We have been seeing Dr Alcuri for almost 7 years now. I have four children. When I first moved to…read moreFrederick I went to a Pediatricians Office that had many Drs. I always felt like a cow being herded through a slaughter yard when going to that office. Each time having to explain my children's preexisting conditions to the Dr available to take our appointment. Many times this led to undue worries on my part because they did not have a one-on-one history with my child who had an extensive history and therefore they chose to be overly cautious with treatments. As a result of them not individually following her care my time and money was wasted and I was always worried. I had reservations about going to a single Dr because I would loose the appointment availability (weekends) the office of many Pediatricians offered. I can now say it was the best decision I made in caring for my children. I never had to brief Dr Alcuri on my children's preexisting issues. I never had to wait in the lobby for more than five minutes. I could almost always be seen same day even when calling on a Monday morning. If it was the weekend, I could call the after hours line and Dr Alcuri would call me back at any time of the night and advise me on what to do. Bottom line, having a dedicated and competent Dr outweighed having the convenience of more office hours. We are thankful for his Practice and his wonderful care taking skills.

He's also a real pro with getting kids afraid of that pointy cotton tipped strep test they tickle your throat with. Ballenger Creek office staff is fantastic and patient, by the way. Every time. But don't call the TJ office looking for help.

We recently moved to the area and were looking for a pediatrician. After doing some Google…read moresearches, we chose this practice based solely on their high review ratings. We assumed they must be good--but we couldn't have been more wrong. I should have used Yelp. It honestly makes me wonder how they have such stellar reviews on Google. Do they write their own? Do they incentivize people to leave glowing feedback? Is the sky blue? Too many questions, too few answers. The doctor was acceptable--she was decent, but nothing exceptional. The real issue was the front desk. Absolutely horrendous with capital bold H. They act like they're there because they have to be, not because they care. They require records from your previous provider and refuse to see your child without them. You send the paperwork under the false impression that your child will be cared for by a quality pediatric office. Instead, they mishandle the documents and botch the appointment scheduling. One issue after another. Honestly, I won't even waste more words on them. In short: if you're already an established patient, maybe it's fine. But if you're new and looking for a pediatrician--look elsewhere. You will save your sanity and thank me later.

Additionally, the doctor asked if there was anything else I would like to talk about. I mentioned that was having some trouble sleeping. And we talked briefly.(No more than 2-3 Minutes about that subject) The office charged me for a second visit for that brief conversation. And would not remove the charges, even when I objected. I cannot stress enough that you should avoid this doctors office. They are very clearly not interested in inpatient care, and simply interested in a profit. There are too many other doctors in this area for you to waste your time and money with a location like this

My latest appointment left me feeling as though I have no choice but to find a new primary care physician. I had recently gotten lab work done by a hospital as part of a clinical study - when the results came back I was able to tell I had some form of infection. I made an appointment to see the doctor at FCPA in hopes they could confirm this and prescribe me some treatment. Upon reiterating this to the doctor, and physically showing him all the lab results his response was "oh did Doctor Google tell you all this?" I said no and that I am a critical care nurse so I can interpret most lab values, but that I came in order to confirm. He said "oh so you're doctor nurse then, huh?" I found this incredibly rude and degrading. Part of my exam involved taking a look in my pelvic region and completing a swab. Initially they said they wouldn't complete this for me because they don't do "women exams." I said that this is something men get too and what would they do if a man came in with the same results to which they responded that they would do the test. The doctor and nurse left the room and ultimately decided they would complete the swab with a female doctor. Totally fine by me and I was being pleasant about the whole thing, but simply just wanted to be seen and treated. I didn't feel like I was asking for a lot since I have seen a PCP for this issue in the past and it was fine. The doctor came in, admitted she hasn't done this in forever (again totally fine I get it), fumbled around for what felt like forever, and then threw the swabs on the counter without putting them in the vials. The nurse came back in and touched the vaginal swabs with bare hands and put them into the vials. Eventually, they ran their tests and did prescribe me medication which cleared the problem. I am thankful for that, but the entire experience made me feel like I was not valued as a patient. It was very clear that this team felt I was being annoying and unreasonable despite the fact that I was being incredibly understanding, pleasant, and simply asking to be treated for something that is a primary care level problem. As a fellow healthcare worker, I am truly appalled by the attitudes from both the nurse and doctor that took care of me on this day.
