Walking past Potbelly at PDX was a total blast from the past. This Chicago sandwich chain used to be my regular lunch spot when I lived in Washington, DC. I was a loyal customer at the location on the corner of L St. & 17th St., and I honestly haven't had Potbelly since I left DC back in 2017. Imagine how excited I was to find one inside Portland International Airport. The best part? I still remembered my order without even looking at the menu. A Big Wreck on multigrain with everything on it and extra hot peppers. One bite and it brought back so many memories. The bread still has that nice chewy texture, the meats are warm and satisfying, and the extra hot peppers with the pickled carrots add that crunchy, tangy kick that I always loved. It's messy in the best way and every bite has a little bit of everything. Airport food is usually something you settle for, but this was the meal I was actually hoping to find. My PDX Terminal C Lunch was at Potbelly and consisted of an Avo Turkey sandwich (served warm), a bag of Zapp's Salt and Vinegar Chips, and an Orange Mango Nantucket Nectar. PDX advertises street pricing, but even then, the tab of $20 was the economic reality. Service was prompt and my sandwich combo (consumed at a common table outside Potbelly) was tasty, and if only I could have enjoyed a beer with all this. I flew back from Vegas and had a shortly layover in Portland and we very hungry and also needed to buy a bottle of water you my pup Mav. The line was pretty long however the staff was fast and efficient and was getting through the line fast. While waiting I was looking at the menu, and decided I would order a Broccoli cheddar soup since it was a cold rainy day and, I also ordered a Avo Turkey sandwich and added bacon to set my sandwich off. They make you sandwich on one area of the counter and you go to the end of the counter where they will confirm the sandwich you had made and they another person will add you toppings. You then go to the register to pay and since I ordered soup I picked up my soup and water at the register. There is no seating to dine in and it is strictly take out only. It's packed with turkey breast, hickory smoked ham, Angus roast beef, salami, and Swiss cheese. I like getting it stuffed with so many veggies that the sandwich bursts at the seams. I can't tell you why I like this sandwich so much - there's no special bread or secret sauce holing it together. It's just a giant hearty sandwich that pairs well with some kettle chips and a nice crisp Coke before I board the plane. It's the perfect snack or in between meal. A solid option for a quick bite in PDX. Something I learned about Portland is the airport eateries can't inflate their prices (like how airports do notoriously). I was glad to see their sandwich prices are very reasonable! They have a ton of options, I chose the Avo Turkey (turkey breast, swiss, avocado, cucumber) - $10.99 for the original size. I do like how they toast every sandwich! And my favorite topping they have is the hot peppers -- it gives the sandwich a nice briney bite, and the acidic pickled veggies are not spicy at all. So it was my first time trying potbelly. I was flying at PDX and it seemed like the best breakfast option. I got the sausage egg and cheddar and added mushrooms. I opted to get it on flatbread. I also couldn't decide if it was less carbs on the flat bread or "thin" bread where they take out some of the bread insides. I didn't really know what to expect but it's kind of like Quiznos or subway where your sammich is on a toasted rack and then you opt for what ever toppings you want. I wish I had gotten a lunch sammich or chose bacon instead. Bacon looked legit! The sausage was meh in flavor and I kept burping it up hours later. I liked that you can customize your sammich and saw after the fact that they have whole avocados. I hate weird avocado spread so it makes me wanna get something with avocado in future as well. I look forward to flying out in this concourse again so I can try better sammich combos. Solid 3 stars for now. I expect it to improve next couple tries. read more

This is a review of the PDX airport location. We had the cubano and turkey avo 8 inch. Both were as good as anything you would get at a subway or the like but as they were super busy everything was luke warm (which is ok for a sandwich) and the place was a mess. Service was pleasant and quick enough and as it was in the airport the prices were high. read more

so i don't usually leave reviews but i felt that it was important that i share my recent experience, after eating here i became extremely ill and ultimately had to go to the ER due to severe food poisoning symptoms. But it is processed lunchmeat with the typical add-ons. Fast food in an Oregon airport. The lettuce was wilted in the chicken salad salad. Food grade: D We thought we got out the door with a great deal: Turkey Sandwich, Chicken salad salad, cup of chili = 22.17. Turns out the heavy accent little woman didn't ring up the chili and it's another $4.79. No worries. Price grade: B All is good until this little woman snaps at us about how it was our fault we never told her we wanted chili. One of my biggest pet peeves in this world is folks that are never accountable for their mistakes, then blame the customer to save face. When we originally gave our order, a young red-blonde haired woman (her co-workers say is Destiny) yelled it all back to the other workers. I guess it doesn't matter that they were chit-chatting so loudly, they couldn't hear. The woman even repeated it. Then she ends up the one that prepared the chili and delivered to the cashier/soup lady. Staff grade A+ for one; E for the other two. Early 7AM Vegas flight. Breakfast subs are excellent, just $9.19 for a Multigrain Footlong esp given bird flu egg prices! Generous portions of thin sliced Ham mushroom swiss eggs same price as bacon egg or ham sausage. Saw even the regular 6" had 2 sausage patties ;) Thanks PDX travel friendly local ordinance that does not allow higher pricing than the store regularly charge on the street for make-sense airport food pricing + no Sales Tax Oregon :) After grilling, like a Subway (lite), you can add in salad veggies at no additional cost except for sliced Avos. The hot peppers (red and mostly green pickled jalapenos) gave a terrific flavor punch to the brekkie roll. Added mayo, tomatoes and onions, for a sub-jam; delish! Hubby and I split the Footlong on the plane, very satisfying, amazing value esp compared to $7.50 for shelf stable chips cheese spread snack boxes inflight. I ordered the pork adobo, I have had adobo many times, I've cooked my own many times, this was the worst I've ever had. It looked unappetizing to begin with, I tried it anyways. There was so much fat, it was literally 75 percent day. I told the lady I wasn't enjoying it, and there was too much fat, she said yes it's made from pork belly, look at the picture she kept telling me. But they totally made my day and provided me good suggestion on what to eat and was the best thing that had happened to me on such a horrible day. Top notch customer service, and a key thing was how to feel the energy off a customer and apply their customer service skills. I went with Turkey and Avocado on Wheat as that seems to be a winning combination or protein, fat, and carbs to hopefully not have me raiding the galley on the plane again. It was also something that I could get in the early morning without eggs and sausage and that stuff which is good, but not good before a flight.
