!!! And this is just the place to do that! My friend Danielle and I wanted to do something out of our usual comfort zone and she suggested a pottery class...We signed up for a 2 hour session on a Sunday afternoon which was perfect! Less DTLA traffic and free street parking if you can find a spot! Princess & Rhiley greeted us when we entered then walked us through the steps for our session. The 2 of us and a young couple had Princess as our guide and she was AMAZING!!!! I loved how she helped us and encouraged us throughout our entire session. Both her and Rhiley were fantastic! We started at the wheel then moved over to the table to finish our projects. I made a bowl with another small bowl attached to the side. Danielle made a bowl. It was so much fun! *The cost: $90 for 2 hours/1glazing process or $130 for 2 hours/paint & glaze 2 times for dishwasher & food safe *you can pick up your pottery 3 weeks after your class if you don't paint it here *4 weeks if you paint it *On Sunday you may have to enter from the lobby on Broadway then take the elevator all the way in the back to the Lobby on 2nd Street *Parking in the lot behind the building $10 or meter parking if you can find it *Great for birthday's, large groups, and classes available. ~ and that's all I have to say about that ~

This was such a fun experience! Ava was really patient when we asked lots of questions while creating our mugs. Ava helped us create the cutest little mugs and hyped us up when we'd do well. Rhiley descriptively supported us as we painted and gave us tricks and tips for when we'd need. I had sooo much fun and would recommend and definitely would come back!!!!

Our pottery instructor, Rhiley Jans was so friendly, and very welcoming. They made this class fun and enjoyable. I had an awesome experience with pottery class with my partner and will definitely come back for more pottery. I was impressed that they took time to learned some basic ASL and even fingerspelled their name. I really appreciated their effort to create inclusive environment in the class. The class felt intimate, comfortable, fun and easy to follow through. Looking forward to our result pottery to pick up! Thank you!

We booked a couples pottery class for our anniversary. We had Princess as our instructor and she was super fun and helpful! We appreciated all of her tips and insight, as this was our first time doing any type of pottery. This was such a fun date experience!

I stumbled upon the cutest little spot today And there I met the sweetest soul Riley Jane, truly a breath of fresh air. Riley showed me some beautiful pottery pieces and walked me through how everything is made... such a special experience. I already can't wait to come back, book a session, and create something cute of my own And to top it off, Riley gifted me the cutest little pin that I'm so excited to show off

What a wonderful experience. Clay Cafe is absolutely mom-and-daughter approved!…read more I originally came across the idea of painting pottery while visiting Vista, California. I wanted to do something different and special with my mom, who is almost 80, incredibly active, full of spirit, and has worked hard her entire life. She had never really been in a setting where she could simply sit down, paint, and explore her creative side, so I wanted to surprise her with something new. While we were still in Vista, we briefly parked and I started looking up pottery-painting places closer to the LA County area. That is when I came across Clay Cafe. We were already beginning our drive back toward home, so I decided to take a chance on it even though it was still about 30 minutes from us. I'm so glad I did. This is a family-owned business run by a mother-and-daughters team who are artists themselves, and you can really feel the care they've put into the space. They were welcoming, helpful, patient, and genuinely kind from the moment we walked in. We picked out our pottery and ended up spending almost THREE HOURS painting! The time flew by because we were having such a great time together. There are plenty of paints, tools, and creative options, and the guidance they provide is wonderful without making you feel rushed. They also have a cafe next door with coffee, cookies, and other goodies. If you have a sweet tooth, definitely try the cookies--they are huge! We enjoyed iced coffee and a cappuccino while we were there. I will say that this isn't the cheapest pottery-painting experience, but I felt the quality, materials, tools, atmosphere, and assistance made it worth it. My shark piggy bank was around $60 and my mom chose a vase around $50, so with everything we spent roughly $130-$140 for the two of us, depending of course on what pottery you choose. After you finish painting, they glaze and fire your pieces. They took our contact information, and about two weeks later we received a text letting us know everything was ready. We picked up our finished pottery today and were SO happy with how it turned out. They welcome walk-ins, although I would recommend making a reservation, especially if you want to settle in and really enjoy the experience. Parking was also easy since they are in a small plaza shared with 7-Eleven. They also host fun events, including a plant bingo where you can apparently win plants, so definitely check their current schedule. For me, though, the best part was simply getting to sit across from my mom, paint together, laugh, talk, and watch her creative side come out. That memory alone was worth every penny. Wonderful family-owned business, wonderful people, and such a fun experience. We will absolutely be back. UPDATE: Thank you for your sweet message ! It was a beautiful memory and one I'll cherish! The vase made it across the continent to Ecuador ! Looking forward to bringing her back here again and also sharing this with the family ! See you ladies soon

Hello Pottery - Birthday celebration

Hello Pottery

I've visited this business twice and initially enjoyed it as a fun place to do a special project…read more Unfortunately, my experiences with the customer service have been disappointing enough that I will not be returning. I purchased two gift cards as birthday gifts for friends. At the time of purchase, the employee mentioned that they were using a new system, so I was understanding when the process seemed a little difficult. However, I only received one of the two gift cards by email. I contacted the business separately to request the missing gift card. Rather than simply re-sending it, I was repeatedly asked to check my junk/spam folder. While I understand that emails can occasionally be filtered, this became frustrating when the gift card still wasn't received. The owner eventually located the missing gift card several days later, but by then my friend's birthday had already passed. What should have been a simple gift purchase turned into a frustrating experience and ultimately ruined the timing of the gift. Unfortunately, the problems continued when I tried to redeem the gift card. There was another significant delay and difficulty getting it processed, and I ultimately had to contact the manager myself to get the issue resolved. What was most disappointing was not simply that mistakes happened, but how the situation was handled. I would have been much more understanding if there had been a simple apology and an effort to make the situation right. Instead, I felt like I was being given a hard time for an issue that was not caused by me. Businesses can have new systems and occasional mistakes--that's understandable. What matters is how those mistakes are handled with customers and lack of training with their employees. In this case, I felt the communication, follow-through, and customer service were lacking. I was a returning customer and would have continued supporting this business, but after these experiences, I unfortunately will not be returning or purchasing gift cards from here again.

They have a variety of objects to choose from, and we signed up for the ramen bowl class. The facility is large and beautifully appointed with several spaces to create pottery. My wife and I were completely new to pottery, so it was a bit intimidating when the class began. The instructor goes through the whole process in the beginning, but we couldn't hear much because of another group that was in another section. The acoustics of the place does not play well with multiple parties having conversations. However, the instructor was kind enough to answer our questions and assist with our mistakes. ARTime BARRO is part pottery studio, part community space, and is a relaxing, chill place where you can unleash the creativity you thought was dead, where your artistic spirit gets to come out to play, if only for just a little bit of time in this crazy world. On a recent weekend, I had the opportunity to take the One-Time Class, which is a one-hour course designed for complete beginners. You get to make two pieces, one by hand at the table and one on the pottery wheel. The class size was small (just 5 people) and we got great 1:1 instruction and guidance from our knowledgeable instructor Max. I've always wanted to try the wheel and was surprised how hard it was to use it but it was such a great experience that I think everyone should try at least once. After you sculpt your pieces, you are invited to come back to hand paint (glaze) your work at no additional cost. You can also have them do a one-color glaze for you, but after I saw all the multi-colored pieces of other folks previous to me, it was no contest to decide that I wanted to color my pieces myself. You have up to 3 months to come back to glaze so it's very doable in anyone's busy LA (corporate) lifestyle. Pricing was very reasonable for such a cool bespoke experience. There are a lot of pottery painting studios (e.g. Color Me Mine) but this is awesome bc you get to make the pottery AND color it later! I've already recommended this place to countless people!
