we are from california and have plenty of authentic chinese food to choose from. finding lisas in the middle of nebraska was a surprise. but we can confidently say this meets or beats any of the restaurants back home- literally our fav meal from the whole cross country trip. everything was made from scratch (took 30min to prep) and i havent had flavors like this since i was in china. she takes great care in bringing the best quality ingredients sourced from her garden and there was so much diversity in vegetables (we got the black pepper chicken and szechuan beef). thank you so much for this amazing home cooked meal!!! if this was in san francisco and in a fancy building, she would have lines out the door. if you are traveling this is a must stop. if you live in the area, consider yourself very lucky!! ---- ps saw the one star review- this looks like a hit job. no one in their right mind could say the food wasnt fresh and authentic. i watched her cook it while we waited and taste flavors like tamarind and cinnamon that you only get in these dishes from someone who grew up in china/hk cooking. sounds like those complaining about the food are used to that fake sugary "chinese food" at panda express. what a joke read more

What are you people smoking? We stopped at this place based on the rave reviews and hoped to get some dinner before another four hours on the road to Omaha. Had I known, I would have waited the four hours. First of all. Lisa is very nice. That's pretty much the only star I've got. The building is very interesting, but the inside was reminiscent of my grandmother's home after she lost her mind to dementia. The sad part is, I am not even remotely joking. The food is absolutely NOT FRESH!? How could you even conceivably draw that belief, even if she told you herself? First of all, I read some recent reviews saying her vegetables are grown in her own garden.... it's almost November. And even if she freezes her vegetables, I still wouldn't believe it. I'm almost positive that the food we were served came out of her refrigerator and went straight into the microwave for 7 minutes. The rice was petrified. The vegetables were mush. Everything was smothered in some tasteless sauce. It was disgusting. I can't believe I paid $26 to eat at this place and now am wondering if I should find some preventative aid to avoid food poisoning. Never again, Nebraska. Never again. read more

We ordered: Crab Rangoon - Super crispy with a perfectly creamy and savory center. Pan fried dumplings - crispy on the bottom, tender inside with perfectly seasoned pork. Chicken Pad Thai with spicy peanut sauce (customized to medium heat): This dish was insanely delicious. The chicken was tender and the veggies were super fresh. My husband typically does not like Pad Thai and he enjoyed it. Szechwan Beef (customized to medium heat): Wow! Yes, it was still spicy, but in a good way. The veggies were still crisp and the beef melted in your mouth. Lisa is a perfect host, server, and chef. What a special place! read more

My wife and I were traveling through Nebraska and it was time to find something to eat. We try to find restaurants that are local and serve a wide variety of vegan or vegetarian options. We ran across this restaurant on Yelp and decided to try it. It is about 1 mile from 80 and is a neat geodome structure with gardens and flowers surrounding the restaurant. It was great to hear when the owner said the broccoli, cauliflower and bok choy came out of her gardens. It was well worth the trip, talk about farm to table. The food was great, fresh and hot, the owner was very kind to modify one of the dishes for my wife to make it vegan. Worth a try if you are in the area. read more

I stopped here with my bf and friend on the way to Colorado. It was New Years Day morning and we were the only ones here. The place is a cute little igloo shaped building. There is limited seating inside but its pretty charming. They appear to serve Chinese food but we had the classic American breakfast. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and they were fantastic. I was so excited when I took the first bite. My bf ordered the waffles and my friend ordered the breakfast burrito and he was really happy about it. The waitress, I assume Lisa, was the only person working there and she took good care of us. The heat apparently went out the night before so she had 2 space heaters running for us. We are driving through on the interstate and found Lisa's about 2 minutes off of the freeway. It is an awesome little geodesic dome building surrounded by a beautiful, bountiful flower garden. Going in with a normal appetite, we shared a veggie omelette (7.99$). It came with white Texas style toast and greasy crispy hash browns. It was a very good portion size for us to share. Of course we could have each had our own omelette but we are glad we didn't! Perfect fullness factor. The omelette was a deep yellow color, owing to farm fresh eggs. The veggies (peppers, zucchini, broccoli, tomato, onion) were delicious. The coffee is reported as so-so/ borderline 'bad.' As others have noted, it seems to be a one-woman show. We waited almost 45 minutes for the food., which is why it's dropped to 4 stars. Bottom line: if you're looking for a quick in and out, maybe this isn't the best choice. But- I'd challenge you to find a fresher, taster omelette elsewhere! read more

This little cottage is a total Gem, Lisa has been in this little town for as long as I have been alive. It's a typical mama and papa restaurant, it's very nice overall and the owner Lisa is very friendly too. The only thing is you have to wait a little bit longer for your food, cause there's only one person working in there, and that's Lisa, she's the chef and waitress. Lisa's food was really delicious. My wife had pork with vegetables and I had the pad thai. Both items had very large servings of perfectly cooked veggies and meat in a delicious sauce....much more flavorful than the typical asian meals we've had. I highly recommend this place. Came in to this place to dine. Walked in, wasn't greeted, sat ourselves down, waited around as other customers just stared at us. We were concerned we walked into a persons HOUSE because we didn't feel welcome, family/baby pics at every table, and taxes/accounting papers were all over tables in the front. We were pretty disappointed by Lisa's Kitchen. Based off the yelp reviews, we expected great food for a good price. While the crab rangoons were wonderful, the rest of the food was subpar. My burger was dry, the lettuce old and withered, and the bun was constructed of two mismatched pieces of bread. The atmosphere was dismal and uninviting, and far too eclectic for a restaurant setting. Overall, I would not recommend eating here. You're likely better off eating at the nearby Pizza Hut or McDonald's. read more

Lisa's Kitchen is an unexpected treat on I-80. You will drive up to find Lisa harvesting fresh vegetables among the butterflies from her garden out front. The interior of her geodesic dome is completely charming, featuring photos of her grandchildren. We had the (fresh) veggie Pad Thai, followed by excellent apple pie, and left thanking Lisa as she was cooking away in the kitchen. This little restaurant is like a visit to your grandmother's house. You will leave both happy, satisfied and grateful that Lisa and her little restaurant was in the most unexpected place. I recommend following up a visit to Lisa's with Lasso Coffee, right on your way back to I-80 on the right. We decided to stop on our way down I -80 because of the reviews. This place is small and quaint. The food however was not that good. To start I had the hot and sour soup which was very flavorful and spicy. The crab Rangoon was like any other crab Rangoon. The chicken fingers were basically sweet and sour chicken pieces with no sweet and sour. The pad Thai and fried rice had the same brown sauce(most likely soy sauce and not much more). We like getting off the beaten path, but won't stray here again. read more

Really a gem of a find here... stopped for a night on a drive westward and found this spot with a google search. Took a "risk" on it and I'm glad I did! Food was really good. Some fantastic home made Chinese food - not the usual boring, same-tasting stuff you find normally at a local Chinese place. Building was great. Dining room was low key, simple, and unassuming. Nothing fancy. The owner seemed to do it all herself. She was friendly, made us great food, and had good iced tea. That's a serious win for a road-trip spot. I recommend it.
