I've been to Potbelly's in New York, Illinois, Virginia and now I can add Kentucky to the list! This location matches up with the standards I've seen in other locations. Good quality sandwiches with a flare, served quickly in a nice clean environment. These are simple, inexpensive sub sandwiches that can be paired with a salad or soup, but they are some of the best you'll find in this price range. There are plenty of good choices when you come to eat here, my strongest recommendation is to be sure you get the pepper mix on just about anything you order. Very impressed with Pot Belly. I was initially disinterested in Pot Belly because it seemed like a fast food restaurant, but I was pleasantly surprised when my parents took me here for lunch. The first thing I liked about Pot Belly was the atmosphere. The colors were vibrant and exciting, and the tables had a pretty marble pattern. The menu was also posted around the restaurant so it was easy to read. We ordered the half and half options (half sandwich, half salad) and it was pretty good. I ordered a half buttermilk cobb salad and it was excellent- hearty, fresh, and very flavorful. The pizza sandwich was decent, but definitely not something I'd make a special trip for. The other sandwiches looked pretty good too. Service was also excellent, and they were quick and correct in making our sandwiches. Overall, I'd recommend Pot Belly for a quick, filling lunch. We were looking for an affordable place to eat before a Reds game. Our hotel was directly across from Fountain Square, so we chose to eat at Pot Belly's. I had a BLTA sandwich, which is a BLT plus avocado. It hit the spot for me. I liked the addition of avocado. The bacon seemed to be a peppered bacon, which I like. The staff were professional and pleasant. I noticed that they were cleaning when they didn't have any orders. For the most part, I don't like reviewing the big chains, because we hear about and see them more than enough in this country. And because most of them, of course, are really boring and serve mediocre, over-processed food. But since Potbelly seems to stay a cut above most of the corporate sandwich fare, they deserve a plug. Potbelly is King of the Conveyor-Belt-Assembly-Line Sandwich. Of all the "oven toasted" sandwich chains, including Quizno's, Potbelly churns them out the fastest and the tastiest and the cheapest. This is an impressive trifecta. The Extra Special Not-So-Secret Ingredient is Potbelly's hot pepper mix, which elevates Potbelly's industry-average cold cuts and meats and condiments into something somewhat special: Bland fast-food turkey-and-swiss is mutated into a pretty zesty little culinary item. Even after dozens of lunchtime visits over the last few years, I'm still occasionally amazed at the speed of the line at Potbelly. Every now and then, the workers get tripped up and lose your order, or mistakenly give your sandwich to somebody else. (When this happens, you get sent to stand forlornly by the cash registers, while they reconstitute your order.) But the batting average stays pretty high. For some reason, the workers at this location (and a couple of other local Potbelly locations I've been to) are far more enthusiastic and friendly than the average fast-food staff. Hat-tip to these kids, some of whom have been at this location for quite awhile. I've got to dock Potbelly a star for the recent corporate decision to alter the salad menu for the worse. Potbelly used to have just about the best fast-food veggie salad in the business--the one with chickpeas, artichoke hearts, marinated red peppers, etc.--and at barely five bucks. For some reason, they scrapped it and went with a couple of inferior salads that come with meat on them and are more expensive. read more

The prices here are better than most other sandwich shops, and unlike the big chain sub place, the small size is actually enough for a meal. I'm confused by how many of the reviews on this place sing its praises, yet are simply average 3 star ratings. You don't go to a sandwich shop expecting a filet mignon, you expect a sandwich, and you get exactly that, delivered fast, with quality ingredients, a wide variety of choices, and a great value. Not a lot of menu variety but the food tastes fresh, the sandwiches are warm and there are three sizes to choose from in case you want larger or smaller portions. I had a soup and sandwich combo for around $6.50, which gives a smaller sandwich and small bowl of soup. Just right for those of us who aren't hungry heifers. The line was long at lunchtime but the person with a handheld computer sped things up a lot. You tell her what you want and once you get to the front they customize it with extras so it's all fresh. Today, I ordered my food on-line. Very clear in what I ordered -- just chili and salad. When I went to pick it up, I didn't check the bag (which I should have). I went back to the office and they had the wrong dressing (which is no big deal) and no cheese or onions on the side which I had requested. The ticket was very clear. Since this has happened before, I decided to go back and ask him politely to exchange the dressing and that I needed onions and cheese. Not a big deal. The gentleman filling the bags was very rude. He said "from now on, I needed to state that on the order." I told him I did. I asked a young lady working with him if I did anything wrong. She looked at the ticket and said that I was correct. Went to Potbelly for lunch today, my first time in any Potbelly, and I'll say this: they moved a LOT of people in a really short amount of time. So for Service: 4-5 stars (especially for a place I'm standing in line and not seated, with people doing my bidding). They had someone taking our order WHILE WE WERE IN LINE, and it was kind of magical how it worked once we got to the front of the line. I had the turkey sandwich, which was on multigrain bread. The bread was great, the sandwich wasn't anything to write home about but it was definitely edible. I also had the loaded baked potato soup which rocked. So, I guess I wouldn't make a trip down there but if I'm standing at Fountain Square and wanting a sandwich, this would be a good option. First time coming to Potbelly- I had heard good things but we don't have one in Lexington. I got the Cuban sandwich and it was so good! The bread is great- holds up to the fillings but is soft. The pork and ham were really tasty and I loved the mustard and pickle with it. Also they have the biggest variety of Zapps chips I've seen. My sister and I arrived in Cincinnati at 11:00am the Friday before Flying Pig. Since we were running the race, we opted for a hotel downtown and didn't rent a car. This was convenient for our wallets, but not so much for our appetites. We quickly discovered our lunch options in downtown Cincy were very limited and consisted mainly of chains. We spent 30 minutes trying to find some place original, before settling on Potbelly Sandwich for lunch our first day. At close to noon on a Friday, the location had a line out of the door of folks in business attire, trying to grab a quick bite during their lunch hour. Luckily, this location was used to this and worked quickly to get everyone their food quickly - the line moved fast. I ordered the chicken and cheddar with all the fixins' and was happy to discover how much of a kick the peppers gave the sandwich. They had a nice spice that really kicked it up a notch. I will say that when it comes to either Quizno's, Subway (other walkable options in the area), or Potbelly , that Potbelly is really the way to go. A place to relax, listen to live music and enjoy a hot all-natural sandwich without worrying about icky ingredients. The menu has all of the basics plus a few specialties and the sandwiches are always toasted (unless you don't want that). They have skinny sandwiches and flats for those watching the scale and kid's sandwiches for kids and people who wish they were kids. They also make fabulous milkshakes, cookies, and soups. You may notice that the employees are exceptionally friendly and courteous, but there is no tip jar - it's a policy! There is nothing I enjoy more than a good sandwich for lunch. Typically I pack my own but there are days where I just have to get out before I go insane. Out of the national sandwich chains located downtown, Potbelly is my favorite. I typically go with the wreck, which is turkey, ham, roast beef, salami, cheese and your choice of toppings. The sandwiches are toasted which adds to the flavor. I also usually get a bag of their house brand kettle chips. Another thing about the Potbelly menu I enjoy is their desert options. You can get milk shakes, smoothies, brownies and fresh baked cookies which I like a lot better than Subways. I also enjoy the atmosphere at Potbelly better than the others. It has a more homey decor, isn't bland and sometimes a musician will perform. Also you can't beat the Fountain Square location. While there isn't anything spectacular about Potbelly, if you're looking for a solid sandwich that isn't Subway, I recommend Potbelly. read more

I had long been hooked on Potbelly's oatmeal chocolate chip cookies before I tried their sandwiches. I finally went for lunch and was thrilled with the offering! They have soups, salads, and many sandwiches, including 'skinny' versions served on thin-sliced bread with fewer calories. I had a skinny turkey & Swiss sandwich - served warm. It was very good. I'm now a true fan and will definitely return for both a sandwich and a sinfully delicious cookie! The only downside is the lunch time crowd requires time to wait in line. read more

After I wrote this review yesterday, someone in Potbelly's PR team got in touch with me to (in so many words though not directly) give them another chance, and hopefully write a better review. They told me that the workers have every right to comply with the two-small arrangement I suggested in my first review. Clearly not. When two employees verify that their general manager has told them they aren't allowed to do something as simple as making a sandwich, there's something fundamentally wrong with the company. My review? Don't give your money to a company who treats its employees like this. Their PR team offered me free sandwich tickets. That's not what I want. They told me that the sandwich makers are there to make me "happy." Clearly not. If they were there to make me happy I would ask for a happy meal. I just wanted a sandwich. Potbelly's managers prevented them from doing their jobs. If there's one thing I find more infuriating than poor customer service, it's being pandered to. But if that's something you like, hey, go to Potbelly. They'll pander to anybody who writes a poor review of their stores. read more

I went to Potbelly's this morning for a breakfast sandwich and I loved my sandwich. I ordered an egg and cheddar cheese on wheat bread with peppers, mayo and tomato for 2.99. I loved how toasted my bread was because it reminded me of how I make my sandwich at home when I actually have time to do so. The breakfast sandwiches are 2.99 except certain ingredients like mushrooms are .50 cent extra. I loved how Potbelly's Fountain Square location makes it easier for commuters to get their breakfast on the go. The staff are welcoming and if you come in often enough, when you're half-asleep in the morning, they remember your usual order for you. The breakfast sandwiches are made to order, and come in 2 different sizes. I recommend the ham, egg, swiss and mushroom sandwich. Never too early to get a veggie in there!
