I found this doctor through my insurance provider and conducted additional research on Yelp. I…read moreshould have read more reviews before booking my appointment. I initially went to visit the doctor because of a bunion on my foot. I was not certain if it was related to a prior work injury and sought to have an assessment done by a podiatrist rather than my orthopedist. I completed the paperwork and explained that I had a work related injury which was still open but wanted to know what was going on with my bunion. Dr. Fox treated me for my work related injuries, which I knew about and was documented previously but said his office did not accept workers compensation. He claimed he would treat me without knowing my work related history and that my "bunion" was the least of my worries. I wound up walking out with a brace and a stretcher for my leg and paid my co-pay and told to come in for a follow-up a month later. I returned to the office for my follow-up and upon walking in the front desk informs me that I owe $215! I received no notice in the mail from either my insurance carrier or from them that I owed additional money. It was a complete shock that I found unprofessional at the timing. I inquired what it was for and she said it was for the equipment I received. Irritated, I contacted my insurance carrier and unfortunately I was indeed on the hook for that amount as it was considered "durable medical equipment". I'm glad I only received the stretcher and the brace as Dr. Fox originally wanted to put me in a boot! I can only imagine how much more I would have had to pay for that out of my pocket! It was then I had my "ah ha" moment when I now had to pay a significant amount of money for something that my own orthopedist could treat me for without any cost as it was for my work related injury that Dr. Fox was trying to treat me for as well. I paid my balance and said I would not be treated anymore by the doctor, asked if I had to pay for the visit in spite of not being seen and was told no, then walked out. I came to this doctor for a bunion and he treated me for my work related injuries. Upon reading other Yelp reviews it appears he no longer does surgery for bunions but whether he does other treatment is unclear. He should have informed me that he does not treat bunions at this time or something to the effect and not have wasted my time and money knowing full well I did not come to him for treatment of my work related injuries. I wish I would have understood my insurance plan better before accepting the medical equipment from Dr. Fox as I would have insisted he only treat me for my bunion and not my work related injuries. Regarding the balance I owed, thankfully I could afford to pay on the spot. Not everyone can. Maybe discuss large co-pays or deductibles with a patient before issuing them equipment that their insurance may or may not pay. Hence, even though Dr. Fox was nice and personable, explaining everything in detail, I can not recommend his services as in my opinion the treatment I received bordered on unethical.

I had surgery over 2 years ago and my big toe on my right foot is stiff as a board, no range of motion at all. (Severe Stiffness in the Big Toe Joint). In my quest to get help for severe right foot pain I was having, and which I am still having, I stupidly returned to this doctor. And only because he would be familiar with my feet. Or one would think.... I was having severe pain on the ball of my right foot. He came in and asked what the problem was and proceeded to shave an area on the ball of my foot with a scalpel after one of his assistants directed me to soak my foot in a bucket. (Yes a bucket). The doctor came back in and sprayed my foot with something and left. Then an assistant can in and put a small bandage on my foot. That was it, no explanation, no diagnosis nothing. A month later I received a bill in the mail for $98. What really ticked me off was the fact that I was blatantly overcharged for services, some of which I DID NOT ASK FOR! Charges that I also reported to my insurance company. $83 for that piece of bandage they put on the bottom of my foot. $61 for debridement nails... So you just going to charge people $61 to cut a toe nail, something I don't even remember him doing. I could have gotten the DELUX Pedicure at the nail salon for that price!! The report sent to my insurance company mentioned my left foot, note HE DID ABSOLUTLY NOTHING TO MY LEFT FOOT. And $130 for unnecessary x-rays. RUN don't walk away from this place. HIS ACCOUNTING PERSON NEEDS TO LEARN HOW TO SPEAK TO PATIENTS. VERY RUDE!!

Upon arriving, I immediately informed the receptionist that I had inadvertently arrived without my MRI disc. I apologized for the oversight and respectfully asked whether I could return with the disc at a later time and still be seen by the doctor. The office manager interrupted her telephone conversation and responded in an unnecessarily rude and dismissive tone, stating, "You just have to make another appointment. He can't see you without the disc." She declined to allow me to see Dr. Cohen and further stated that I did not have the right to see the doctor without the required materials and that "he is very much aware of how this office works." ( She boasted about being the office manager for over 14 years) She then concluded the interaction by saying, "If there is nothing else, you can leave now." I understand that there may be office policies or medical requirements regarding the MRI disc. However, I believe patients should be treated with courtesy, professionalism, and respect, particularly when addressing an honest mistake. The manner in which this situation was handled was unnecessarily discourteous and left me feeling dismissed and disrespected. I am requesting that this matter be addressed with the appropriate office or company Foot and Ankle of MD leadership. While I understand and respect the need to follow medical protocols, I do not believe those policies justify speaking to a patient in a disrespectful or condescending manner. This is not an isolated situation so if you're wanting an office that is professional and courteous to you while you're going through your assessment and healing process, please choose another podiatrist.
