We chose the brisket (4.5 stars), smoked ribs (4.5 stars), pulled pork (5 stars), smoked chicken (4.5 stars), and jalapeno-cheddar sausage (5 stars). The other meat was burnt ends, and we could have added it for an extra $6. Sauces included a dark, sweet "Pappy" sauce and an orange, mustardy "Mimi" sauce, both of which I liked. For sides we chose the mac n cheese (4, cheese could be thicker), smoked BBQ beans (tangy, 5 stars), cheesy bacon hash browns (4.5 stars), and cornbread (5 stars). For being a totally vegan option, it was hard to differentiate between this and non-vegan poutine. The gravy was flavorful, fries were crispy, and the, I think tofu, curds were perfectly squishy. The truck is a non-profit that proudly displays that the prices are just suggestions. If someone is unable to pay the full price, you are able to pay what you can. I love the fact that that it engages the community and ensures that no-one goes hungry. I hope to try the curry fries next time I see the truck around.
