This dedicated gluten free bakery offers pastries, baked goods, alongside delicious sandwiches and pizza. Located in the Ferry Building, this walk up bakery has a great set up that keeps lines moving and allows you to see all of the incredible options. They also have super thoughtful additions such as birthday candles near the cake section. My non-gluten free friend ordered the olive, cheese and bacon pinwheel which was delicious. I had a Gobbler for lunch, a sandwich complete with cranberry sauce, and ordered a variety of pastries for the evening and the plane ride home the next day! While it was all amazing, the summer hand pie was probably my favorite. I went back to grab some wrapped pastries right around the time they were closing and the staff were so kind! They told me they had already put some things away but would be happy to pull them out for me. I am dreaming of Mariposa from the east coast.

This baker was at the first February 2021 Saturday Ferry Farmers market as announced in the weekly CUESA newsletter. Walking over halfway through my shopping mission, I waited as a customer finished his purchase in studying there menu and eventually buying a few items. With a friend being gluten sensitive, I noticed there were a few items that would fit her requirements and picked them up for her. As they put that together, I decided to try two menu items. I started with the With love from Berlin (almond bar) (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=ytuJeNuqpY1aV-CsK1halA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) later that afternoon; it was delicious and, unlike many gluten free pastries, it was not dense nor dry. A few days later, I succumbed to temptation and tried the Almost famous (double chocolate cookie) (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Mb_Eo21HbnyuBvw2yr2_LA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q); a chocolate cookie laden with white chocolate chips, this was on the cakey side but still delicious especially as I paired with with a cup of tea. A telling compliment was that my friend called me later that Saturday and asked me about the price before telling me to make sure to stop there again next Saturday. I need to study their menu a little closer before that to see if there's anything else that piques my interest. Another nice perk was the jar on the far left end of the table (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=2wMfTp0zBOJ3CU7SvZI7vg&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q). They offered doggie treats for our fur baby which she bagged just like she did my purchases. When I got home, I studied their Instagram profile as well as the displayed flyers at their table which gave me great insight on her mission and vision in creating her baked goods. Needless to say, see you later today!

A plethora of vegan treats that look almost too indulgent to be missing butter, eggs and milk!…read more Most are rich and tasty. Some are even better than non-vegan desserts! Bite Me Quickly: Quite a familiar treat; a coconut macaroon dipped in dark chocolate. Felt more airy than a typical macaroon, maybe because there was less sweet binding stuff. Classic Florentine: I love sweet crunchy Florentine cookies, but this was far from classic. Instead of being crispy all around, there was a moist cakey bit with strong orange flavors. under the crunchy almonds Really delicious, even better than the classic version! Cranberry Love: A cranberry, macadamia, white chocolate cookie. I'd never guess it was vegan. Quite tasty combo of flavors and textures. Orange & Chocolate: Shaped like a cupcake, but more like a dense olive oil cake with a really bitter (in a good way) dark chocolate ganache on top. Loved all the orange aromas in the cake too. Yummy Cheesey: Looked like it's going to be dry, but is quite moist and "buttery". Very rich. This Is Nuts: Not a fan at all! Wasn't sweet. Tasted kinda funky. Supposed to be like a garlic cheese roll, but vegan. Reminds me of a vegan Slim Jim. Not for me.

On Saturdays, it's located in the back lot area between the Grande Creperie and Cholita Linda. I normally get the almond tart, one of their focaccias if I'm in a savory mood, or a brownie. Recently, I've been getting their scones and random things for myself and bran muffins for a friend. On a recent visit, I noticed a new item, the citrus syrup cake (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=0REiDP9oNibl7KpR4vDItg); a few days later, I cut a slice (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=mQnjKG7wYMJdMOqGFPe0xQ). Sigh, this brought back childhood memories of a moist butter cake that my mom used to buy for our family to share during after school or after dinner at home. Pair this with a cup of hot tea, coffee if that's your preference. Thank you, Levi, for being there from the beginning for me, offering suggestions. Eye the selection of goodies before hopping in the line to keep it flowing. I'll be here this morning and see what else is new.

While they did a better job of having chew than other pieces of bread they call bagels here on the West Coast, it was still a little lacking. The bagels options were 6 choices available each day of the week, and one that's special for the day. The 6 choices are: plain, sesame, poppy, onion, sea salt, everything. Additionally, compared to the competitors out there, the filling was a little skimpy. Other places have more filling--and more tasty filling--than this place. I got a classic. Additionally, the drinks were just ok. I would warn those who would like to have their drink sweetened but sugar free that it isn't possible. The only sweetener they had when we inquired was a simple syrup. No non-sugar alternatives. Nice ordering system where you can order via touchscreen.

Tried some of the cookies too, but they're not as wow worthy as the bomboloni. Nutella Bomboloni: This is such a pleasant indulgence for me. A very generous amount of Nutella fillings, like more than you'd spread on toast. Tastes excellent against the yeasty and sweet filled doughnut. I could eat this every day for breakfast, but thankfully they're only at the Ferry Building once a week. Raspberry Bomboloni: Another favorite. High quality raspberry jam stuffed inside that fluffy doughnut. No weird jelly-like gelatinous filling, more like they scooped it right out of the jam jar. Tastes tart and sweet and delicious. Pistachio Bomboloni: Kinda like custard with a subtle pistachio taste. Wish it was a bit stronger on the pistachio flavor. Custard Bomboloni: If you like creamy, this is for you. But personally, having eaten so many Boston Cream doughnuts over my life, I was missing the chocolate ganache contrast. Potato Chip Cookie: Like a regular chocolate chip cookie, but with a few potato chip pieces baked it. The extra crunch and saltiness is a nice addition. Though it's not revolutionary. Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie: Chocolate chip cookie with some peanut butter cup pieces and peanut butter baked into the cookie. A classic pairing.

Of all the bakeries at the farmers market, Marla had by far the longest line, which was encouraging. The line moved quickly because they display all of their baked goods, and customers simply point at what they want. I was tempted by the scrumptious-looking sweet and savory pastries, from a slice of frosted cake to a summer squash tartine. Since I was running out of space in my bag, I decided to get a fresh baguette for the week. I enjoyed the baguette when I got home; the texture was chewy but not tough, and the flavor was a sourdough twist on a traditional French baguette. The smaller size was perfect for one person, and the rest of the loaf preserved well in the freezer. I am looking forward to trying some of the other pastries on my next visit.

It's been a while and I was surprised that I never wrote a review…read more After a long history of having a stand at the Tuesday and Saturday Ferry Farmer's market, this popular bakery announced that they would only be doing north bay markets due to their family situation. A few weeks ago, I was happy to see them have a stand at the Saturday market again and I'm sure other SF locals feel the same way. When I told my friend who used to by their bread on a regular basis, she asked me for their menu in deciding what to buy so I sent her a photo of the menu for that day (). After a short time, she called me back and told me what she wanted. While buying her goodies, she asked me about the tartine (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=BDd5NjvOoXSziVk1xqovhQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) and I described it to her. In reading it to myself, I convinced myself to try one. The flavor for this particular Saturday was roasted mushrooms, season farmers cheese, and melted cheddar. I reheated this the next morning for breakfast and was happy that I did. All of the flavors were balanced and in a good way. Being a huge mushroom fan, I couldn't help but savor every bite. I have bought their cookies and brownies in the past but it's been a long time so I don't remember much about them. If they are there again this weekend, I guess one of those will be my next purchase. *** Sadly, during my last visit on Saturday 3/25/23, the gentleman owner told me that this would be their last appearance at this market going forward.
