Book a true hotel that can help make your stay comfortable. I booked a smaller room directly through the Marriott website for a 3-night stay. Knowing the room type, I specifically called ahead to confirm we would receive daily housekeeping. The representative assured me we would get what they called a "daily tidy" service. After the first day, we returned to an untouched room. When I called the front desk on July 17, 2026, I was told they only offer every-other-day service and that the "daily tidy" description was "misleading" (their words). They clarified it was simply a limited clean every other day. At that point, it was too late to change anything, so we made do. The next day we returned around 3pm hoping to nap and shower before evening plans. The room was exactly as we had left it. At the front desk, staff explained they have until 4pm to service rooms and prioritize checkouts over stayovers. While I understand operational realities, I was surprised and frustrated that nothing had been done by mid-afternoon. The same associate I had spoken with the day before rolled her eyes at me, which only added to the poor experience. No one seemed to view this as an issue worth addressing. I asked if they could at least bring fresh towels to the door so we wouldn't have to vacate the room. Shortly after returning, we received multiple phone calls from the front desk and a housekeeper knocking--disrupting our attempt to rest. When the housekeeper arrived, she only had one towel initially. She later returned with towels but no hand towels or washcloths. By then it was too late for any meaningful tidy. The room also had a persistent musty smell, likely made worse by damp bath and beach towels hanging to dry. As non-timeshare guests, we expected standard Marriott service levels rather than reduced attention. Over the past few years I've been shifting more toward Hilton properties, which have felt more dependable and consistent. Every time I give Marriott another chance, I end up disappointed. Kelly (her name) was trying to sign in so she could print up a receipt and she cannot sign in because she does not have a sign in number, name or whatever. She then has to proceed to call her manager who she manages to wake up from a sound sleep. It makes absolutely no sense to leave an employee alone and not give her the tools to do a good job. She was embarrassed that it took her so long to do something simple. Anyway, Kelly carried my bags upstairs which was very much appreciated. We were at one end of the hallway and I took my ice bucket and came and off I went. I kept seeing the vending sign with the arrow. I finally get to the end and there is another vending sign with an arrow pointing down the stairs. Wow was I . Kelly asked if there was a problem, I explained what happened and she promptly came upstairs and got my ice bucket and she brought me ice. Had it not been for Kelly we would have left. The final straw was wanting to take a shower and I couldn't because I couldn't step over the tub. These problems are the reasons I only gave it 2 stars. Not a place for those getting away and having a fun weekend. Nowhere that I could find on their website was their list of rules unless they are buried deep. We rented two cabins for our group and I'll start with the condition. Our cabin had a wasp nest upstairs and we killed several. The air conditioners, while fairly new, are inadequate to keep the cabins cool. The other cabin had no hot water. Stairs leading up the porch are bad. Now for the rules, we managed to break them all. 1. No pets. I agree not a place for them however you better hope a stray doesn't show up or you will be blamed for having them. We were and we had none. 2.Quiet time between 10 pm and 8 am. This means you better be inside your cabin at 10 and not on the porch or at a picnic table talking. We broke this one because we were enjoying the evening and conversation with friends. We weren't loud and you couldn't hear anyone outside anyway because of the noise of the ac. 3.No driving on the grass, granted we did break this one but we went down a gravel road then followed the tree line to get to the river across the field. In our defense there was already a car there when we arrived so thought it was ok. 4. No excessive drinking. What is their definition of excessive? We were called on this one because we had a couple of beer boxes sitting on the porch after we left to canoe the river for the day. 5. This one grosses me out. We had to remake the beds EXACTLY as we found them. Makes me wonder if they change the sheets between guests. Yep, we broke this one because we stripped the sheets then put the comforter back in place. Our group will not be back, after being told all of the above we felt like little kids being reprimanded.
