Strawberry Matcha
Julissa M.

The place is a vibe. BUT the matcha is not great. 1/10. Tasted like strawberry nesquik milk. Which is good. But that's not what I ordered.. The aesthetic is amazing & the girlies who take your order are sweet but the flavor/taste is not there.

Nice little coffee shop, we tried them at their last location but I think there wasn't enough foot traffic. Seating is ok, not the most comfortable for being a coffee shop and chilling. But the atmosphere is very appealing. Lots of plants , neon sign. Very cool. Very noisy and packed. but we came on a Sunday so probably a tad more busy. We waited for over 30 mins, asked about our drinks and gal said someone must have taken them. Hmm, we were both up front and never heard our name , so maybe didn't make em? So not sure, but needless to say it took a while to get drinks. We also got pizza bagel since they were pretty much out of a lot of there bagels and other baked goods. But another 15 mins before we got our drinks So very disappointed with their service or how they handle things when they are busy. My chai latte was amazing. I ask for oat milk due to allergies to milk and it's very good and rich, great for a latte. We also got pizza bagels, my less favorite so far. A lot of sausage and meat on top , not what I was expecting I guess I should have gotten the no meat but didn't know they had it till after. Overall, I like poppy Coffey atmosphere, there neon sign, the plants, it's nice, the chairs not so much. Just felt flimsy thin, cheap and I felt like it was gonna collapse. lol. I'm a big framed guy. Wife says beefcake but I won't argue with cute comments or nicknames. lol. Hope my review helps. It's worth trying in my eyes, but try not to visit them on a weekend due to crowd and time frames.

Burnt the bagel and smothered it in creame cheese to pretend it didnt happen?

I dont know how this is possible to even think it was cool to serve this AFTER burning it . I work at a business on the same street and its just a complete hit or miss , and i usually tell clients to give it a shot but this is crazy.

I was so happy to hear that Poppy coffee was opening on miracle Mile and I finally had the chance to work there a few weeks ago. The space itself is gorgeous, tons of natural light and plenty of seating on both the first and second floors. It definitely has the potential to be a great spot to get work done and have coffee dates with friends. The staff wasn't anything special to comment on, but the biggest disappointment was the iced pumpkin Matcha...EWWWWW. It was honestly pretty nasty and definitely not something I'd order again. I'm open to coming back and trying another drink, but their Matcha is not it. One thing that threw me off was the amount of flies inside, they just wouldn't leave, which made it hard to focus. Also, because of all the natural lighting, it could get hot and muggy in the space. It probably won't be too bad in the winter, but I could see it becoming an issue during summer. Overall, I feel like poppy coffee is a great coffee shop to work at aesthetics wise if you don't mind having subpar drinks. (If anyone has any recommendations for good drinks to try here, let me know!!)

Scone, Iced Tea, Chocolate Chip Cookie

I haven't been to Poppy Coffee since they were at their old location (more north on Pacific), so I'm glad I was able to visit their new space. The space is definitely an upgrade from their last one with high ceilings and endless sunlight through the big windows. I used to love their espresso brownies, so I was a bit disheartened not to see them on display (still on the menu I think, just not that day). The chocolate chip cookie I got was pretty good (it's on the flatter side, if you like your cookies more hefty). The iced tea was refreshing but I don't think I'd get it again. Scone was tasty too. Plenty of seats to choose from when coming to study or get some work done. That's probably the only reason I'd come back, but I'll be sure to order a coffee next time to see if it's still worth it.

4.5 Food & drinks were delicious. Heard lots of good things about this place and decided to try it out while in town. They did not lie. I loved the waffle. It wasn't your typical kind of waffle. It had a good sweetness to it & so fluffy. My daughter loved the sandwich. Surprisingly she ate a lot with my sister. Drinks were good. Only giving it a 4.5 because they didn't have decaf option as I am pregnant & only drink decaf for now.

Bagel with Lox

Love the vibe here, they have upstairs seating as well. Music can be loud. They have breakfast and lunch food options. They offer coffee, decaf, and other beverages. Their seasonal coffee/specialty coffee options are good as well. I was asked to leave by 5pm when the business hours show they open until 8pm that day. There was a private event notice at the door that I didn't see, so be mindful of their updated hours/notice.

Banana latte & Vanilla latte

Cute and quiet coffee shop! Coffee its self was not it. I ordered a small strawberry smoothie, a M banana latte, M Vanilla latte, and a pizza bagel ($33). Only thing that was good was the smoothie. Both coffee drinks lacked flavor it was more like water down milk , ice and splash of espresso as for taste. Pizza bagel was not a whole bagel just a half slice of a whole bagel. Just got to Starbucks or Dutch down the street tbh.

Service was great, pretty laid back atmosphere. I'm glad they took over this place, it's great for the neighborhood!

Pros: -Cappuccino was nice and foamy -Service was fast (the place wasn't crowded when I went) -There's a-lot of seating on both the 1st and 2nd floor -Comfy couches -Great view of Miracle Mile through the giant windows on the 1st floor Cons: -The espresso shot was too acidic for my taste. It was like having a shot of alcohol. -The place is too noisy for relaxing imo. Would prefer no music. Also, the place needs some sound proofing. Theres too much noise bouncing around especially on the second floor. -$4 for a shot of espresso is a bit pricey -Upstairs isn't warm. Bring a hoodie or jacket. -Dusty ceiling fans were a bit off putting Notes: -The place looks nice, but its missing charm.

Strawberry Lemonade

So I've reviewed poppy coffee before, but that was before they moved to their new location. We recently visited it since we're big fans. The new spot is awesome, more space, even an upstairs to relax in. Everyone inside was working hard, whether it was making drinks or bringing out food. Place is beautiful, ambience is relaxing with the couches. I had a strawberry lemonade and OMG!!!!! It must be the ice lol, sooooo refreshing. For lunch we had the OG, with an everything bagel. Just like before, the food is on point. Reasonable pricing, fast service, great food in a clean spot. Can't ask for more...100% recommend.

The new location is very clean and quiet. A lot of space to sit down and enjoy your food and drink. The customer service was great. I thought the food was average. I don't know if I would go there again for that specifically, but if I was hungry, I'd order it again.

The spaghetti sauce was good both were missing something flavor wise but still very good. Now the spaghetti alfredo on the other hand was outstanding. I swear it was some of the best Alfredo sauce I've had. I'm not expert by any means but in my opinion this Alfredo sauce was top tier. Garlicky just salty enough, thick and packed with flavor. The chicken parm was very good too. Flavorful and crisp. I would order this every time! Both worth a try but the Alfredo is a must order every time

Highly recommend you give this place a try if you're in the area. - Santa Maria: mushrooms and onions with tri tip This sandwich is so juicy, flavorful, and melt in your mouth. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS! - Ike's classic: tri tip with lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. They forgot the "Fork It" sauce so it was a little bland and dry. Pretty upscale market with a nice deli and bakery for this area. I'd say real close to Whole Foods…read morequality and the prices match. But this local indy store has been around in this town for over 55 years, so it is well deserved for them to be a local fave. I only got a sandwich for the road and a bakery item, so no significant grocery shopping. I was traveling back home and didn't have a cooler so I refrained. But next time if I have a cooler, their meat counter will get exercised. Got a Salami Sandwich ($11/4*) from their deli and it was pretty solid. Every sandwich is customized, so every customer fills out a card, checks off your preferences and hand it over to a deli clerk. Nothing out of the ordinary here, just your basic sandwich stuff, but with quality and fresh ingredients. I liked everything in my sandwich, was even to put alfalfa sprouts in it, as I haven't had that option in over a decade. I wished there would have been an option to add oil n vinegar to make it more 'Italian' tasting, so I had to settle on just mayo and mustard, which is more classic American tasting to me. Still a solid sandwich that I was able to eat in 2 intervals so a decent value in my book. Coffee Crunch Cake ($7/3.5*) Very impressive tall cake with a very moist crumb. A little too industrial tasting for me but better than other grocery cakes like Safeway, which taste like plastic to me, so many additives and stabilizers. Cake part had a light chocolate taste, but maybe it was supposed to be more coffee-like? I couldn't taste any coffee except for this super hard and sweet candy on top used for garnish. Indeed that candy offered a 'crunch' element but in a very cloying and awkward way. Sure it was nice and glossy and even resembled shiny coarse stone like obsidian. But to take a bite that big of hard candy to go along a delicate cake was just too extreme for me. I think if that candy were in smaller chunks, more like a crumb texture, it would disperse more sending coffee flavor more evenly and not risk breaking a tooth on that hard sweet candy. I had higher hopes for this. Gawked at their butchers counter and it was pretty darn impressive, Pretty high quality stuff but also insanely expensive. Steaks start at $20 per pound and easily rises double to triple from there. But they got some serious cut steaks here, like 2-3 inch thick cuts and they even have a couple versions of wagyu steaks. Nothing is prewrapped, everything has to go through a clerk. Produce section just meh and regular. Well kept but Safeway may have a more extensive produce section. Dry goods definitely Whole Foods level. They seem to have a guy out front bbqing meats like sausages and tri-tip, like 7 days a week, which is impressive. I got there around 11 am and the employee was just setting up. Otherwise I may have tried something. Cool store, that if this were in my town, I'd be a reg. Since I was just a passing traveler, just call me impressed.

Coming to Podesto's Market is a treat for me. I get to indulge in treats that very from cookies to…read moreslices of cake, pies, and even hand pies, which I believe the hand pies are made in house. It has taken me some time, but I think I'm able to tell what items are made here at the store compared to items prepared elsewhere and sold here. The items that they have brought in are very good quality and taste great, I just prefer to have items that are made in-house, it satisfies my taste buds. Today I purchased "Podesto's Own" cookies. These are cookies they make in house. Today the flavours I purchased was lemon, malted white chocolate and a peppermint shortbread cookie. The price is $19.99/pound for these cookies and I bought roughly 4 to 6 of each of those flavours I mentioned, so I spent $11.51 total, but like I said, I get to indulge when I come to this store and it's no surprise to me when I get to the register. Some times I even surprise myself because I over estimate the prices which makes me happy to feel like I saved a little Today I also purchased three different kinds of cheeses that I was able to find in very small sizes. Literally, I think I paid $1.76 for the smallest one and I paid $3.12 for the bigger one. These are name brands that are expensive. (For my price range anyways) However these are cheeses that I would like to know what they taste like but I don't want to buy the full amount because what if I don't like it, they're too expensive for me to buy and then have to throw away so I'm excited to try the cheeses that I bought today. The last thing that I bought today was a green onion dip mix that I can only find at this store. I used to be able to find it at another store that is close by but for some reason, they stopped selling the green onion flavour and only sell the French onion, which I haven't even tried. I just know that the green onion is amazing and it doesn't matter what brand I try nothing compares to this one so I come to Podesto's to get this dip because thankfully they have carried it for years. It was really busy today, especially in the bakery and deli area, however, the people working today in that area were very friendly and tried to get to everyone as soon as possible. Once I got to the cashier everything went smooth. The long lines were gone and I got out of there without spending more than $40 today which is great. Oh, I forgot about something. I came across a fruit preserve that I did not think would be available at any store because I've only been able to find this online but it tastes amazing and it's low in sugar, which is what I'm always looking for as well. (Let's pretend like I didn't buy all those cookies today please...) Anyways, it's Fior di frutta, wild blueberries. I'm very excited for this. Now I know where to purchase this. I hope you have a successful shopping trip as I have today at Podesto's. There's so much to stumble upon and excite your taste buds!
