Something very urgent came up this week requiring me to have a current passport. Unfortunately, mine was no longer current and I needed to get a passport renewal immediately which meant new passport photos. After looking on Yelp for places where I could get the photos done quickly, reasonably priced, and proper quality. I chose the Sunnyvale Postnet location. When I went in the place was very orderly and the employees were super friendly. They were very professional and respectful when taking the photos. It was quick and easy and the price was more than reasonable. I could not have asked for better service. Unfortunately, when I went to file for the passport the lady saw the photo and said that I should get the photo's redone because of the position of my hair in the photo. This was NOT the fault of Postnet though. It was a matter of MAYBE the passport would be approved with that photo but MAYBE NOT and since I needed this urgently we decided to err on the side of caution. So we went back to postnet to get the photos redone. They were very professional and courteous about it and did not have a problem with re-doing the photos. I was expecting to pay for the re-do but they did not charge for it at all and that was a real plus for me because these past few days have been very stressful, crazy, and over-the-top expensive for our family so every little bit we can save the better! The guy who did the photo re-take was kind enough to properly staple the photo onto the application for as well. We would definitely come here again for passport photos or any of the many other services they offer. The prices are reasonable and the service is very professional with very courteous employees. I hadn't been planning to rate them at all on Yelp but the service was outstanding enough to deserve a five star rating. read more

Prior to visiting PostNet this morning, I didn't think "amazing" was an attribute I would use to describe passport photos. I mean, they are passport photos...standardized stuff right? These guys do amazing passport photos. I've had umpteen passport photos taken over the years at CVS, Walgreens, etc, but never have I had photos as clear as this - the PostNet guys simply put some TLC into it. High quality camera, clear instructions to make sure your ears show etc, and they ask you to hold a white piece of styrofoam under you for proper lighting reflection. Simple, and the results were so good that I actually ordered another set just to have on hand (though they keep them on file for 6 mos in case you need more - how thoughtful!). When I got home, I compared them with 2 other passport photos I have hd taken at drugstores and now I understand why those could possibly get rejected at an embassy/Passport center but not the PostNet ones! read more

I needed scans of my 12x18" drawings, which were too big for their scanner, so they took photos of them instead. The photos were really high quality, and Ed color matched them, so they were true to their actual colors. Since the black lines on my original drawings were slightly brownish, he edited my photos to make the blacks deeper on my images, upon my request. I came in Friday afternoon and the CD was ready on Saturday morning! Plus, Ed had me proof the images before putting them on the CD, to make sure they were exactly how I wanted them. This place is a bit more expensive than FedEx, but you get great service and high quality products... vs FedEx's "Errr... I think we can do that... yeah..." (I paid $5/image at PostNet, and they said they normally charge $15, but I'm not sure why I got this discount... I didn't question it ;) ) read more

DO NOT GET FILM DEVELOPED HERE. I cannot stress that enough. I've been testing out different labs in the Bay Area, and this one has been, by far, the worst. (I had wanted to try it after reading the good reviews on Yelp.) Use your local drugstore or Costco before you go here. In fact, even if you know nothing about developing film, I would buy a C41 developing kit and develop your film yourself before you ever consider going to PostNet. I used a roll of 35mm Kodak Portra 160VC as my test. I dropped it off on Thursday of last week and the man at the shop promised it would be ready the following Tuesday at noon. Not exactly the fastest turnaround time, but whatever. I really wanted to see the results, but I was very busy on Tuesday and couldn't make it over there to pick up my film. On Wednesday I made a point to go pick up the film, even though it would consume my lunchtime and take me 40 minutes of driving each way. When I got to the shop, the guy behind the counter told me that they had just started making my prints when I walked in, and it would be another 15 minutes before they would be ready. What? They were supposed to be ready a day ago. "We're busy," he said. "Well, maybe you could have emailed or called me to let me know that there was going to be a delay. What if I had come in yesterday?" "We've been very busy," he repeated. I don't understand what sort of excuse that is. These people run a business; they are supposed to be busy. What's curious, though, is how they could possibly be busy when the results they deliver are so poor. I still haven't decided what was worse: the prints or the customer service. The paper they used just feels cheap compared to something like Fujicolor Crystal Archive or any number of Ilford papers. They claimed it was matte, but it's really a pearl finish without any sort of texture whatsoever. I asked for borders on the prints, and the borders are really inconsistent in their dimensions from one print to the next. PostNET seems to lack any quality control. And the prints themselves are just sort of bad. They have a yucky digital look to them, and the color balance is grossly off in the number of the prints. I've been able to get much better results from this roll of film using my eight-year-old film scanner and a cheap Epson photo printer. Of course, the whole reason for sending the film out to a lab in the first place is because I wanted better results than what I could produce through my own digital workflow. Finally, here's the kicker: they miscut my negatives. That's right, they cut right through four frames on the roll when cutting the negatives into strips of four. That means they messed up on almost half the strips of film. (Who uses strips of four frames, anyway? How do they expect anyone to make a contact sheet with strips of four?! But that's a minor point and my fault for not asking first for strips of six.) I can accept that the prints are of poor quality, but miscutting the negatives is something that should never happen. Even when I has just started developing my own film I never made this mistake. I was disappointed that my order wasn't ready on time. As a result, I would never recommend using PostNET for any sort of critical work. I was also disappointed by the quality of the prints. Because of that, I won't be using PostNET again. And I was absolutely dumbfounded by the fact that they miscut my negatives. Consequently, I can't recommend PostNet to anyone, even if you don't care about the quality of your prints. This place is liable to ruin your film, and I don't want anyone to have the experience I had with PostNet. Like I said, I recommend going to Costco or a drugstore instead of going here for 35mm developing. However, if you're a little more discriminating, try one of the following places: Keeble and Shuchat in Palo Alto: They are a little on the expensive side for what you get. However, the results are usually consistent and they can turn your order around in a matter of hours. They have scratched a couple rolls of my film in the past, but nothing too egregious, and they've definitely never miscut negatives. PhotoWorks in San Francisco: This place offers a good balance between quality and price. I recommend them. Lightwaves in San Francisco: This place is more expensive, but they do the best job in the entire Bay Area. Richard Photo Lab in Los Angeles: You can send your film here, and get the best quality service in California, and maybe in the entire country. I would use them or Lightwaves for any critical work. Perhaps, PostNet is good for passport photos or photo jobs that require no minimum quality or expertise. However, please, do yourselves a favor and keep your film away from this place! read more

I went to PostNet earlier today for Canadian passport photos after trying the same at a FedEx ship center where the results were very poor. PostNet was great - they have professional lighting set up with a white backdrop and reflectors, and use a good digital SLR camera for the photos, and printed them on high quality paper. The PostNet employee that helped me was polite and friendly, and he was familiar with the Canadian passport rules. He told me that they have software that includes Canadian passport specifications to verify the sizing and correct framing, as well. The set of two prints cost about $17 after tax, and were very high quality, I am sure they will meet the Canadian requirements, and my family thinks it is one of the better photos of me that they've seen, so maybe I should get PostNet to print a few more (they mentioned that they have a digital copy that they keep for 6 months in case I need additional prints). I really love coming to this place! The school that I work for used to always go to Office Depot to get last minute items printed, there or Kinko's. Everyone knows that those two places hike up their prices like no other. I decided to go on a search and found PostNet!!! It was a great find thanks to YELP! :) Pier is great! I am SO happy I found this place. I am an actress and I have been printing my headshots at Walgreens for years. The place lets you edit your photo before ordering! I was able to add a boarder and my name to add that professional touch. They were printed on matte photo paper within 5 minutes which is almost unheard of! Most places this has to be ordered and shipped. I am in love and I wish I had discovered this place sooner. You can use their online service to upload your photo, edit your photo and order it. Even if you want photos for infants or toddlers they can help you. Staff is polite and get your job done quickly. I have been here twice to get photos. The first was for my US citizenship application and passport. The next was to get photos for the Indian OCI application. Friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Service is fast and inexpensive to other options locally. I was out in ~15 minutes both times, and paid ~13+ for 4 high quality photos. Why can't I give 6 stars to this place?? It totally deserves it and here's why: 1. The service is outstanding. Pier makes you feel as if your photos or whatever you want to print it's the most important thing on earth. He will take time to make sure that the files you bring are in good quality for printing. And if not, he gladly can correct the mistakes. 2. I wanted to print several photos at no standard sizes (in other places they refused to print them like that, saying that they could only print in their standard sizes) so I thought that this would be a pain in the ass and that they would tell me to pick them up like 3 days after... but to my surprise they had my pictures 4 hrs after I left them there! Amazing!! And I must say that they cut them perfectly! I came home and framed them without a problem! 3. The quality of the printed pictures is incredible. They really look super professional! I love to look at my wedding pictures all the time. =) 4. They have an enoooormous catalog of things you can print! They have everything!! From passport pictures to quilts! Balloons, dishes, mousepads, calendars, you name it they have it. So I'm pretty sure that whatever you are thinking of printing, they will surely help you and you will be very happy with the results. It reminds me of Kinko's... they take passport photos too. The problem is that PostNet purports to be a full service photo lab, and when they run around chopping negatives and doing a rather poor job with processing, then you have to wonder. Need passport photos in a pinch? Look no further! The last passport photo I took elsewhere was unflattering, at best. My skin appeared several shades darker, and I looked partially sedated. Nearly a decade later, I scoured Yelp to find a place that could give me decent passport photos. I asked after being surprised that the pictures turned out so nicely, and it happens that the young gentleman who helped me out was also a professional photographer . I just got my passport photo taken here (2 pics for $10). Using a Nikon camera setup, he took a few different shots that I could choose from and took the time to get the lighting right, which is nice because you have to live with that photo for the next 10 years! He also advised on what service to use to get my expedited passport renewal application there as soon as possible. I ended up going with USPS Express for $38, which takes 1-2 days, but it's better than driving up to the city. I had no idea I could not use Fedex, so that saved me time. So in 30 minutes, I got my photo taken and my application out the door like that. Fast and easy, great service, couldn't expect more. read more

I came here based on the good reviews on the passport photos. I didn't want to go to CVS, as I find their photos to be crap and poor customer service. I walked into PostNet and was immediately greeted by a friendly employee asking if he could help me. I told him I needed two sets of passport photos. I filled out a quick order form with my info and a minute later got my photo taken. I like that they show you the picture on the camera and ask if you like it. If you don't, you can take another one. That was cool. I waited five minutes for him to process the photo, paid $11.99 for the first set and $3 for the second set. Great deal. And they keep your photos on file for six months in case you need another set within that time frame. Great quality photos, fast and friendly service. PostNet is within the Safeway plaza. I went here to get my passport pictures taken because I read that they'll take several pictures of you and you get to choose the best photo. Originally, I was going to go to the post office to take the picture, but I thought about my driver's license photo and I didn't want another bad picture to happen again, especially for my passport (which lasts for 10 years). I came in on a Saturday afternoon and asked about the passport photos. It didn't take very long for them to grab the camera and set me up at the back of the store for the photo. I sat down and the guy took a few snaps of me. He made sure that the picture would conform to the strict requirements of a passport (i.e. showing the ears). My camera-man was also very earnest about making sure that I was happy with my photo choice. He kept on asking if I wanted to take another photo if I wasn't happy. In total, I took 5 pictures and picked out the best one. And I'm so glad that I took that many pictures because half of my pictures were mean-looking. It took about 5-10 minutes for them to print out the photos and I was done! Being stupid that I was, I ordered 2 sets of passport photos (i.e. 4 pictures because a set = 2) But I was definitely happy with my passport pictures and recommend this place over, let's say...the post office (where you take only one picture). read more

This place is fantastic for infant passport pictures. My little one looked much better when we had her picture taken here vs. the post office. And while I was there I noticed they did photo books. A month later my best friend passed away and I had to make a photo book and get some programs and bookmarks done in a day. They were great here. Very helpful and on top of it. I had Pierre and Paty? Came here for international passport photos. I was in and out in about 10 minutes. The guy was really nice, let me take about 5 different shots, and choose the best one. One set (two photos) was $12.99; an additional set (two more photos) cost $2 extra. Photos came out fine; the printing looked slightly weird, like it was photoshopped or slightly blurred. But not really a problem. They keep your photo for 6 months or something, so if you want the electronic version you could contact them for it later on. Before coming to this place, I had called 10+ different copy places around the area in order to get a quote that was within my price range. I needed to print a 40x30 poster, and every place had it for $65-70... not the type of money I would shell out for one class project. PostNet charged me $52 including tax, which was amazing compared to all the other places! On top of that, I had called in and they said the job would take half a day, but I went in and it only took 15 minutes, which was perfect since I was on a time crunch anyway. My wife needed a 36*48 poster print and before coming to this store she called 5 different places to get the quotation. She chose this place not only because of the best price but also because she felt a lot convinced after talking to one of the store guys who explained her some minute details to be taken care of while designing the poster which makes the printing easy and quick and gives the best results. No doubt, she designed it as suggested. Finally we took it to the store. The staff was very nice and patient. They proofread the poster to see if everything is in place. Finally we got the print the next day. And trust me the print quality was damn awesome. We loved it. Definitely recommended. I am going again for sure!! read more

I had a form notarized here ($10) a few days ago, and during the same visit got my passport photo's taken (also $10). The store is neat and organized, the prices reasonable, but most standout is the service. The nearest staff person there greeted me when I walked in (even while she was busy with a customer on the telephone and another in front of her), another person came free and came to help me with the notary work, and then had my passport photo's taken by a 3rd employee, everybody was very courteous and efficient. read more

I went there to get my Canadian passport picture taken. They are very knowledgeable about the Canadian passport requirements. The owner is Canadian, so that might help a bit :-) I showed up with a shirt that had writing on it, even close to the collar which is visible in the Canadian passport picture. The lady told me that my picture would be rejected by the Canadian passport office because the writing would be visible. It was a long sleeve cotton T-shirt so I just used their bathroom and turned it inside out, it showed as a black shirt that way and we cannot tell on the picture that it is inside out. It worked out! And now I have a good story behind this picture :-) The rest was quick (3-5 minutes for the picture, 5-10 to get the pictures printed and cut), I went during a time of day when there was not wait, so that helped. read more

Its a nice place and people working there are very nice. I am writing this review now but I visited this place in October for infants passport size photograph. Its relatively cheaper than other places .I got two pp photos for $25( other place 2 for $32 and 8 for $60 phew...) and additional set of two for just $3.The best thing is they keep your photo for 6 months and you can reorder them for just $ 5 for set of 2.
