A friend took us to CF in Nashville and we were surprised how good it was so we went to the Pittsford location near our house and since then it's been a favorite treat place to go out about once a month. The dining rooms of most Cheesecake Factories are very large and in Pittsford a lot of the tables are long rows of 2 and 4 tops with a banquette on one side and chairs on the other side. This visit I had herb-crusted salmon since it was (somewhat) lower in calories than my usual go-to, Chicken Piccata. I was seriously impressed with the salmon. The portion was generous and the herb mixture was very flavorful. The asparagus was well trimmed but both the vegetable and the delicious lemon sauce it was served in were barely warm. I'm not sure if the lemon sauce is supposed to be served room temperature or it sat waiting for the other pieces to be ready? My salmon and mashed potatoes were both piping hot. This didn't stop me from eating every speck of the fish and asparagus. The mash was filling so I didn't eat quite all of it. The Cheesecake Factory rewards program doesn't work like most dining loyalty programs. You don't earn points, you just receive periodic offers for discounted gift cards or discounts on certain items (dessert usually). Overall, Cheesecake Factory is pretty expensive... Still, if I compare how I feel after having dinner for 2 at Cheesecake Factory for around 100 dollars for 2 (including 1 alcoholic drink and a shared desert) versus about 85 dollars for a similar lineup of items from someplace like Olive Garden, Cheesecake Factory has always seemed like a better choice. Forgoing an alcoholic drink helps the bill too. My 9 ounce wine glass was over 18 dollars by itself which isn't really defensible.
