I've been bringing my Rialta to this shop since 2024. At first, I was satisfied, but began looking for other shops for repair because of the lack of communication and drop off was taking up to 45 minutes or longer due to having to wait until the service manager arrived to give me the estimate even though I had an appointment. The service person changed recently and I have been super happy with the communication and service this last repair. Drop off was a breeze and the new service manager, Nick, was in constant contact with me (this wasn't the case prior). I added repairs onto original estimate and there were no delays. As you can see, this business has numerous complaints against them already, here and at the Better Business Bureau. I'm not surprised. I was GOUGED ON S/H FEES and experienced utter dishonesty and gaslighting from them, especially a woman named Mary at the company, along with poor customer service in terms of getting back to me in a timely way. They quoted me an improper shipping fee and did not disclose the handling fee, which was about 3x as much as the shipping cost. I discovered the actual shipping cost by giving the package to my local postmaster who told me how much it actually costed. When I told them about it, they refused to reimburse me for the incorrect shipping fee and the hidden handling fees and instead try to blame me, which is ridiculous, since it's all in writing between us. BUYER BEWARE OF INACCURATE SHIPPING FEES AND HIDDEN HANDLING FEES IF YOU DECIDE TO DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. Update: Notice the owner's belligerent and threatening response. I did not disrespect anyone there, quite the opposite. Bottom line: I was lied to about the shipping cost and was never divulged the exorbitant handling fee, only after the sale. And no, it's not Yelp's fault you do shady business. Failing to take responsibility and blaming others (even Yelp) is probably why you have so many bad reviews, as you refuse to acknowledge your faults and do the right thing. see my previous review--this is an update. Finally got my vehicle back from a warranty repair on april 28. They had it for 5 MONTHS. when I picked it up, the generator wouldnt start. they tried to tell me to 'bring it back monday'. How about....no? After some phone calls and fiddling, the mechanic on site did get it running. my guess is they never ran it (a generator should be run under load once a month or so to keep everything from getting varnished up) while it sat for months in their care. Happy to have my baby back, and so far so good on the three trips ive taken since then, except minor things that I am willing to fix myself, despite this being sold as a 'fully reconditioned' vehicle. (one cabinet came disconnected from the ceiling-- the wood that the ceiling bracket screwed onto had disintegrated, and the plastic track mount for one of the drawers is broken. nbd, but these small things should have been found and repaired during the many months it took for the initial rehab, their exaggerated claims of 'thouroughness', and the amount I paid for the vehicle. I paid more and bought from them, instead of a private party, to avoid the tinkering that comes with a vehicle of this age. so much for that. I am happy with it, but could have paid about 10-15k less from a private seller and dealt with most likely a similar amount of trouble. read more

I'd love to respond to this piece by piece, but Yelp has a text limit for updates so I can only post my response and am not able to parse it out. I posted photos but expect that they will be taken down. My general response is that It seems that despite the email exchanges we had you BELIEVE I never contacted you. That's just not factual. Neither is your claim that you: "...can confidently say we perform inspection and repairs above and beyond any other dealers do. Believe us...we've purchased many Campers from dealers that were advertised as "ready to go" that required thousands of dollars of repairs. In other words, we far exceed the requirements for Certified status, but here are the minimum requirements." This was exactly my experience: buying something that was supposed to be "ready to go" but instead had me stopping to do repairs or find a mechanic every week. I know plenty of people in industries who get the most obnoxious and outrageous Yelp reviews for things the business owner has no control over. That's why I rarely use this platform. I came to it in this case because you left me no recourse and I felt that if I could help even one person to avoid this situation it would be worth it. You've shown your true colors with the language you use in your response and your never ending sarcasm. If you want to respond to me you have my email. You could have done that when the first review came in. All I ever wanted was a response back in October/November when things went wrong and perhaps an explanation if not an apology. read more

I recently got a 2003 Eurovan weekender. It came out incredibly well. New paint, new canvas, new this, new that. They cleaned it up and so far runs great. Really appreciate the fine work they did during Covid. Well worth the wait. Seemed simple enough to replace until I found out that the original one had been replaced by a new/improved one. Recently Pop Top Heaven sold our 2002 full Eurovan camper on consignment for us. This was our 8th VW camper (we purchased the '02 from PTH 10 yrs ago with only 3000 miles on it). Sales manager Mary Burke and co-owner Chris Nelson through the years always made themselves available despite sometimes overwhelming national demand and keeping up with an ever changing inventory. They've always been there to give advice on misc repairs and parts. Their mechanics, notably Jeff, have forgotten more than most know about these vehicles. As years go by there are less and less qualified mechanics to service and restore these vehicles. PTH is a very unique successful organization founded by Kyle. Worst experience ever. So disappointed!! We have owned a Rialta for a few years and live in St. Louis, MO. We heard about this place a few years ago and have been dreaming of visiting ever since. We finally made it out to California and are so extremely disappointed!! Their signs states appointments and walk-ons are welcome until 4pm... Yet when we arrived at 2:30, we were promptly ignored for over an hour. Still, we tried to make the best of the situation as a few people were there ahead of us and being helped. We looked around and made a list of questions, accessories we were interested in purchasing, and models we would like to look at as our Rialta is nearing the end of its life. Finally, after trying to check in to the office a few times with not so much as acknowledgement... We managed to get the sales associate's attention after all other customers had left but only after he finished checking his emails. He then rudely and sarcastically informed us that they only see people by appointment (not as walk-ons as their sign and website suggested). We shrugged off his apparent disdain and awful attitude and began asking about the accessories we were interested in as well as a couple of services. He was not at all helpful and basically told us they do not do service of any kind on any Rialtas except their own stock to be sold. In short, I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. Their prices are much higher than the actual value (we hunted a long time before purchasing ours from a different company). Their customer service is the absolute worst we've encountered in a long time. And their blatant refusal to offer any form of service/repair/accessory to their direct customers... Rialta Heaven is also known as PopTop Heaven is a great place for anyone that is looking for a smaller camper vehicle. My husband found this place when I was running a marathon in Big Sur. There was a van parked in the campground that has a sticker of PopTop Heaven so he saved it and went online later on. He contacted the site by email and Mary answered his questions and soon after that, we went to visit the place. We got there and look around. They are a small family owned business that they'll only help you if you have an appt. David (Sales) was with a customer at that time, that he wasn't able to help us. But there were the Spit Shine employees that are working there, Dylan was able to answer all of our questions and even give us more tip, he was very helpful. Dylan and Corey and other employees from Spit Shine were able to answer our questions and showed us different awning that is available for the van. We got to see different years of EuroVan. We looked at Rialta and Eurovan camper. They were all very knowledgeable and were not pressure at all. Even without an appt, we were there for over a couple of hours. We went back again a few weeks later with an appt and David showed us different van and later on test drove a couple of them. David never once pressured us into purchase and continued to answer questions that my husband continued asking. Within a week later, we finally made an offer on a camper van that was accepted and we finally picked up our van and it was as clean as a new vehicle. The staff and Spit Shine really took their time to make sure everything works and to make sure it looks great. Our van fits perfectly in our garage and we have nothing but good thing to say about this place. We would totally recommend this place to anyone who's interested in a Eurovan. We made an appointment to visit and met with Mary who was happy to stay after hours to answer our questions. She was patient in our test driving a few vans and thorough in giving us a great understanding of a Eurovan Camper. During our van's "renewing" process Mary kept us up to date on the progress and answered a few of our questions along the way. We're in South Carolina and had the van shipped to us. It arrived on schedule and in good condition. There were a few minor issues to correct and that's when Chris and his crew stepped in making things right from 3,000 miles away! Fabulous pre-sales experience: the complete opposite of Katie L's... but I did my homework and made an appointment well in advance. As a result, the good folks at Rialta / Pop Top Heaven were waiting for us when we arrived, despite the fact that we were late due to traffic. And they were wonderful: Mary was our guide and we couldn't have asked for anyone more approachable or knowledgeable. She had informed and sensible answers to ALL of my questions -- and I'm one of those guys with a LOT of questions. There was absolutely no sales pressure and (even though I made it clear we wouldn't be buying for some time) we got all the time & attention we needed. Based on the way Mary spoke about her customers, I'm confident that doesn't stop once a purchase is made... It was great to be able to see all of the different models collected in one spot, as well as an array of customizations. Price-wise: because I'd done my homework, and because we're looking for a high-quality, trouble-free unit, it was no surprise to me that there's a premium to be paid for complete refurbishment. (Yet still far below the cost of a new unit). In the case of the Rialta, we're talking about vehicles that are at least 10 years old and have been used as someone else's living space. We're planning to have great family adventures and make many wonderful memories with our future RV: I don't believe that's something you e.g. buy cheap off of Craigslist or a used car lot. We Love Pop Top Heaven (& Rialta Heaven) Bought our Rialta here. The experience was fantastic. Very friendly, helpful & extremely patient. Showing us all the features of each model, pros & cons etc. We bring our Rialta back for regular maintenance when we can. They are much more cost friendly than the dealers or VW repair facilities. Oil changes run about half what the do at lube shops. We can't say enough good stuff about Pop Top Heaven. Wish there were more of them across the country! read more

I am a single lady and decided to retire and travel the US for a short time. I hoped to find a new place to relocate that was smaller, less stressful and more affordable than LA. I purchased my 2004 Rialta in 2015 and have been living in it full time ever since. I have visited 34 states and Canada putting on over 80,000 miles and I'm still looking for that special place. I have had the usual issues with the RV but I have to say that the stress level of dealing with them has been significantly lessened due to the service and support of the people at Rialta Heaven. We all know that we can be taken advantage of be mechanics, especially single women, so it is comfortable to have a resource to turn to for information and service. Christopher and his staff have always come through for me when problems occurred including, refrigerator issues, bearing failure, locks and lockouts, tires, and misc. Issues. Through the summer of 2017 and into the fall we worked with Mary at PopTop Heaven to "refit" our restored 2002 Rialta to our personal specifications. We were working on a tight schedule and the PopTop team came through for us and had the Rialta delivered to us mid way in Las Vegas so we could make our family plans. Here is the law of "unintended consequences". . . . we bought a 15 year old vehicle with 24,000 miles. The good news is that there were low miles. The bad news was that the vehicle hadn't really been driven very much in 15 years. As we drove our first 10,000 miles we had to work some of the bugs out of the Rialta (some big, some small). The crew at PopTop Heaven always stepped up when we had a problem or a question. Chris, Jeff, Angel,Will and Mary et al all, at one time or another, helped us figure out how to repair any broken part or teach us where we were messing up. Our philosophy is that we bought a "old" restored Rialta that has served us well as we have traveled from the west coast to the gulf coast to the east coast and back again. We had de bugging problems because it is an old "restored" Rialta. We figure problems are part of the adventure (I think that comes from too much boating). The PopTop Crew made it as safe as possible for delivery. I would suggest a Service Warranty because. . . . it's an old "restored" Rialta. read more

I got off to a slow start with these guys but they came through for me. We had a few issues to work though as far as timing of when my Rialta would be ready but once it was done it was in perfect condition, like new, and they made it clear to me that my business was important to them. OK, We are done!!!!!!!! 2 years, only 18,000 miles, 21 repairs including: (2 new batteries,sliding door window latch, rubber gasket for pop top, review mirror, arm rest, windshield washer hose rotted, canister for evap system, purge valve, new alternator, serpentine belt, latch to hold top down,.........) costing us $2850.00 , countless hours of my time at the mechanics and now I need a new transmission!!!!!! Oh yes, I agree with Greg that they were so nice and helpful when I walked onto the lot but since delivery of the vehicle here in Tucson, I have had many, many, many, did I say many??? PROBLEMS. I spend more time fixing things that should have been done for my $33,000.00 than I do "enjoying the journey". Just as a prime example: After having our Eurovan for not more than 3,000 miles I was warned by discount tire not to dive the vehicle even 30 miles on the highway as all the tires were totally worn. Then to find out the spare tire was the 'origional' tire that came with the Van in 2001! (spare tires are recommended to be replaced every 6 years maximum, especially here in the Southwest dry heat). How could that be an oversight? Whatever Pop Top Heaven thinks the word 'refurbish' means, it is a far cry from where I thought my $33,000 would get me. Both Chris and Mary made me promises of returning phone calls or helping me 'get back on the road again', and I would not hear from them until I bugged them over and over. Mary never did get back to me but Chris would text kind words of sympathy. So now, after having to put in a new transmission, another $3600.00, I find out the vehicle had been in an accident and the bondo and paint are cracking and showing thru. Just another $650.00!!!! What's next? How do I enjoy my journey now thinking every time something else will go wrong? It goes without saying, 'We do not recommend buying a vehicle from 'Pop Top Heaven'. We purchased a "totally restored" Rialta from Pop Top for close to$40,000. When it arrived on a trailer, there were numerous cracks in the bumper and trim. Pop Top said they used the "best stuff" on the market and that the bumper could not be replaced because there were no more available. Well, I had to drive about a thousand miles to have them re-repair the bumper (and lots of other stuff that was wrong-much of which they refused to repair such as the fridge). The bumper cracked again on the way home. Although they give a warrantee, they refused to pay fully for the repair and then said "and we are done" even though there was still waranatee time/miles remaining. We later purchased one of the "not available" bumpers from WinnebegoParts.com. Hmm. We also had to replace the fridge for over $1,000. Oh yes, we found out the vehicle had been in two prior accidents (not disclosed) which was most likely where the numerous areas of body damage came from. Oh, the roof leaked, the water pump did not work. They state on their website that they replace tires that are over 5 years old. Ours looked new but had to be replaced as the sidewalls were deterioated (they were surplus tires that were over 7 years old (so much for the statement on their website). The shocks had to be replaced and the tranny cooler (aftermarket junk) was located under the vehicle which did not give suficient ariflow- guess what- the tranny blew from lack of cooling. The carpet they replaced was rough cut with no seamed or stitched edge and immediately started unraaveling-they state that the vehicles go through numerous checks Esentially, once they had our money they wanted nothing more to do with us. They have caller ID and finally answered after I kept calling. Kris, the owner then said for me not to call again (during the time we still had a written warantee from him). read more

We recently received our Rialta FD from Pop Top Heaven and we love it, and in their own words, "We are happy campers!" I thought I would share our experience so some of you who might be considering a Rialta from them might benefit. For you that are bottom line readers and do not want to go through what I write, I will summarize for you. Would we buy from them again? Absolutely! Would we do something differently? Yes and I will explain. Would I recommend them to others? Absolutely with some recommendations from our experiences. Our contact with Pop Top Heaven was Mary. She did everything for us. I never met someone who was so knowledgeable of her product. I am sure she had a great team behind her. First of all this is our sixth RV; two of which we refurbished on our own and one of them was a Rialta HD. We found that the twin bed, FD model works best for us. We contacted Pop Top Heaven in July 2017 because they advertised they had an FD in stock. There was a delay in about six weeks in finalizing the purchase because we were moving money around. At no time did they ask for a deposit or pressure us in hurrying up and send them the money. They just set the coach aside and waited. When we finally contracted with them, we were give an Oct. 17 delivery date. Well we did not get the coach until January. The delay was partly our fault as we made some changes during the process, some their fault due to their vendors not being able to schedule us in timely manner. The biggest hold up was that the Pop Top Team was not happy with the mattresses and ordered new ones. Because they have to be specially made for, the Rialta, there were delays in materials and manufacturing. The point of this is that the Pop Top Team without our prompting saw fit to replace the mattresses. The Pop Top Team replaced the driver seat leather upholstery and when she saw that it did not match the driver side, they replaced both. We ordered a cargo box, fully expecting to pay full price. During the process, Mary told us she had a box that looked brand new and she offered it to us at half price. There again without prompting. Ok here is what we ordered: 1. Bilstein shocks. Well worth the price 2. The awning. Well worth the price 3. Sirius Radio. I would not do this again because they do install the radio but do not make it Sirus ready by installing receiver and antenna. I have to go to an audio shop to finish the job. 4. Cargo Box. Well worth the money. Swings away, connected to turn signals and back up lights. The extra storage makes Rialta living significantly better 5. Convection oven. They had to do extra carpentry work and they did a beautiful job. You have to ask my wife if it was worth it. She is smiling so I assume she is. 6. Led Lighting. We like it 7. Replaced carpeting with wood look linoleum. This is the third coach we have done this to. By far the quality of the work they have done is outstanding. 8. Transmission cooling system. I did not do this and after reading all the blogs, I should have done this. In fact, I am doing this tomorrow. The problem we had with miscommunication was the tires. It was our understanding that because of their age they would be replaced. The coach was delivered with the old tires. We told Mary of our understanding of the tire issue, she expressed their policy and we said we were unhappy. She said she needed to push it up to Chris, her boss. Within 48 hours, Chris drop shipped tires to us saying he wanted "Happy Campers" Finally, we had Art and his sons, deliver the coach. What a great job they did! Even removing the cargo box, storing it separately so it would not be damaged by vibration. During the entire process, there were never harsh words, with both parties willing to try to understand each other's position. Our coach is beautiful and in about two weeks, we will be off into the sunset on a six-week trip! read more

We bought a 2002 Rialta from Pop Top. It gad huge cracks in the bumper, and sides which had appeared AFTER just being delivered to us on a trailer. They had already fixed them (well sortof) a couple times. Along with blown shocks, a fridge that they said was fine because it got down to 38 when using propane, tires they had put on which violated their stated replacement criteria (their website said 5 years at that time-I have a copy). Per Les Schwab the tires were 11 years old; per the Chris Nelson (owner of Pop Top, they were 7 years old. Either way, they still violated their written policy and were deteriorated on the sides and had to be replaced. Back to the cracked bumper. They said there were none available and they were using the "best stuff on the market". It did not work and eventually it broke in half. I called Winnebago.com, they had a bumper for our 2002 Rialta which was factory and had been in stock for years. Hmm. I also got other needed parts I had been told were not available which was their stated reason for not replacing them. I filed small claims against them, won, and still have not been paid. We paid 37k (that was dumb I know) for this fully-restored vehicle and now have put in over 20k in repairs. I did clean behind the rear seats-there was toys, underwear and other crap from previous owners. Suffice to say, if you buy from them you might get lucky and get one with few issues (or not). read more

We've been long time fans of Rialtas, but having missed out on getting one when they were new, I can say that ours from RH is as like new as a 13 year old vehicle can get. Their attention to detail is amazing, and we couldn't be happier with our finished product. They have always been great to work with, and quick with help or to lend a hand with our vehicles when necessary. They're friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the vehicles they sell. We could not recommend them enough! ***To address some other negative reviewers here: they are NOT a repair shop. They work on the vehicles that they're restoring only. They tell you that up front, and I can't understand why people have posted negative reviews about that, literally just because the company is not something that they want or expect them to be! I recently went to Poptopheaven and was very disappointed. I do not understand the other reviews claiming they picked up their van right away. Here is my experience: I called them and spoke to a sales person which I told I was looking for a VW camper van. The sales person told me they had a great inventory right now and they had plenty on their lot in the price range of $40,000. So I hopped in my car a drove 100 miles to the lot and when I got their the same sales person tells me that they do not have any on their lot but only have one that is a display model and it will take around 6 to 8 weeks for them to build me one. So you never get to see the actual one you are buying. I asked the sales person questions and he could not answer a lot of the questions and even told me that some parts could be missing if they could not find it. So you might be missing parts and you do not know what other options will be in the van until after you pay for it. He even told me that they do not have a lot right now because it is the busy season which was the complete opposite he told me on the phone. In addition, when he gave me the list of the vans they could build for me the price was $60,000, $20,000 more than he told me on the phone. So basically I drove 100 miles and wasted about 5 hours of my time in California traffic to see a display model only. I was furious and would never do business with people who lie to get you on their lot. read more

Just as Katie L. said...there is no way that I was prepared for the treatment that I received. I arrived on the lot and went directly to the office. I was greeted cordially by a very nice young lady and given a little bit of information and a sales sheet of their inventory and off I went to look at the campers. About 20 minutes later, some dour looking character saw me looking at a Rialta and without a greeting simply said..."That's not for sale"...not that I had asked him. It seemed to me that I had kicked his dog by the way that he glowered at me...so...I decided to engage him in conversation. Please understand, I have been in sales for over 40 years...so I have some inkling about conversing with potential clients. He had such a negative attitude and seemed absolutely insulted that I had invaded his territory without an appointment. Just so I would understand his perspective, I asked him..."Are you the owner of Poptop Heaven?" "No, he said, I am a friend of the family." I was just flabbergasted by his arrogance and rudeness! His sales presentation was so incredibly poor that I could only think..."so this is what it's like to have more business than the company needs!" There is a saying in our business when you have more customers than you can handle...it's called F*** Y** business. Well...buddy at Pop Top Heaven...that door swings both ways! read more

PopTop does't want to address concerns publicly. There is a reason for that. Why not do it here? If you feel confident in your service, I am sure your customers would want to know about it. I could have written my review three years ago but wanted to give the company a chance to take care of the issues. I have had three separate customers of theirs email me via yelp since i posted the original review, citing similar complaints. They were supposed to send a declaration to me but it arrived late and in it, they say something totally different than they have been saying to me all along. They also won't respond to emails and certainly do not "stand by their product." Also, folks, none of the claims I made above are inaccurate. Vehicle was delivered dirty, with a dead battery, check engine light on, and about two dozen other minor issues. I had been looking around locally for several years for a Eurovan Weekender without much luck. These rigs are hard to find with decent mileage. Then I found out about Pop Top Heaven through their website. At first I thought their prices were high, but then I checked into what they actually do to the vehicles they sell.
