Heard good things but was pretty disappointed. First and biggest problem was an item missing from my order (baba ghanouj). Even if I bothered to drive all the way back to argue about it they would've been closed so no recourse. Food tasted like it would've been good but was mostly very dry. I did come an hour before closing but I don't think that means I should've been served mummified food. No sauces were included with my combination plate, don't know if that's nonsense protocol or another oversight as with my missing baba ghanouj. Part of the combination plate includes Spicy Chili Chicken which looks good on their website, red and well seasoned. But what I got was pale, bland and completely devoid of any spiciness. It's almost like they make their food in an unauthentic way to cater to white folks cuz they don't think we can handle the flavor ‍ I've used shawarma marinade packets from Jewel that tasted better than whatever they use. Also their pita bread is pretty low quality, like the difference between Turano and Butternut bread. Funny since that's their namesake. Won't be returning or recommending. read more

Well.... I have started a road trip around the suburbs for a good Shawarma. This was my second spot so far ( days apart ). .... I was very hopeful that it would be a decent place, or more of a nice expectation, ( while doing my research, it seemed credible ) Unfortunately, once I took my few steps inside, all I noticed was how dirty this place is. I gave myself a second thought of whether I should even order, but I decided to anyways. I was told it will take 10 minutes ( to go ) and so I sat down at one of the tables. It was nasty dirty: crumbs and stickiness all over. The whole place looked very very dirty. I was so skeptical about even trying my food. I got home 20 minutes later, and I gave it a shot. I cut the Shawarma in half, and begun my adventure..... my first bite had a ligament, ( yuck ) I continued to try eating the first half, ... it was completely bland, ... there was a few vegetables, one of which was warm tomato skin! I had no more thought, I threw the other half of the Chicken Shawarma out to the garage. A few hours later, my stomach began to hurt, .... You know what happened next. So, in my "Opinion" I would not recommend this place at all if you're searching for a good Shawarma. I will keep looking around and post more reviews. read more

It's no longer as good as it used to be...more bland, less spicy and it looks less colorful than it used to. I dunno what they changed but its not a good change, used to be the sole reason I came here. Stopped by for lunch the other day with my kid. The people working there are super nice. The restaurant is a little dated and could use a deep clean and refresh. We got two pita's, a frie, and a drink. It was $30. So may other places to get lunch for less. My son just got meat on this pita, and it was good. I had it with everything and garlic sauce. The garlic sauce is runny, and overpowered the sandwich. The fries were fresh and really good. Overall, it was expensive and just ok. I probably won't be back. read more

I was in Elgin and had dinner here on a Sunday. The restaurant looks more fast food like on the inside. The service was standard, order at the counter and find a table to sit. I opted for the spicy chili chicken from Yelp recommendations. The food was ready quickly and the portions were large enough to make two servings. The chili chicken was slightly spicy which was enough for me. The red color makes it look way more spicier than it actually is. The chicken had some good flavors and their creamy garlic sauce was so tasty. There was plenty of rice to accompany the chicken and the pita bread was soft and fresh. Recently ordered through DoorDash after only having been there in person or takeout. The food was still incredibly fresh and delicious. Surprisingly good Indian/greek casual spot. Although not a great spot for dining in, LOTS of people were popping in for pickup. I had the chicken kabob plate. It was $16 and too much for one seating. And the marinade/seasoning they used-delicious! It takes a minute to get food as it is cooked from scratch but because of that the chicken was tender and juicy which is challenging with small pieces like that. I would go out of my way again for it. Dinging one star for lack of atmosphere and disappointing dining room. If they could fix up the tables and chairs a bit, 5 stars for sure! read more

The people at the counter are always super polite. Food always comes out good. Haven't had a bad thing from here. Although, I do miss when they had jones soda on their fountain bc you rarely see that anywhere. The best mediterranean food you can get in the area for sure. When Pita BBQ first opened in Streamwood, the food and service were fantastic. It was nice to see that they were doing well enough to open a second location in South Elgin, too. Sadly, the quality of the food, its preparation, and service have steadily declined since then. Today, I stopped at the South Elgin location for lunch since I was nearby. It had been close to a year since last eating there. I ordered a simple spicy falafel wrap and hoped that it wouldn't disappoint. It did. It was so disappointing. The falafel were mushy, not to mention tiny, and it wasn't spicy at all. By volume, there was more onion in the wrap than falafel as well. I have made far better at home. I will not be returning to Pita BBQ, either location. Far better falafel (food in general) can be found at Pita Pita or at Pita Inn. read more

I mean... it tasted pretty good, but I wasn't blown away by anything. It's worth a visit to find out for yourself, but we live over 30 minutes away and don't think we'll be rushing back for a craving. Please don't let this deter you from trying it out. We had the spicy chicken platter and sandwich and we did enjoy the chicken. The sandwich is long, but skinny and not dense with content. It could use more filling of cabbage, or salad, or I've seen some places add fries for more body. That said, I ate it very quickly as the sauce was flavorful and at the perfect level of spice. The platter was decent, with the hummus finely puréed (not my preference) and the Lebanese salad was unique and tasty. My employer had our holiday lunch supplied from Pita BBQ and it was FANTASTIC!!!! I don't live close to the restaurant (30 min away), but I can assure you I will be making the trek down Randall Rd to have dinner! really delicious, flavorful and the Falafel was the best I've ever had. The pita was fresh and tender and I chose the beef shawarma and garlic sauce from the selection we had and it was superb. In fact, just writing this review is making me hungry and a trek to So Elgin will be happening this weekend :-) read more

5 star food, prices and portions. 2 star service. Don't bother placing an order online for pick-up. They never 'get it' and wind up making the order when you show up to get it. Also, often forget sides/extras so check before you leave. Husband had to go back for some items they forgot and they locked the door in his face when he arrived because it was 8pm. Start with compliments on using halal meats. When asked. Reply was "of course.". And using middle eastern music in restaurant. Really adds to ambiance. I ordered vegetarian lunch special saving meat for a special occasion. Hummus (smooth) and falafel (crispy) were good. Pita was off-tasting to me. I don't think it's fresh made. I tried to call for pickup and line was busy for 20 minutes. I drove then walked into order my lunch. I had to wait inside so stayed to eat. Went here this past weekend to order food to go. The place was dimly lit and didn't look like it was open. Thankfully it was. We ordered two mixed shawarma plates. Overall the quantity of food was good and it had great flavor. Hummus was too oily for my liking, but the garlic sauce was delicious. My only real complaint was the menu stated the plates came with additional items (e.g. tomato, onion, pickles, etc.) however none of this was included. Additionally the place could use a good clean. First of all, I just want to say how AMAZING the customer service is!!! This place is such a joy to come and visit and eat at. I feel like I'm friends with all of their staff! It has a very clean and homey feel in the restaurant. I have no complaints. I have yet to run into an issue with this great establishment. I will say the prices went up but, the price is WORTH IT!!! The food is delicious. It's savory, full of flavor. I cant get enough of this place. The portions they give you are more than enough to make you full. I always end up taking some home. By far the best Mediterranean Food I have ever had and after seeing the kitchen, it is clean and the food is, as I said, all local and fresh from the spices to the amazing meats. I ordered from the South Elgin location: The price tag is higher here- through Door Dash, it was $2.00 more than on menu, and this was a rare splurge meal so I get a little extra cranky when disappointed, but here it is: It tasted decent to me, not better than other places I've been that charge less, and honestly I like Naf Naf better ‍‍ Lame taste buds?? I dunno. The amount of chicken they gave was decent - they didn't skimp, and it was pretty tender. This location doesn't accept special instructions through Door Dash, so I couldn't ask for more tahini sauce and there wasn't enough for me. If you order this, it's 3.50 extra for pita and hummus (they did put in a pita anyway though) - overall a pricey meal that I didn't find especially tasty - not bad - just not worth it to me. Also, the picture is not their food, you get plain basmati rice but not the tasty yellow version as pictured. I would go back in time and keep the money I spent in my ever-so-humble budget. read more
