Wanted a good gyros and saw Pita BBQ one day. Finally got to stop there with my granddaughter one day. It was nothing to look at, no one was eating there when we arrived, but we were warmly greeted by a young man behind the counter. I ordered the gyros plate and granddaughter had the chicken schwarma plate. We took a seat and soon an older lady served our food. It looked wonderful and plentiful,the plate could hardly contain all the rice, meats , salad and pita bread, which we put on a napkin. Sauce that accompanied was good. I tried her schwarma sauce and liked it . She went to the counter to get me a serving. He gave it to her without charging for it , which was a nice surprise. I want to add that I could taste the nice quality of extra virgin olive oil on my little and tasty salad. We asked for a box and bags for our leftovers and had enough for a late night meal.As we left, we went to the counter and told them that we enjoyed the food and would be back. As these two; the young man who took the order and prepared the food and the lady who served us were so friendly and cordial, I didnt hesitate to leave something in their tip jar. We had a great family meal here. Outdoor seating was clean and service was great. We had the combination feast, chicken kebab wrap, and lamb kebabs. All the meals were delicious and the portions were very large. They even brought out extra meat for our dogs as they lounged under the table. There was a place by their house, checked Yelp-they had 3.5 stars-thanks but no thanks. Pita BBQ had 4.5 stars with glowing reviews. Restaurant was 6 miles away, so I went to pick up my $100 order. Pita BBQ's food not only smells delicious, it tastes delicious as well. There wasn't a morsel in sight when my family and I got done eating. I got the combo plate with salad, no rice. Service was friendly and pricing was fair. The menu is somewhat limited; for example, they don't have kufta kabob. We ordered samurai wings (which is rung up separately), and a mixed shawarma bowl. This food is insanely good! I've passed by this place many times but we finally decided to try it and we were very impressed! It has been a while since I wrote a review since, during COVID, we've either been picking up or getting delivery. We ordered from Pita BBQ tonight and I have to say it was better than expected. Considering the two meals we got were packed in black stylophone food boxes, we weren't really expecting much in the way of presentation. We were very surprised when we opened the boxes and saw how nicely put together it was. Fortunately, we got pictures before we dug in to eat. The two orders were Chicken Shawarma and their Mixed Shawarma. There was plenty of food - very large portions. Both included a really nice salad, rice, one pocket pita cut into two pieces. The salad, rice, and the Shawarma were absolutely spot-on delicious. I was a little disappointed in the Pita, though. Typically we're used to getting fresh Pita from Felafel/Shawarma Restaurants. Either these were made my Pita BBQ and were stale, or they were bought from a grocer. It really wasn't up to par with the rest of the meal. The pita was dry. I ordered the regular chicken wrap, but wished I had ordered the beef wrap. Their chicken is flavorless. They make up for that with lots of white sauce that's extremely garlicky. We shared an order of Fatoush salad. Overall the meal was filling, but average. The service was also average. All this would be worth three stars. Here's why I give it only two stars: as I mentioned above, we came an hour after they opened. The dining area was dirty (floors). Hubby said the men's room was dirty. We have been here several times and it was always excellent. We got take out today and it was all just kinda wrong. I was 10 minutes early and went in to see if it was ready...I stood there several minutes before anyone acknowledged me and then yes my food was there and was sitting for awhile. Get home, no sauces or anything, my falafel wrap was dry and mushed up. Also like the others have noticed it was in a tortilla. The normally excellent hummus was not good, over oiled and tasted like too much tahini, nothing like it used to be.
