In lovely Montpelier, we stopped by Sarducci's for lunch on our way to Stowe. What a GREAT find. To start, we ordered some bread with garlic oil. The oil was infused with lots of crushed garlic, which left the oil itself so fragrant and tasting of garlic. Perfection. I ordered a Greek Salad with some grilled chicken added. My husband ordered a Caesar salad and their Margherita pizza. The Greek salad was magnificent... beautiful presentation, huge salad and lots of wonderful ingredients (mixed greens, marinated artichoke hearts, chickpeas, red onion, Greek olives, feta cheese and roasted red peppers), all of which I love. I always get it with Caesar dressing, just my preference, and I'm always glad I do. Their Caesar dressing was particularly delicious to add to the enjoyment of the salad. What was even a greater surprise was how much I LOVED my husband's pizza. He always offers me a slice, and I usually take one bite and say thank you. This pizza was so freaking good, I ate the entire slice. It was amazing. I think it was the pizza sauce because that pizza style usually is boring to me. This was AMAZING. Another restaurant I'm sad I don't live near. It'd be a really long car ride to get here from where I live, but if YOU are in the area, make sure you give them a try. Really enjoyed the dinner! We got there early on a Thursday and got seated in one of the few choice tables with the Winnooski River view. We enjoyed the mussels gauzzetto and calamari fritti. The Mediterranean chicken was well prepared and tasty. The pasta special was spinach feta almond slices in a light tomato sauce and I substituted penne for fettucine - I thoroughly enjoyed this dish. The margherita pizza was good. We suspect you need reservations for prime dining hours on a weekend. The decor feels a little dated but the food is great. We can forgive the $2 for a quarter loaf of bread because it's only a few dollars and the bread was fresh and served with garlic oil, not like overpriced $10-$12 Parker House Rolls, but it's not a good trend to charge for bread. Service was good until we wanted to pay our bill - that took a little bit. We'll happily return. read more

What a beautiful town Montpelier is. Walking the streets and doing some window shopping. I ended up at the end of main Street at sarducci's. There was ample seating at the bar and as a single I sat down and the bartender was nice and cheerful. She helped me through the menu and I ended up with the fruits of the sea.. in an alfredo sauce. The scallops and shrimps were delicious. The noodles were great and the sauce, although a bit thick was very tasty. The only thing I wish I did different was I ordered the lemon cheesecake.. it was very cold so it'd been stored in the fridge as a slice and it didn't seem to be the freshest but it was okay. The atmosphere is wonderful. The location is great. The service is wonderful. I will be back. I'll just order something different. Dessert. read more

Really really expensive pasta... still the food is good, I liked the eggplant the most, I didnt even really taste like eggplant.. drinks were terrible, sangria was flavorless and watery. We chose Sarducci's for lunch based on the recommendation of the front desk staff at our hotel. Sarducci's offers a selection of Italian dishes including pizza and pasta and other items. They have a parking lot which was helpful in the busy downtown area. We were fortunate enough to be able to get a table on their covered porch. It provided us with scenic views although it also brought us some bee friends who wanted our lunch too. The staff was attentive and efficient. I thought the food was okay. I had the Greek salad which was good and an order of fried calamari. The calamari and accompanying red sauce were both lukewarm which was disappointing. I did ask if the sauce could be warmed up but the second round, while warmer than the first, still seemed cooler than it should have been although it was probably the calamari that should have been hotter. My husband ordered the pulled pork mac and cheese which looked really delicious and he said it was as good as it looked. Overall Sarducci's is a solid option if you are looking for Italian food in Montpelier. read more

I had higher expectations based on previous reviews and ambiance, but I wish we had stopped elsewhere. Missing the basil from a caprese is a major miss, obviously burnt bread on a $16 sandwich? Sarducci's had a reputation amongst the locals so I came in with high expectations. I was here with a group so thankfully had the opportunity to try many things on the menu. Starting with drinks, there were a few cocktail specialties listed as well as an assortment of beer and wine. I started with the maple cream martini (when in Vermont, right?) which came out quickly and was as sweet as you would imagine but with a pleasant kick. There should be a warning to drink it fast before it starts to separate because it eventually became a curdled mess that no longer looked appetizing. I also ordered the Sarducci's Sangria which didn't look like the sangria's I'm used to, but I kept an open mind. The taste was just okay for me. Many of the other guests were enjoying their beer choices however. Appetizers were shared and we had a loaf of bread with olive oil, calamari fritta, shrimp cocktail, and bruschetta. These were all served as one would expi. Nothing special, but none of them were bad. I do generally see free bread for the table at Italian restaurants typically but I digress. For main courses, I only got to try two, but the feedback was generally positive. I personally loved the pasta special. The steak was plentiful and the peppercorn cream sauce was delicious. I also appreciate the generous heap of fresh parmesan that you can have added tableside. The penne ala vodka was also delicious with the smoked chicken added. Most people cleaned their plates or came close to it, so I'd say the mains were everyone's favorite course. For dessert I ordered the Italian lemon cream cake and found it to be light, and rich at the same time. It didn't taste as strongly of lemon as I expected, but I still enjoyed every bite. I also got to taste the maple gelato and it was delightful. Overall, this was a pleasant experience. Our waitress was attentive and the ambiance is comfortable. I loved my linguini al pascatore. It was little garlic-y but overall great. Caprese salad had good balsamic drizzle (but it felt like weird with greens on the side). I enjoyed my chicken Caesar wrap. I would have preferred a little more Caesar dressing. I like mine wet. Not a big fan of the french fries as I don't like french fries coated in whatever these are coated in. My wife did not like her Caprese sandwich at all. She felt the bun was toasted too dark. Both were big enough to have for lunch the next day as well. Prices were good. Parking was a bit tough because they were busy but we found a spot in the lot. Waitress was friendly. With Montpelier's devastating floods this past July that rivaled California's winter ones, there was only a handful of eateries open in downtown for dinner. Burgers and crepes while fun for lunch wasn't our first choice for dinner so decided to wait that hour for Sarducci's. Was it worth the wait? Answer would be yes. Baked scallops and breaded shrimp with garlic lemon capers with linguine and wood charred salmon with risotto, ate every bite including every drop of sauce. If our arrival time wasn't so up in the air since we were driving in that day, reservations would be the way to go as that wait can be brutal when it's colder. read more

I'm giving 4 stars as my Mom loved her shrimp/scallop linguine. She's 90 and loves a margarita..we both had one and they don't skimp on the tequila it was delicious. Service was excellent. However, I order a chicken Caesar wrap and when I picked it up it completely fell apart. Upon that happening it had almost NO chicken in it. The service was very good while the food was excellent. Our charcuterie platter started us off coupled with a loaf of bread that was fresh and accompanied with different garlic. My Mediterranean chicken dish with sun dried tomatoes and feta was great- if in the area again, this dish is worth repeating. A lot of food, good service, full bar and reasonably priced. We liked Sarducci's so much the first night that we came back the following day for lunch. We had fried calamari each day because it was cooked to perfection. Usually rings are rubbery but not at Sarducci's. We had baked pasta, pizza, veal parm and sauteed pasta. My only complaint is the veal was slightly overcooked but otherwise the flavors were rich and the produce fresh. Get a bread basket for $2. Great location right on the river and on warm days they open up the windows so you can catch some sun and see it sparkle on the water. Food was good, I got the Bolognese and my wife got the lobster ravioli with shrimp. We also shared some bruschetta The only Stout they had was Guinness in a can but it still tasted good. My wife had a dry Chardonnay and she liked it. I also tried the local cider, which was OK. Overall a nice little Italian joy right downtown with a great location and friendly people. The worst chicken parm I've ever had in my life (and I've had dozens and dozens). Seriously, how do you screw that up?Two of us got it. It came in a soup bowl with mostly ziti and a few CHUNKS of thin fried chicken bits about an inch square. This was all stuck together under a gooey mess of cheese and marinara sauce, so thick you couldn't tell what you were eating. Chef Boyardee in a can would've been a big improvement. I've eaten here for 15+ years and they either have been sold or are hiring cooks off the street with no credentials. Not sure I'll ever return. read more

The polenta appetizer was really tasty but very large and rich for an app. The calamari was so good and they don't fry any shellfish (I have an allergy) in the same oil so was happy I could order this. Most of our dishes had one thing in common, sauce. Traditionally, some type of bread serving would accompany such Italian dishes or at least be offered by the server. Purchasing bread for such dishes just seems wrong. The food was good and filling. The restaurant was half full and quiet. read more

A favorite of mine when we come to Vermont. The drinks are great (the Old fashioned they make is delish!) the apps and dinners are always so good. I'm obsessed. We stopped here on our way to Canada, had good food and great service. We ordered baked sausage, mac and cheese and the siciliana pizza. I think the pizza was my favorite, wood fired with the perfect balance of cheese, sauce and toppings. We were welcomed as soon as we came in and sat down quickly (4 of us), our server was great without being overly attentive. There was also a nice bar option if that's your preference.
