Found this lovely place on a trip back from skiing. It's about 5-10 minutes off of I-80. I had the turkey pesto with the green goddess salad. The menu is exciting, they have creative sandwiches, paninis, salads and soups but not so outside the norm you wouldn't eat there. And oh my goodness the popcorn selection and treats they have are scrumptious!! If I lived anywhere near, this would be my regular hangout spot. I saw a couple of friends playing cards together and eating sandwiches. They had lovely lemonades to drink as well as fountain beverages. Wow, such a great spot! Order at the counter. Super helpful and friendly staff. Delicious paninis, salads and soups! There is only one restroom, which could possibly use an update, but other than that, the restaurant is super cute, quaint and clean! Did not try any popcorn, but it smelled terrific! Plenty of customers bought bags of popcorn while we were there, so I assume it's great quality. read more

When I was I high school I always left for lunch and ate here. Fresh popcorn(that you could season yourself,) potato soup and a B.L.T.. I visited with my family recently and I was very disappointed. They no longer let you season your popcorn, the soups are bland and unsatisfying, and the prices are insane. The sandwiches don't come with chips anymore and seem as if they are skimping with the meat and other fillings you would hope to find in a sandwich. I still enjoy the bagged popcorn that they sell. Carmel is the best one to get. The only reason I have to return is if I want a extra large bag of Carmel corn. Besides that I can always buy their bags of treats at sun mart. read more

It seems appropriate, when driving through the Cornhusker state to stop at the Corn Popper. If you're willing to detour a few miles (about 7 minutes) off the beaten path to experience friendly service, tasty food and local flavor, this is a great option. The Pop Corner (formerly known as Vic's Corn Popper) is the place where many NP locals go for lunch. If you get there at noon, you may have to stand in line, but the wait doesn't ever seem too long. While they do have a shorter menu (soup and simple sandwiches), they have daily, homemade soup specials which seem to always include gluten-free options. They also have inexpensive grilled cheese sandwiches for the kiddos. If you're on a road trip and don't have time to stop for a full meal, it is worth dropping in to grab a bag of popcorn (our favorite is the "Party Mix" which includes caramel, cheese and plain popcorn), or indulge your sweet tooth on a homemade scotcheroo (think rice krispy treats on steroids -- covered with a chocolate and butterscotch topping). This is our favorite place to have lunch in North Platte! The menu changes frequently and the sandwiches and soups are very good! They have a nice variety of desserts like homemade cookies, brownies, bread pudding, etc and a huge variety of popcorn treats. The service is excellent. read more
