It was clear the woman, who I think is the crabby owner, didn't want to cut a piece off of a large fish that looked super fresh. Rather, tried to upsell a larger piece that was separate and looked a little off color. After cutting a piece to my size I was overcharged by about $10 bucks. Apparently she put a little extra weight on the scale! Not cool. I called her on it and it was corrected but really?? So, watch the scale folks and watch your pocket.

That being said, make sure that you pack away a couple "bones" when you see the check- also make sure that you tip your waiter for the outstanding job that they do. So don't skimp on that either. So again: It isn't cheap, but a place like this shouldn't be. We had a great experience overall- Also, this isn't your T-shirt and shorts type of place. You have to dress up. No schleps.. Capeesh?!!? leave your sandals at home. Which it should be. This is an experience, not your local In-N-Out Burger joint. What we ordered for 3 adults: 1 lb peeled shrimp, mild, + corn + potatoes 1 lb black mussels, mild, + corn + potatoes 1 lb clams, mild 1 corn on the side 1 sausage on the side onion rings chicken tenders and fries 2 orders of rice We had plenty of food and enough for leftovers. My favorite part might be the cajun butter sauce with white rice... even more than the seafood. I love white rice with basically any sauce. The food was fresh, the sauce was mild as requested, still flavorful and not too salty. If you order the clams on its own, no sides, the bag might seem a little small but that's just because the clam meat is so small. For takeout, your seafood will come double bagged so it was leak proof. We decided to empty the bags into bowls since we were doing family style, and it was a hearty meal. I can't comment on the ambiance since it was a takeout order, but we enjoyed our food. We'll be back!

Needing something different for dinner post golf, decided to give Spanky's a try. Received well at the counter and in the mood for a Philly cheesesteak, saw on the huge menu their crunchy version which sounded interesting so I thought I would try it. Must have really looked like a complete newbie there because the gentleman at the counter took the time to make sure I knew exactly what it was ... a tortilla wrapped cheesesteak deep fried. For variety and comparison, added a maxwell street polish to the order. Got home and dove into my feast. The polish was as good, if not better than most had anywhere else. As for the crunchy cheesesteak, it was amazing. Even with the drive home and delay to jump in, it was piping hot with a perfect cheesesteak core, well-seasoned and delicious with the tortilla wrap holding everything together keeping your hands clean. Was also surprised how well the fries were holding up too, very good. Definitely recommend a visit especially when you want a change of pace. I will be back. Update: Went back and had the crispy gym shoe ... wow, 2 meals in that thing. Very good. Think I prefer the philly version better though. read more
