Checked out this Middle Eastern restaurant in Hoffman Estates. Falafil Hut is a bare bones kind of place. It has no bathroom, no napkins, and one table. A poor place to eat inside. They want you to get takeout it seems. Before coming in basically thought there would be more to it. It's a small place that's not really meant for groups or even one person. They have the counter to order at, and a menu on the wall. Has okay prices. It's about $10 for the Falafel Wrap. Add a few more bucks to make it a combo. They served it in foil without any plates. Obvious how they aren't expecting anyone to eat inside. The falafel was crispy and it was a great meal even with presentation being shitty. Other menu items include beef and chicken kebabs. The falafel is in the name of the place so it obviously is the best thing. For sure if going here again we'll get it to go. It's closed Mondays and Tuesdays. This restaurant has great food but it is basically for takeout. There is only one small table that seats 2 people and a 8' counter by the windows with four stools. There are some chairs for people to sit and wait for their order. I have come two times during the lunch hour and they turned me away because they had a large catering order. So if you want to give this restaurant a try I would recommend calling ahead of time and for takeout. We will definitely be dining here again in the future. I had heard from a friend who said that there is this Middle Eastern eatery in Hoffman Estates that is making some noise in social media about their hamburgers being so good. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall. The other restaurants are all Middle Eastern eateries in the strip mall. I walked into Falafel Hut, and it first was taken back. I thought I was in the wrong location. This place inside aesthetically looks horrendous. There is a large black tarp that separates the kitchen from the front area where you order. There's a small bell near the cash register that says ring for service. I thought the place was possibly under construction. I also thought I possibly entered from the wrong side and felt like I was in the back room. It's strange look at it hands-down. I ring the bell and this extremely friendly young lady asked how can she help me. I said I would like to try one of the hamburgers. The main menu that is on the wall has no mention of hamburgers. She then pulls out a small plastic sign that shows what you can order on a hamburger. From what my friend told me the way to go is get order a double cheeseburger with spicy gyro meat. You can then add chipotle sauce and take it from there. I ordered the way my friend suggested. The young lady asked me if I would like to make it a combo, which came with a drink and an extremely small fry. I said sure the total came to around $20. The young lady then said hold on let me see how long this is going to take. She disappeared behind the black curtain. I can hear her speaking with somebody and a voice came from the black curtain that said about 15 to 20 minutes. I sat and watched as a couple more people came in asking again for the hamburger. This was obviously turning into a popular item that they were not prepared for whatsoever. They told the people again that it would be 15 to 20 minutes. I could not see inside the kitchen, but from the voices I heard through the black curtain it seemed that there was maybe three workers total, the girl at the front who took the order, another woman who seemed to be the owner and a grill cook. I then hear my name Frank. A woman pops out from the curtain who I assume is the owner she told me she ran out of ground meat and that she needed to grind some more up. This will take another 15 to 20 minutes for her to grind the meat up. I told her it was fine, no problem. I sat and listened as phone calls started to come in, placing phone orders to get food and hamburgers. This sounded like they 100% could not handle how busy it was getting with their small staff. My 20 minute wait on top of my 20 minute wait turn into another 15 minute wait by the end of it. I finally heard my name called. It was almost an hour if not more, my hamburger was finally ready. I told the girl at the front counter before I ordered that I was going to review this location. I told her that when I do a review of a location, it gets exponentially busy people from everywhere. Come to try out what I suggest and it quadruples the business for a location, I asked her is that going to be a problem will you be able to handle it? The girl smiled and said we should be fine. I opened up my hamburger in my car to take a look at it. It was gorgeous. I took a bite, and it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were out of this world. The Gyro meat mixed with their ground meat was a perfect savory mix. The Gyro meat was tender. The creamy chipotle sauce did not overpower. It was a perfect companion to the salty meat. I will tell you this was an out of this world hamburger, but I also will tell you I don't think this was my order that I put in. The hamburger was not spicy whatsoever. I remember asking for the spicy Gyro meat. I also understood that it came with jalapeños and onions. I don't think I got that, I also ordered a double cheeseburger and I only received a single the phrase that came with it or child size I can't even call them small. I will tell you, because this is honestly one of the most unique and tasty hamburgers you'll ever try. Now there will be definitely some obstacles and give yourself some. time if you were curious to try this place out. They are very very slow. They are slow because they're lazy. They're slow because they are overwhelmed with this new found business. I also need to definitely say they need to do something with the aesthetic look of this place. It looks like a haunted house absolutely horrible if I was not suggested to try this place out one look at it from as soon as you enter the restaurant I would've walked right back out. I really do hope you all check this place out. I know a lot of my readers are pretty traditional and don't like to step out of their comfort zones but I have never steered any of you wrong. Falafil Hut sits kind of hiden in one of the many shopping plazas Golf Road in Schaumburg. It is a very small place with two small tables and a counter where you can order (but not sit at). So, if you are lucky you might find a place to sit while there, but chances are if you go to Falafil Hut you are going there for take out. The food was good. We ordered a lot - mainly their spicy chicken shwarma. They advertise that they are the place for spicy chicken shwarma. I have to admit that it was good. The pita they give you is not the typical small round - it is a large flatbread. It is also soft like you would expect, but this is not a pocket pita. The dinner comes with a small salad. And, their hummus was good, but not the best I've had in the suburbs. So, I would classify Falafil Hut as a good middle eastern take-out restaurant. The best Gyro wrap I've had in the greater chicagoland area. Went in, ordered two "Extra Spicy Gyro Wrap" and paid $6.49 for each of them. Extra sauce is 25 cents. It took them about 10-15 minutes to make it. Every bite was delicious and filled with meat. My friend and I instantly agreed it was the best gyro sandwich we've had in greater chicagoland area. Yes it was oily.... They barely have seating, two tables with two chairs each and a high table thingy against the wall with 4 barstools. A carry out place. Your typical "hole in the wall" place. This is a local hole in the wall restaurant with excellent food. Their most famous dish is the Chicken Tawwa Rice, which is a combination of shawarma meat with rice, onions, and peppers which tastes great with their garlic sauce. Overall it is a blend of Indian and Arab flavors that is guaranteed to satisfy you. Some people swear by the Beef Tawwa Rice as well, which I'm looking forward to trying next. What a great hidden gem! This place is not straight mediteranean food, it definitely has a middle eastern bent to the flavors. But holy cow! The pitas are thinner than greek ones but so tender and flavorful. The beef shwarma is well seasoned but we tried the spicy chicken shwarma and it is off the charts. They have a spicy sauce that is so great and goes well with the chicken shwarma. Their hummus is by far the creamiest I ever had. It usually has some grit to it, but this was special. The filafil are the best or at least tied for best. I usually don't care for filafil because it is not seasoned, or worse, burned. These are great. Looking forward to going back. read more

Wow... the food at Falafil Hut is delicious. You wouldn't expect it from the small interior, limited menu, and two man operation but this might be the best Middle Eastern food in the area. Everything is made to order so be prepared to wait. We ordered the chicken tawa rice (spicy), chicken kabobs, and chicken hummus. The wait was worth it because everything was flavorful and cooked well. Surprisingly, even the chicken kabobs were tender and juicy. The meat in each dish was seasoned well and not dry at all. I always love it when I discover that places extremely close to my apt. have awesome food. Falafil Hut, tucked into and almost hidden in a strip mall in Hoffman, does not disappoint in the least. I drove by this place daily for a solid couple of months when I moved here without noticing it. It's strange, but so many of the businesses in Hoffman almost appear like they are trying to hide from consumers. This stands in stark contrast to down the street in Schaumburg where where merchants are about as obnoxious with their marketing as a whorehouse in Tijuana. I have payed this joint a visit a good dozen times since first checking it out. Considering how into restaurants that I am, if I have been anywhere more than 5-6 times in such a short time period, I would say it is safe to assume that the food is on point. The menu here is simple and short, but all you really need to be mindful of if you have never visited before is the Chicken Shwarma. Order it in wrap or salad form and dig in, as your taste buds are in for a treat. The portion sizes are large here, but I'll bet you polish off the whole thing anyway as it is simply delicious.The meat is super tender and seasoned with what must be crack considering how addictive it is. You should drizzle some of the garlic sauce on it to give it that dynamite flavor contrast. This also cuts out some of the heat if you opt for the "extra spicy" version, which is my personal preference. Is it hot? Absolutely, but it is not melt your face off hot. I would keep a cold beverage nearby, but fans of extremely spicy food will find it to be mere child's play on the Scoville scale. I have tried several other items on the menu here (the lamb is a solid choice) but I always manage to gravitate back towards the Chicken. The hummus several of my coworkers are huge fans of, but to me it is just average. Though suffice to say that I am much of a fan of hummus just in general, so take that with a grain of salt. I did post a picture of the menu to check out since there is not one listed online. On most of my visits, both the fluffy pita itself and the vegetables have been extremely fresh on the wraps. Now granted that the chicken is so good that you could dip it in motor oil and I would probably still eat it, but it's nice that all the bases are covered. Pricing is cheap, with the wraps setting you back between 4 and 8 bucks. The staff here has always been very personable and helpful on my visits, especially when the owner is in the house. This guy obviously has a passion for the food he serves, which likely explains why it is so well made. Any good independent restauranteur out there is 70% foodie and 30% businessman. The owner loves to chat if it's not busy, and I have heard the tale of how his restaurant came to be on a couple of occasions. The YouTube food show "Sameer's Eats" has done an episode on Falafil Hut, which I am sure you can find with a simple Google search if you are interested. If you plan to stop in here on your lunch break, I highly recommend you call in your order in advance. Service can slow down to a snails pace during the weekday lunch rush, so plan accordingly. I would also plan on taking your food to go on since there are few places to actually sit. Since I just live right down the street this is not a huge concern for me, but to others looking to have the food piping hot, take your lunch break early as possible so you can score a table. There has been some instances of inconsistency when I have dined here, which prevents this place from 5 star billing in my book. Not surprisingly, these have always directly corresponded to times when the owner is not in the building. Overall, this is a great option for casual Middle Eastern grub. The prices are decent, the service is normally on point, and the Chicken Shwarma is to die for. Om nom nom. read more
