What a great lunch experience. While there was only one woman working the entire room-bar, tables, etc. she understood we were on a tight schedule and made sure the pizza came out quickly. Great taste, good crust, fair price. We would go out of our way to get a pie there in the future. read more

No chefs, only teenagers; don't know how to cook or present; lousy display; average pies; not worth the money for takeout. The staff seemed overwhelmed and untrained, struggling to keep up with orders and often forgetting or mixing up items. Customer interactions felt rushed and impersonal, with little effort to check if everything was satisfactory. It gave the impression that management isn't providing adequate guidance or support, which made the overall experience frustrating and disappointing. read more

All I'll say is don't order the chicken Caesar wrap. Very sad because it used to be my favorite, but since they changed owners it is inedible. Flavorless dressing, brown wilted lettuce... I can't speak for the pizza, I always only got the Caesar wrap. I usually never write reviews but this item was close to my heart and I'm so disappointed the glory days are over. read more

I love this place! I was staying down the road and walked down here for dinner one evening. My server was very attentive and kind. I ordered a 3 meat pizza and it came out quickly and was amazing! Reasonable priced too!! The resturant is a tavern/bar vibe inside as well. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Vermont! read more

Food is OK. Nice place and great staff. Portions are quite large. Parking is easy. Would prefer more Italian dishes. Don't know about the Pizza. read more

This restaurant used to be good, but now it feels like no one cares. I had one of the worst dining experiences of my life here tonight. The issues included: - It's 20 degrees out and the door takes forever to close, so every time someone comes in, you get an endless blast of cold air. They should put a sign on it saying "CLOSE DOOR BEHIND YOU." Or maybe just get a decent door. We were freezing. My son kept his winter coat on. - It took forever to get seated, forever to put in our order and forever to get our food - even PIZZA SLICES. I had to ask three times for a club soda. -They were out of a ton of things including 8 out of 11 beers on tap, lemonade, and bone-in wings. - So we ordered boneless wings which came AFTER the rest of our meal and were basically disgusting chicken nuggets. The Caesar salad also arrived after everything else. - The salmon was adequate but worse than Applebees and basically every other restaurant salmon I've ever ordered. The carrots on the side were undercooked. - They had no way of playing music outside of the TV so we had to turn off the music to put on the Celtics. None of these are unsolvable problems. Someone just has to care enough to solve them. read more

I've liked this place just fine for many years but lately it seems the consensus in my family is the service has really downgraded. Two things to improve: 1. Actually greet pick-up patrons instead of just rudely asking "Pick up?" and "Name?" Tonight when I went in I didn't even receive a hello or goodbye. 2. The post-Covid configuration is unwelcoming. If you call an order in and you go to the front, you actually need to walk around the block all the way the back door. Feels...weirdly punitive like you're punished for calling ahead? If you do walk in for a slice to go, there's nowhere to sit. Maybe a patio or something would improve the vibe. Finally, we need to talk about price. A large speciality pizza being north of $30 is insane. It's good food, but it's not worth that. read more

They advertised on door dash. I ordered. They cancelled because of a problem at store. I called direct and they put me on hold before I could say a word. 10 min later I hung up. This place is a joke. Don't go there. read more

Very good food . Amazing food, good service , go back again , very easy to order over the phone

I've been to this Positive Pie many times in years past though not as often recently because I don't live in Montpelier any longer. I took a friend here today and the food was awful. The beet salad should be called arugula salad now. Where did the beets go? We ordered the Penne Alla Vodka which I can describe as a sauce made from tomato paste and rubber chicken. I was seriously embarrassed I had suggested to go to this place. The service was excellent considering they were clearly understaffed. Get it together Positive Pie. It used to be a treat to go to your restaurant. read more

We are in town for an overnight stay, and really feel like we lucked out getting pizza from Positive Pie. We were about to patronize another place in town, but my son loves black olives on pizza, and the other place only had fancier olives ;) The pizza really exceeded my expectations very airy, thin crust with a delicious mix of mozzarella and sauce. Got a side salad and the maple syrup vinaigrette is interesting and pretty tasty. I suspect the other pizza places in town have their own merits, but Positive Pie really was positive for us! read more

One of the better spots to eat in the area - they have super friendly staff and nice outdoor seating! Large menu and almost everything can be made gluten free which was great for my friend! I would recommend getting the side Caesar salad for an extra $1 since it is pretty great portioned and tasty! Would recommend read more

Positive Pie - Meatball parm Side Caesar - Italian Near Me - Montpelier, Vermont

The pizza was good! The service was abysmal. There were 5 total tables with 3 servers and 1 hostess. Our server brought our pizza out quickly, which we finished in about 15 minutes and had empty water glasses. We waved to her twice and she didn't look at us. We asked another server for a water refill and they said we weren't their table but they'd find our server. 30 minutes after our food was served, I went in to ask the host for our check. It took another 10 minutes for our server to bring it out to us. Totally understandable if they were busy, but we watched the young waitresses chatting at the back of the restaurant rather than checking in with tables. read more

This place has gone downhill since the original owners sold the place. Pizza is ok but nowhere near as good as it once was.

A great experience at Positive Pie for our first time back since they reopened after the July 2023 floods. Our server Aaron was great and attentive while we dined on the outdoor patio during a gorgeous Montpelier evening. Food came out quickly and hit the mark with flavors. read more

Just had lunch here with my husband. We got a pizza, an IPA and a soda. The pizza was excellent, the price was decent and service was prompt. But our waiter made an off putting political comment early on, and followed it with casual misogyny as we were paying the bill. I guess he thought we were like-minded as we're older, like he is. Wrong. I don't think we'll be back soon. read more

My husband and I stopped here for lunch while out on a day trip from Burlington. We each got our own personal pizza for our main meal and shared the poutine as an appetizer. The waitress who took care of us was also the bartender and she was extremely accommodating. I was hesitant to get the BBQ smokehouse pizza because of the bbq sauce and asked if she ever tried it because I was concerned that the sauce would be too overpowering. She offered to ask the kitchen to go light on the sauce. Then when I asked if I could make one of the cocktails a mocktail, she was open to my request and made a delicious drink that made me feel like I was drinking something fancy. Great experience and we'll definitely be back whenever we're in town again! read more

The last couple times I have been here they have been inconsistent. Once I got pizza take out and had barely any toppings on it especially for a $30+ pizza almost like they were running out and just threw a few on. The second time plenty of toppings but one pizza had chicken on it and the pizza never called for chicken. Checked my receipt and I didn't accidentally add it either. Waiting to see what the next experience is going to be like. read more

I enjoyed my eggplant pizza, and hope to return the next time I'm in Vermont. Good service too.

We love Positive Pie. I have to say, we have never dined in! We have always gotten to-go or delivery, and have never had a bad experience. We generally build our own pie with what we are in the mood for that day, but it is always just as requested. My son has gotten some to-go slices at the back window when we are just walking around downtown and the staff is always pleasant and they are quick to come out! I have seen a few reviews regarding the wings--this has been an ongoing issue during COVID. We have ordered wings from here before and they were perfectly fine. Who would have thought that we would be grappling with a chicken wing shortage among so many other things! This crew works hard and have always been nothing but wonderful. read more

While Positive Pie does pizza very well, do not order the roasted chicken dinner. Mine was clearly parboiled and then frozen, and then thawed in the oven. We could taste the freezer burn and the meat shredded when cut into. It cost $18. I expect chicken to be parboiled in the daily meal prep but not the use of old parboiled frozen chicken. Wonder if they do that with the other entrees. read more

Living in the state of New York, my expectations must be too high. We stopped in this restaurant on Monday afternoon June 26th. We were seated promptly but that was it. The table was tacky, service was very slow in bringing silverware and menus, and when I ordered a beer she brought the wrong one. The salad was tasty, as the salad dressing was very good. However, I expected fresh mozzarella on a caprese salad instead of a slab of pizza mozzarella cut into chunks. And as far as the pizza goes... cheese and mushroom which tasted like frozen cheese and mushroom pizza from a cut rate supermarket. To top it off, she had to be reminded to remove the beer from the bill. Very pricey items for unimpressive food. read more

They are now open only for pizza takeout. Via the back door where they always sold slices Still working on the interior post flood

The slices were excellent. However, the remodel has left their patrons missing a safe place to eat. The old configuration had a lovely bar to eat your slices. I have many fond memories eating slices on a Sunday with my kids. Now we are forced to eat in the parking lot like feral animals. Sad. read more

New manager has made a huge difference! Service was cheery and polite, pizza and tap beer terrific!

They have the best pizza I've ever had! I am extremely picky about my pizza, and it's just amazing. The crust is perfection. There's definitely some weird things about the place. The servers are always a bit off. By that I mean not always the most attentive. Although the last time we went, there was a newish male bartender and we were happy with him. Before that visit, we had been many times and had weird interactions with each server. They never seem to hire friendly, bubbly, attentive FOH staff! The only other bummer is that that their dining room is a freezer. They need to figure out their entry way. Either build an entry with a double door, or put a massive heater near the door to offset the cold. I left thinking I wouldn't go back until Spring. I don't mind a chillier restaurant, most are on the colder side. This wasn't just chilly, you might as well sat outside. Other than those two things, it's the best place. I think probably take out is the best option. read more
