Can't hate Portillo's. They have a double-drive-thru lane, have employees out in the freezing cold trying to get your order ahead of time, and it's fun to go. Love the layout, good location, decent service. I always believed the food was a little overpriced, but if you want better priced hotdogs and shakes, just go to Weinerville, because it's pretty much the same thing. Obviously, the eclair cake is awesome. People like the cake shake? I've never had it. Just get a meal from here and you probably won't complain about the food. I just purchased 2 hotdogs and an eclair cake for about $10. There ya go. read more

I'm shocked by all of the bad reviews. I've been to this Portillo's at least once per month, if not more. The food is always consistent and delicious and served fast. The drive through as well. Someone takes your order, you pull up and pay and then you either pull up or they come to you while you're waiting. I'm planning on moving to Florida in the next few years and have decided on the Tampa area, because Portillo's is there! read more

Have to be honest. I have loved portillos for years and gone to this location likely 100 times. It seems to really suck lately. Orders are constantly wrong and it now takes forever. We ordered from Portillos for lunch at our office today. The order was screwed up - some items missing (even though they were on the receipt and we were charged for them) and one person's Polish sausage was burned (and the griled onions were raw) - it was inedible. When we called to request that they fix the order - they refused, saying they didn't have a driver available. So a couple of people didn't get lunch. Very nice. read more

When I was still pregnant me and my husband used to come here a lot since I craved for their cheeseburger + fries and strawberry milkshake. Inexpensive and fulfilling! Cool vibe inside, gives you the feeling from the 80's. Bathrooms are clean and noise level comes from pretty quiet to moderate. Drive through is always a long line so I just always go down to order even if it's a take out. Do not leave without the chocolate cake. It's amazingly good! Only reason I did not give this location a 5 star is because they do not have Barnelli's and there are times I crave for their fettuccine alfredo. Hopefully they will soon? read more

Okay so usually great place but last few times I've received horrible service i doordash and i call to tell them my order and it's the same lady all the time and she's one of the most rude people I've talked to she is very inpatient when she can't hear u she gets mad and we ended up yelling at each other over the phone very rude and disrespectful. This would be a solid five stars but over the 4 times I've been here the service has been consistently lax. Not bad. Having gone to other locations a fair number of times, this one is definitely not the best service. BUT...the food is always great! The Combo is my favorite, and I always get the Chocolate Cake or Chocolate Cake Shake. read more

This is either the newest Portillo's location, or at least among the newest. It's in a great spot along Randall Road that's not too congested (yet), so it's fairly easy to get into. That said, the parking lot/drive thru situation is a little unusual, so be careful when you go there for the first time. That said, they do all of the right things here that makes Portillo's a great place to eat, no matter which location. I'm personally a fan of the beef with hot peppers, but last night I had a fantastic bacon burger, so you're not likely to go wrong here. If you like Portillo's, or any place like it, you'll be perfectly happy here. Oh, and outdoor seating! read more

Portillos is known for having the fastest and most organized drive-thru of any fast food joint in the area. Unfortunately, I've been noticing their accuracy has really fallen off. I've gotten smart enough to check the bag before leaving now (!) but after having the order read back to me no less than 3x, you'd think they could get it right more often. Missing cheese for cheese fries, beef sandwich falling apart (soaked when asked for "dry"), asked for "easy relish" and got none. A drivethru is only convenient when its fast AND accurate...it doesn't make it worth the trip if you have to park and go in to have it made right while you wait...again. read more

I give them two stars. I LOVE the food here but the service is terrible. I've heard this alot from different people. Even people who work in this store and from other stores!! Something must be wrong here then. They mess up orders all the time. Their drive thru is a joke! And they're rude. I have met a few good workers here that are kind and funny. Seriously if there is a problem with your food keep going. The managers don't care the employees grunt and give attitude when it is brought to their attention. The drive through lanes look like rush hour traffic and they still managed to get me in and out in a decent amount of time. This place has really gotten bad lately. I was with family from out of town, so I didn't want to make a big deal out of it, but my food was terrible. I had cheese fries, and a beef and cheddar croissant. The cheese sauce was lukewarm, the croissant was stale, and the beef wasn't warm enough to melt the cheese, dry and tough. I once loved Portillo's. A friend and I recently ate lunch there eating Italian Beef sandwiches. I had food poisoning and when I recieved a text from my friend asking if I was sick too, I knew Portillos was to blame. I understand that things can go wrong when preparing food or storing food and the effects are disastrous. What I can not understand is when I called to tell the manager that I was sick she apologized but said "because I had not been to the doctor and I was the first complaint that she was not planning to dispose of the food." To me that is gross, when it comes to food born illness I would prefer to think any restaurant I eat at errors in the way of caution. My advice is plan two to three free days next time you eat at Portillos. read more

Came here for my first Chicago style hot dog on the suggestion of my guy who is self mandated to stop at one of the many Portillo's locations every time he makes a trip home. I'm generally not a big hot dog fan. In fact the only time I ever have a hot dog is at a ballpark, and the only hot dogs I typically enjoy are Fenway Franks. When the Red Sox are winning. But I digress. Here we are in Chi town and in addition to deep dish and Chicago style thin crust pizza, this was the other item I was told I must try. The first thing I noticed was a realllllly long drive thru line. And three attendants taking orders. It made me wonder what they do in the winter (bundle up). We opted to dine inside and after a brief glance at the menu, made our selections. I was thankful that the server read back our order to ensure it was correct, as a number of reviews here mentioned problems with receiving the correct meal. We were issued a receipt and waited for our number to be called, which was approximately 5 minutes later. Grabbed a table by the window and dug in. The fries were crinkle cut and covered with just the right amount of salt. The dog itself was served with everything: neon green relish, mustard, tomatoes, onions and sport peppers (which I promptly removed and gave to my bf) and placed in a steamed poppyseed bun. I resisted the temptation to put ketchup on and reserved that for the fries only; I was on strict orders to be authentic. My guy got an Italian beef sandwich. I tried a bite and it was juicy and seasoned to perfection, though I don't think I would have liked the soggy bun. My meal was finished with a vanilla milkshake because I needed to satisfy my sweet tooth after all that salty goodness. And while I wasn't watching a ballgame, I still managed to enjoy the hotdog. I don't know what happened to the food at portillos, but it changed. The quality isn't as good as what it used to be. They had great burgers, but now the buns kind of suck, the burgers are nothing more than frozen Glenmark burgers you buy at the grocery store... they started using that neon green relish... they took a huge icon and ruined it. The only reason people still go there is for the name. But that's starting to fade too. A few co workers and I went here the other day for lunch and we won't return. There are better place to eat now. Please go back to what it used to be. The new changes are not good! You're ruining Portillo's! read more

The food is good but that's it. The service at this location is terrible. They're open until midnight and I've gone here at like 11:30 at night. They told me they were completely out of food for the night and were only serving drinks. When they do have food that late at night, it takes like 20 minutes to go through the drive thru when there's literally no one else there. These guys rock! I love the food at Portillo's. It is probably the only fast food place I enjoy eating in Illinois. Actually, the midwest. The salads are fresh, the onion rings are awesome and the coleslaw is great. The only problem is sometimes, it is hard to get extra ranch for my salads, than other times, they give me like twenty extra ranches. I do have to say the customer service was slopping, but they got rid of a few people, who seem to want to socialize more than work at Portillo's. Great food and service now! read more

I've been to several franchises. This was the first that seemed to be "open floor plan" with no privacy nooks/booths. The char-burger and dog were great, but the post-supper crowd had passed and there didn't appear to be any employees willing/available to straighten up chairs or sweep the debris off the floors around the cafeteria-style tables. Someone else ordered for me and I got some poppyseed salad. The chicken was unimpressive. Like clinically rubbery slices of fake deli chicken. Even Wendy's (which I don't eat at but can account for) uses a grilled chicken breast. It makes a word of difference. Why use iceberg? Why not some spinach? Unimpressive salad, unsure of what my friend paid for it, but I feel bad they did because I hardly ate it. I am willing to bet the italian beef sandwiches are amazing though. They look fantastic. I cannot express how much I LOVE this place!! It's so hard to drive by this place and not grab something to eat! It's even worse because this place is just down the road from my house!! Although the drive thru may always be packed, they're fairly speedy. Everything is good and you can't go wrong with anything on the menu! The fries are absolutely delicious and the shakes are to die for (any of them)!! I'm also a fan of their chili dogs. When I try to be "healthier" their salads are a good pick too - I prefer the southwestern chicken on. It's just a little odd that you get a poppyseed muffin with it. I still haven't quite figured that out. Ever since moving here from California just over a year ago, I've quickly converted to the Portillos addiction!!! Go there now!!! read more

Management is BEHOND AWFUL! The food here used to be very good, but it seems like everyone is mad here. It very much seems like they don't get paid enough(bad gm i bet!).
