Everyone in our group has been to Italy and we each loved our experiences. In terms of the food and service, there were definitely authentic Italian vibes; they are passionate about their cuisine and want to share it with everyone. The trouble with Posa is that it is very very loud. I don't recommend a group larger than 4 people because you can't converse with anyone that you can't physically touch. Also, the menu is hard to read because key things are only in Italian (not English) and some in our group had food restrictions. The staff seemed irritated that it took us some time to decide on food and alcohol, so we felt rushed and forced to order their family-style where nearly all decisions are up to them. So while the food was great, the overall experience not so much. Service and Ambience: weight: 3, 2/5 Food: weight: 1, 5/5 If you get family-style, where they decide what you eat, you are at their mercy in terms of how much the final bill will come to. Ours came to $120pp. We ordered alcohol, so it wasn't Bid Gourmand pricing, but for the quantity of food that eventually came out, it was on the high side. Value: weight: 1, 3/5 Posa is nice and the food is good, so if you're just a party of two, and if you can eat outside where it isn't a noise bomb, it would be great. read more

First time I went --during the week--restaurant empty and food was great. I went back on a Saturday night--disaster. No specials left, no lasagna, no pasta, bread was limp and cold, appetizer ice cold and inedible, and we waited 35 minutes for our drinks to arrive, the food sucked. Went this evening. Empty at 6:30. No lasagna, effed up the order, pizza had to go back into the oven, so I asked if I could just have pasta and peas and despite no one in there, I was told they couldn't do special orders (since when is a plate of spaghetti with peas (peas are on their menu as a side dish) a special order at an Italian restaurant ? Especially after what we wanted was sold out. Sadly, terribly inconsistent food wise and service wise. Not returning. read more

I was previously a fan of this restaurant, but unfortunately a recent meal has made me change my mind about this place. Last night's appetizer salad tasted like it had 20 lbs of salt on it . I love salads but it was inedible. The service is too fast like they are trying to rush you out of there , and the prices are way too high for what it is now. Then, the branzino I got was drowned in tomato sauce. Which made me feel queasy later. Will not be coming back anytime soon unfortunately read more

My husband and just returned home from an absolutely FABULOUS dinner at Posa. We had been a couple of times last summer and sat outside, but tonight we sat inside at the bar. Hubby had the swordfish (best EVER!) and I had the Sea Bass - Fantastic!!! We could watch the kitchen from where we were sitting, and we were watching one of the staff making Profiteroles?? They're like round eclairs dipped in chocolate. We order them to go and my husband is eating them now...so I have to go!!! read more

You might want to inform your customers of the $90 price tag before they order the special pasta dish! I have been going to the Liguria and Tuscana region of Italy every year since 1999 visiting both friends and cousins. On our honeymoon we spent time in Castellabate, just south and never bothered with Positano simply because to me, Positano is an overpriced tourist haven. Nice for first timers, nothing worth waiting for or paying extra for as a person who has spent as much time as me in Italy. That's the way I would describe Posa. Here's why. My wife and I pop in about a month ago. No reservation, and happy to get a table. We were told about the specials and a homemade pasta dish with fresh mozzarella and ricotta. Waited 20 minutes for apps and an additional 30 minutes after that for entrees. Would have ordered a second round of drinks to kill the wait but at $16 a glass, meh. To our surprise when the check came, the pasta special was $90 and enough to be an appetizer. ??? I grew up in Ridgefield, live in NYC and travel to Italy every year. Trying to connect the dots on $90 pasta, and I just can't do it. Thanks chef, you truly brought the overpriced tourist haven portion of Positano here. read more

Stopped in at lunch time. Was really excited to get the famous eggplant appetizer thati bc remembered soo fondly and have referred people to here just for that!!! I entered and the place was empty. I Had a seat at the bar and waited to be acknowledged for a very long time. Took 15 minutes to be addressed. When I finally was, and about to get a drink, the phone rang and instead of just pouring my glass of wine(the glass was literally in front of me and the bottle in servers hand), she walked away to take the call and make the reservation making me wait even longer. Again, unapologetic. Eventually i was able to order and get a glass of wine. I requested bread, was told it was being made. I really wanted it to enjoy w the eggplant. I asked about 10 minutes later again and was told it was being sliced. It never came. Then, I requested my tab when I went to pay the bill with cash I was told they had no money in the register and took it all to go shopping today,?,? So I couldn't get change. We had a wonderful luncheon to celebrate my daughter's first birthday and christening. Massimo created the perfect menu for our party. We were in contact several times leading up to the event and I knew we were in great hands. From the shared appetizers to the main course, the food was delicious! The staff was extremely accommodating and attentive. I would absolutely recommend Posa and can't wait to return!!! I was also pleasantly surprised they had a real high chair - not those wooden ones that are sticky and have never been cleaned. Bonus points! read more

I spent the last three days in Danbury exploring local food and posa was an amazing experience. First your greeted by the best host/bartender. Sat down immediately and the food is so authentic chefs from Italy and you start we complementary bread and appetizers provided from the chef. I ordered the seafood dish that included perfectly cook sea bass, mussels, clams, and shrimp. Generous portions and my husband got the gnocchi. You can taste the freshness in the dish. I paired my dish with sangria that reminded me of Italy. A must visit spot with excellent service. read more

More like NOsa! Went on a Sunday night and the restaurant was not busy at all. The Fried Calamari, Zucchini and Shrimp App was amazing but the restaurant ran out of shrimp, so it was just calamari and zucchini. We got a plain pizza for my daughter. My wife and mother ordered the linguini with WCS and both said their pasta was undercooked. I ordered the stuffed pork chop. Had to send my dish back due to the center of the pork being undercooked. I also had to let the wait staff know that they forgot the mashed potato side that was advertised with the pork chop special. By the time I got my plate back and my mashed potatoes, everyone else was done eating. After tip the bill was $193.00. Very disappointing experience. I feel there should have been a price adjustment due to the screw up with the pork AND forgetting my side until the 25th hour when I pointed it out. read more

The decor is lovely. My gluten-free pasta was way undercooked and had to be re-cooked. The next serving that arrived was even smaller than the first. To be fair it is probably the recommended serving size of pasta, but with a few mushrooms tossed in (not one of them tasted like a porcini) $28 seemed a bit steep and I was still hungry. Visited Posa previously for a 3:00 pm party with family. Food and service was very good. Decided to book our annual Christmas Dinner. Arrived 6:15 for 6:30 reservation, was very crowded and we were told sorry but we have a wedding party that was running late. We should get you in soon. Suggested eight of us go to the end of the bar where they provided wine and some comp appetizers. Thirty minutes later no movement, well it should be a few more minutes. More walk in's arriving and being seated before us but they still can't handle table for eight of us. Now we are being asked to move so they could sit new people along the bar, where we are. Where are we supposed to go???We are squeezed into a tiny corner. Clearly the wait staff is overcome with customers and the wedding party shows no sign of moving. After 45 minutes we continue to get apologies but frustrated we are still waiting. Manager says sorry but there is nothing we can do. At 7:30 we are seated and they provide some complimentary appetizers at our table. Overall a disappointing experience from previous visit. While in the afternoon the atmosphere was relaxed and cordial, this was crowded, hectic and noisy. Once seated never received an apology from manager, waiters could barely squeeze near the table to serve. Had to request more water, dish removal, etc. Cleary lots of room for improvement for fine dinning. Food A-, service D+, Ambiance C- A nice place for a casual good meal when they are empty. I wanted to love it, I really did. But I found the whole experience mediocre at best and annoying at worst. The good: My girls liked their pizzas. (I expected better, they looked like they'd be nice and crispy but they were a little soggy). The okay: The stuffed zucchini blossoms were pretty good but I'd say over-battered. The linguine and clams was pretty good but really not great and the pasta was harder than al dente. The bad: The service was pretty terrible. When we were seated THREE servers came over to ask what kind of water we wanted and produced none. I ordered wine and it took FOREVER and then was the scantest pour I've ever seen (and trust me, I've seen a lot of pours). Then they never came to ask if I want more. They seemed to just not make eye contact in general, lest someone actually need something. One illustrative example: When the server was telling us the specials, he included the price. The zucchini blossom appetizer, he told us, was $19. I thought this was a little pricey for stuffed zucchini blossoms but had my heart set on them and I am willing to pay for quality (see above, definitely not the best stuffed zucchini blossoms I've had by a long shot, not awful but over-battered). When the check came they were $21, not $19. Whatever, it's just $2, but I thought I should tell him about his error. I got soooo much attitude about this and he took the check back to adjust it and it took no less than 12 eternal minutes for him to take care of it. Seriously, dude, it wasn't about the $2. (I'm thinking Better Off Dead). So by now I'm annoyed and that's not the type of experience I thought I'd have. You all can have it. I'm not impressed. read more

Had a Holiday $400 dinner w another couple tonight. Three had the "special" Rigatoni, and one had Halibut. Halibut was dry, Rigatoni undercooked, meatballs and sausage and short ribs dry. I have been to this restaurant four times. It's good for lunch. The service at lunch is much better than in the evening. We went with friends last night and waited 30 minutes for our server to show up, another 20 minutes for our drinks and another 30 minutes for her to take our order!!! Although the food is good, and even though we were there on the early side, they did not have many items on the menu (which the wait server was not aware of when she took our order which added more time to getting our food). Also, the menu was very limited. Our wait server and the hostess were very nice, but overall this was not a good experience. We will not be returning. read more

We had not been to Posa recently but had excellent meals there in the past. What a disappointment! While the overworked manager did his best to serve us, the food took forever and was not worth the wait. The pasta dish that took over an hour was mushy and the mushrooms rubbery. The bar and restaurant were filled with the most pretentious and loud patrons we have experienced in our 10 years of living here. Been twice now and the food is fresh and delicious. Both times we got the charcuterie board (for two)- very big, but absolutely worth it. We got a warm welcome to this very inviting restaurant. But the service and food did not live up to our expectations. I ordered radicchio salad and the only radicchio was a tiny garnish on top. We asked for a pepper mill, and it didn't work. We asked for hot pepper flakes 3 times before they arrived. On the bill we noticed we were charged $2 for ice cubes for the cocktails we ordered. This is a first. It will probably be our last time at Posa. High prices, bad service. read more

Everything about this restaurant is top notch, from the beautiful serving pieces, to the lighting, to the fine details, and most importantly the delicious, fresh food. Wait staff can't seem to pay attention to all tables, larger parties tend to be serviced more than dinner for dinner for two. Just left there for the 2nd time. Our first experience was great. Wonderful food and service. Tonight was terrible! The server was the only one on staff and she was too busy. Wanted something other than potato that came with my meal and asked if there were any veggies and was told, no, we only have endive but when my husbands dinner came I could see that they had other vegetables. She wasn't able to be attentive at all because she had too many tables. It was physically cramped and just made for a unpleasant experience. Won't be returning as there are plenty of overpriced restaurants with much better service and veggies. read more

Popped in for dinner while in Ridgefield for work before making my way back to the city. Posa has a beautiful, airy design and atmosphere with authentic Italian dishes that are sooo delicious. My mouth is watering just thinking back to them. The zucchini flowers are a must, so is the creamy buffalo mozzarella, and the branzino was a classic choice that did not leave me disappointed. Even with all the great restaurants in NYC, I'm slightly jealous of the locals who get to go to Posa on a regular basis. Definitely not to be missed. read more

Food is good but not excellent Atmosphere is quite nice. $50.00 for a Zuppa Di Pesce is a bit crazy. I ended up ordering a salad, the gnocchi, desert and cappuccino. I shared some bottled water with my friends. I left feeling a bit fleeced and with a bill of $150 dollars. The gnocchi was fair, the salad not much more than a salad, and the desert passable. The quandary of finding a way to pay for the costly construction and survive in a small town is understandable. But I think the excessive cost for good but not excellent cuisine will result in a Deja Vu all over again moment for this space. read more

Other reviews seem very up and down, and we got an off night. It was Sunday and pretty slow, but there was one server and one busser for the whole restaurant - maybe 12 tables. They did an admirable job, considering. The food and drinks were generally good. We both ordered the ravioli pasta special as an entree. One arrived room temperature, the other arrived cold. They were plated onto cold plates and probably left sitting a long time before the server could get to them. Once reheated they were fine, but the extra 10 min delay was annoying. Also important to note that the pasta dishes are sized authentically Italian as "primi" - a first course that still leaves room for your entree. They are not the heaping bowls of pasta many expect from Italian restaurants here. The restaurant is rather expensive - salads are 20-24, pastas 25-40 and entrees 35-55. even the pizza were 20-30. Two people could easily spend $300 if they had 3 courses and wine. Even with recent inflation these are "fine dining" prices - cold plates don't cut it. The restaurant was nicely decorated and laid out but extremely dark - nothing like the pictures on the website. This made the bright, cold fluorescent lights of the open kitchen much more glaring for those of us sitting nearby. To be fair, I would certainly give this restaurant another try, to hopefully get them on one of the good nights that generate the 5 start reviews! read more
