Dr. Levine was our go-to podiatrist for many years. Until our recent visit, he's been capable and warm--the doctor you hope you'll encounter when you have a problem. But our opinion of him has changed. Recently, we saw Dr. Levine to discuss some joint pain my wife was having. Dr. Levine said she had three options, in this order: 1) Surgery 2) An injection (I'm assuming cortisone) 3) Or wearing special shoes that would hopefully provide relief. We chose to try the shoes before surgery or a "shot." Dr. Levine told us to go to a shoe store called Shoe Fly in Frederick, MD, and buy a brand of "Hoka" walking shoes. I asked if the shoes were also sold on Amazon. Dr. Levine suddenly said, "Full disclosure: I have an ownership interest in Shoe Fly." Hmmm...wasn't that something he should have told us earlier? When I asked him that a couple of weeks later, he agreed, that was something that ethically he should have mentioned. So, a once very good doctor has apparently decided that being forthright about his "double dipping" from his patients is perfectly fine. It's not. People have a right to know that he profits from his patients' purchases made at that store. That way, they'll be more inclined to shop around for the best price. That's just common sense. Aside from this, my wife felt the overall treatment Dr. Levine provided wasn't satisfactory. She left in as much pain as she was in when she arrived, with instructions to buy expensive shoes at a store he owns to an extent (it must be a large extent, because he said his picture hangs on the wall). Our experience shows what may happen when doctors "operate" in their own little world, expecting that as doctors their patients will unquestionably follow their advice, as after all, they're the doctor. Sorry, it's a different world. People have more options. And they are better informed now thanks to the Internet (assuming they've visited reputable sites such as the Mayo Clinics' or Johns Hopkins', or the Cleveland Clinics'). And they may no longer blindly follow their doctors' advice without asking some questions. Our acupuncturist told us at our first appointment that: "You must be your own doctor." You have the right and responsibility to question a doctor about anything you don't understand, or whatever treatment options you may have. It's your health after all, and no one is more interested in that than you. read more

Dr. Levine is an exceptional podiatrist!! I have had excellent experiences each time I have visited his office. His quality of care, attention to detail, and his office staff are a huge reason why I keep coming back. My family and I also LOVE that Dr. Levine has a shoe store (Shoefly) conveniently located near his office. I have taken my elderly mother here 3 times now and I have to say Dr. David Levine is fantastic! At first she needed a special shoe for a leg length difference and my request stumped every 'supposed' orthotic shop in the local DC area - so luckily I found Dr. Levine. He has a full service orthotic shop in-house and can custom make any type of orthotic desired, using your own shoes or any from his vast selection. His staff is very friendly and kind and our wait has always been less than 5 minutes. He also does all of the other normal podiatry services, surgery and has a cool gait lab. A really nice guy and a special discovery. We are very pleased with Dr. Levine. read more

We were not able to schedule with Dr. Levine, we had an appointment with his associate, Dr. Bell. She was great. The appointment was for my daughter and she was really nervous. Dr. Bell talked to her and made her feel comfortable. We were in and out in about 15 minutes. The office is clean and the front desk staff is friendly. Definitely recommend. read more

Staff is very friendly and I can't say enough about Dr. Levine! Wish he had been my first choice as a podiatrist. I was unfortunately misdiagnosed and treated by a well known practice in the area. My gut was telling me to get another opinion after they pushed for surgery. He was spot on with what was wrong and turns out surgery won't fix my problem. I am a health care provider and I have inside scoops on medicine that the usual layperson lacks. here is my assessment: Dr Levine is timely, very efficient, really listens to the patient. He takes the time to evaluate and include all variables in his diagnosing. unlike another podiatry office near him, he does NOT try to sell you splints, braces and other devices that may or may not work. He is quite conservative. he is very gentle yet direct with his bedside manner- very very refreshing....no games.. If he has to inject, his technique is superb- very compassionate even with painful procedures. He fully informs his subjects of all he proposes. His orthotics technician is excellent and takes the time to assess and help assure the best fit for your malady, whatever it is. The front office staff is exceptional, polite and never rude, unlike that OTHER office. they work with you to assure that all costs are made clear BEFORE you commit to any costs. Dr Levine also knows his limits and is very very open-minded and willing to refer to other foot/ankle specialists. ****please do NOT go to the other podiatrists - save your self time and money and go to the best MD for feet local to Frederick MD. also: i have been very happy to get feedback from patients I have referred to him- not a single complaint... many of these patients are ex-patients if THAT OTHER practice. read more

I have RSD in my arm. I came here because of foot problems after a fall down the stairs. Dr. Levine was immediately knowledgable about my condition and adjusted his treatment plan based on it. I am so glad I came here!! If I had gone elsewhere I would probably have ended up having surgery causing my chronic pain condition to spread to my legs. read more

I can't even count the number of podiatrist, pediatricians and orthopedist I took my son to who all suggested everything from physical therapy to relieve his leg pain to he was just suffering "growing pains." I knew my son was in horrible pain and not just "faking" as I was also told to get out of doing things. Finally, I took him to see Dr. Levine two years ago where I again had his feet checked. Thanks to Dr. Levine, I finally found out what the problem really was and that it was more rare having to do with his bones turning different directions from below his knee to his feet. With proper treatment, within weeks he was out of pain and is now even playing football. I continue to have Dr. Levine follow my son and I don't care if one day he no longer takes our insurance or we move, I will find a way for Dr. Levine to continue his care. My son is not just a patient to this doctor, but a person and he genuinely listens, cares and won't write you off until he knows what the real problem is. I highly recommend him! read more
