First time-recommended by a friend as her go to place if you are hungry for a salad or a sandwich. I would recommend looking at the menu before you arrive because the board is a little overwhelming and a little hard to read. Thankfully my friend and I were here at 1 pm on a Wednesday afternoon and there wasn't a line. The place did fill up while we were there though. My friend ordered the Chef Salad and a sweet tea. I had the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich with onions and added peppers. They do have a daily breakfast and lunch special posted. Nothing fancy about the restaurant. Local memorabilia decorated the walls so that gave it a sense of "community." Our food was good. Parking was limited. The staff was friendly. I would definitely come again-although I would again choose an "off" time because I imagine this place is quite busy during peak meal times. read more

Similar to a couple of the other reviewers who posted here, I've also experienced negative attitudes from the staff. The workers were not friendly and I derived the feeling that at about an hour before closing, the workers found that serving anyone else was more of an inconvenient annoyance than welcome business. The items I've tried there are tasty and good, but not good enough to overcome the negative attitudes and unwelcome vibe. The food was quick & delicious. However, the store wasn't suppose to close until 3pm. At 2:40pm the doors were locked & I was unable to go inside to use the restroom or get a to go box. It was very inconvenient. There was also no signs to let us know they were closing early. read more

Possibly the worst sandwich I've eaten there. Ordered the Cape Codder (turkey, cranberry salad and dressing) thinking this would taste like a day after Thanksgiving sandwich. The bread was stale, cranberry sauce literally a slice of the canned gel, and a dab of boxed stove top stuffing. And to add insult to injury- we paid nearly $60 for 3 sandwiches, drinks and chips for the awful food. Ever since they opened in this new location the food quality has suffered tremendously. Sorry. Worst restaurant of all time? Ive been pondering on that a lot recently and i think the Pot Belly Deli certainly takes the cake. I mean seriously. Waited what seemed like 45 minutes for a 13$ microwaved burrito. It was an absolute pile of cold crap and each half was no bigger than my fist. What a cool little spot! It definitely is popular and has a great college atmosphere. You wait In line and order first w the ladies over the deli counter. Then you continue to wait in line and pay at the front register. You go find a seat and they call your name and you raise your hand- so pay attention lol. Booth seating was cozy. The guys ordered a Philly cheese steak -- they added jalapeños to it and split it. It was a good size (not huge but filling w all the meat). I ordered the tuna melt but doctored it up. I asked for it on Rye bread, subbed pepper Jack cheese, added tomato and lettuce (it already had onion). So so good!! One of the best tuna melts I've had! So flavorful. My son got the kids meal Turkey cheese- subbed cheddar cheese instead of American, and got it on a croissant. I forgot to ask for it toasted, so it was just okay. Cold croissant w cold meat and cheese isn't the best but was edible. We took the other half home and toasted it- yum! Kids meal came w chips and a fountain drink. We also got some Voodoo chips, bbq chips, and the guys got cans of crème soda and black cherry cola. All came to just over $40. Not bad. They were efficient and pretty quick, even when very busy on a Saturday at lunch time. We surprisingly found parking in front in their small lot. They also have an outdoor front patio w some seating. Fun place inside. Lots of collage kids and a mix of families. The place is decorated w lots funny random stuff and with many old records, and had really good music playing too- eclectic mix. There's nothing like a classic deli! Would be perfect to take sandwiches to the lake or a picnic. We'll be back! read more

Food is pretty good. But charging 11.25 for a sandwich and an extra $5 for chips and a drink and still asking for a tip is a little much. Service was not good at all. There's not enough parking, so usually the street is packed with cars and a lot of people end up getting towed. We waited forever in line, waited 45 minutes for our order to come out, and then the order was wrong (we had taken it to-go as well so there was nothing we could do about it). After waiting for awhile, we asked about our order and there still was not a lot of urgency in getting it out to us. The only consolation was the food tasted pretty good. Food is good, but they really need to move the drink dispenser and re organize the way they do the line during lunch. It goes out the door sometimes. Parking for lunch is another issue. There isn't enough. Probably anytime of day other than 11:45am -1pm is good. Honestly, route 123 is dangerous during lunch , so I would avoid that whole area in Clemson. PBD is a Clemson staple! I always order a bagel sandwich and a muffin. I have yet to be displeased with the food. If they ask you if you want your muffin toasted, the answer is yes. It's so good! The service isn't always great - sometimes workers are friendly and sometimes not. Service is quick if it isn't busy, but be prepared to wait if it is busy. The parking lot is small, so you often have to park nearby and walk, which isn't too inconvenient. PBD is definitely worth a visit if you've never been! read more

They normally KILL it- I've gotten several things on the menu. Soups, Salads and Sandwiches are all really good. I took a star off because sometimes they arent consistent. We got an italian stallion for ny husband ( and yeah I could make SEVERAL jokes about that as hs IS italian) But the first time- he LOVED it...like 6 star loved it. The next time they put too much oiland vinegar on it and it was all soggy when he unwrapped it. For me- I love the BLT and most of the time it;s chock full of the BACON! But a couple of times the bacon wasn't drained properly and it was just a big greasy mess. YUCK! And others they have skimped on the amount of bacon. But usually it's all that! Potato salad, chicken salad and the desserts are usually home made level yummy. Great place for lunch! They are not open at dinner so go before 3pm. read more

What a great local place! Very good for lunch and breakfast. We were able to go when there was minimal wait, but I hear during the school year it will always have a long line out the door. Order at the counter and they bring or call out your food order. I ordered the St. Stephen, which has turkey, bacon, tomato, lettuce and a honey mustard spread on a croissant. Very good! I also suggest trying out the voodoo chips or then spicy Cajun crawfish chips. They can be addicting and I plan on buying extra bangs next time I come by. My friend got the breakfast sandwich, either the Gambino or Hambino, and this looked amazing. Also they slice their muffins and toast them, heavenly! If you don't have the staff to man the phones your message on Saturday morning should not say "we are closed Monday and reopen Tuesday." I really wanted to like this place as the vibe is great. However, the service stunk- it wasn't busy and I had to wait 20 minutes for two sandwiches. And they were prepared poorly. A Reuben and a Cherrise should be grilled, not heated in a microwave so the bread is all soggy and the meat falls out of the sandwich. Plus there wasn't a whole lot of meat in either one. Very tasty, but pretty expensive for how simple the order was IMO. I think a cheaper price tag or more toppings would help justify coming back.
