(How is that for putting the customer first?) So this week when I lost the door key to my 1995 Ford pickup truck, I called them and they quickly made arrangements to get a door key made so I could lock my truck. After a long day of work my wife and I came home to what we thought was a frozen lock. After trying warm it up and use WD-40 we we're out of luck. After calling around, we got ahold of Pop-A-Lock and they were happy to help. We were told 30 minutes and Leo came in 20. The dealership said I'd have to have my car towed in and then they'd make me a new key. Approximate cost $500 and my car out of commission till tomorrow. OR I could smash a tail light and fish my keys out of the trunk with a coat hanger. Approximate cost $200 plus labor, and driving around without a tail light for some unknown time until the part came in. OR I could call Pop-a-Lock and have my keys back in my hand in under an hour for ~$60. I did that. The technician got my keys out of the trunk of a supposedly theft-proof 2011 BMW, defeating all the electronic anti-theft devices and disablers. Then he put it all back together. I seriously wish Yelp offered the opportunity to give 6 stars in situations that deserve them. We were supposed to drive to Vancouver, BC from Seattle in our rental car. We were on vacation from Los Angeles, and Vancouver was the second leg of the trip. We stopped at Safeway to get some goods for the road; I put the groceries in the car and went and found my wife. She and my 2-year-old daughter were about 100 feet away. In that 100 feet, I lost the car keys. Gone! Forever! I searched everywhere--well beyond that 100 feet. I called AAA, and they unlocked the car. No keys. I called the Toyota dealer. They said that it would cost $245 to get new keys--and that it would take about 3 days. Meanwhile, we had no place to stay in Seattle and reservations in Vancouver. I called Pop-A-Lock, and spoke to Geoffrey. He said that the next available appointment would be the afternoon the next day. I explained that we were in the middle of my family vacation and boy was my wife going to beat the ever-loving crapola out of me. I told him about my 2-year-old daughter who wouldn't understand why we were stranded, missed hotel reservations, and my desire to go to Vancouver for a happy, fun family trip. He said that he would make some phone calls and try to move things around. He contacted Leo, who was able to move jobs around despite two other emergency calls ahead of mine. Leo came out within about an hour, and told us to go into the Safeway and relax in the AC. Half an hour later, I get a phone call. "Hey Ryan, know what this sound is?" VROOM VROOOOM! Friday evening prior to the July 4th holiday, our live in Nanny tells me that her car won't start. With a hotel already paid for on Saturday evening in Vancouver, BC major pouting is about to ensue if I can't get the car fixed. I quickly figure out that the problem is with the car's anti theft system, with the problem being one of 3 possibilities: bad key (we only received one when we bought the car) bad transceiver (dealer order only part and an earliest appointment date 2 weeks into the future) or the cars pcm computer. I did a quick Google search and found pop-a-lock, called at 845am on Saturday morning and was mildly surprised and encouraged when Leo answered the call. I explained the problem and he agreed that while keys do occasionally fail, the most likely cause was the Transceiver, for which he wouldn't be able to help. Because we needed the extra key anyways, I asked Leo to come out. He was at our home within 30 minutes, quickly figured out that the chip in the key was fried, created a new key and a spare for a very reasonable price. I recently had my home broken into and the low life thief ripped off, in addition to about $10K in property, most of my keys. I spent about $800 with Bulger having every door in my house rekeyed. They were expensive but were quick and did a good job. But one thing they couldn't do was to open a Teak file cabinet that housed important papers. I had left it with them for a couple days to let all their best people have a go at it and no luck. Drilling it out would have ruined the cabinet. I took it home to ponder whipping out my drill. Then I called Pop-a-Lock to see what they could do. They even told me they wouldn't charge if they couldn't get it open. With nothing to lose I told them to come on over, and they were there within the hour. I enjoyed watching the guy work. He went from one tool to another and in less than a half hour he had picked the lock open. Call SEVAN DOOR LOCKS, not PopALock. Unfortunately Sevan Door Locks was busy when I called so I called PopALock guys to unlock my front door after locking my keys in the house. All the locks on my house are new and simple quickset locks from home depot. 30 minutes later he gave up on unlocking the front door, he couldn't figure out the simple lock and wants to try to unlock the back door, which are the exact same identical locks. 90 minutes later he still can not unlock any of the 4 simple locks on my house. He gave up and left. Thank god he didnt charge me for wasting almost 2 hours of my day. After he left, i was able to use simple tools from my work to get in the house in 10seconds literally. After he left I realized they damaged my back door locks and they no longer work and I can not even get a key in the locks.
