Complete rip off. I just moved to a new house, and they completely took advantage of me, as a first time pool owner. My current company charges me $400 for cartridges, they tried to charge me $1,100. My current company charged me $1,100 for a new filter, they wanted to charge me $2,650. I paid them $3,200 for the season, two weeks into our contract I asked for a refund and they kept $1,500, and gave me back $1,700. I have heard of pool companies gouging, but I never imagined it could be this bad. At all cost, stay away from this company. This is the most unprofessional pool company I have ever encountered. I called them out twice to replace my in ground pool light bulb. They came out 2 times, charging me $350 in both instances, without repairing the light. My husband and I replaced the bulb ourselves. The pool company was using the WRONG LIGHT BULB. They replaced my entire in ground pool liner in 2013 and the liner is already detaching at 3 locations. I asked them to make the repair and they informed me the liner only has a one year warranty. This pool service is absolutely nothing to do with pools. They came to replace a skimmer and instead they did a job like someone who has never seen a pool. The skimmer sits so high, so impossible to level off with the pool deck. Chuck Calhoun charged sky high price for this unprofessional installation. He would not return calls and even talk to me to explain why they failed to complete pretty simple task. They took money upfront and that was my mistake to trust them. Stay away from them. Pools and Spas Services installed a Pentair pump in 2019. When they opened the pool on May 3, they spotted an issue with the pump which was not working at all. They first agreed to activate the warranty. A senior technician who showed up later did not investigate the issue. He did not change the pump either on the grounds that the pump was apparently working after all. Since then, however, the pump has been acting out. It eventually stopped working completely on July 1: no pool party for July 4! My family was most disappointed. I reached out to them and they said that they were backed up and that no service call could be performed in the next 10 days because they were too busy. In addition, I'm under contract to rent out my Jersey Shore property for $14,000: if the pool is still not working, that will result in a loss of income. My conclusion is: Pools and Spas Services Inc. is not trustworthy. The person I was speaking on the phone sounded uninterested and dismissive. If they had made the right decision in the first place (ie. changing the pump or at least investigating the on/off issue), I wouldn't have to deal with this. Was told by Pentair and Pools and Spas that I would receive a call to schedule. After waiting 3 days I decided to call them, was assigned a appointment a week away. I took the day off from work and waited and waited and waited called them at 3:23 PM and was told I'm on list the tech will be there by 6pm..At 5:55 PM I received a automated phone message telling.me I'm scheduled for tommorow?? So not only is my pool going to be green for the lack of the warrantied part being replaced but I'm out a days wages waiting for this unprofessional company...NOT Recommended. read more

Tue 5/21: Scheduled an appointment to get my pool heater looked at for Friday 5/24 at 9am. Tue 5/21: I called back an hour later because I had forgotten about a doctor appointment that Friday morning. I asked to push to appointment anytime in the 12:30 - 4:30 timeframe. The receptionist could not get a hold of the person to manages the schedule but made a note to pass along. She said I would get a call back to confirm. Thu 5/23: No call back so I called again to confirm they were able to fit the appointment in the 12:30 - 4:30 timeframe. Manager of the schedule was not available but they promised to pass along. Fri 5/24: No call back. I called and they said they would be here at 5:30pm! We left for dinner and told the babysitter someone "might" come to fix the pool heater. Got a call during dinner at 6:30pm saying they could no longer come because their other jobs ran too long. They would come Saturday morning. Sat 5/25: Technician came and determined we needed a new gas pump. They said they would order the part and call to schedule the install once the part came in. Tue 5/28: Received an automated voicemail from the company confirming my appointment for tomorrow (Wed 5/29). I didn't receive a call to schedule an appointment so I called to ask if they were actually coming to fix the heater. I called and they said no, the part did not come in yet.... Okay. Sun 6/2: Received another automated voicemail at 5pm from the company confirming my appointment for tomorrow (Mon 6/3). I didn't receive a call to schedule an appointment so I called to ask if they were actually coming to fix the heater. I called and they said yes the technician would be there between 2-3pm.... Okay. Mon 6/3: I came home from work and the heater was still broken. Tue 6/4: I call the Pools & Spa Service and they said the technician did not come because the part did not arrive yet. WTF. Why on earth would you say you're coming when the part isn't even in yet? It's been 10 days since the part was ordered and they still didn't have it. *Side note. I looked up the gas pump they needed to replace and it turns out I could have Amazon primed it to my house overnight. This company's communication is a joke and I'm still waiting for my heater to be fixed. I'll add one star to this review whenever that happens. read more

My pump went down during the summer, I called around to other pool local pool companies in the area. Pools & Spas Service was able to get me schedule by the end of the week. They were very knowledgeable on the different kinds of variable speed pumps that were out. I am happy with my energy efficient variable speed pump. Great service! read more

Be carefull with this company...they are trully scammers ..I called for the service my pool ..pipe inground leaking ..waiting very long for final appoitment.."Joker" named Anthony showed up around 5pm with the clipboard and bill...looked more like a sales person than technician..and after 10 minutes of looking at my pipe leaking ...tried to charge me almost 200 bucks...just for telling me that I already know that my pipe is leaking..:) withoiut any perspective that he'll ever show up again to fix the problem....what a scam... They were great. I came home from vacation and my pool looked like a dark green lake. We had a large party scheduled for 5 days later. I thought we would never have been swimming at the party. I called in Pools and Spas and by the morning of my party the water was perfect. They worked on it for 4 days In a row and made the impossible come true. Moved into my house in March. The previous owner recommended them and let me tell you. This company rocks. They showed up with 4 guys to open the pool, did everything in 45 minutes, but couldn't locate the chlorinator. I went and purchased a new one, they came back that evening and installed the unit with no issues. The office staff are always very pleasant and accommodating, as I called a couple of times for follow up needs. They never charged me, other than opening and closing the pool. They performed a service on my pool heater which broke down within two weeks. They refused to fix the problem. They would not come back out because they were too busy during the season, as they put it to me, and they refuse to negotiate the bill. I offered to pay for their time, but not service, to be fair and they refused. They instead forwarded their bill to a collections agency refusing to talk with me. They even came to perform the service while I was not home and obtained the signature of my minor daughter as proof of service. VERY DISHONEST AND SHODY SERVICE PERFORMED. These people are scammers! Beware of them! I paid $250+ for them to open my pool. They came and were unable to open the pool because my pool pump was not working. I paid the $250 cash in advance so I wouldn't lose the discount they offer for early pool openings. They were charging me $800 for a new pool pump plus installation I was looking at about $1200+ not including the cleaning, vacuum or chemicals. I ended up going around And asking for quotes. I called Continental Pools in Milltown and they are great professionals. They came in looked at my pump advised me I did need a new one pump. The total cost was a little over $900 for a pool opening, vacuum, adding chemicals, a new pool pump and installation. Continental pools were the ones who opened my pool and I loved their job. Now after a week of calling Pools and Spa and trying to get a refund their response is no. I explained to them I have proof (reciepts) someone else opened And cleaned my pool and they did not care one bit they refused to give me my money back. Towards the end of last summer, I contacted Pools & Spas Service, Inc. with a request for a new safety pool cover for my in-ground pool. When we moved into our house 8 years ago, we noticed that anchors for a safety cover were installed, however there was no safety cover with the house. With the understanding that something would need to be custom made (and likely expensive), we ended up using a regular cover until we were ready upgrade. Now that our family has recently grown, we wanted to ensure that our yard would be safe for children so we began inquiring about purchasing a new safety cover. With many pool companies and products out there, it was difficult to decide where to start. Pools & Spas Service, Inc. was our first phone call, and after speaking with Ryan, we were immediately comforted with his knowledge and customer service. Based on our needs, he recommended that we go with the Loop-Loc Safety cover as it is the best you can get when considering safety and quality! Ryan was able to schedule a measurement appointment for later that week. The workers arrived on time and were able to obtain all of the measurements they needed without having to come back to re-measure. We were provided two options based on products that Loop-Loc offers and decided to go with the Solid Ultra-Loc II Pool Cover. The price that was provided included the customer measurements, installation of the cover, anchor tool, storage back, mesh drain panels and usage of the existing anchors. 5 additional anchor holes needed to be drilled, and the price breakdown for those were clearly outlined and agreed upon ahead of time. The price we received also included the closing of the pool! We worked with the Office Manager, Susan, who provided clarity with regard to the contract along with scheduling our pool closing and cover installation. They were very flexible with our closing date as we wanted to keep the pool open an extra week due to a family party we were having. We are extremely happy with the service we received, on all levels, and will be using Pools & Spas Service, Inc. for all of our future needs, starting with the opening of our pool this summer! read more

I had Pools & Spas Service Inc. replace my spa pump. During the installation, the installer cracked a fitting on the pump, put some silicon on it to stop it from leaking and didn't tell me. A few days later, the part finally gave way causing my spa to gush water out of the side panel. I called them to come out and replace the part, and told them "Your guy broke a fitting on the pump - come out and fix it". They came out, didn't fix it because they didn't have the part and then billed me $100. I have refused to pay them and now they sent me to collections. Pool owners be warned..."do not use this company the owner is insulting, greedy and uses unethical, threatening scare tactics to strong arm unsuspecting and vulnerable clients to buy. My home warranty company uses this company as one of there service representatives for service calls. I contacted my warranty company because one of the pool pumps for my pool was not working properly. The warranty company sent out Pool and Spa. 1st visit the service rep came out check to check the motor. He felt the motor was not fixable and needed to be replaced, he ordered a new motor. 2nd visit (different rep) installed the motor, after about 1.5 weeks something was not working correctly. I requested a recall to check the motor. The 3rd visit different person...the owner of Pool and Spa (Dan/Dave) got on the phone with me and began to aggressively tell me how much my pool was in serious disrepair, that I needed to drain and close my pool...and that I need to use their services going forward. I disagreed and asked why no one from his company brought this to my attention before (visit 1 or 2). He said he had no idea and that he was going to report me to the town and several other federal offices. I kept questioning him..he then hung up on me. I have a pool company serving my pool, they are not contracted by my home warranty service hence the reason Pool and Spa came out. I was sent to Pool and Spa service for warranty work - on 05/27/2016 it was assigned I called and spoke to Kathy who was very nice and was told they could get to me after memorial weekend - which was fine I called back on 06/01/2016 as a follow up and spoke to Ashley who was abrupt and rude she even stated I could go back to Pentair and request a new service provider because I didn't understand a request she had made. I did not wish to delay the service call since we had a big event coming up. I did not hear anything so I called on 06/03 Ashley said she would get back to me by the end of the day - nope called Pentair they said they would call them called again on the 7th spoke to Kathy said they could come out next Monday the 13th and they only received the order on the 5th. This was upsetting since I had conformation via email and had email and conversations from Ashley. I asked to speak to the scheduler Ryan- Jackie said he would call me back. At 4:55 I called and email Pool and Spa because I never received a call back. I again called on the 8th and did get to speak to Ryan and I explained all of the above and I had 80 people coming over on Saturday and how the ball was dropped. He told me to give him a couple hours and he would see what he could do. I never did get the call back so I emailed and called again asking for Ryan to call me - would you know I received a email from Ashley stating that he wasn't in .... I replied I spoke to him earlier. He then called me back said that the case was reassigned by Pentair - I wasn't aware of this - I spoke to Ryan about how they put me in a difficult situation and now have basically killed any chance of having my pool functioning correctly by the time Saturday came. I did ask him to have the owner of Pool and Spa call me as a fellow small business owner I felt he should be aware of how he is losing customers - I never received a call I guess the apples don't fall far from the tree. In summery the most frustrating situation I ever dealt. They get a F- if I could have given then Zero stars I would have but it wasn't and option read more
